I'm a bit late to the party here but what do you recommend for hair loss? I put collagen in my coffee but are there any other tried and tested supplements?

FurForksSake · 18/07/2025 13:35

My hair loss has slowed down a lot, thank god. I take biotin and feroglobin (iron) as that’s supposed to help. I take vitamin c at the same time as iron to help it absorb, no idea if that works.

I also take vitamin d, magnesium (at bedtime) and vitamin b complex. I like a supplement.

I am taking the biotin every day and my nails are growing so well at the moment and my hair loss is still there but very much slowing. Keeping up your protein helps as well apparently.

I don’t take collagen as i hate liquids and can’t find a capsule that I like the profile of given the research about which work. I just get too confused.

Weepixie · 18/07/2025 14:15

For hair loss I’d check my Ferritin level with the self test kit from Boots if you can’t get your Dr to do a blood test for you. If it’s low it’s more likely to cause hair loss than anything else. I have very low ferritin levels even without Mounjaro, and even with a HB level that would be considered ok - the lower end of normal. You can google the difference between ferrous fumerrate and a regular iron tablet.

Im not a lover of taking supplements but I do take the FF as well vitamin d for my pre-osteoporosis, and magnesium.

Yesterday I was talking to my personal trainer about my hair and he suggested collagen might be worth a try but I’m so close to coming off Mounjaro I don’t want to add another supplement to what I already take. Anyway, last night he sent me bone broth that one of his other clients makes and I’ll go down this route for collagen instead. Ive had some today already and it was like drinking a stock. It’s just a good tablespoon of the heavy concentrate dissolved in almost boiling water taken with a squeeze of lemon juice.

FurForksSake · 18/07/2025 15:21

I’ve just ordered a ferritin blood testing kit from boots, will be interesting to see.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/07/2025 16:08

I take Sea Kelp. As an (ex) hairdresser I used to recommend it for people trying to grow their hair. I started taking it when my thyroid blood results were weird & I was pre diabetic.
Anecdotally, I haven't had any hair loss on this journey.
I buy my supplements from Just Vitamins, but this is quite a good article I think. Sea Kelp

PoemsForTea · 18/07/2025 17:14

Gahhh @Timetochange24that reply was to you not @FurForksSake!! Sorry both!

I wish. He doesn’t care. Won’t get a job as will lose his rent being paid for and cms would claim 14% of his
gross wage to pay me

and he wonders why I’m so pissed off in general

You really are better off without him! Can't you add him to your weight loss total?!

I take biotin and bovine collagen. I took biotin from the start as I am prone to hair loss if unwell. So far it seems to have worked.

Well done @Blondeshavemorefun

anyone here used trip.com to book flights+hotel coming out the cheapest but not used it before??

morbidcuriosity · 18/07/2025 18:57

@owlyboo I've used trip.com but only for hotels.. its cheaper than booking.com . Was all good, used it 3 times now, in the UK though..

owlyboo · 18/07/2025 19:20

Thanks @morbidcuriosityi was a little spooked by the 1 reviews even though most were 5 and when I looked at 1* most were saying my flight was cancelled which I thought isn’t really trip.coms fault. That’s the airline…. It’s not massively cheaper but can get a much nicer hotel for same price as a less nice one on booking . Com

I’ve been buying again. Was undecided on no 3 as material silky and looks ok on but wasn’t sure.

So did a return and they said keep the dress and been refunded already

Did you book flights+hotel @Blondeshavemorefun ? It seems most the bad reviews are to do with flights…

Dresses look nice @Blondeshavemorefun😍

Highly recommend ChatGPT for researching holidays. I was in the travel business myself for a while so always do loads of research. Using ChatGPT was so much quicker. I haven't used Trip.com...will have a look x

Thanks all! I've ordered some biotin and will get one of the iron tests too. It's been quite a stressful few weeks at home and work and apparently now instead of comfort eating I lose my (already small) appetite. This is all a bit of an unknown!!

morbidcuriosity · 18/07/2025 21:38

A 1lb off 7 stone loss pic for my August friends..
