@Weepixie thanks for taking the time for such a detailed and thoughtful post. I will answer after the weekend as it's full on at my house this weekend

@Azuresky68 no problem. A full a house is a blessing and I hope you have a great weekend.

And there’s no need to reply to my post. It’s ok. Hopefully it will have helped even a teeny weeny bit.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/07/2025 07:02

Welcome back @Mum0ntherun. 3s loss is great so far. Well done. I get it’s annoying not losing much but 3.5lvs is almost a lb a week which was my average - yes sometimes I lost 2 ur sometimes stasis you are def not a failure ((hug))

sorry to hear about lack of jobs. That does make it harder as deflates you

kwym about the money and must be even harder for you as affording it while not working

what is the feedbacks jobs you have applied for ? Can you apply for something diff even if working in. Coffee shop to earn some money and get you out of the house

I do practically no exercise due to ankle /hips and have been losing so to me it really is calories and what you eat

maybe put down a few days meals for us to help

think how far you have come 20 to a 14 so pretty similar to me tho I’m a 12 now but also that’s a 6s loss. You have achieved dropping clothes sizes on many less stone

do you have family that you can talk to or see. Assume kids due to name

ur you are def not a failure. Be proud of what you have lost 💐

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 12/07/2025 07:04

Oh it’s 3s plus 1.8 this year so 4.8 that’s even better. Don’t lose hope x

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 12/07/2025 07:24

It’s a Long one. Sorry

I’m awake stupidly early on my day off which I’m annoyed about. Didn’t work last night - never do Fridays - and wanted a decent lie in which didn’t get due to below

as the saying goes - I’m on a rock and hard place

I have been reducing mj 15 to 10 (skipped 12.5) then went to 7.5 for past couple of weeks and plan was to go to 5 out of a 10 to ease cost

im losing weight even not trying and eating more 600c a day to maintain as tdee says and now lowest I’ve been for 25yrs when I did ww before

im getting hunger with the lower doses but also know that’s a good thing and control it

its the pain that I can’t do

past week or so I have been having pain in hips and ankle again - we know mj has the magic effect of helping other symptoms and pain was one of them for me

and didn’t reliese how much it helped till now. Yes in the early weeks it seemed better and less aches and you kinda get used to that

since dropping I am feeling more pain

so do I increase back to 10 for a month or so and see if pain goes. Don’t want to hobble on holiday as will be the first one in 20yrs I’ve been slim so want to be more active

did I cut down too quickly as hasn’t been a month on each one

I don’t think I can drop to 5 if aching like this

ideally I wanted to stop for cost and to see if can do on my own but not sure I can deal with the pain esp as been practically pain free for the last 12mths

as a single parent and paying for everything myself (get £28 cms wow) for dd and myself , plus a loan for ex that’s in my name so I’m a screwed, it’s getting tight hence why wanted to stop for the cost

so I keep on say 10 or even increase to 12.5 but that’s the huge cost ones so don’t really want to

and see his pain in hips /ankle are

and put on my credit card (along with my divorce after holiday at another £600+) so 3mths and a divorce is gonna to be just over £1k

and see how pain is

I know no one can really tell me. If money wasn’t an issue it would be easy to stay on it for pain , rather than weight loss but at the moment it is

esp as when away don’t get paid as self employed so that dents my budget even more

sorry for rambling

@Mum0ntherunsorry things sound so difficult. Can you do volunteering or a course just to get some social interaction and sense of worth? Your mental health is so important and finding ways to support it will really help.

have you worked out your current tdee? I’d try dropping 100 cals a day and adding an extra 1000 steps. However, nearly 1lb a week isn’t bad at all!! The first weight always comes off faster so this isn’t unexpected to be slower.

FurForksSake · 12/07/2025 08:24

@Blondeshavemorefuni would look at other ways to manage the pain, do you have any physio exercises? If your ankle has stopped you doing some exercise you may be losing muscle which will be increasing pressure on joints and ligaments. Finding some exercise that works and starts to rehab might really help. I’d also look into something like curable to understand the science of pain.

some people find collagen supplements or tumeric really helpful.

I can’t say mj has helped with my pain at all, or when I taper I’m going to be in unbearable pain.

chatgpt can be helpful for exercises and if you tell it your limitations it can then build a programme. Obviously only do as much as you can, but it might really help.

sorry you are struggling, it’s miserable to be in pain and have other worries.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/07/2025 08:42

Thanks @FurForksSake I have exercises that physio gave me and that I do but they don’t really help any more

I had a bostrum ligament construction 2.5yrs ago and leg in plaster /boot for months

this is due to a fall I had in 2022 and is going via solicitors/ court so can’t talk too much about it

and ankle is the best I will ever be but won’t be the same as it was before fall

hence why I don’t do much exercise

was in constant pain. On varuiys medications for it and when I cut down /stop for appointments I notice it

mj def has some kind of pain management imo and seen other threads about it

I have a new 10 coming Thur I think - do I will take that esp when on holiday and see how it is

I don’t like the pain feeling as hadn’t have aches for a while and even friends said I am moving about more freely - I obv the 6.5s loss helped as well

Motnight · 12/07/2025 09:30

@Blondeshavemorefun that sounds really difficult. My DH has a life limiting illness and is in more or less constant pain (sometimes low level, sometimes not) and it's horrible to watch how it affects him. So no advice from me but my best wishes.

FurForksSake · 12/07/2025 09:57

@BlondeshavemorefunIt is so miserable when pain returns. The meds are so interesting, I’d love it if I’d had any pain relief from it.

sounds like you have a plan, which is always half the battle!

NippyNinjaCrab · 12/07/2025 12:52

@Mum0ntherun hey it's lovely to hear from you, tight hugs with how you're feeling. I have 2 diagnosed MH conditions and have meds, when I was on a higher (for me) dose of MJ it really affected my mood, I was very low, and also super agitated, I had one of my meds increased and it helped. I had a call with Oushk and Hira also said that mood can be affected, my GP spoke to the Psychiatrist who agreed to increase and monitor while I was on MJ and tapering off. Its just a thought for you to think about. In regards to your weight loss, I understand your frustration, I sts for 4 weeks and ffs I thought what's the bloody point. I was losing a half pound before and after that. Food is the most important part of weight loss and healthy lifestyle, walking, even a short one will give you a wee boost. What sort of things do your meals consist of. Wish we could help more with the job etc, do you have any support network? Xxxx

NippyNinjaCrab · 12/07/2025 13:01

@Blondeshavemorefun I have noticed the same now I am on a tiny to no dose now. My right hip is gouping and I know its heading to a point its going to be unbearable and I will need it done! I was trying to put that op off. You already take Naproxen don't you? In between I sometimes use a high % ibuprofen gel or i alternate with 2 co codamol then 2 hours later 2 ibuprofen. I can't take any tramadol or morphine patches anymore not sure if that would give you relief short term or lidocaine patches on the area? Aw its awful I really really feel for you going on holiday and having this pish pain. Xxx

Mum0ntherun · 12/07/2025 13:07

@Blondeshavemorefun @FurForksSake & @NippyNinjaCrab

My industry is specific, and I'm very senior (and expensive), though I have also applied for junior roles (I am really not precious as I just want to get back to work), where they tell me I am 'too experienced.' I'm in touch with good recruiters and headhunters, and they all say the same thing: "a fantastic CV and a quality candidate that they could have placed over and over just a couple of years ago, but the market is bad. Wait it out, it will change, and there are many people like you in the same situation", which is cold comfort! After so long, it makes everything really hard, and I am losing and gaining the same 2/3 Lbs all the time, which adds to the difficulty.

I tend to eat Activia granola yoghurt for breakfast, though sometimes I do brunch and not both. Lunch usually consists of soup, salad, or Dr Karg crackers with cream cheese & smoked salmon. Dinner is with the family, so it could be homemade curry, salmon with rice/veg, or BBQ-type dishes at the moment, and I will have a dessert - yoghurt or something similar, and I will have a Kitkat or similar with a cup of tea in the evening. Rarely have a G&T or wine anymore. I track everything on MFP and I am within or below calories every day and if I am over I pull it back.

MJ has been great in terms of helping with pain for my dodgy arthritic knees, but that pain and damn Perimenopause mean not sleeping, etc, etc, so it just feels like the world is throwing everything at me at the moment and the only positive thing was the weightloss and it feels like I can't do that right either! All my life, I have been the strong one, the main support in the family/breadwinner, and I solve people's problems, not add to them, etc, and it feels like I just have to keep going as there really is no other choice. Fortunately, I have been a saver all my life, but after 18 months, that's getting more than a tad thin too!

Sorry that the first time I come back on here in months, I'm a moaning Minnie but all seemed to flood out a bit. Thanks for listening - sometimes you just need to be seen and heard, and I've felt very invisible and forgotten in the last year or so.

Timetofindme · 12/07/2025 15:54

@Mum0ntherun I've tried really hard not to compare my losses to others on this thread or it gets me down. You're losing nearly a pound a week, that's steady and sustainable. Particularly with all the other challenges you've got going on, it's amazing. Maybe try to focus on the positives - you are losing weight, you aren't comfort eating (and this is awesome - shows a habit change!) and you're plodding on. Maybe try to compare you to you? Look back at where you were a year ago, how food wise you might have dealt with your current challenges - it sounds like you've come a long way!

You are not a failure, please try not to speak negatively about yourself!

I'm plodding along and will be here a whole so please do keep checking in and leaning on us for support x

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/07/2025 16:41

@Motnight. That must be hard. Sorry to hear about dh. Mine isn’t life limiting as such but def in pain.

weather makes a diff. Cold or wet and really aches

I’m on naproxen and co codemal and have a gel similar to yours

tho I was told not have co codemal and ibuprofen together as they counter act against each other

@NippyNinjaCrab weird how mj helps pain. It’s def more since I’ve dropped dose and that’s the tricky /annoying thing.

I want to lower /stop ideally for cost but not at the cost of pain

does that make sense

@Blondeshavemorefunare they treating your anaemia? That can definitely cause aches and pains to increase as well. There is hope that if your anaemia improves that might make some difference.

Hello Ladies,

I've been MIA for a few months, as I've found the world a bit overwhelming and my weight loss has stalled - I suspect for many, many, MANY reasons. But I could really do with your advice, please, as my weight loss is crawling.

So, up until Christmas, I did very well and lost about 3 stone, but at that point, I moved from 5 up to 7.5 and then 10, (am about to move to 12.5) and my weight loss just dropped off a cliff and all I've lost this year is 1 stone 8lbs, and I've another 1 stone 8lbs to lose to reach my goal. My dress sizes have gone from 20 to 14-ish! My calories are around 1400 each day, but my exercise is minimal - when I'm depressed, I tend to hibernate and don't leave home much.

Honestly, my mental health is through the floor - I was made redundant 18 months ago and despite having applied for hundreds & I mean hundreds of jobs nothing has materialised (I'm not comfort eating BTW just shrinking away from the world). I suspect this lack of exercise is a major contributor but not all of it surely as I've been low for a while as you can imagine.

I've had a quick look through this thread and I am so impressed with your losses here, so well done all. I know I'm slowly losing, but 3.5 pounds a month isn't great, and I feel like a failure again. Any advice would be really welcome, as I was doing so well, and I really don't want to give up and put the weight back on. I do feel so much better about myself physically, but this is such a hard (and expensive) slog at the moment.

Thanks in advance, XX

I have followed a similar pattern this year, if that's any consolation. Since January I have lost 1stone 11lbs. Like you I moved up from 7.4mg to 10mg and it was on the 10mg that everything seemed to slow down to almost nothing (2lbs a month for the time I was on 10mg).

I've read of so many people have similar experiences on 10mg that I started to suspect a dodgy batch, or that maybe a batch hadn't been stored properly - something like that (I moved up to 12.5mg in June and have lost 8lbs since. I've also switched suppliers...).

I was thinking exactly that as I moved providers at the same time, and everything has slowed down so much.

Interesting. I guess there's not much harm in changing to see if there's a difference. Especially if the pharmacy you're using have been known to have issues.

lookathatbookcase · 12/07/2025 18:36

Sending good thoughts @Mum0ntherun - other folks have said wise things but it sounds like you're going through so much, and I completely get you feeling yourself shrinking back from the world. When I've had similar times, I've felt like a big bath bomb, sadly fizzing away to nothing in the water. You've done so well to lose the weight you have! Can you think of exercise as a way to mediate against the depression and sadness? I've always found it so useful to get out of my head and into my body when I feel like this.

Thanks for the kind words - you are so spot on. It's hard not to feel lost and sorry for yourself, and a bit sad and disappointed that people who you thought were friends are not there for you. My first thought is always 'what can I do to help', but as recent times have shown, that is not the case with everyone! I think I've seen more kindness from people on here than from some of the people around me.

I've always been a big 'fizzy-bathbomb' type character, so the fizzing to nothing resonates so well. Besides the 'pull yourself together, missy' attitude I've had, I think I need to be a bit kinder to myself. You are all very right in terms of concentrating on my losses and not those around me. I am still much better and healthier than I was a year ago 💪
