Bowel cancers in certain locations can bleed slowly and continuously which then results in anaemia. It’s highly unlikely but they do the stool samples to rule it out.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/07/2025 10:01

Yes @Weepixie I did say that I was still every 28 days. Lucky me. Not lol. Most of my friends same age stopped 44/50 and I’m nearly 52

yes good he’s thorough for you and me.

@FurForksSake that’s what I’ve just been reading via google. I’m not worried or concerned …… yet lol

poppym12 · 02/07/2025 20:46

Hope you're ok @Blondeshavemorefun.

I've finally broken the 5 stone barrier. I was hoping to be working my way back down now but I'm still going. This last few lbs is taking aaaaages to go.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/07/2025 21:59

I’m all good thanks @poppym12. Doctors more worried then me. Unless results come back with blood in them. Then I shall worry lol

@Blondeshavemorefun there is no point in worrying about something that you have no idea is going to happen. You come across as someone who will deal with whatever, if it happens. That's a good way to live.

I had my mainentance call (Oushk) yesterday, with Inderip. It was all good. I'm about to order a 5mg pen and we've agreed I'll use that every 9/10 days. Then down to a 2.5mg pen once a week, then the next 2.5mg pen every 9/10 days. Then we will review again.

I kind of like the idea of heading eventually to 1 month on, 1 month off... (on 2.5mg). I feel that will give me a whole month with no MJ to see how I manage, whether I've learnt enough about portion size, and how much my ravenous appetite returns. But with the safety net of a month where I can moderate my appetite and be strict if I need to. Maybe in future I'll move to 2 months off, one month on...

It also means I'm not wasting money having pens that are half used (although I suspect that several of us are using pens beyond the 30 day 'limit')

I really like the approach that Oushk take to this (and yes, I know that some of it is commercial decision for them to keep people with them for as long as possible). I also really loving the whole 'citizen science' approach that WLI's are having. Rather than 'remote experts' being in charge and dictating what doses we must have and when, WE we the users of pharmaceuticals are making the decisions for ourselves.

Just look on the Auggie threads. We have people like @Blondeshavemorefun who had little or no supression until they were on high doses, and weaklings like @NippyNinjaCrab and myself who've not got beyond 5mg.

By comparison, we go to get a vaccine and we all get the same dose. Some people are fine, some are ill as a consequence.

For me, this MJ experience will have me questioning any other medicationmore closely...

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/07/2025 22:22

I’m trying to go down so I can stick to a low dose for a month or two. See if I gain or maintain. Then ideally come off

tho if the drug stops ankle pain that’s got to be good surely tho cheapest is Ousch via their discount is

thi due to new regs had to do waistmeasurement and new photo

cost £126 a month /5w

or do I go for 10 so £146 / 10w but use it as a 5 so go a month over what they say

but means it’s £14 a week so £2 a day 🙀

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 02/07/2025 22:24

Well done @poppym12 at 5s so that’s 70lbs and an elephants penis plus some

@20bloodypounds your reply is what I was asking. So ok to do half a dose ?

OP posts:
20bloodypounds · 02/07/2025 22:56

@Blondeshavemorefun I didn't have to do any new measurements??? When I've been asked for new photos on ordering I've just ignored it.

I'm not sure what you're asking... Do you get a 5mg pen and use it in 5 weeks (which is within the regulated use) at X price, or 10mg pen and use it in 10 weeks, and half of X price? But the second option is not within the regulated use?

I don't think I can answer that for you. I know what I do, but I would never post my own experience as advice.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/07/2025 07:59

Ha ha. Yes @20bloodypounds that’s what I’m asking but as not in the guidelines I get what you won’t say yes 😛

just trying to get the cheapest way

as usual day 7 I’m hungry but it’s a hunger that obv needs breakfast 😂 so I’m ok with that

but going down in doses I do notice it more. I think

I will do 7.5 Tom I think and see how I fare

I looked last night on Ousch and yes needed to do full length plus waist measurement - so that’s def new as I’m a reg customer

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/07/2025 08:04

Oh this just came. That’s good news tho what does that mean ? Further tests ? Or give me some iron /blood

They might want them to decide if they want to do a colonoscopy anyway.

but in the meantime they should be treating the anaemia?

WitchDancer · 03/07/2025 09:01

I’d read that as they’re going to run more tests @Blondeshavemorefun. I hope they get to the bottom of it quickly for you Flowers

I’m very much struggling with lower doses of MJ. My food cravings are back big style, not helped by my stress levels. I’m just riding it out for now and won’t be buying anything snack wise other than fruit from now on - I bought some for my kids but they’ve not been around to eat them so I’ve been picking at them.

Other than that life is much better in my own space. I’m still learning how to be me again though, which is the hardest part.

Onwards and downwards!

Weepixie · 03/07/2025 10:08

@Blondeshavemorefun they were at a fork in the road with your health problem and decided to rule out the worrying one first of all then concentrate on the other causes of anaemia. i honestly wouldn’t be concerned and all the more so after a year of losing weight, lots of weight. Of course your diet has been deficient even if you’ve made conscious efforts for it not to be.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/07/2025 13:17

Sorry struggling @WitchDancer. I’m def hungrier going down doses but guess means was doing something

walk away from the snacks but equally a little something is fine just not every day

glad life is better in own space. I totally get that ((hugs))

shame we aren’t all nearer each other and have a meet up

thanks @Weepixie. I’m eating healthier now so was suprised over the iron and anaemic

I’ve never been a huge milk drinker - have black tea but been like that since preg with dd so 9yrs

I have mikshakes and on cereal /porridge just not in tea

I eat cheese every day so don’t get why so low

OP posts:
Weepixie · 03/07/2025 19:02

@Blondeshavemorefun milk and cheese aren’t good sources of iron so if you’ve been consuming them whilst losing weight and thinking they’d help with your iron it’s probably a big part of you being anaemic.

I found this link to 52 foods that are good sources of iron and milk and cheese aren’t even mentioned.

https://health.clevelandclinic.org/how-to-add-more-iron-to-your-diet

And I’m surprised about that actually. First I did a search for top 10 foods, then top 20 and so on and I was surprised to get to 52 and still not see them mentioned.

I trust the info from the Cleveland clinic.

52 Foods High In Iron

Iron helps prevent anemia and protect your body from infection. Eating iron-rich foods like tuna, tofu, broccoli or figs can help.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/07/2025 19:47

I know they have calcium. But iron I have fruit veg and bloody spinach lots so don’t know why so low

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 03/07/2025 19:51

I eat every week off that list

Mince beef
Eggs. Lots
Chicken
Ham
Tuna
Brocolli
Spinach
Cabbage
Green beans
Almonds

FurForksSake · 03/07/2025 19:58

Evening! apparently orange juice helps to absorb iron and dairy stops it? So maybe add some juice in?

I have my maintenance call with oushk next week. Will I need a tape measure and if so why? I haven’t had a weight verification call. I’m very nervous of the chat! I want to lose another 7lbs, I hope that’s close enough target for them.

20bloodypounds · 03/07/2025 20:53

i had my maintenance call a cople of days ago. I told them my weight, height and BMI, they didn't ask anything else. Then today I got an email saying I need a weight check video, and they need to see passport or other ID and I need to be on scales. I know this is now becoming routine, but they could have done both together.

I do think it's good though, to stop people who don't qualify for MJ from being able to order it. The first couple of pens I got (not from Oushk) they didn't even need a photo.

FurForksSake · 03/07/2025 21:15

I’ve booked it for next Friday, get it over and done with!

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/07/2025 22:57

Tape measure for measure waist for height to waist or maybe to prove height and mark against wall

too many are claiming in inch or two short to get over 30

You’ve been on a restricted diet and wouldn’t have been eating enough of the above to get the iron (and other vitamins) needed to maintain good health over a prolonged period of time: and because your iron levels were lower than what they needed to be to begin with they’ve gotten worse along the way. It could even be that although what you eat is on the list, they’re not high up the list when it comes to iron content.

Anaemia is one of those things that you can have and not realise you have it until your blood count is quite low and you start to feel awful. It happened to me years ago. I was having terrible periods and was living with the situation rather than be treated for it because I thought it was ‘normal’ at my age. One day I started having palpitations and it scared me so much I went to the Dr who discovered my blood count was down to 6.2 and the next day I was in hospital for a blood transfusion. After I started feeling much better because of the transfusion, I realised I hadn’t been feeling well at all for quite some time but I was so used to it I hadn’t realised.

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/07/2025 06:53

WWJ and lost 2lbs even tho haven't been trying and have been eating more cals - still can't manage the 600c extra every day but def eating more

I don't really want to be lighter then I am as I know I can't keep it there easily and happily

Did 7.5 today so dropping again so be interesting what this week shows in hunger and weight loss if any next week

Prefer to gain my 2lb back 😂

Popping in to say hi to everyone 😁. I am still plodding on - one lb away from 6 stone loss. I am doing ok. Weight loss very slow but sure. Definitely feel physically better than I did a year ago.

@Blondeshavemorefun sorry to read about your health issues. Really glad that the drs are on it.

Really interesting to read about people's journeys whilst maintaining.
