A NSV for me to add today. Despite not losing any weight for a few weeks, I am sure I am smaller as my couple of pairs of Vinted jeans I had bought are getting roomy. Not done measurements for ages though. I ordered some size 10 jeans from ASOS, and another pair from New Look. The ASOS jeans came and even though I picked them up and thought they looked tiny, they are way too big! Thought it must be a fluke and weird sizing thing, then the New Look jeans are also way too big. So maybe I need to be ordering a size 8?! 🤯

Polkadotdash · 10/07/2025 19:57

Pleased to report in that the Rudeboy scales have heeded the warning and today’s weigh in puts me 4lb down on Sunday. Proof that petitions work!
I’m now 8lbs from my goal weight of 11 stone 9lbs (which puts me back to a normal bmi).
Big thing for me now is wondering how my weight will be post hysterectomy. I am on my second week of no jab at all so I need to go back to it pretty sharpish or I’m at risk of missing my target having got so close.

mince3point14159265 · 10/07/2025 21:19

Well done @Polkadotdash ! How are you feeling otherwise? 🤞 you can restart soon & lose that last iddy-biddy 8lbs!

BlueLimes · 10/07/2025 21:27

Amazing losses and nsv. 4 stone is amazing @Zempy and losing after a holiday is so great @mince3point14159265 you must be so pleased @Thelittlestranger sorry if I’ve missed anything
glad your scales sorted themselves out @Polkadotdash

I’ve had a shocker of a work day and would normally be inhaling dairy milk - not had one bit.

myladyjane · 10/07/2025 21:38

Pleased our petition worked @Polkadotdash. Hope you are feeling on the mend.

oh I had a binge! My first. Or did I. I had half a carton of prawn fried rice from the Chinese and half a cornetto. It was because I forgot to eat then dh was getting a Chinese for him and dd so I fancied some and was hungry . Not a big issue but a little mindset change. Kinda wish I was going up to 10mg…

Jins · 10/07/2025 22:12

Glad your scales are behaving @Polkadotdash.

I’ve dropped the ball on clothing usage. I have 3 pairs of size 12 jeggings with tags which sort of fitted but were too tight round the waist last time I tried them on and now they are far too big. They’re in the pile for Vinted but might leave it till after this hot spell. I’ve been through my wardrobe today and it’s looking pretty empty. I’ve got a couple of drawers to sort out next and I’m sure most of it can go. It’s mostly T shirts and things with crew necks which don’t suit me and work type stuff which I won’t need again. I’ve put a couple of dresses and some tops in the alterations pile but I’m not sure when I’ll get round to them.

I’ve not counted but I seem to have enough shoes to last me a normal lifespan. I’m really bad at being heartless with shoes.

MJalltheway · 11/07/2025 07:43

Weigh in day today, after a week spent mostly in bed and without doing any exercising...
Week 25
SW 101kg
CW 80.6kg
GW 70kg
loss this week - 1.2kg!!
Not sure how that has happened.

And after needing to drop 2 stone to come down one dress size from 18 to 16, the next stone has seen me into size 14s. I'm so tantalisingly close to moving into the normal BMI bracket (79.2kg), that's my next target. I filled one bin bag with clothes yesterday, but my room looks like the proverbial jumble sale so plenty more to sort.

@Polkadotdash glad the collective power of our disapproval has sorted out your scales, quite right too! Hope the rest of your recovery is going well.

Jins · 11/07/2025 08:18

Well done @MJalltheway. Normal BMI is in reach.

Not such a great day for week 26 weigh-in with a gain of 0.6lbs putting me at 9st 2.4. If I call it week one of maintenance though…

On the plus side I’ve avoided side effects this week and it’s half dose jab day. Not sure yet whether it’ll be 25 or 30 clicks.

It’s DHs day off today and as the weather is going to be amazing we’re off to the coast for a potter. Need to be on the road before the crowds decide that North Wales is the place to be as traffic is usually at standstill on a sunny Friday. This will probably be our last chance before schools break up

myladyjane · 11/07/2025 08:31

hah @MJalltheway I was just coming on to say that I decided to weigh in today and have lost another 1.5lbs so in the two and a half weeks I’ve been off my feet, I’ve lost more than in the month before where I was regularly exercising. No word of a lie, I’ve probably done less than 10,000 total in that time frame (foot is not healing well and am on anti biotic now).

anyway, end of my pen and week 25 too and am now officially over the 3 stone mark (was half a lb off it last weigh in). 42.5 lb gone. 10lb til my bmi is under 30 (joy of being a short arse).

still not one fucker has said anything! Oh for the laugh emoji

DGonMJ · 11/07/2025 08:53

Well done @MJalltheway!

Congrats on the new stone bracket @RockyisMYRhino 🏅

And welcome to maintenance @Thelittlestranger! Let us know how you get on with the lower dose.

Coastal day sounds lovely @Jins - v jealous! I’ll be wfh in my increasingly hot house 🥵

@myladyjane half of anything is not a binge! Also Cornetto doesn’t count in this heat 😉

Well done on avoiding the dairy milk @BlueLimes hope you have a better day today.

@Fullmoonwalker the dry eye thing is odd isn’t it? I’m back to tolerating my contact lenses for a bit longer too. I’m slightly disappointed that my coffee consumption has gone back up, I’ve saved so much money not buying a second and third £3 coffee each day.

My maintenance update - Juniper scales have stopped working. I’m taking this as a sign to stop tracking on the app and fully switch to Renpho. Usually my Renpho scales have me a bit heavier, but today I’m 59.4kg - lowest ever and now 3kg below my target. I added cream to my fruit salad last night to try and add some calories to my day! Definitely jabbing 3.75mg this weekend, not sure how much difference that will make versus 4mg? Have ordered another 5mg pen to arrive next week with the intention of doing a month on 3.75mg before going to 2.5mg.

HeidiNotSoHeavy · 11/07/2025 13:21

Hey losers and congrats on all the wins!

I'm not online much this week, we're on holiday in South of France. Really lucky with weather, I was worried about heatwave but it's a pleasant 28 degrees. With sea breeze, wouldn't even need shade on the beach, if it wasn't for the fact that I'm as pale as Casper the friendly ghost.

Not counting my calories this week, having some fresh bread with camemebert for lunch just now, not exactly diet food. But have been quite active, so hopefully not a massive gain.

Isn't summer just so much more pleasant when not carrying an extra few stone around?

MJalltheway · 11/07/2025 13:53

Love a bit of Camembert! Enjoy your holiday and the treats @HeidiNotSoHeavy. It's definitely nicer all round not to be carrying so much extra weight! So much easier to be active, so much easier to find clothes, so much easier to fit in places.
I must confess to being slightly torn over whether to get rid of ALL my big clothes or keep a couple of things 'just in case'. Even writing it sounds so defeatist, but I know I'm not alone in having yo-yo'ed before. I do feel like it's different this time, not just because of the MJ but also because of my diet overhaul which feels like a proper sustainable, life-long change and because of the exercise.

TomorrowPenny · 11/07/2025 15:32

Hi everyone, we’re back on dry land after three days at sea in a carb laden voyage. I’m looking forward to getting home now 😅, I love my young people but nearly three weeks with two ND kids in relatively small spaces means I’m ready for a bit of room. Had an amazing time so far though!!

I will have gained weight on the ship, no doubt about it. Carb central, I even had a cold beer on the sundeck (don’t really like beer).

I’ve walked 70 miles since 1/7, hopefully that’s done some good.

Now in Stockholm until our flight back on Tuesday so hopefully I’ll get some more steps in and choose salmon instead of meatballs. 🤣

discov · 11/07/2025 15:40

Absolutely so much nicer being lighter in the summer! I have vowed every year after having a horrendous uncomfortable summer that I will lose the weight next year, and it never happened (until now.)

@MJallthewayI totally get it. I even said to DH earlier ‘what happens if I put all the weight back on’ and he said I won’t! I am being brave and just getting rid of all the too-big stuff. I feel like keeping it will just make it more acceptable to me for the weight to creep up as I can just dig out my next size up jeans, then before I know it I’ll be digging out the next pair too.

discov · 11/07/2025 15:43

Another NSV for me today in that I have been extremely brave and I’m wearing a vest top with my upper arms out for the first time in maybe 25 years. I’ve always covered up as long as I can remember, and spent every summer feeling so uncomfortable. It’s actually DD’s vest top because I don’t even own one, paired with a size 8 skirt! I went to the local high street and got some lunch and then went to the shop and no one cared that my arms were exposed. It sounds silly but it’s a huge thing for me!! I kept catching myself in window reflections and thinking I actually look great 🤯

Also the size 10 too-big jeans I posted about yesterday arrived in a size 8 this morning and they fit perfectly!!

myladyjane · 11/07/2025 19:55

for those not sure re getting rid of clothes I would suggest that you do. From my experience, we are all going to want to move to a place where we are not hyper vigilant all the time. If you have some fat trousers in the wardrobe, I found it easy to make excuses for why I was reaching for them (period bloat, big meal the day before, y in day) and before you know it you are wearing them as standard. Maybe not having them makes you experience the too tight waistband and so can rein stuff back in, especially as the alternative is a tangible cash outlay.

whyamisuddenlygettingolder · 11/07/2025 20:01

I’m so behind in conversation, but glad to see people losing and maintaining and being ruthless with their wardrobes!

I’m 4.5st down as of today, though BMI is still 27. In size 10/12 depending on the shop, woo! But I was doing a plank in a loose tshirt today and looked down at my own belly and was just horrified by it from that angle. I’m never going to be able to afford any kind of surgery, wtf do people do without it 😬

Thelittlestranger · 11/07/2025 21:08

Biggest thing I learnt from having had surgery is that no-one else notices the things we hate about ourselves...if only we could learn to love ourselves more.

Talking of which @discov - I've been wearing vests all week and I haven't for ages! I even got complimented on my traps by someone at work 🤣 Trying to embrace new clothes - and I have got rid of all my big stuff. Wise words @myladyjane - I figured it would be too easy to put the bigger clothing back on.

Welcome nearly back @TomorrowPenny - 3 week cruise with kids sound brilliant and stressful ll at the same time!!

That is a good compliment to get!!

Wearing sleeveless has unlocked a whole new category of clothing for me now. Gone are the days of painstakingly browsing shops looking for the one dress with a decent sleeve length and having to pass by 50 others! I really need to have a day real life shopping so I can try lots of different things on. I have spent 20 years buying things that will ‘do’ because they cover up or are ‘flattering’ rather than wearing the things I’d actually love to wear. It’s a bit sad really when you think about it. I know I could have just worn what I wanted and not care but I absolutely do not operate like that!

HeidiNotSoHeavy · 11/07/2025 22:19

@MJalltheway I know what you mean and yes of course it's not my first rodeo, have regretted getting rid of my bigger clothes before.
But I don't want to have the option - really want to have the clothes in a size I want to be, so if I have to buy new ones, that would hopefully get me back on the wagon, if I happen to fall off.
Also differing from all other weight loss attempts- this time it does not feel like a restrictive diet I can't want to finish, so I can go back to eating 'normally'. I am happy to eat the way I'm eating, and work out the way I am indefinitely. So hopefully this is the last time we all need to lose weight and buy new clothes because old ones won't fit.

TomorrowPenny · 12/07/2025 08:07

I’ve just read more than I’ve been able to for a while, great progress! Re getting rid of clothes, I’m definitely going to do that as I move along.

@Polkadotdash , really pleased to see that you’re on the mend and that your scales have moved.

@Thelittlestranger it was just three days on a ship 😅, not sure I could cope with three weeks, my young adults weren’t into anything going on onboard other than the pool at quiet times, weren’t keen on much of the food (fair enough) and very happy to spend quite a lot of time in our cabin. Anything more than three days would have sent me loopy ….. I read two books!

@RockyisMYRhino lovely to see you posting, well done on the loss. It’s hard to keep up with the thread and easy to feel like you’re out of the loop as it moves so quickly (well that’s me anyway) when you’re not on here a lot. I also bought some size 14 trousers for my trip (loose fitting) and they are great, I bought a more tailored size 16 linen trouser and I am a bit 😖that I can take them down without undoing the zip! Waste of money!

There was a lot of sewing talk earlier, I have said to my DD that I am going to set up my sewing machine and overlocker when I get home and make a few dresses. I used to do a lot of sewing, used to be able to pattern cut, but haven’t had time in recent years. I think if I move my office round a bit and leave it out I might get going again. Of course this prompted DD to find a really intricate dress pattern and ask if I could make it 😂. Err no dear, not as my first make.

MJalltheway · 12/07/2025 08:59

Morning all, packed and ready for hols today, not hugely looking forward to the motorway in the heat but hope won't be too horrendous!
You've all convinced me, the big clothes are all going. I really need this to be the last time.
scales reading 80.3, metabolic age now 56. Will see what a week off does to that!

@TomorrowPenny my 'thing' is making/decorating cakes, I'm pretty good. But DDs always somehow present me with fiendishly complicated, 5 tier affairs that they want for their birthdays!!! Not a chance! Good that they have confidence in me I suppose though 😵‍💫

Jins · 12/07/2025 09:00

Good to see you back @TomorrowPenny and glad your travels went ok.

Good tip @myladyjane. I’m clearing a lot of too big clothes at the moment but sadly the stuff I wear most is rather too forgiving. The same pair of flowy ‘festival’ trousers has fit between size 8 and a big 14. Likewise some sleeveless tops from Asda which are now only fit for house and garden are a size 10 but I wore them happily at my largest and didn’t feel they were stretched too far.

@discov well done with the vest top. Since menopause I wear them most days, usually layered but not always. I have the privilege of age and not giving a shit so comfort has always come first. I’m pretty sure you get a cloak of invisibility when you turn 55 which helps.

Half dosing every five days seems to be suiting me. I’m still in the 2lb range that I’ve been in for over a month but the last few days have seen small losses. My insides are much less turbulent. So I think that taking the mental pressure off weightloss has really helped.

Jins · 12/07/2025 09:32

@MJalltheway i would love to be able to decorate cakes. I can manage very basic designs but I mean basic. I’m not very handy with a piping bag but I think it’s more down to lack of vision and confidence.

I’m also incapable of putting flowers into a vase in an attractive way.

MJalltheway · 12/07/2025 09:50

@jins try Freddie's flowers! I'm also totally cack-handed when it comes to flowers, but they arrive with step by step instructions and they actually look good!
