@Opheliaaffrighted much like @Jins I don't want counting to take up headspace for me, so I counted a bit in the early weeks - more to make sure I was eating enough and to track protein, as I was only managing a few mouthfuls of a meal and a time and would have been significantly under 1000 cals a day.
I'm more recently, the steady losses reassure me I'm in the right place with what I'm eating, although sometimes you just have a sticky few weeks for no reason even though you know your intake is ok.
The first half of this week I've had a minor gain, which I will attribute to wine at the weekend. But instead of getting annoyed and saying what's the harm in another treat, I'm keeping straight and hopefully I'll be back on track by the weekend

Opheliaaffrighted · 01/07/2025 12:46

I’m currently eating 1350 calories a day. I spend most of my days thinking about food: mostly food I don’t want myself to eat. It’s constant and at regular intervals the voice inside my head says: ‘Just have that splodge of Gorgonzola, with some crackers, it’s just cheese from the farm shop and the crackers are covered in healthy walnuts and sesame seeds.’ I’m like Gollum/Sméagol homing in on the precious.

Thank you all for the really helpful advice. I’m minded to go ahead,

Opheliaaffrighted · 01/07/2025 12:57

I really wish I’d started in January so I could be part of this lovely supportive group. But hopefully I’ll find similar support, intelligence and humour (and people who sew, and retrofit pockets, and can do a pull-up) on a contemporaneous starter thread. Good luck all and many many thanks. X

discov · 01/07/2025 13:26

@Opheliaaffrighted sounds like it would be perfect for you. I could have a degree in nutrition and diets and have yo-yoed constantly over the years but never been able to get lower than 12st as an adult. I think about food 24/7 (well I used to!). MJ has just made that bit of my brain switch off and it’s bizarre but amazing. I’ve lost 3st since the end of Jan and I’m now 9st 2. I haven’t calorie counted at all but focussed mainly on higher protein and lower carb. I haven’t restricted myself at all though and just eat everything in moderation. It has been life changing for me!

MJalltheway · 01/07/2025 13:27

Good luck @Opheliaaffrighted , do pop back in and let us know how you're getting on.
i don't calorie count either, other than an occasional day tracking just to sense-check what I'm eating. I've totally overhauled my diet though, I do intermittent fasting, have cut out (where possible!) UPFs and drastically cut down on carbs.
I'd be eating the Gorgonzola, but with an apple or some nuts. I eat high fat foods as long as they're not UPFs, so have plenty of cheese and olive oil etc.
you just need to find the way that is going to work for you so that it's sustainable for the future.

HeidiNotSoHeavy · 01/07/2025 14:58

the weight blindness - some older photos pop up here and there. I look huge and bloated with a massive moon face and several chins. And those are the ones I liked at the time (the rest have been deleted), thought I look quite good!

Meeting a friend for drinks later this week that I last saw early January. Can't wait for his jaw to drop 😀

Thelittlestranger · 01/07/2025 19:21

On the calorie counting - I have done it all the way through. And I always did it before too. I have managed not to do it for over a week now. I put on a few lbs over the weekend after a few drinks, and lost it again this week. I am weighing daily to keep an eye on it though. I would like to never have to do it again if I can. I know what calories are in everything and can track in my head.

Last night I knew I wanted an ice cream at the cinema - haven't had one in years. I wasn't hungry, so I didn't have dinner and then enjoyed the cookies and cream delicious'ness 😜 That was my working round the calories 'normally.'

Thank you @2025istheyeari! I’m getting so nervous about tomorrow. I’m comfort eating tonight, probably because I will be nil by mouth all day tomorrow and partly as my usual stress response. Once I’m not pumped full of morphine I will check back in with you all!

by the way, did you see this study? Use of GLP-1RA was associated with substantially improved overall survival in women with ovarian cancer.

Thelittlestranger · 02/07/2025 08:06

Hope all goes well today @Polkadotdash !

Took a look at my Renpho stats today and they are all safely in green! 💚 And my age is now my current age (although in two weeks, it will make me younger!)

Pleased to have some rain here this morning and a little fresher air.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 02/07/2025 10:28

Hope all goes smoothly @Polkadotdash

mince3point14159265 · 02/07/2025 11:16

Best wishes for today @Polkadotdash and also for a speedy recovery ❤️‍🩹

BlueLimes · 02/07/2025 12:11

I also hope @TomorrowPenny is ok. Don’t think you’ve posted for a while.

I had a bit of a food and wine heavy weekend, managed to scrape a small loss.

week 24, dose 12.5mg. Average loss 1.3lbs a week (huge plateau April/May).

SW 12.2
GW 8.13
CW a smidge under 9.13

Have a great day everyone.

MJalltheway · 02/07/2025 17:37

Hope everything has gone well @Polkadotdash

Ive felt great today, seems like all of a sudden I've noticed more of a change in my stomach. Annoyingly my smart tape measure is out of battery though so have not been able to measure to see what's going on.
in today's class, ended up bent over double, hands on the floor, head between legs but facing the mirror so had a very bizarre view of my rear! And my legs and bum looked good! 😊 a very unusual experience!!

meatyryvita · 03/07/2025 07:01

I hope it all went well @Polkadotdash

Weigh-in today and it was a good one - 3.1lb lost! 3 stone 5lbs down and so I’m over half way to target.

SW 15:10 - 30th Jan
CW 12.4.8
GW 9.10

I remember reading threads from last years starters when I started my journey, never imagining I could be this far down the road.

A male friend at work looked suddenly slimmer in January and I complimented him (the old ‘you’re looking well’ euphemism!) and he told me about Mounjaro. I’d never heard of it. And just over 6 months later, I’m also ‘looking well’!

Well done @meatyryvita thats brilliant, bet you feel amazing!! Congratulations @BlueLimes, always good when you’re not sure how the scales will go and you see a loss, you probably didn’t have as much as you thought you did! @MJalltheway, all green, wow 🎉, phenomenal!!!

I wonder if @TomorrowPenny is on holiday or whether she’s taking a break as she said she may, I also hope she’s ok.

I’ve moved my jab forward over the last few weeks so I could take one tonight before flying tomorrow.
week 27 for me
sw 16 stone 3 1/2 ( 103kg)
cw 11 stone 8 1/2 ( 73.5kg)
gw 10 stone 12ish? ( 70kg)

I’ve lost 4 stone 9 pounds, or 29 1/2kg, 39.9% of my body weight which is staggering!! I feel and look so much better, really need to lose the flab but that’s a project for after holidays!

I left work this week and planned to have a restful few days but found out I’ve got an interview for a big job I applied for thinking ‘not a chance’. It is my absolute dream, the interview is on the Wednesday after I get back so I’ve been panicking about what to wear ( it’s quite formal and of course nothing I have fits!), I’ve found a me and em jacket I love on Vinted and I have a dress which is suitable and makes me feel confident. It’s the prep too, been furiously researching and typing up a document I’m going to pore over on our long flights to and Japan and then hopefully refine everything when I get back. We’re really busy and doing lots of travel in Japan so not chance there.

Anyway losers, sorry for the ramble. Thanks for all the support, I may not be checking in as much over the next couple of weeks but good luck, hope @Polkadotdash the surgery went ok, and that you all have a fab couple of downward weeks!

DGonMJ · 03/07/2025 07:28

Morning all, lovely to see some more losses and NSVs.
I’ve had a busy week so far and not been great with eating a high protein breakfast at home. I’m back down to 60kg again, and I’m feeling hungrier and craving treats when they’re around (which is everywhere, all the time this week) so I think I’m just not filling up properly on good food. And my tolerance for coffee has increased. So I think lower dose has definitely opened up my appetite for both sugar and caffeine. It also means I’m not getting to bed as early as I like!

Also missing @TomorrowPenny on here. Hope you’re ok.
Sending healing wishes to @Polkadotdash

Congratulations on the interview and best of luck! Enjoy recharging your batteries too.

39.9% is bananas - well done!
