Being freezing is my main side effect as well other than occasional constipation - have used my electric blanket every day since mid Feb and expect to use it all summer too! Completely worth it though!

Billybingbong · 08/06/2025 14:33

I don't really get constipated, but I do go less than before. I used to be every day, regular as clockwork, but now it's every 2 or 3 days. I figure as I'm eating less, there's less to expel.

Also, one thing I have noticed. I am not diabetic, but I used to get frequent dizzy & shaky spells, usually mid afternoon. I used to think it was low blood sugar, as a sweet snack would sort it. But I haven't had a single episode since starting the jabs, it's amazing.

Another little nsv this morning. I ran up my stairs 😁. Not so long ago, I would literally stand at the bottom and have to psyche myself up to haul my way up, clinging to the bannister. I set myself a little challenge to run up, and this morning, I finally managed it. I mean, it's only a normal house staircase, 13 steps, but even so, I did it!! 😁

ConfusedMiddleAger83 · 08/06/2025 14:40

Checking in on the new thread, I have finished my first month and lost 13lb, so close to a stone, only 9(ish) to go! I’m really pleased with that.

i didn’t have much suppression but less desire to snack and eat late at night. Moving up to 5mg for the next month to see how that goes. Only a tiny bit of nausea and some constipation as side effects, very manageable.

BagQueenBee · 08/06/2025 18:11

Update….

i was away last week for a weekend and put 2lb in, was in calories each day so it really surprised me, only thing is i had a few ciders….

anyway been back to normal this week and have lost 3lb so that’s a 62lb total….8lb to go for my 5 stone….

Lovely to read all the posts x

Lobsterteapot · 08/06/2025 20:24

Weighed Friday and had lost 3 pounds which takes me to 4 stone 1 off and altogether now:

Woah we’re halfway there!!!

Some reflections at my half way point:

Feeling so much better and moving so much more. Now in a 20/22 rather than 24/26 which has meant new shops - Matalan/Primark. Saying goodbye to the big girl premium - now paying £8 a basic tshirt instead of £15! Also bought myself a lovely Orla Kiely raincoat 😊

I’ve moved the wheel of my car closer to me and bought a 20 inch necklace rather than the 22 I was wearing. Also had a link taken out of my bracelet. I don’t snore and I’m not out of breath!

The big good thing for me though is I am now in diabetic remission!!!

Plan is to go ahead and lose another 4 stone and see how I feel at that point 😊

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 08/06/2025 22:37

Wow that is all amazing @Lobsterteapot 🎉🎉Lots of celebrations!!!! Well done 😁. I think sometimes starting from a bigger weight it sometimes takes a while to see the "wins" but then they all start rushing! Such amazing progress - all those things!

mamabeeboo · 09/06/2025 06:56

Checking into the new thread!

SW 144kg
CW 123kg

I've been struggling on and off since my holiday a few weeks ago, which shows that the jabs don't do it all for you. I have had to give my head a wobble and be strict with myself and ask "do you want to lose weight or not?!". Properly started back up this week and we are good to go.

I've found my sweet spot at 11mg 😂 and that's been holding me now for 7 weeks. Hoping to lose as much as I can because I'm so nervous about moving too far up the doses and having nowhere to go and lots more to lose.

My sister lives in the US and I was telling her about my weightloss. She is a healthy and active size 10. I could hear her humering me "well done keep going"... I don't think she realises that this time it's actually happening and I'm already down 3.5 stone. The weightloss isn't too noticeable now. But getting there!

Crossing my legs is now my new hobby!

mamabeeboo · 09/06/2025 11:05

Still at the early stages with 3.5 stone lost means that only some people are vaguely clocking that I "look a bit different". I still fit into all my normal clothes, albeit a bit baggy and not very flattering.

Can anyone say at what point is it that every stone or even every kg lost makes a difference? I'm really looking forward to that point so I want to try and make that an interim goal.

My guess is when you start to be a size 18 or so....?

Doggymummar · 09/06/2025 11:51

In the last six months I have gone from a size 16 to an 8-10 and people really notice now. In the 18 months before that I went from 24 - 16 and noone really noticed @mamabeeboo. I've lost over six stone in total, the last two, since Christmas have really made the difference. Still not healthy BMI yet though, long way to go.

TheZingyFish · 09/06/2025 12:11

Week 9 2lbs off
SW 24st 9lbs
CW 22st 11.5lbs
Total lost 1st 11.5lbs

First week on 5mg and had a few side effects of feeling a little nauseous but only lasted about 36 hours. Am really pleased with how things are going, this is so reassuring.

Small first NSV: I’ve only told two people, a close friend and a colleague. We only go into the office once a week and she commented that she could tell I was losing weight as I’m getting a bit of a waist back.
Second NSV: I took a selfie of my face when I started as wanted to see some progress at some point, have my original full body photos as well hidden in my phone, but I took another face selfie yesterday and can see a difference! This has made my day as I know how hard it is to see progress on yourself so I’m so glad I took the initial photos. Will do another full body photo and compare that later as well but feels real now!

How can you have a long way to go when you're already a size 8?
Is there a typo in your post?

Hello @MissFlimpkin and welcome to the thread.

I found that the desire for alcohol has left me.

I was never a big drinker, but generally had a G & T before dinner, or a glass of sherry afterwards. Also had wine when eating out.

I don't think about alcohol at all now. I know it's there in the cupboard, but I don't think about it. I don't even fancy it when we go out to eat, although I've enjoyed it when I've had it.

With regard to suppliers, do go to the price comparison site. I use Medino myself, and if anyone wants a code, PM me.

From past experience, I think it takes 4 to 5 stone for others to notice and comment, @mamabeeboo. I think people are not quick to tell fat women they've noticed they've lost weight in case they are wrong. I also noticed when I had a period of being 14 stone c size 16 people talked much more about weight and weight loss than they do when I am extremely obese at over 20 stone and size 24/26/28.

As DH was very unwell when I started in January and can suffer from acute anxiety, I didn't tell him. I was concerned he'd catastrophise potential serious side effects. So I'm still stealth - not really hiding it, just weighing/jabbing is not a couples activity!! He signed for my last delivery - clearly marked fridge item but didn't ask me about. Maybe he didn't notice the sticker. I will tell him when he asks and/or notices. We had talked about GLP1s in general and he wasn't disapproving. So I think he'll just say good decision and be glad that I am taking action to extend my life. He doesn't seem to have noticed that I'm eating less and have smaller portions. Part of that is that I was a secret eater. I wouldn't stop eating if he came into the kitchen whilst I was having something - but I often wouldn't start eating sweet or savoury treats while he was there. I'm mostly disinterested in those sorts of treats now.

I was already eating higher protein and fat - so the mix of my diet hasn't changed. I eat a lot less than I used to at breakfast, a meal I eat at a different time from him. I find I don't need to buy so many eggs now. I used to have a three or four egg omlette or boiled eggs and maybe bacon or 2 sausages. Now I have one or two eggs or one or two sausages (I know, I know...). I do occasionally eat a digestive biscuit if I have a very acid or sulphury tummy later in the day. I reckon I am saving £50-£100 per month despite buying Gaviscon monthly. I buy the groceries on DH's credit card so I haven't done the sums.

I've shed 36lbs to 273lbs and he hasn't commented yet.... I'm only down one size and/or clothing fits better. He did say a Lands End new to me size 22 fleece jacket in bright red really suited me. I wonder if he was unconsciously noticing my weight loss.

I still wear my size 24 turquoise and size 26 green Land's End fleeces. I enjoy the unusual feeling that they are baggy. The red size 22 was too snug around my hips, now it's just snug - not too tight. My uniform at the moment is jeans with a buckle less belt to cinch in the waist (it's smaller than my thighs), Land's End vest tops (new thanks to a Vinted bundle - various blues - becoming a bit big on the shoulders or a white or blue vests 20-22s) and a fleece. I am looking forward to the size 22s (I have a navy blue and a red one) becoming loose and recycling my size 26 & 24. I'll probably hospice shop them, rather than starts selling on Vinted.

Thinking of my losses to date in kilos makes me realise how much by volume I have shed - 16kg is a lot in 20 weeks. I need to check the weight of a big bag of basmati rice I bought for DH at Lidl to go with his curries. I think it's 15 or 20kg. I am no longer lugging that sort of weight around with me. I think of how much I've lost when I carry in the shopping from the car.

I almost feel more aware of the fat on my stomach, hips and thighs now than I did in January. The side bulge on my right hip is even more pronounced than on my left hip. I hope that evens up over time!! Odd to have lived with so much fat and to have been almost blind to it. I wasn't blind to the impact (going up stairs, picking up things, walking slower than other people) but I didn't really see the physical volume of fat on my frame. There seems so much now - and I'm hoping that another 60 something pounds off will result in me feeling much better and a svelte look - at least with my clothes on. Despite my impatience (and jealousy of you faster losers), I am good with my weight loss speed. I'm 66 so think my skin will retract less easily than when I last lost 9 stone (on shakes). So under 2lbs a week on average is good with me.

I do see a difference in my face - higher cheek bones and reduced chins, and feel the difference in the fit of my size 24 jeans.

I'm going to be in London for 10 days at the end of July. I'll be seeing family and friends so I've been planning my clothing. I also to be comfortable at home when/of there is hotter weather (rural by the coast, lots of retirees with high disposable incomes and clothing to match, and nearby touristy town). I usually the worst dressed woman in the parish!! I've bought a couple of pairs of size 22 blue linen trousers. I hope they'll fit if not now, within a few weeks. and one white and one blue linen shirts ( M&S 22-24) on Vinted. One of the pair of trews has not been dispatched so think that must be a flakey seller. It's taught me not to rely on Vinted delivery times if I were to buy something for a special occasion.

I've also bought two maxi dresses in a sale. One I am definitely keeping, and the other, I want to try on again. I tried it on without a bra on - and need to look at the fit. perhaps I need a size down.

I usually wear crocks. I am going to try to wear real shoes when I am in London. I don't know what style to try - I have wide feet and will be walking a lot on pavements.

I'm planning to start sewing again, so I can alter and/or remake the clothes I have to see me through the summer. I carry so much weight on my thighs, I think I could shed more from my thighs than my waist next, so it may be that not much alteration is needed for my linen trews. the shirts will just go from snug to looser. the vest tops will need taking in at the sides, and maybe in time at the straps.

I am disappointed that my BonPrix size 26 swim suit still fits. I thought it wouldn't fit. However it's good as I don't have to buy a new one. In fact I don't think I'd have got into it 36lbs ago! It just shows how variable sizing it. I have tried it on - but not yet been swimming.

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne - you've inspired me to get out my tape measure.

I've shortened the straps on my one "good" bra and use it on the second set of hooks. It's getting a bit loose in the cups- so I think I need to get a new good bra. I do have some lovely George bras that I had when I was 14 stone - so I'm a long way from fitting back into that cup size. I have some other bras that I've been wearing with a back expander - but they don't have underwiring and aren't a great fit in the cup. I think a good bra is essential when wearing a t shirt in public. I'll probably buy the same style in my new current measurements and just accept I'll need a new one when I'm another 20-30lbs down.

Thank you all for being here. I appreciate your posts and seeing your progress.

hi all!

I’ve just finished my 2.5 jab. Not sure whether to go up or stay for the next one. I’m losing but not loads.
SW 311 (Aug 24) / CW 274
have had 2 weekends away, first one I only put on 0.5lb, this one I haven’t even dared get on a scale! Was quite boozy.
I thought I was doing alright, a jumper that was tight last year, I tried on again and it’s definitely looser, was happy with that. Then I got on the Eurostar and put the table down…. Well it then hit my tummy! Grrrr!
onwards and downwards! Have a pair of 18 jeans in the wardrobe still with tags on, mission is to get into them by end of Sept. Currently a loose 22.
hope you are all doing well xx

TragicMuse · 09/06/2025 16:23

I went through all my old bras from storage bags yesterday. Have retrieved some for the next stage, these are a 40” band. I was wearing a 44” band but they are too big! The central gore isn’t sitting flat and the straps keep slipping off - which is really annoying!

Anyway, they’re all in the wash to get rid of storage bag mustiness. Then I’ll get to wearing them!

I’ve got a couple to get rid of, either donate or sell - I wouldn’t normally think about selling them but they’re Prima Donna which is a super-expensive brand and a few quid back would be nice!!

And then I really need to sort out what I’m actually getting rid of and whether I can be arsed to photograph and list it all!

Motnight · 09/06/2025 16:24

I've lost over 5 1/2 stone and apart from my DH and DD only one person has commented on it 🤣.

Doggymummar · 09/06/2025 16:32

No, I'm really small framed and all my weight has gone from top half which is an eight or xs in lots of sizes ten to be safe. Bottom is a 10 in elastic waists 12 in zippy jeans. According to Nutracheck I have three stone to be in healthy BMI range, and I am aiming for about 22 to give a bit of wiggle room

TragicMuse · 09/06/2025 17:17

See, that’s why BMI is a load of bollocks! It doesn’t account for things like that at all!

Well done @Doggymummar! That’s amazing and very inspiring to hear you do so well.

Doggymummar · 09/06/2025 18:20

@TragicMuse thank you, it happened all if a sudden really well it feels like it, but it's been three years, 2 on WLI and one before on fast 800 being really hungry, BMI is nonsense really I think but it's the only guide we have to what's healthy. If anyone has an alternative m I'm all ears,

weegiemum · 09/06/2025 18:35

Can I join you please? I’ve just done my first 2.5ml injection.

CW 173 kg (last time I was weighed, I don’t have scales that will bear my weight at home 😳). I’ll be able to weigh in again at the weekend.

I reckon I’ll have at least 12stone to lose, just to be overweight. My BMI is 60!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 09/06/2025 18:50

Oh welcome weegiemum (I recognise your name but not sure what from. I name change fairly often so that won't help!) This is such a supportive group of people. One of the best things I found both from this group and the first couple of months of mounjaro was hope - hope things can improve and that they will and I wish that for you ❤️.

52soon · 09/06/2025 19:32

I missed week 8 5mg Wednesday, was on antibiotics finished them yesterday so have done my jab today, will keep weighing day Wednesday but not expecting a loss with no jab. Have kept in my calorie deficit though really had crisp/snack craving's but didn’t give in. Second pen complete not doing extra dose following diabetic nurse instructions.

Doggymummar · 09/06/2025 21:08

@52soon sorry you were ill. It's the deficit causes the weightloss, not the jab so you might be surprised
