  • Hopefully no chub rub shorts!!
  • Wearing a fitted bra (I only wear the crop top types now as nothing else fits properly with the back fat)
  • Welcoming being in photos rather than dodging them
  • Not pulling my hoody over my lower face to hide my chins
  • Not wearing stretchy, high-waisted knickers/trousers/jeans
  • Tying shoe laces with my legs closed rather than being wide apart to accommodate my hanging belly!

Interestingly despite being over 20st I’ve never needed chub rub shorts but suffered from chub rub when I was a lot smaller. Maybe because I wear leggings?

lilacbreeze · 24/06/2025 16:12

For the girls who wanted fitted underwired bras but are still heavy you can get plus size band bras that are fitted in places like yours clothing.

eibbed999 · 24/06/2025 16:12

@SilenceInside The weight loss is fairly stable at around 2lb a week on average (some weeks 3, some 1), and I'm not over-eating at all, still within my range of around 1400 cals a day. I wouldn't want to eat less than that, but then again I don't really want to eat more either! Tricky really - it's the mental freedom I really appreciate, food being a pleasant and necessary part of the day rather than my sole purpose for living! It's good to practice some self restraint and will power too, but I feel a little unsettled to be fantasising about the Just Eat menu again! I could go from 2.5 to 3.75 and see how it goes. I'm on my hols in just over a week and didn't really want to change anything, as I currently have zero side effects - but the holiday will be a tricky time and the last thing I want is to fall face-first into a giant bowl of paella and never be seen again!

SilenceInside · 24/06/2025 16:16

@eibbed999 a 3.75mg dose sounds like a reasonable idea, and see how that goes before you're away on holiday. Hopefully it will do the trick!

I would be so disappointed if 1lb a week was the case. Just doesn’t seem worth the money for that

eibbed999 · 24/06/2025 16:20

@lilacbreeze - One person's disappointment is another person's happy dance!

SilenceInside · 24/06/2025 16:20

@lilacbreeze it's a long term process, and the 1 pound losses all add up. I've lost nearly 9 stone in almost a year, some weeks I've stayed the same, some I've gained a pound or two, some I've lost half a pound. The important thing is the overall downwards trend.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 24/06/2025 16:23

That's the normal rate of loss after the first few stone come off, though.
I lost four stone quickly (15lb in my first week) then it slowed down.

I've actually started losing less than a pound a week now. But it's fine. I don't feel hungry, and I've only got a couple of stone to go.

There are some very slow responders but they're unusual.

SilenceInside · 24/06/2025 16:29

Even then if I were a slow loser, the benefit of Mounjaro for me is the ability to remain consistent for long enough to lose multiple stones. No way would I have managed to stay on track for this length of time without the support it provides. Even losing 1 pound a week only, I'd have lost 50 pounds so far which is still a significant weight loss and better than staying at my starting weight or worse, gaining weight. Which given my history of weight gain would have been pretty likely.

TragicMuse · 24/06/2025 16:38

lilacbreeze · 24/06/2025 14:21

Did you get sick at all to begin with?

I had some nausea to start with, I now jab in the evening to try and minimise day-time nausea, but overall it seems to have decreased.

And I got a terrible dry mouth for a couple of weeks when I went up to my first 5mg pen, but that’s gone now.

I seem to be doing ok now with side effects, they’re barely noticeable.

I'm so grateful for this thread that there is support for people that felt the same way I did when it came to small places, airplane seats, checking weight limits, seatbelts etc.

Can we also have a list of things we are looking forward to once reaching goal weight???

  • shopping in the high street
  • wearing/walking/dancing in heels
  • fitting comfortably in seats/theatre/cinema
  • not researching weight limits beforehand
  • confidence
  • better sleep
  • looking sexxyyyy

PLEASE ADD TO THIS LIST! 😆

The lack of joint pain has been revelatory!

And I can walk without getting out of breath and knackered and needing a break every 5 mins.

I’m working at a festival next month and usually I’m knackered, I’m looking forward to being a bit fitter and more mobile!

SilenceInside · 24/06/2025 16:54

I am also looking forward to enjoying summer days out at various shows that we usually go to. Last year I would have been looking for where I could sit and rest, and how to manage being super hot and sweaty and generally not actually enjoying myself.

Another thing I want to do is a park run at some point later this year, once I've completed C25K. I would also like to find a pilates class too, used to do it years ago but stopped due to my weight getting in the way.

I typed out a smug post about being a smug bitch now I fit theatre seats again and it deleted. That'll teach me for being smug!
I'm looking forwards to my hips not hitting the tube seat rests again. I remember that being a quiet thrill when I lost a lot before.
I'm looking forwards to a comfortable summer next summer. This year I'm still sweaty, there's still some chub rub, but it's already soooo much less shit than last summer.
And i'm looking forwards to not always being the biggest person in the room. Someone always will be, and there's nothing wrong with that, I just don't want it to be me every time.

eibbed999 · 24/06/2025 17:13

My husband is younger than me by eight years. He's also very fit and has always looked after himself - irritating! I am looking forward to meeting people he knows and being introduced without me feeling crap about myself, like I am embarrassing him, or like the person is hiding their shock! (disclaimer: I know some of that is imaginary, but as @PinkArt says, it will be nice to not always be the biggest person in the room!) Also, and this undoubtedly makes me a Very Bad Human, but honestly I am also looking forward to being around people who I know have judged me and made me feel crap about myself in the past, and looking FANTASTIC. The ultimate revenge! Hope I haven't jinxed myself there...

@lilacbreeze I know you felt attacked in this group under another name, but this is an unnecessarily negative post about another user's loss. I'm also averaging around a pound a week at the moment and I'm thrilled with that steady, sustained loss.
Everyone in this group knows that their journey isn't going to be a short one but also that every pound, kg, half an ounce is a step in the right direction.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 24/06/2025 18:26

Adding to @mamabeeboos list (had to Google how to add bullet points!) My list has changed as the weight has significantly come off.

  • having the courage to wear a swimming costume on the beach
  • to undress in front of my husband
  • to not feel like a failure (winning at this one)
  • to be able to do a cartwheel!
  • to get my hubby to give me a piggy back or at least pick me up
  • to go back to Walt Disney world and not be a hot, fat, sweaty blob
  • to improve my life expectancy
  • to one day wear a sexy slinky dress
  • to genuinely like what I see when I look in the mirror
  • to go to the hairdressers and not worry about seeing myself in the mirror - same as above really
  • to not need a flight seatbelt extender for the first time ever
  • smiling at strangers
FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 24/06/2025 18:37

1-2lbs is absolutely the recommended rate of loss. It's a bit unkind to say you'd be disappointed at someone else's loss.

Bras - yes I used that website (and ChatGpt) and ordered a 2-pack from Yours! I can feel the "tight" band fits and why but it has given me bad "backfat" underneath. Can't win! I can just hope it changes as I lose the flab.

I completely empathise with the list... It was just this week I realised um self cleaning was easier and I'd just not noticed when it became so.

I've just googled camping chairs. I think next summer things will be so much easier. I hope. I flit between thinking "ooh I'm so much slimmer" and being aware there's still so much of me left!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 24/06/2025 18:38

Ooh yes life expectancy is a good one! Although I'm feeling quite low about finances right now. Perhaps weight loss will improve job prospects...!

I guess it depends how fat you are and how desperately you've tried to lose weight before. I've never lost massive amounts probably a handful of 4 or 5lb weeks the majority have been 1, 2 or 3lb at the moment I'm averaging 1.99lb/week. There is more risk of loose skin the faster you lose weight. My dad had a gastric bypass and lost 19st in 15 months he really struggled with his skin.

If you told me 39 weeks ago that I could pay you £1100 to lose 5st I'd have done it.

When did you start?

Edited to say: sorry, I've just realised that you answered this question on the last page.

Good luck with it, and let's hope you're one of the people who responds pretty quickly. Most people do.

As you’re starting tomorrow I strongly recommend you adjust that mindset now. You might well have future weeks where it’s ‘just’ a pound or less, or you stay the same. And if that happens you’ll need to deal with it without it derailing you.

I have used it before last year and was losing 10 pounds a week. Maybe

lilacbreeze · 24/06/2025 19:15

Maybe it will be different this time
