oh @PearlsPearl no words, just sending you a big virtual hug across the internet x

Iwouldratherbesinging · 23/06/2025 22:44

@mamabeeboo it’s so hard sometimes, I’ve wavered but something stops me at the moment, I don’t want to undo how far I’ve come, I think it’s the fear that’s good for me, you feel like have lost your buddy too so are having to go it alone, but you’re not really alone, I imagine he’ll be your biggest cheerleader and he knows exactly what you are experiencing. You haven’t undone anything as you’ve maintained, you haven’t gained, you haven’t lost either but that’s not as important as the not gaining so even though you say you’ve fallen off the wagon it’s just a blip. You’ll get your mojo back, look how far you’ve come already.
It’s finding a routine again, a proper reset to get you back, have a look at old photos, what do you love about yourself now? What’s easier for you to do now that wasn’t easy before. Don’t beat yourself up, what do you think your future self would say to you about how you are feeling now? 💛

Do you like sparkling water? I love adding sugar free Ribena to fizzy water, lots of ice and drink though a straw, the straw (for some unknown reason) makes all the difference for me.

I'm off on holiday for two weeks, to the land of Cornish pasties and cream teas, on Friday and I’m fully expecting to eat more than I should (I won’t be cooking) and I know I’ll struggle to get back into a routine, it happened to me after Christmas and Easter so I’ll probably need a pep talk!

I think everyone's experience of mounjaro is different. It isn't a cure-all. We have all come to this point for different reasons and different combinations of reasons.

Perhaps the plateaus come about because of that. We aren't combustion engines. How we react to food isn't simple. Losing weight isn't linear.

People do buy used bras.
I sold one today.
But I only sell bras which are still in good condition.

How much do you put them up for ?

people seem to want something for nothing on Vinted

I get they have postage on top so another £2/3 plus the charge they do

I sold another bnwt swimsuit 4xl I think it was so will post that today

slowly getting through my larger clothes

I use eBay for anything good then if it doesn't sell in three months I move it to Vinted to keep things fresh. You can research selling prices on eBay I sold a well used sugarcandy for 10.00 and a Boody for 6.00 this week. Bravissimo about 10.00 mands three pound.

PearlsPearl · 24/06/2025 09:08

@giggly thanks for the recommendation for the Lissie shop, I've booked in for next month! I'm close by. I have only wore sports type bras for years, I'm a small boobed person though, just a little B. But it's my 10 year wedding anniversary coming up so I'd like to shock DW by making an effort for once 😋

This post made me cry, because I felt every word, I have so many similar things written down, so much desperation and disappointment. I am giving this 100% and don't think I'd cope with this being a lose/gain cycle again.

I found this list of reasons why I wanted to lose weight a few years ago:

  • Too fat to fly
  • Didn't fit in chairs in dentist waiting room
  • Broke armrest off chair in hairdressers
  • Go into downstairs toilet sideways
  • “That lady’s really fat”
  • size 24 clothes
  • Dear Evan Hansen chair - literally couldn't fit
  • Christmas jumpers don't fit
  • can't wear trousers, only leggings
  • don't have "nice" clothes as nothing looks nice
  • can't shut my legs properly when sitting
  • Can’t cross my legs
  • Ugg boots don't fit
  • too wide for some toilet cubicles
  • Damaged the floor at work with my chair
  • feeling like my OH is too good for me
  • massive double chins
  • sore under boobs and belly and behind knees
  • Huge spots
  • can't go to theme parks
  • looking pregnant
  • feeling unprofessional at work
  • only being able to shop in very limited amount of places
  • standing up with chair stuck to bum
  • fat ankles so can't wear short leggings
  • fat feet so can't wear most shoes
  • broke a toilet seat
  • Pandora rings dont fit
  • Wedding ring doesn't fit
  • thighs rub painfully
  • Can't bike ride with DS
  • Can’t clean self properly
  • Cutting toe nails is hard
  • Can’t put knickers on standing up
  • Too hot in summer and miserable every day
  • Broke bed in the hotel
  • Couldn’t fit in cinema seat at all
  • Fit across two chairs in choir (and most places)
  • Can’t put arms down
  • Lipoedema out of control and will never be lost now
  • Getting mistaken for 9 months pregnant

Bless you @PearlsPearl - I suspect that is a list we can all feel some resonance with! In particular the toilet seats...I have lived in fear of these for years, after breaking several (including one in a very posh hotel room!). And the fitting into the cubicles - yes! Some of it is just a practical relief, but the emotion runs through it all as well. Added to it all the fact that the world in general (including us!) assumed we'd 'done it to ourselves', that we were fat because we were lazy and greedy and out of control. Now along comes a drug that goes a long way towards helping us break this cycle, and amazingly, it seems like it was all caused by something a bit more complicated that us being self-indulgent idiots! I am sad for past us too, and especially sad that I wasn't as active as I would have liked with my children - they are technically grown-ups now, ranging from 18 to 28. But we cannot change the past can we? We can just try very hard to change our future. Let's keep writing things down, and then we can celebrate the victories too!

WafflingDreamer · 24/06/2025 13:54

I probably have a similar list somewhere, wonder which things I can tick off so far. I think because its a slow journey I haven't really noticed the things that have changed. My parents bought us a table for Christmas and I was so worried as the weight limit on the chairs was 115kgs I think.

We have a divan bed which the kids used it as a trampoline but where it had to hold my weight it gave way. We couldn't afford a new one so put some wooden support under the mattress, I had started researching into a company that made reinforced beds.

My DDs play football and I wanted a chair so I could sit and watch but knew at 22st I was going to humiliate myself and either not fit or have the chair buckle under me. I ended up spending £60 on a reinforced garden chair that could hold up to 450lbs. Its huge now and also really heavy

Potato1234 · 24/06/2025 14:11

Hey guys. I’ve been MIA on mumsnet as I’ve had some personal stuff and just generally busy with life and my baby. Hope everyone’s doing okay!! I’m sure I’ll catch up with everyone’s updates at some point. I’ve been on MJ for almost 12 weeks now and as of this morning I’ve hit the 3 stone loss mark. I cannot believe it. I’m 15 stone 11lbs. Size 18 fits well/loose now. My dream is to get to a size 16 by September still!

I was looking at videos of myself from a gig in June 2023 and I thought I looked really good at the time, I really didn’t. No amount of make up, fake tan and great plus size clothing could help me. Looking at it now gives me some level of sadness for the past me. In contrast, im also full of hope that I too can be slim. I’ve never been slim. Being 9/10 stone has been incomprehensible in my mind.

Pretending to be happy all these years and convincing myself that I’m not as big as I am, or that my weight doesn’t affect me. I’ve felt hopeless about my weight for as long as I can remember. MJ has given me genuine hope for the first time in my life. Only you guys will get this.

Sorry to be a downer 😆 feeling reflective today

3 stone in 12 weeks is incredible, can I ask what doses you’ve been on in that time?

Thank you! I’ve been on 2.5mg, 5mg and 7.5mg. I have a 10mg in my fridge to start this weekend but I’m considering sticking to the 7.5mg. Ive not decided yet

Yeah, it was bad at the start, needed Cyclizine. But much better now :)

This all sounds very familiar...we had a new sofa that broke on one side (the side where I always sit!), a kitchen chair that did actually collapse while I was sitting on it...and while I was immobile after ankle surgery, every household aid I looked at had an upper weight limit way below mine. At least now you can get yourself a flimsy little garden chair to sit in!

I felt slightly sick to start with, but took cyclizine or dimenhydrinate.

I'm so grateful for this thread that there is support for people that felt the same way I did when it came to small places, airplane seats, checking weight limits, seatbelts etc.

Can we also have a list of things we are looking forward to once reaching goal weight???

  • shopping in the high street
  • wearing/walking/dancing in heels
  • fitting comfortably in seats/theatre/cinema
  • not researching weight limits beforehand
  • confidence
  • better sleep
  • looking sexxyyyy

PLEASE ADD TO THIS LIST! 😆

Wearing clothes that don't have to be stretchy.

Looking in the mirror sideways and realising I don't look pregnant.

Seeing photos of myself taken by other people, and not being ashamed.

  • Hopefully no chub rub shorts!!
  • Wearing a fitted bra (I only wear the crop top types now as nothing else fits properly with the back fat)
  • Welcoming being in photos rather than dodging them
  • Not pulling my hoody over my lower face to hide my chins
  • Not wearing stretchy, high-waisted knickers/trousers/jeans
  • Tying shoe laces with my legs closed rather than being wide apart to accommodate my hanging belly!

Looking for a bit of advice from those further along the road than me please? So, tomorrow is my 15th jab. I've been on 2.5 so far, and have lost 3 stone 3lb, so all good. I've noticed over the last few days that I've been thinking about food more - imagining Chinese take aways, looking at cakes, etc. It's nothing like I used to have when that stuff was completely dominant, but it is lurking a little. Nothing I can't control, nothing I have acted on (even resisted popcorn, hot dogs and pic'n'mix at the flicks last night!) but present. I think part of it might just be boredom - I have a lot of work stuff on and food would be my traditional 'go to' to treat myself and break the endless hours in front of a screen! - but I'm also wondering if it might be time to go up a bit? I know there is a lot of variation among you, which is one of the things I love about this thread - some of you went up every 4 weeks, others more slowly. And I know my body's signals might be totally different than yours - but in your experiences, what were the signs, if any, that it was time to move up? Aimed at those of you who didn't do it the every-four-weeks way I suppose!

SilenceInside · 24/06/2025 15:53

@eibbed999 I went up from 2.5 to 5mg after 4 weeks, and then stayed on 5mg for 6 weeks before doing 6.25 as a stepping stone to 7.5mg. I then stayed on 7.5mg for 34 weeks. I have recently moved up to 10, because the weight loss was slowing down to less than a pound a week. The levels of suppression and lack of food noise were fairly consistent, but it was the slowing down of weight loss that made me move up to 10. How is your weight loss doing? If it's going ok and you're finding the food noise manageable, then maybe it's ok to stay on this current dose. No harm in moving up though really if you wanted to either.
