I must say I don’t really like the way my weight and BMI being pointed out here by the same person in the way it has been done. Twice over. I myself and everyone on here are very aware of their weights and BMI’s. It doesn’t need to be repeated really. It’s disappointing..I was linked to this thread on one of my own posts and thought it was meant to be supportive.

I have marked the thread as a lot of it I do find interesting and I’m glad of the success some people have made using MJ. I am looking forward to hopefully mine

TidyWasp · 22/06/2025 17:54

If you're looking for support I would suggest you join in with the spirit of the thread in sharing your own journey/goals and celebrating with others rather than being needlessly antagonistic about what information people share in their own lives and their reasons for doing so.

zaicandy · 22/06/2025 17:56

Ok no worries

zaicandy · 22/06/2025 18:01

I am in Scotland and the buses here don’t have the arm rest things. Maybe id find it more difficult on the bus if they did. Some of the theatre seats are quite uncomfortable and I’m looking forward to them being more comfy

I meant that we take up a lot of room, even on a double seat, meaning that a second person cannot sit down.
I doubt if buses anywhere have arm rests.

I remember when I lived in Cambs some of the go whippet ones did but I was a lot smaller then 😆

@zaicandy this is a really supportive thread. It really helps that the majority of us have had similar issues because of our weight and have been able to share experiences and ask questions without feeling as though we are going to be criticised or judged.

Most if not all of us are very aware of the either silent or not judgements because of our weight and have been treated appallingly as a result. We get the feeling of being too fat to use public transport or to go to the theatre.

Yeah I get that, some of the theatre seats are small and I’d love to be able to go to a theme park again. First thing I’m going to do is go to Alton towers haha

TidyWasp · 22/06/2025 19:05

Horrifying feeling when you're on a bus and someone needs to sit next to you, spending the whole journey shoving yourself into the window trying to be as small as possible. Can't wait until I don't even have to think about what size a seat is!

Feeling quite virtuous today, did a 30min incline walk on the treadmill and prepared breakfast and lunch for the week. Then hoovered and mopped all my floors which with 7 animals in the house is a workout of its own!

zaicandy · 22/06/2025 17:34

No. I was picked on at school when I was 15-16 stone. I must say I’m a bit nervous about eating in front of people but I haven’t had any comments. I never thought about buses, I am epileptic so spend a lot of time on them. I guess it’s embarassing. I never thought about it.

I am unhappy with my own weight, of course, hence how I’m starting the meds. I appreciate some people are ok with being plus size but it’s not for me.

Luckily, I've never experienced unfriendly comments or behaviour regarding my weight either. Although I was morbidly obese (BMI 44,8) when I started MJ. I seem to be surrounded by nice people.😃
I was starting to develop health issues however. So that was my main motivation to start wli 4-5 months ago. Now down 17 kg (BMI 39,2).

thats good to hear. It definitely doesn’t require bullying re weight or being treated badly to want to get our arses into gear. I definitely had some horrible people in my life but none who mentioned my weight although im
sure they probably thought stuff about it. It sounds like some people on here have been treated very badly which is sad. Good luck on your journey, I too developed some health issues and sore back which I hope will get better with WL

For all of you buying new bras do look on Vinted.
They're selling even new ones really cheaply. Then you won't worry so much about wasting your money.

Do second hand ones sell? I have a Miss Mary bra which is fairly new, but worn obviously. Bras in that size are £50 each, so I’d like to know someone else can have it who might struggle to afford one. But I don’t think charity shops would accept it and I didn’t know if it was worth putting it on Vinted.

zaicandy · 22/06/2025 17:35

I know some people think being on the jabs is cheating but I guess it’s not something that really bothers me, aware everyone is different though.

im sure people have thought awful things about my weight now when they’ve seen me.

I think people who don’t know think we jab ourselves and the fat magically falls off with no effort, dieting or exercise. I don’t see it as cheating, I see it as enabling me to stick to a diet plan for as long as it takes.

Yes, they do. I've bought second hand bras, and sold a few of my own.

If you know your size you can get some good bargains. Even the new ones can be lovely and cheap.

Agreed - I’ve bought and sold bras on Vinted, it’s a great way to go down the sizes and to get too brands relatively cheaply.

They definitely sell, especially in the larger sizes, I sold all my old Elomi bras and they were snapped up within a couple of hours, have a search for miss mary of Sweden bras to get an idea of what they sell for

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne I have no idea what you mean about being judged………. just saw this on another thread about online dating and whether people should have to include their weight on their profile 🙄

I love posters like this, who are sooo bad at hiding their prejudices. The way that 'oh yeah it's a health thing' is chucked in at the end, trying to pretend they don't just hate the giant fatties for being so giant and fat!

Yup. Sadly people will sometimes think otherwise. But it’s none of their business

It’s fine. I have already replied further back saying much of the same. But thankyou.

I thought I would just jump in tonight as I usually just lurk. Been in MJ a year now and down almost 6 stones, slow and steady wins the race in my head.
Weirdly as someone who doesn’t use public transport that often it was one of the areas of my life that made me feel really fat as the spare seat, well I say spare, it wasn’t really a spare seat, more a suggestion that someone very small could perch on.
used a bus the other day and I fitted into just one seat, I could have cried proud tears.
Can’t wait to get on a plane in a few months and not need a seatbelt extension.
I started at 24.5 stones and now down to 18.7 , not an altogether pleasant experience as always have nausea/ burps/ constipation for at least 3 days following injection but I am so so proud for sticking with it.

On the bra front I have sold quite a few new and used on Vinted and they get sold straight away.
Im loving selling all my clothes as soon as they are just too big on to Vinted they go.
