@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne I have no idea what you mean about being judged………. just saw this on another thread about online dating and whether people should have to include their weight on their profile 🙄

OMG that's ghastly.

Over 50. Start weight 25st I haven’t actually decided on target yet. I start Jabs on Wednesday

zaicandy · 22/06/2025 16:22

I am 5 foot 7 so maybe 8/9 stone.

I have a milestone to share.

I've now lost 7 and a half stone.

Today I'm 12st 9lb after 18 months. I had a BMI of 50 when I started. I was over 20st.

Keep going, everyone. You'll get there.

Wahooooooooooooooooooooooo I am so excited for you! That is incredible! 🎉. You've done so well.

And super inspiring. I started at 50bmi, currently at 39.7 - I would love to be where you are at 18 months! (I'm 5 months in) It's such a normal looking number - it must feel amazing :)

Kay2000 · 22/06/2025 16:43

@zaicandy I’ve told people, friends, family, the lady in the butcher shop …🤣. Most people are supportive and interested however I’ve had a negative experience with a friend and we ended up arguing when I tried to tell her that because she’s gone up a stone in her 60s and wears a “horrific” size 14, she wasn’t fat and she tried to insist she has the same “food noise” as I do and I said she couldn’t have else she’d be ten stone extra like me. The fact is she constantly denies herself food. So that experience has made me more wary of sharing. If someone asks how I’m losing weight, I’ll tell them, but even tho I’m 3 stone down it’s only noticeable in my face and only close friends have noticed, so it’s not currently an issue. I agree with you, it’s nothing to be ashamed of but I do think many people look down on you if you’ve let your weight get so out of control. You only have to read comments on any article about weight loss injections to see the majority public view is “greedy pigs just need to eat less and move more”, so it’s understandable why some people want to keep it to themselves.

Hi everyone,
I posted a lot on previous threads but haven’t posted for a while

started 10/1/25
currently on week 2 of 10mg

sw 315 lb (51 bmi )
cw 260 lb (43 bmi I think it is )

very few side effects- achy joints - solved by magnesium supplement

occasionally a bit queasy

biggest win is probably not being affected by the heat we have just had- would have been insufferable last summer .

I might have dropped a clothing size but it doesn’t seem it - my stuff is a bit baggier !

my next mini target is 250lb - I hope to do this in the next 7 weeks ready for our first holiday abroad in a long time .

one thing that I am keeping an eye on- my mood is quite low at the moment, I know this can be a side effect (especially as I have struggled a bit historically, but I have been very settled for the last 3 years) but I’m 17 working days away from the summer holidays off after a long year , so hopefully I will get to spend some time on myself.

husband is also taking 7.5mg , he’s lost 3 stone , and actually went for a run this week 😱

hope everyone is doing well

Hi , when I started someone told me (I think on here )

don’t set a target 🎯

we have such an amount to loose , it seems insurmountable and every tiny set back will make you think it’s impossible.

instead set tiny goals (5lb , 10lb , under a next stone ect)

personally I did 10lb steps . It’s really helped me to stay focused and keep going, as well as having something to celebrate.

for example my next goal is 250lb . That’s what I’m focusing on, rather than thinking oh I need to loose 100 I’ll never get there .

well it’s working for me , and I have never spent 6 months sticking to any sort of weight loss before 😆

Your friend is probably jealous

zaicandy · 22/06/2025 16:58

As someone who vomited everyday on hormonal contraception, but can’t take cyclazine due to it lowering my seizure threshold I am slightly worried about nausea so going to ring my GP to prescribe something just in case

I’m thinking you are a troll? Why on earth would a friend who is a size 14, 12 stone, be jealous of me at ten stone heavier. Don’t be silly 🙄

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 22/06/2025 17:08

I've been musing about what I say to people recently too. I've lost enough that it is now noticeable BUT I still look quite obese and am still able to wear the clothes I was in...

  • There are 2 colleagues/friends who have asked me directly - they are large-ish themselves and I know aren't judging. I've half waved it off with "oh all sorts, drugs, sex, walking, food.... " and then when they did probe I explained I'm taking drugs for ADHD and for weight loss. I am trying not to "centre" the drugs in my mind but it was fine telling them.
  • Colleagues that just notice (most of my colleagues I actually only speak to or see every few months due to the independent way we work) I say "ah yes a long way to go!" or something. I'm not going there.
  • Family - this one is difficult. They haven't asked directly. They usually don't care as they are so self centred anyway. I am not yet sure how I will answer this. My mum is a vulnerable adult and I did mention "the drugs" were helping me walk more and she's been pleased I'm more active - but she has been judgemental in the past. I think she's just happy I'm looking healthier and I tend to steer away from details in general.
  • Good friends - I will tell if they ask. They haven't yet. I've realised my circle of these is actually small :( I don't have "besties" who know everything. Probably another reason why I am so grateful to you all.

My tricky ones - I have some NCT-type friends I see once a year for a few days. They have been SO tricky over the last few years and just planning active activities I just couldn't do. They never ask how I've been coping or managing with various difficulties and I know (probably from ignorance/lack of experience) think like many that fat people just lack discipline etc. They will notice this summer. I don't want to buy into confriming their bias "oh yes isn't it nice Fatsia can do more now she's looking after herself." I don't know. I might just say "lots of things - I think the counselling helped a lot as its been very very difficult times - drugs help too - lots of things!"

So your target would bring you to a BMI of 40.

Come off it. Nobody would aim to be morbidly obese.

You seem to be here to create dissent.

I have no friends at all so maybe that’s why it’s easy for me to tell people. Just family 🤣 my mum is unhappy about it

Oh no, I mean 8/9 stone is my target weight. Sorry if you misunderstood.

zaicandy · 22/06/2025 17:21

I am new so didn’t know target didn’t mean target weight to lose. So in that case it would be 16-17 stone.

Because small weight or not she sees herself as overweight even if it’s not thr case. Last time I lost 5 stone (not with MJ) my size ten sister got annoyed at the time I was spending at the gym. I think sometimes people are used to us being the fat friends iyswim. It hurts them to see us changing

Billybingbong · 22/06/2025 17:26

The only people I've really told are my family, a couple of close friends, and a work colleague. My inner circle. Everyone so far is really supportive, because they are close enough to know how miserable I was, and how important it is to me.

I don't consider my private medical info to be anybody else's business. I wouldn't tell everybody if I was taking statins or bp meds, so why should this be any different? My health, my choice, my business

zaicandy · 22/06/2025 17:26

I am not meaning to troll or anything I am just going by experiences I had.

So at 25 stone, nobody has ever shouted "FATTY" at you in the street?

Nobody has looked at you eating, and looked disapproving, as though you're not entitled to eat anything when your BMI is nearly 54?

You've never avoided sitting down on a bus because there's no room for you on a seat?

Really?

No. I was picked on at school when I was 15-16 stone. I must say I’m a bit nervous about eating in front of people but I haven’t had any comments. I never thought about buses, I am epileptic so spend a lot of time on them. I guess it’s embarassing. I never thought about it.

I am unhappy with my own weight, of course, hence how I’m starting the meds. I appreciate some people are ok with being plus size but it’s not for me.

zaicandy · 22/06/2025 17:35

I know some people think being on the jabs is cheating but I guess it’s not something that really bothers me, aware everyone is different though.

im sure people have thought awful things about my weight now when they’ve seen me.

zaicandy · 22/06/2025 17:37

If people have looked at me I have not noticed.
