Welcome one and all to our latest thread!

So much support and encouragement on here. Can’t wait to hear everyone’s continued achievements and NSVs.

Congratulations to everyone who has reached their goal and starting maintenance, and all the warriors still trekking on.

I still have a couple of stone to go. Feeling motivated and ready to go!

We can do this!

Hi all. I started the last week of Feb and have lost 2 stone. I tend to lose a bit and then remain the same for 3 or 4 weeks at a time. Ive just moved to 7.5mg and have taken my second jab from the pen this morning. I haven't noticed any difference from 5mg really. I still crave chocolate and crisps but its easier not to go mad on them and binge. I must be someone who doesnt have as much of a response! Wondering if to go up to 10mg after this pen. I did 2 months on 5mg.

HoratioBum · 25/06/2025 13:44

@flipflop76I pretty much have lost the same as you in the same time and in the same way. I’m a slow loser, currently going into the third week of a plateau. always have been, and I’m coming to terms with it. MJ is allowing me to stick to a diet much longer than I ever have before, so I’m trusting the process. I’m currently on 10mg as I whizzed up through the doses because I didn’t think I was getting a huge amount of suppression. Now I’m on 10 mg it just feels right. I just go about my day not thinking about food. I do feel hungry, and look forward to eating. But I can stop when I’m full and not want to eat ALL THE FOOD just because it’s there. I didn’t feel like this on the other doses. Nor do I know if this is optimal, or how most people feel. But it’s definitely different to the other mgs, so I’m going to carry on until I no longer feel like this or the suppression wears off. The difference is it feels like a mental change he as well as physical.
I don’t know if that’s any help. Everyone is different. I think there’s a lot to be said for going up slow and steady and giving yourself time to adjust to each dose - I worry that if I pressed on to 15mg where would I go once that stopped being effective? I don’t feel I NEED it just now. But if you feel you might benefit from 10mg then go up - you could always try an inbetween dose of 8.75 or so and see if that works?

Thank you so much, this is so reassuring and helpful. Glad 10mg feels like a good dose for you. I think if I still feel fine for the next week or so on 7.5mg, I might go up to 10mg for the next month and then try and stay there for a bit. Will see how this next week goes!

OvertiredandConfused · 25/06/2025 14:32

@HoratioBum and @flipflop76 I've just gone up to 10mg having done three months on 7.5mg. I'm hoping to stay on this for a few months. 5mg was useless for me. 7.5mg was pretty good but timings of my holiday meant I went up probably a month earler than I otherwise would.

Two big wins for me today. I hit a 4st loss since late January. And, a huge NSV I can properly fit into work uniform trousers for the first time since 2018!! As a senior manager, I don't have to wear uniform but there are some occasions when I like to be able to do so.

I'll be away from mid-July to early August and expect to gain a bit during that time so I'm going to use the next few weeks to loose a few more lbs that I know I may regain meaning I may start August about where I am now. If I can do better, that's great but this is all part of making this a permanent change so I'm making my peace with that!

SpiralSister · 25/06/2025 14:44

So, I went to the gym today, for the first time ever. Fortunately I had the most patient young man imaginable, who was unfazed by my snorts of disbelief when he suggested certain exercises. Did it all though. Even though I was making a noise like a pigeon cooing at one point, according to him!

I think we’ll get on😂 I’ve booked for next week..

Zibb · 25/06/2025 16:16

Today I wore a dress with no shorts underneath and noticed my thighs don't really rub together anymore! They still touch but it's more like chub caress now rather than aggressive chafing 🤣

Mounjaroday · 25/06/2025 17:49

Haha was just about to come on here and mention that too! 😂

Just going to show off a little bit for an NSV I had yesterday, 18242 steps!

The stars aligned and we managed to set up a family meet up yesterday morning for the first time in over a year. My sister and husband flew in overnight for a wedding and happened to be driving almost past my town on the way there, their plane was on time (landed at 7.45 am) I managed to get the day off, mum came down from the Midlands, all so we could meet up for breakfast for about an hour.

My sister was shocked by my weight loss, said she didn't even recognise me for a minute, my mum said I looked taller too (less spine compression and a bit of confidence I guess) and was so happy for me. We had a great face to face catch up, I still can't believe we managed to pull it off.

Since it was a nice day, I took mum for a spur of the moment trip to St Paul's cathedral, she went as a child and has wanted to go back for a while. There's an area you can only get to by climbing 528 steps where you have an epic view. I would never have thought I'd be able to do it before, but I did it, out of breath at times, through narrow areas I'm not sure I would have fit through before, but worth it to stand outside the top of the dome. After all that, I still came back and went to the shops for a few things after an hour's rest in a coffee shop.

I would never have been able to physically manage any of this at my higher weight, I would have been in agony after less than half the walking. My ankle was a bit sore but is fine today, no stiffness or lingering pain. I'm honestly in shock at how different things are now and I'm not "working out" intensely, just keeping moving etc.

Oh, it's too late to edit my other post but need to chime in about the varicose veins.

Holy shit, I have 2 absolutely massive ones. 1 in each leg. They are so lumpy and awful! I actually got them while I was pregnant 7 years ago but the constant weight gain over the past 6 years plus a job where I am on my feet for 8-12 hours a day has made them sooo much worse.

The one in my right leg starts in my groin and is a huge bulbous knot and then goes allllll the way down my leg in great big waves and lumps.

Exact same here but in both legs, waiting on an appointment to get them sorted out, fed up of them now, I can see them through my trousers they are that bad.

PerditionCatchMySoul · 25/06/2025 21:55

Has anyone just bare faced lied about being on monjaro? After thinking for months “of course it’s easy to avoid telling lies, you just don’t bring it up.” I’ve lied to the faces of 5 people TODAY about being on any injections. Ppl are so judgemental I can’t be dealing with it. They asked me outright and I just said no. Now I’m worried I’ll die of pancreatitis and it will all come out at my funeral and they will think “serves her right…,” 🙈🙈🙈🤣🤣🤣

Mounjaroday · 25/06/2025 23:30

Must say, I admire your ability to lie your head off keep a secret @PerditionCatchMySoul! Seriously impressive!

Can’t sleep so mucking about reading stuff. Found this bizarre article on the daily mail:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-14846877/pancreatitis-fat-jabs-killed-10-health-chiefs-warn.html

… which includes the frankly ridiculous claim that:

Side effects continue to be a significant burden on the NHS and studies have shown they account for one in six hospital admissions.”

One in six? In SIX? Bullllllllshit. Nice try, Daily Mail. There’s just no way that’s true.

Obviously the article totally fails to mention the lifting burden for the NHS now that less of us are obese.

Also feeling so sorry for this poor nurse’s family. The DM keep on wheeling out this photo of her and have made her their anti WL jabs poster girl. That absolutely sucks.

It’s exactly this type of scaremongering article that very nearly stopped me from starting this journey. Thank god I did!

Organ-destroying fat jabs side effect already killed 10, experts warn

Officials are examining whether those affected have a genetic trait that leaves them at greater risk of side-effects from the likes of Mounjaro, Wegovy and Ozempic.

I think it’s because of the way it’s always asked: “you’re not on monjaro are you?” “Have you done it the right way?” “At least you haven’t been tempted by the jabs.”

I wish I had more supportive people around me. 😔

Ah thats interesting, was just reading a Guardian article about pancreatic issues and Mounjaro and the 1 in 6 apparently relates to " one in six hospital admissions are due to adverse medication side effects", but that refers to all medicine, not just weight loss injections. Mail are wankers for misinformation.

ah yes: have you done it “the right way” … for me that would have been trying and failing, then failing again and feeling miserable all the time.

Edited to say: this group has been such incredible support and encouragement!

Plus people can have side effects related to weight loss when they're NOT on Mounjaro eg gallstones. These scare stories are ridiculous.

Madness

For me the 'right way' would be pretty much starving myself and doing cardio every day.

With MJ I was eating a decent amount of cals (15-1700), prioritising protein, doing strength training and the weight fell off. But people would rather I done it the original way.

Ah, but if you haven’t suffered, have you even lost weight?! (*Sarcasm)
I swear some people want everyone to be miserable on a weight loss journey so that they can feel morally superior about their own weight.

HangryGreenGoose · 26/06/2025 19:27

Silly question.
has anyone jabbed their bottoms, was just wondering if you could as you can inject into fatty areas. I know we can do stomach, thighs and arms.

HangryGreenGoose · 26/06/2025 19:30

absolutely love reading all your posts, you are all so inspiring 😊

A wee recent NSV on clothing - I've had to size down to a 14 on one of my shirts because the 16 was looking a bit like a parachute on me. And the Matalan vest tops I wear I've had to size down in also - they're big made and I was in the 14 forever, and now I'm in the 12. I'm under absolutely no illusions about the vanity sizing - it's not the size itself that's the NSV but the fact I'm slowly starting to size down. 😊

Nomoretopswithblacktrousers · 26/06/2025 20:25

Neighbour commented to DH on my weight loss and how often she sees me out and about in my orange walking cap. Totally out of the blue and made me happy. Should say I lost 4.5 stone before starting mounjaro so she's seen me at my fattest.
