Welcome one and all to our latest thread!

So much support and encouragement on here. Can’t wait to hear everyone’s continued achievements and NSVs.

Congratulations to everyone who has reached their goal and starting maintenance, and all the warriors still trekking on.

I still have a couple of stone to go. Feeling motivated and ready to go!

We can do this!

@usedtobeaylis
How old are you. My hair was falling out non stop around the menopause. I took lots of supplements but nothing worked.
Stopped of it’s own accord and no reoccurrence with the jab.
I’m low iron too.

Mid-40s. Perimenopause is definitely sniffing around - actually the 2.5mg dose of Mounjaro was excellent for the brain fog but the higher goes haven't helped with it at all. But the hair loss started in April-ish so I feel sure it's the weight loss rather than perimenopause. It will hopefully start slowing soon. Luckily I also chanced upon a decent hair mouse that actually does seem to thicken the look of my hair.

Something I've noticed today in the shower as the sun was streaming in the window - stretch marks on my thighs. I've never really had visible stretch marks so it's a bit disappointing they're visible on my way down the weight scale. But I don't mind them too much.

On the subject of perception I always think of the late Nigel Lawson. When he lost weight in retirement, I thought, “gaunt”. But he wasn’t gaunt. He just wasn’t the big bear of a man I remember from my childhood in the 1980s.

Nomoretopswithblacktrousers · 21/06/2025 13:56

I find Biotin helpful in preventing hair loss. My nails have been breaking more frequently though.

Clothes shopping today. Happily fitting into size 12 shorts and trousers in a few shops. Even if vanity sized, I'm still pleased. Think my weight goal which is under 6 kg away now should be just about right.

HoratioBum · 21/06/2025 20:14

Well done everyone - so interesting and heartening and encouraging reading all of your different stories. I’m fascinated by the way we all interact so individually with our bodies.

I have to keep reminding myself that we only get this one body and we have to accept that on one hand it’s the one we are given and it is flawed and full of the history of our ancestors. We can only stack the cards in our favour so far.

My inheritance is big boobs and wide hips and looking back at the women in my family I have to be honest about what my eventual ‘slim body’ will look like. We look like tubby peasants even when quite small because we are short and thick set. So I am trying to be realistic about my post weight loss body because I have had to accept that it will never be instagram perfect. And that’s ok.

Dumplers · 21/06/2025 22:59

Second jab of 7.5 and supression unreal.
If you read my earlier posts I had put weight on during my hols but now lost it all plus a lb. 3lb loss this week (whoo hoo).
All I've had today is a protein drink, a handful of cherries and a bag of low calorie crisps but could only eat a few of them. Unfortunately too many alcoholic drinks, they're going down a bit more than usual but nothing like they used to do.
Watching 'beard meets food', a guy who does food challenges. How can he eat so much and still be skinny, made me feel a bit nauseous tbh. He ate 20 slices of cake. Eurrghg, cake, something I could live of pre mounjaro but just the thought of it now 🤢.
Hope everyone is ok, love your posts. Xx

Marchintospring · 21/06/2025 23:43

I’ve not lost loads either. From low 12 stone to high 10 stone.
But it’s 4 months and it’s been a completely painless loss. That’s the main point.
First week “off” has been ok. But obviously weather has helped. Drinking loads which hasn’t. I want to shift the tummy so need to cut out sugar and carbs …and alcohol. But a stone loss kick start is fab , very motivating.

Housewife2010 · 22/06/2025 08:24

Just had to tell someone that I'm on week 20, have just weighed and my BMI is now 29.9! I'm so thrilled that I'm finally OVERWEIGHT! 🤣. I started at BMI 38 (obese category 2) on 5th February, and last saw 12 st 6.2 eleven years ago! I love Mounjaro! Another 2 st 9 to go to get to a BMI of 23.5.

stargazer02 · 22/06/2025 08:48

Started valentine's weekend and 50lbs down - vague goal is see how I feel at 11-12 stone range (so I'm about half way)
I don't feel any different. My bras are pretty much the same size - a cup size down- , I'm still wearing most of the same clothes - again only one dress size down. I don't really see it in the mirror except my face had been quite puffy and it's not now.
I look at my 8 year old kid who is just over 50lbs and think HOW have I lost your entire weight and not notice. Noone has mentioned I look different.

Feel a little down and the binge eating has crept in a little, for a day it was really bad but I felt really unwell so have dialled that right back. My suppression was never as good as some others felt, and I've just gone up a dose a fortnight ago and not really noticing any suppression.

I am noticing spider veins and varicose veins though!

MynameisJune · 22/06/2025 09:02

Happy Sunday everyone

Weighed myself today and have lost 1lb of the 2lb I put in last weekend. My period arrived so I’m guessing that and the heat it will be water retention but it’s annoying that even with MJ my body is still acting in this way 🤣

I wear shorts even with cellulite, loads of people have it. And I’m sick of hiding away and boiling in long dresses or whatever.

But my brain is definitely struggling to see the difference between Feb me and me now, I catch sight of myself unposed in a mirror and I still look the same as I did 44lb ago. More mental work required.

I've discovered I have a lipoma on my shoulder. These are very common apparently (at least 1 in 100 have them). No idea how long it's been there but maybe the fact the bones of my shoulders are now more visible has made the lipoma easier to see?

I bet it’s that! And also, the varicose and spider veins that @stargazer02 mentions above.
Mine are terrible- one in particular goes down from top of thigh to calf. I wondered why it had suddenly got so bad - but of course - a 3 stone weight loss has made it closer to the surface! 🤦🏻‍♀️

It also hurts now. Which I reckon must be psychosomatic..

Mounjaronewbie25 · 22/06/2025 14:12

Highest weight - 16st 9.5
Mounjaro SW on 15.2.25 - 14st 12
CW - 11st 10

Loss this week: 2.5 lbs
Total loss on Mounjaro: 44 lbs (3st 2)
Total loss overall: 69.5 lbs (4 st 13.5)

Sooo close to 5 stone total loss now!

Me too - low 13 stone and edging towards mid 11s. It does feel a little frustrating when other people have lost 50+lbs, but I can see a difference and I'm getting close to a healthy BMI and that's what's important! Would love to be a size 10 though!

Thank you for the reassurance. The joys of weight loss!

Varicose veins can become very painful. Unfortunately most treatment for them has to be paid for which is just wrong.

strongermummy · 23/06/2025 02:54

Oooohhhh
dangerously close to a healthy BMI!

Jab 17. On 6.25 MJ (50 clicks of 7.5 pen)
Total loss 15kgs (18%)
weekly average loss 600g

5-10kgs more to go I think to GW….

have not been this weight for years!!

mumandgran24 · 23/06/2025 07:30

So seen this morning that the NHS will now be prescribing WLI directly through GP’s. But to start you have to be BMI 40 or more. So I would have qualified back in Feb when I started my journey but not now so bit annoying, but the health improvement has been worth every penny.

But I do think it’s the right move and will help a lot of people who could not afford to go private or would not take it without it being directly under their GP.

I did wonder though could this lead to a blip in supply as more people are in a position to start taking the medication.

Hubby suggested I buy my next pen early just in case, but if ev1 does that that will definitely effect supply.

what do you guys think, also will anyone on here benefit by being able to move over to the NHS?

Febnewbie · 23/06/2025 08:04

I'm not overly worried about supply as I would expect that the NHS worked quite closely with pharmacies on this so it's all been prepared for.

I think it will also take GPs a while to start prescribing in large numbers

It’s the stuff no one tells you about, isn’t it? I hope the lipoma isn’t too troublesome for you. It’s kind of odd to realise that getting thinner doesn’t necessarily mean you look great in all areas! My lower tum looks worse for sure, boobs aren’t as full and lush, the VEIN 😂 etc etc. I’ll take it all though. All of it, to get to be a healthy weight.

Oh btw, a GP told me that the NHS won’t touch your varicose veins until they ulcerate now. Nice. Something to look forward to in old age 🤦🏻‍♀️

I would also predict that this will move at a glacial pace..

Jab day, start of my third 7.5mg pen-

SW 107.8kg
GW 88kg
CW 86kg!

After a couple of weeks of stagnating, I've had a mini woosh which I'm very pleased about. My intention has been to maintain, but of course if I lose a couple of extra kgs in the process I won't complain.

Have good weeks all!

Sarahyorks · 23/06/2025 10:12

Hi i took my first 5mg jab yesterday.
This morning iv had to run to the toilet and now feel sick, hoping it wears off. I had hardly any side effects on 2.5 and lost just over 2 stone with it but these last few weeks I have seem to come to a standstill.
I too have a varicose vein I got it whilst pregnant 28 years ago, I had it removed a few years ago on nhs, it has since come back worse on same leg in a different place. The doctor did warn me this would happen and I now wish I would have just left it.

usedtobeaylis · 23/06/2025 11:19

I have had the worst two days eating-wise since I started this - one day of the weekend was a birthday and I was over my calories (although only had one sugary treat!), the other day I was at an event and there was no food to be found that wasn't either out of a vending machine or an expensive wilted cheese sandwich so I ate about half my calories all day 😆It was all my own fault as I was so disorganised, I've usually got no qualms about taking my own food somewhere but for some reason I just didn't even think. I also had minor sulphur burps both days and despite trying to be discreet it was commented in the car which was quite mortifying 😂 Luckily they know I'm on Mounjaro so I could just say sorry, it's the meds, they're making me burp 😬👀

Oh no! Sorry to hear that. I’m kind of pinning my hopes on surgery and it is bloody pricey, plus no walk in the park either from what I hear.

mumandgran24 · 23/06/2025 14:13

Finally broke the 14 stone barrier on this mornings weigh in yay. Also had a NSV last night when my teens commented that they can tell I am feeling better and fitter as I no longer make a whoosh when going downstairs as I used to lean on the wall as I walked down rather than a proper balanced walk lol. They were also shocked when I put shorts on the other day about my legs- no Chub rub in the heat for me so far this summer.

Also what are people doing about wedding rings? Mines pretty lose already.

My wedding ring is loose too, but unlikely to lose it as arthritic joints! Small mercies 😂

Having said that, I don’t wear my engagement ring or my solitaire emerald and won’t be until I’ve reached goal and get them adjusted - they don’t come off but they do wang round and I worry about scratches.

Apparently though, you can get some gadget to wear in the ring that keeps it on? I expect Amazon will provide!
