So much support and encouragement on here. Can’t wait to hear everyone’s continued achievements and NSVs.

Congratulations to everyone who has reached their goal and starting maintenance, and all the warriors still trekking on.

Week 18, Day2

Second 1.25mg taken yesterday. Again been pretty hungry but got period today so could be that. My weight has stayed the same the past few weeks which I'm very happy with as been eating more.

I would have liked to have got a few pounds under where I am just now for 'wiggle room' but it's difficult to lose a pound now nevermind a few.

Bought some clothes from vinted, still lack that confidence in myself that I'll keep this weight off so been reluctant to buy new things. Saying that, I love vinted anyway :).

Wearing a pair of size 8 jeans from a shop very well known for its vanity sizing which is nice, but compared to some of the vintage size 8 stuff I've bought (which is far too small) they're massive. Why do shops do this??? Well I know why but its so frustrating.

afternoon all!

after 2 weeks plateauing ( is that even a word?) I had a whoosh and just suddenly dropped 2lb. However that has coincided with awful watery diarrhoea for the last two days so I’m not getting too hopeful yet!

This has happened before however, I lose a few pounds, then plateau while my body catches up, then a whoosh, then steady loss for a bit, then another plateau. I’m resigned to it now - the scales continue moving in the right direction which is all that matters!

so great to hear of everybody’s recent losses and NSVs - my baseball cap has needed to be tightened, so I’ve obviously lost some weight off my noggin. It’s so weird where we lose weight from isn’t it? I think while I plateau my body casts around for places to lose from ( like my head, wrists, ankles etc) before giving up and saying “OK FINE. HAVE SOME WEIGHT OFF YOUR ARSE, SEE IF I CARE!”

Loved this. Thank you for the giggle. And I had to adjust my hat today too.

Our weight loss patterns sound familiar. Well done on the whoosh. Hope the digestive system gets back in line.

It’s my bday tomorrow, and I even have a day off, so am tempted to go blow some cash at Bravissimo. But then I wonder if I’m really “finished” and may end up needing smaller size again. Reluctant to waste money on “interim” clothing, but I have to wear something that fits occasionally, instead of wandering about in trousers that are falling down and bras that are holding tiny pebbles, where once they were boulders….

Happy birthday for tomorrow.

In regards to clothes I've tried to buy clothes that I can have tailored in, once I've finished losing weight. I know how much my tailor can and can't change clothes so that's what I'm banking on.

Bras are of course difficult. I bought a few from M&S that will do for this stage and hopefully I won't lose too much more from my norks....

Hilarious 😆 I agree the weight loss is so random. Have lost weight off my fingers and feet, totally not necessary, just take it from my belly Kay? Thanks! lol.

I’ve also been experiencing the no movement for a week or two then a random large drop in weight. Back in my Slimmingworld days that would have irritated me no end, sitting in group with people asking what must you have done wrong this week to not lose any weight and feeling so frustrated because you’ve eaten the exact same. Luckily now it’s only me and my scales (and all you lovely anonymous mumsnetters) who know if I don’t lose weight from one week to the next lol.

CoolLimeSheep · 15/06/2025 14:19

I completely agree with you all I cant even wear my engagement ring now ( not getting a new 1 till im done)and I certainly don't want lose anymore on my legs lol just my tum and I agree with slimming world comment too.
Im joining reshape at my local leisure centre for some tips and advice so when I finally off mj I keep it off.
Is anyone having multi vitamins and collegon while on these injections? Ive started multi vitamins but someone's recommended collegen too any advice will be great!

strongermummy · 15/06/2025 16:55

Congratulations all of you with your various victories and “may the force be with you” for those frustrated with plateaus

im also on a little plateau. I’m putting on and taking off the same 500g……!! I’m just over a healthy BMI and I’ve lost 12kgs (4 newborn babies!!). So. I’m hopeful that I’ll keep going to my mid healthy BMi GW in due course.

my size 16 jeans are now way too big and friends have been commenting I need a new pair. However size 14 are still slightly too big but size 12 is too small……. Am holding out for a couple more weeks before investing in “interim” casual / non work clothes!!

(for work I have a whole other wardrobe of size 14 / 12 I haven’t worn in 10years!!!)

strongermummy · 15/06/2025 16:58

One of the challenges I am struggling with is how few calories I need per day just to maintain my current weight, let alone lose weight.
it’s shockingly low.

so those signs up everywhere now “the average adult needs 2000 calories a day” are so misleading.
it appears I need less than 1500 calories a day just to stay the same weight. That’s barely anything at all. If I ate 2000 calories a day for the rest of my life thar would mean putting on weight every year!!!

im a 5’3 woman with a muscular build….. how tall would I need to be to only need 2000 calories a day….!?
Much taller than I am now!!!

That seems low for your fitness level. Did you end up looking into the macros calculator info I sent you?

Zibb · 15/06/2025 20:30

I've been feeling a bit unmotivated and a bit lost. Perhaps even sabotaging myself a little bit. Unsure why.

But last night I had a discussion with my husband about loose skin and surgery and all that. Surgery to fix all the loose skin will be out of my budget so I'll have to come to terms with that. However, we worked out that I could afford to save for the next few years to get a breast reduction and lift. I've never had boobs smaller than an f cup (even at 9st, the band size goes down but the cup barely changes) and I have always hated them.

So that is my new motivation. Get to goal weight, maintain for 2 years whilst saving as much money as possible and I will get the boobs of my dreams. I think I could deal with the loose skin on my stomach/legs etc. if I felt good about my chest. Never having to worry about a bra or top not fitting over them.

I am motivated and on it now! Smaller boobs here I come 😁

SansaClegane · 15/06/2025 23:05

@Zibb thank you so much for putting it into perspective for me!! Really needed that. Sigh. Yes we can do this!
And you're right, I probably didn't drink enough water this week & maybe a little too much alcohol instead...! Oh well. Next week will be better.
Hope you are doing ok too?

CoolLimeSheep · 16/06/2025 06:43

@Zibb I too have been looking at tummy tucks myself i defo have apron hang. I too feel like this is something I cant afford but would want. I also would like a breast reduction as my back size changes and not the cup size I've complained to the Dr's for years and they've always used weight as an excuse even tho I was always slim till I had my four kids. And the price for big boobs just for a bra is shocking!
That really is a good goal and I think us with big boobs always look bigger because of them no matter what weight we are!

Agree the 2,000 calories a day statement is not accurate. I’m finding that if I eat more than 1,200 without exercise then I gain.

@Zibb @CoolLimeSheep am also big breasted. Used to love having big boobs but now long for neat little ones. It is always such an expensive PITA buying bras!!

Dream world would be a drawer of cute little inexpensive bras in all sorts of colours.

I am feeling very despondent today, weighed myself on Friday and I was 163lb, went to the lake district with my husband for the weekend, lots of walking, did eat out but just had breakfast and then a main meal in the evening. No dessert, one alcoholic drink that I couldn’t finish.

Got home late yesterday, weighed this morning for my jab day and I’ve put on 2lb in 2/3 days. I know I haven’t eaten 7000 calories above maintenance in that time. I know it’s likely water retention because I didn’t drink as much water as usual due to lack of toilets and my weak bladder (thank you children!).

But it’s the first time since staring MJ that I haven’t lost something or stayed the same, and such a large gain.

I’m feeling like nothing has changed and I’ve gone right back to how I felt before MJ. Trying to give my head a wobble.

The whole point of me starting MJ is to enable tummy tuck (won’t be entertained by surgeon unless in healthy BMI range). Two caesareans and major abdominal surgery has left me with an awful apron.

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 16/06/2025 10:30

@MynameisJune my weight has fluctuated by a couple of pounds within 2 days. I try now to only weigh myself weekly, on injection day. That way I've got a better sense of the direction of travel.

I also think that it's important to have some days off when on holiday etc so you're not constantly thinking about your weight

I weigh daily, and usually it doesn’t bother me. The odd fluctuation is too be expected and it doesn’t usually faze me.

I’m not dieting, haven’t dieted since last year when I was on Slimpod. Dieting isn’t sustainable, I don’t do treat food, or days off. Because all this feeds into an unhealthy mentality for me that this isn’t long term. Not everyone is the same but this is much healthier for me. I each what I want, when I want. And I’m sure my weight loss has been slower because of this but I’m hoping it will help once I’m come off MJ.

I have PMDD and I think it’s just kicking my bum more this month than usual.

I agree with this and it's actually why I track calories. The whole concept of 'cheat days' and 'days off' and 'saving up your syns' doesn't work for me. There's been a lot of trial and error but I feel like 'everything in moderation and within daily calories' works really well. If I want to eat more, I exercise more. I hope to be at a point at some point where I'm knowledgeable enough about calories to not have to weigh everything but I'm not there yet.

CoolLimeSheep · 16/06/2025 11:11

@Mum2Fergus I had a c section with my last child i too want to just get to my healthy bmi and then hopefully surgery. I do want another child but me and my partner have struggled with that for 8 years and as im 39 now not sure if it's going to happen but our fertility tests are finally positive when we had them done not long ago

sweetpickle2 · 16/06/2025 11:12

Jab day- another sustain. Still at 88kg, which is my goal weight.

I am allowing myself to eat a bit more though, and what I want when I want it etc. The full suppression of 7.5mg has worn off, but I feel I am still able to make better choices and eat far less etc.

I know I'm unlikely to get below this weight unless I seriously restrict my calories which I don't want to do as a) I'd have to go up a jab and b) it just doesn't feel sustainable. I've ordered my third 7.5mg pen and will focus on just trying to sustain a bit longer before I start to taper down. I'm perfectly happy at this weight- I've never been skinny in my whole life and think it would be weird to start now aged 40. So long as I fit into all my clothes and feel healthier and like I look alright in photos (which I now do) then I'm happy- I certainly don't want to be hardly eating anything for the rest of my life.

Have good weeks all!

I can imagine how frustrating this is for you. Please don’t lose heart! Up your water for the next few days and weigh again. Sounds like you made super healthy choices whilst away.

WLINewbie · 16/06/2025 13:15

This maintenance thing is hard. Woke up last night at 2am with insane hunger pains, right back to life pre MJ.

I don't want to go back to being starving despite eating thousands and thousands of calories 😫, back to forgetting I've had dinner and having another, back to pre eating before I go for a meal with friends as I worry about not getting enough food.

I really don't want to be on MJ long term but that freedom from food it gave me was life changing, to enjoy meals, to feel fullness, to have a treat without leading to a binge, to me its a wonder drug.

I might contact medex to ask about their new maintenance plan. But I also owe it to myself to keep trying with tapering down and accept I'll always be hungry. I'm sticking to my calories but it's pretty miserable.

Edit to add - sorry to be such a downer. Broken sleep and mouth watering hunger 10 mins after eating is getting me down today

SpiralSister · 16/06/2025 14:16

Hello lovelies. Sorry for those who are struggling 💐. I sometimes think those who see MJ as the easy option should have a read of this thread and cop on.

I have a NSV today. Had to get my phone repaired in town so had time to kill. I scored an absolutely lush black All Saints coated denim biker jacket from a pre loved boutique. In medium. Ok, it’s a bit tight on the tits, but it does up and looks fabulous left open as well. An All Saints jacket was on my wish list for weight loss reward!

I felt the absolute eels eyebrows swanning off with that baby, let me tell you! 😂

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 16/06/2025 14:21

@SpiralSister how fabulous! I bet it looks great on you
