My BMI is 30 and I’m 13 stone, would like to be 10 stone and looking to start Mounjaro soon. Just wondering those in a similar position, how much did you lose in the first month or so? And how long did it take you to lose your total amount of weight?

9 weeks in and lost 11lbs - it’s not been the fast miracle I was expecting but equally I’m realistic the weight didn’t go on overnight. I’ve resigned myself to a year to goal. No sode effects and wish I’d started earlier to be honest!!

I'm a couple of lbs off the 3 stone mark now. I began at the end of October (so about 7 months) and it's come off in fits and starts. I don't weigh that regularly these days as it can get depressing if you pay too much attention to the scales when you think you're on a certain weight and then the dial reckons you've gained! I can get a better idea from how clothes fit (or become baggy).
I know we all want a quick fix but really, slower is better. The good news is that it's no real hardship to be eating less so it doesn't really matter. And from the first week, you start getting a thrill from feeling better and waistbands loosening and so on.

Mounraine · 22/05/2025 18:42

I started at BMI of 30 and 13st 2lb. Aged 46. I'm 7 weeks in and about 12lb down (but, I had to pause for a couple of weeks due to side effects).

TheMeasure · 22/05/2025 18:45

My best friend is a hospital consultant and I asked her for advice before I began. She was in favour of me going for it. She had a word with a nutritionist colleague who agreed to go for it although did warn that the losses she had seen from patients weren't as dramatic as the headline reports were claiming.
I've averaged between 1 to 1.5lbs a week, which is quite a healthy amount, I think. I lost more initially and it's slowed up since with a few periods of plateauing for a number of weeks (which is frustrating, I admit).

Middayfever · 22/05/2025 18:48

Started mid March 12/ 7 , 10 stone 8 now. It's not been a walk in the park though, some side effects and a massive change in what I eat and how I eat and exercise, good luck it's been a positive experience on the whole, I couldn't have lost the weight I have in the time without it. Also it's not a race you need to be mindful of how you will manage to maintain, you don't want to put it all back on!

Fatmumslim01 · 22/05/2025 19:09

My starting BMI was just shy of 40 and I had 5 stone to lose. 9 weeks in and I've lost 16 pounds and my BMI is now 36.5

fox919 · 22/05/2025 19:15

Started at 13st12, currently 12.12 and on week 7. Lost 9.5lbs in the first 4 weeks. 10st is also my goal weight

VioletsHeart · 22/05/2025 19:22

BMI was 32 when I started nearly a year ago. I reached BMI 23 in early Jan and have maintained that since. I lost steadily 1-2lbs a week with plateaus, faster weeks, slower weeks. Calorie counted for five months. Haven’t since.
Good luck!

Nearlyhadenough · 22/05/2025 19:23

My BMI was 31 and I was 14s 2lb.
3 weigh ins and I’ve lost 11.5lbs

Lifecircle · 22/05/2025 20:09

I took my 1st injection today.
My BMI is 30.5
Starting weight is11st 7lb but I'm a shortie at just 5ft
My goal weight is 9st 7lbs
I've been a yo_yo dieter most of my life and I'm no spring chicken. I also like a drink or two! I hope my appetite for both drink and food gets successfully suppressed.
Fingers crossed 🤞

Movinghouseatlast · 22/05/2025 20:12

I lost 3 stone. It was quite slow for me, but I think it's a good thing not to lose too fast. In the first month I lost 11lbs but it slowed to a pound a week.

Roxietrees · 22/05/2025 20:16

Congratulations on your weight loss everyone 👏 for those who counted calories- how many calories did you eat a day? Was it difficult or fairly easy?

VioletsHeart · 22/05/2025 22:34

I started tracking to make sure I was eating enough calories.
averaged 12-1400 a day. Prioritised protein and fibre. It was easy.
Walked a lot. Added in strength training after the first month.

By month five I’d had enough if tracking. Last half stone came off much more slowly but I was glad not to be tracking every morsel.

Nellodee · 23/05/2025 06:34

I started at bmi 30, 12 st 12, 5’5

I’m on week 5, and have lost 12lbs, 6 in the first week, and then a more steady 6 after that.

I am calorie counting, and need to be sub 1200 calories to actually lose anything, which is one of the reasons I tried wli. I think this is probably down to age, as I’m in my 50s. I’ve only recently started doing any exercise - I now do either Pilates or weights most days. I’m trying to eat lots of protein and increase my muscle mass so that I can hopefully burn a few more calories moving forwards.

Nellodee · 23/05/2025 06:43

It’s been relatively easy to stay at the right amount of calories. I’ve cut out a tonne of carbs from my diet. Without mounjaro, I’d have been ravenous. Last night, I had half a barbecued sirloin steak, some prawns fried in chili and garlic, and a green salad. I’m still full up this morning, whereas previously, I would have been looking for some thing stodgy to fill me up immediately after the meal.

I’m definitely thinking I’m going to need some kind of maintenance to be able to eat like this on a more permanent basis, though.

Hysterectomynext · 23/05/2025 06:46

im same as you op.
I’m on week 4. I have lost 17lb so far 💃

winterdarkness · 23/05/2025 06:50

That was me last August. I started at 13st 3.

I’m delighted with the results. Currently 10st 8

Marchintospring · 23/05/2025 06:59

I had 2 stone to lose.

On my fourth pen. Shifted a stone but not raking it seriously. If I stopped drinking wine I’d have lost loads more.
I lost must of it in the third week onwards. Then had a party, discovered I could push through food and drink and never got the suppression back.
This is my last pen as I can’t afford more (and not doing it properly).

Which provider are you using as I’m worried that once below a bmi of 30 they will stop supplying me?

Im not below 30 yet but I've heard that as long as you can prove you had it when you were above 30 eg a pic of your prescription they will provide. There are also pharmacies who specialise in maintenance

SquishyGloopyBum · 23/05/2025 07:47

Yes me! On my 6th week. Started at BMI 30 and 13st 1. Currently 11st 11. Goal is 10st 7. Feeling so much happier for it. Minimal side effects. Even lost weight while on holiday!!

JosephsCoat · 23/05/2025 10:28

Me! BMI on starting was 31 something, currently high 28s after 9 weeks. Loss in the first month was 3.5kg. I'm not being too exact here because our scales are a bit shit! But I can tell from my clothes being looser too.

Been on 2.5 throughout and it's been great, no real symptoms. I think I took maybe three Gaviscon in the first week. The rate is slowing a little but I'm reluctant to go higher as it suits me so well.

I started taking it due to cholesterol, and was advised that I'd likely see improvement if I got to BMI 25. That would be around two and a half stone. I don't especially want to go lower than that, for vanity really, as I think I looked better around 25 ish than I did when thinner. But if the cholesterol hasn't improved by then I'd have to revisit that. The plan is to book a GP appointment once I'm there.

No don’t worry but call them and ask them now so that you can worry less about this. I called mine last week and it’s no problem to stay on as long as I don’t have a two week break. If it’s two weeks I’d be classed as a new patient and if I was lower bmi then I wouldn’t be prescribed it. So I’ll stick with my provider. I’m still on first pen but always worried!

bugalugs45 · 23/05/2025 19:05

It took me 6 /7 months to lose 3 stone but I wasn’t super strict about what I ate , having said that I’m kinda glad I did it slowly . I started at 14 stone 11 & I’m now 11 7 .
im 46 if that’s relevant ( and defo peri menopause)

TheMeasure · 23/05/2025 21:02

@bugalugs45 Very similar journey to me.
