My BMI is 30 and I’m 13 stone, would like to be 10 stone and looking to start Mounjaro soon. Just wondering those in a similar position, how much did you lose in the first month or so? And how long did it take you to lose your total amount of weight?

Started 12 weeks ago at 12st 12lb (BMI of about 29.8 but have chronic back issues that allowed prescription below BMI 30). Now about 11st 3lb. Had some big losses at the start - half a stone gone in a couple of weeks which I assume was mainly water. But since then it’s been anything between 0.5lb and 3lb each week. Had one week with no loss too.

I aim to stay under 1600 calories but weekdays are generally around 1400. Weekends tend to be closer to 2000. I do a reasonable amount of exercise too though which I think means I can have a slightly higher calorie intake than some others seem to need.

Everyone is different, but my MIL lost around 3st in about 5/6 months, her mobility isn’t great so her ability to exercise is limited, had she been going to a gym or walking a lot I’m sure the loss would have been quicker. Good luck OP

I started at 13st 3lb and a BMI of about 31 at the beginning of Feb. I've lost 22lb in 16 weeks, it was more in the first month and now almost precisely 1lb a week. I don't count kcals, but every now and again check roughly what I'm eating and it's usually about 1400kcal a day. I prioritise protein and fruit and veg over carbs and can't drink alcohol on mounjaro as it makes me feel ill. I've been able to get back into exercise over the last few months and feel a million times better. It's not been a quick fix, but it's slow and steady and I feel calmer and consistent. I know it'll take about another 4 months to get to my goal of 10st 7lb and I'm OK with that!

Sorry @Jetflash that was a horrible response I don’t know what’s wrong with me apologies. I meant to say that it’s because you are at the low end of a healthy BMI anyway so have nothing further to lose.

I started last June at 13st 7, BMI 36.9 and now I'm 8st 5. I lost 10lbs, then 11lbs then it tapered to about 7lb a month. Approaching maintenance and it's maybe 3lb a month now. Total loss 72lbs.

Congratulations on your weight loss everyone 👏 for those who counted calories- how many calories did you eat a day? Was it difficult or fairly easy?

You need to do a BMR calculator. My BMR is 1100 so I stick to 1000 calories mostly.

You are well within the healthy BMI range so outside of the precribing rules.

Why do you want it? Gently, do you suffer from an eating disorder?

No because your weight and BMI is perfectly normal.

SweetChilliGirl · 26/05/2025 16:21

I started at 12 stone, 6lb, BMI of 30. I've just taken my 6th jab of 2.5mg and have lost 1 stone and 3lb, so my BMI is currently 27.

I don't calorie count or track anything, I have 3 meals a day and a handful of almonds I'm I'm hungry and have protein with every meal.

I have 2 stone and 3lb to go until I hit my target weight of 9 stone, which would give me a BMI of 21.6, just slightly below the middle of the healthy weight zone.

I've also started pilates one a week and boot camp once a week.

With respect, mounjaro is a serious medication to treat obesity- it’s not for just losing a little bit of weight.

You are at the lower end of healthy in BMI scale. Be thankful.

SmallFried · 26/05/2025 22:52

I started BMI 27 and 12 stone

Now BMI 19.5 and about 8 stone 10

Just over 3 stone lost and that's me done! Now to figure out maintenance.....

It's hard when you feel like your over weight though and see yourself as abit over weight

This was why I asked if you have an eating disorder. You clearly are not overweight.

Marchintospring · 27/05/2025 08:45

@Jetflash I don't think it would help if you do have an eating disorder.
Part of the condition is fear of fat which clearly you aren't and that doesn't change no matter how thin you get. My cousin is literally just bone and she still won't eat ( not on the jab btw).
It works by taking away food noise, not by dissolving fat. If you don't overeat in the first place it's not really much use.

kiwiane · 27/05/2025 21:10

I’m on my first week and just over 15 stones - if I could lose 3.5 stones that would be ideal. I feel as if MJ has given me the willpower to eat healthily and cut portion sizes -I don’t want to count calories or radically change the healthy side of my diet; this needs to be sustainable.

My main concern is the tiredness I feel - hopefully that will improve.

FortySomethingMum · 05/08/2025 20:24

Hi @Roxietrees I am roughly around the same BMI and weight goal, just wondering how you are getting on? Just ordered today so think I will start on Friday😀
