New thread for all of us.
Thank you for allowing me to rant, share our ups and downs. Our group blows my mind of how we are so supportive of each other.

Some of us are now hitting the 12 week mark, some of us are nearly at their goal, some halfway and some still have a way to go, but we are all losing even if it’s half a pound a week. We have all come so far and are making a difference to our health.

No I haven’t, I will do so. It did specifically say it’s because of gallstones though. I could just lie about it and not tick that one but I’m reluctant to do that. I can also reorder 7.5 so may have to do that while I sort it out.

Beans on toast with cottage cheese and edamame beans anyone? 😀

I've had two men come into my shop and look for edamame beans 😂 I have no idea what or where they are 😂

Hello 👋
I started my journey in March. Kind of been toddling along on my own but finding it a lonely journey
I've lost 13kg so far. I'm on 5mg but I feel like it's doing nothing for me
Annoying because I already have a second pen waiting in the fridge.
But I'm very tempted to move up

Welcome

When you say it's not doing anything for you, what do you mean? Suppression if that's what you're chasing doesn't always occur in everyone.

If you are losing 1-2 lb or 0.5-1kg a week then it's working so trust the process. Also take measurements of key areas and that's also a good indicator as well. Good luck.

Yellowsubmarine55 · 27/05/2025 08:22

Morning all 👋

Just at the end of week 9, jab 10 today. I've lost 1.4lb so yes I'm disappointed but it's a loss and not a gain 😁. Total is 23lb which is ok by me.

But the wow NSV I have to report is a whopping 17cm off my mahoosive bust, 15 off my belly and 14 off my waist over the 9 weeks. That's massive and means more than the weight loss 😍

I'm going to catch up with the rest of the thread now, it's moving very quickly.

@TheBossOfMe I don't have all trails but I do have the OS app.

@popdepop I feel the same, even on "bad" days now, fir example yesterday, I ate some biscuits, about 6 ginger nuts. Not anything like a previous "snackcident".

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 27/05/2025 10:01

popdepop · 26/05/2025 18:35

Thanks for replying @TheBossOfMe I'm the same, lost confidence, avoided going out etc I wfh so easy to hide away. It is like I'm only seeing what I look like now and I was also in denial. I'm just having on of those days. My energy is very low, so I've rested today, but also thinking about where I am. I've lost 2 stone 2 pounds, need to lose a further 1 stone 4 to be BMI 30, then want to lose a further 2 stone, at least. I've been reading some other threads and there are so many people who are not at all empathetic about overweight/obese people. It's awful to read 😕

I'm feeling very much the same. I was definitely in denial about my food (and wine) consumption. It's astonishing the difference really, and I hope that I can keep this up either on maintainance or off MJ totally. I really wish I could confide in my sister, she is very very overweight, totally miserable with it, can't get started at all and would be incredibly negative and judgemental about MJ. It could, would change her life.

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 27/05/2025 10:12

All caught up I think.
@popdepop @TheBossOfMe One thing I noticed about being overweight is how invisible I am. And I hate that it matters to me. I've spent most of my life being slim and (sorry, sounds big headed) reasonably attractive. You have no idea until it happens, how little notice people take of you if you're fat . I think getting older has an impact too, along with less "effort " in relation to clothes, hair etc. And as you say @TheBossOfMe trying to work out why it matters to me. I'm no less of a person.

1.4lb is a great loss at this stage of the journey aim for 1-2 lb a week ☺️ 23 lb in 9 weeks is huge and well done you doing great and look at the measurements that’s a great achievement !

Lolliz87 · 27/05/2025 12:09

So….no loss or gain this week so back to where I was 2 weeks ago 😭😂😂. Can’t complain too much as been on holiday two weekends in a row but at least 0.5 pounds would have been nice! Not away until Sunday now with work at least so can try and be 😇 until then and hope I can bank some loss in the run up to Sunday. Also TOTM is due any day now so I suppose I might at least get a whoosh after that. Definitely going to take a full 5mg tonight as woken up absolutely Hank Marvin today as well 😂

TheBossOfMe · 27/05/2025 12:34

@2025mj @Justformounjaro has clearly kicked off an edamame bean craze!

@2025mj 13kg is loads, it's definitely doing something, well done!

@Yellowsubmarine55 Those are brilliant NSVs, that's amazing.

@Lolliz87 No gain when you've been away two weekends in a row is a win in my book!

@Illbefinejustbloodyfine Snackcident made me howl. Download the free version of Alltrails, it's brilliant for suggesting routes (don't bother with a subscription). You can follow people who hike a lot in the area you're in - there's a guy called Karl James on there who has brilliant routes through the Beacons, with great photos. Couple of other recommendations - Big Pit is a really fun day out, but you need to book in advance. Crickhowell is an absolutely picture postcard town, completely stunning - it's got a lovely cafe called Latte da, and there's a walk from the bridge through the Bullpit meadow that takes you along the side of the river up to the bridge on the Glanusk estate, it's a stunning walk on a sunny day. Depending on how old your kids are, the Royal Welsh Museum in Brecon is interesting enough - it's got loads about the siege of Rourke's Drift (make them watch Zulu before you go!) And if you want a bit of a treat, afternoon tea at Peterstone Court is amazing - we skip lunch and dinner when we go there because there's so much food (and they'll box anything up that you don't finish to take home). If you go there, bring a book and sit in the library afterwards, and go for a walk in the grounds, they're beautiful.

Dinner was a bit more than usual last night because I was feeding loads of hungry teenagers so big bowls of pasta, which I've been trying not to eat too much. I put less of the pasta in my bowl, more of the sauce, and had a big salad as well, felt nicely sated, swerved the giant box of Krispy Kremes that one of them brought round, had one too many glasses of wine clearing up after they went out, but have held weight steady overnight. For a Bank Holiday that was cold and rainy, that's a huge win, crap weather on days off is one of my triggers for just lazing around eating too much.

RuthEvershedforPM · 27/05/2025 12:40

Off on holiday in an hour or so - fingers crossed 5 days doesn’t undo the 13kg 😂. Hoping for lots of exercise to offset eating ‘normally’ I am on 4th week of 7.5 so should be some benefits if the jab, I just don’t want to have to be as rigid as I’ve been over the last few weeks.

small NSV - we were at the Liverpool parade yesterday and did around 30k steps - I was tired at the end and my hips hurt a bit - but nothing LIKE what I would have been a few months ago and with an extra 13kg. Also when the trains rammed and massive queues we could just start walking home instead of being stuck :)

RuthEvershedforPM · 27/05/2025 12:43

Well done @TheBossOfMe - I think being able to socialise with food is a huge win :) sounds like a good adaptation!

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 27/05/2025 12:43

Wow thanks for all of the suggestions! Kids are 8 and 9, and clever little clogs, interested in history and happy to go to a museum. Walking wise, I think they'll be fine up to 7 or 8 miles if the walks are interesting. We dont have a lot of hills where we are so I think they'd be excited at the change of scenery.

TheBossOfMe · 27/05/2025 13:15

@Illbefinejustbloodyfine If they're interested in history, Tretower Court and Castle is lovely. I've not been inside the museum at Abergavenny Castle, but the castle is a lovely little place for a picnic outside. If they've seen any of the Lord of the Rings movies, there's an absolutely spectacular giant redwood tree on the banks of the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal, by Bridge 113, which is rumoured to have been the inspiration for Tolkien for the Ents/Treebeard. It's an extraordinary sight, absolutely gigantic, with amazing views surrounding it. And there are nesting Ospreys near Talybont which you can see from a viewing point. https://www.uskvalleyospreys.org/accessing-the-towpath-viewpoint

It'll be a wonderful holiday for them!

Oh dear;
eating and drinking quite a lot over the weekend has shown on the scales with a small increase. I have also got very muddled about doses and’ long story short’ am going to be 2 days late with my dose… sigh.
SW 84 kg
CW 74 kg
GW still undecided
.

TryingMJ · 27/05/2025 15:16

Can anyone help me with this query. So far I’ve always stuck to the correct doses and the correct amounts, if you see what I mean- no golden dose, no micro dosing, no half measures, no using a stronger pen to get longer on a weaker dose. Not because I’m against it but because it all just so complicated and I’m scared of getting something wrong! I don’t even prime the pen and do the jab myself- my DP does so when you’re all talking about 45 clicks etc it goes right over my head!

Anyway, I’m planning ahead for when I’ll be away on holiday for almost 3 weeks (certainly 3 jab days)- 30th July to 17th August. My jab day is Fridays, my current pen (5mg) has three doses so 30th May, 6th June and 13th June. Then I have my next 5mg pen already in the fridge which will be for 20th June, 27th June, 4th July and 11th July. Soon I will need to order my next pen which will carry me through into my holiday. I don’t think I’m ready to move up to 7.5mg yet unless something drastically changes over the next couple of months.

I think the options are:

  • order a 5mg pen, take at home as normal on 18th July and 25th July, take it with me on holiday (doesn’t need refrigerated once opened) and take 5mg on 1st August and 8th August and then miss a dose on 15th August and then…. when I get back on 17th either then start a new pen straight away (which I’d have to have ready in fridge before I go) I.e. change jab days from Fridays, or wait until the next Friday 22nd Aug to restart.
  • order a 5 mg pen, take at home as normal on 18th july and 25th July, take it on holiday with me and then on the 3 Fridays of holiday spread out the 5mg pen to get three doses of 2.5mg- is this possible (as I say above I’m clueless about all this!) and if so, how? This would mean my suppression spread across the holiday rather than missing a dose but would be a lower dose to allow me to enjoy some holiday food maybe.
  • order a 5mg pen and try to get 5 weeks worth out of it- I.e. the golden dose while away on holiday.
  • order a 7.5mg pen for those dates and use this to take 5mg per week over 5 weeks, again- is this possible and how?

Very grateful for any thoughts on which of the options you’d advise, or if there’s another option I haven’t thought of, plus anyone who can give an idiot’s guide on how to go about it! Thanks!

Just to add- I’m now (just!) at a healthy BMI and have only 9-10lbs to my goal weight which I hope to get to by the aforementioned holiday so I’m really just looking to maintain/not undo my hard work through the holiday rather than aggressively lose, if you see what I mean.

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 27/05/2025 15:21

I'd use the 5mg pen and take a dose 2 days late when you get home, OR order syringe and take the 5th dose while away.

TheBossOfMe · 27/05/2025 15:23

@TryingMJ I agree with @Illbefinejustbloodyfine, those are the two best options. Getting the 5th dose out is super easy with a syringe.

Bipaloss · 27/05/2025 15:26

Hello

as you don’t like counting klicks etc I would go with option one as you can continue as normal with one week gap (max 2 weeks) this also allows you to decide if you want to go up a dose or not on your return (you don’t even need to change days)

  • order a 5mg pen, take at home as normal on 18th July and 25th July, take it with me on holiday (doesn’t need refrigerated once opened) and take 5mg on 1st August and 8th August and then miss a dose on 15th August and then…. when I get back on 17th either then start a new pen straight away (which I’d have to have ready in fridge before I go) I.e. change jab days from Fridays, or wait until the next Friday 22nd Aug to restart.

alternative is to order a 7.5 mg pen count 40 clicks for a 5mg dose , but this will result in 6 doses in the pen (if not increasing, as a full pen has 240 clicks) and if not refrigerating it wouldn’t be something I would do (I have mine in the fridge and stretched my current pen 5 weeks but is not something I plan to do again as it was too much hassle, just like you I don’t do golden dose)

TryingMJ · 27/05/2025 15:32

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 27/05/2025 15:21

I'd use the 5mg pen and take a dose 2 days late when you get home, OR order syringe and take the 5th dose while away.

Thanks for reply. If starting the new pen a couple of days later after returning from holiday, would you then think permanently change jab day from then on (would change from a Friday to a Monday- I do quite like doing a Friday night in case of any SEs being contained within a weekend and not affecting work), or change it back to a Friday somehow (gradual? Or leave a gap somewhere?)

I see other replies have come through too- thank you, I will read through carefully!

If you prefer Friday then I’d slowly move back to that once you’re home. I plan on bringing my injection day forwards from Sunday to Friday before I go on holiday (so I can get a dose in before I go and not take MJ with me) but will probably move it back to a Sunday over a few weeks once I’m home (because Sunday works better for me with shared family meals at weekends).

GiveMeWordGames · 27/05/2025 17:24

Yeah, @TryingMJ slowly bring the day back, one day at a time.

I've just done mine a day late after walking in the door from my holiday. It was only a week and I was lucky in the timings so I didn't need to take a pen with me at all.

I like MJ day being on a Monday so next week I'll just jab after 6 days.

BVsMum · 27/05/2025 17:29

So I’ve just moved up to 7.5mg and injected in my thighs yesterday morning. And for the first time on this journey I’m having side effects: diarrhoea, vomiting dizziness fatigue.

its only day 2. Will my body get used to the dose or do I need to go down for my next jab? Any ideas anyone?
