New thread for all of us.
Thank you for allowing me to rant, share our ups and downs. Our group blows my mind of how we are so supportive of each other.

Some of us are now hitting the 12 week mark, some of us are nearly at their goal, some halfway and some still have a way to go, but we are all losing even if it’s half a pound a week. We have all come so far and are making a difference to our health.

Fabulous photos @TheSpoonyNavyReader 😍

Joining the holiday chat- I’m off to Canada for 3 weeks in the summer and need to decide what I’m going to do with regards to jabs etc. As others have said, I do want to enjoy myself but don’t want to undo all my good work.

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 25/05/2025 20:43

Can anyone help me with this - I want to extract the extra dose from my 5mg pen. I've been counting clicks to take 3 75mg so far.

As far as I understand, 0.6ml is a full dose, so for 3.75ml, I'd need....0.45ml? Is that correct?

I almost forgot to jab too, odd!

TheBossOfMe · 25/05/2025 20:54

@Illbefinejustbloodyfine I think that's right but let someone else confirm.

One thing I've noticed on golden dose is that I can draw a lot of bubbles in when extracting - so after 5 mins when those settle down and I've flicked the syringe and primed to push air out, I realise I've extracted less than I thought. Don't know if I'm doing it wrong.

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 25/05/2025 21:01

I'm pretty sure it's right but would like confirmation! I've only done it once before, with a 2.5mg pen. As I'm only going for 3.75, there should be plenty of liquid to prime with.

Re holidays, clean I'm the poor relation on this thread 😂 we will go on a few camping holidays in the UK. We have a huge family tent but I've recently bought a cheap caravan. I don't generally gain weight on holidays as snack less and walk/swim/cycle lots. Also lots of bbq and salad meals.

TheBossOfMe · 25/05/2025 21:06

@Illbefinejustbloodyfine I had a very traumatic evacuation from the Brecon Beacons in my teens which put me off camping for life. I have much respect for people who do it! Also people who cycle. You don't want to see me on a bike, its an absolute disaster 😂

Oh god, I plan to take my dc to the Brecon Beacons this year but have decided against camping! To be fair, we don't travel too far to camp, we have some lovely areas within an hour of where we live

seasidehunter · 25/05/2025 21:40

@Illbefinejustbloodyfine @TheBossOfMe camping at Glastonbury and my tent nearly getting washed away (with me in it) was enough to put me off! That and the festival toilets 🤢 A caravan is okay though - particularly if it’s got its own loo 😀

TheBossOfMe · 25/05/2025 21:59

@Illbefinejustbloodyfine I actually now spend every other weekend down on the edge of the Beacons because DP is from round there. I just don't camp. It's a bloody marvellous part of the world - that's where I get my really long walks in. My intention is to retire to there and die there Hopefully not for a while yet :)

There are loads of really good caravan sites around there - if you want any recommendations LMK and I'll ask the locals. Who are brutally honest! And I can give shitloads of food/attraction/garden/hike recommendations.

It's absolutely God's own country. I feel very emotional and connected to the land when I'm there. And this is coming from a London bred townie 😂Just so long as Im not in a tent!

We have been VERY lucky with weather. My dc were 3 and 4 the first time I took them (alone, single parent) it chucked it down one night, was glorious the next day but forecast thunderstorms overnight. I decided to pack up and go home that night rather than the next day. Got the whole lot diwn in an hour, and drove away to black clouds , lightening and torrential rain!

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 25/05/2025 22:23

@TheBossOfMe I'd love some recommendations, I'm on a paupers budget though....the DC are desperate to do the 4 waterfalls walk.

TheBossOfMe · 25/05/2025 22:40

@Illbefinejustbloodyfine You really don't need to spend a lot down there if you have a caravan or are camping - it's accomodation that blows the budget. Do you have a caravan site sorted already? 4 waterfalls is amazing - but there are some really nice off the beaten track walks that I find enormous serenity in doing. When are you planning to be there. Very happy to help with any planning. I'm not a local but I know plenty of people who are!

We had a devastating holiday this year - we went to Istanbul as we are turkish food lovers and the food was absolutely awful. London is way better!

For me Istanbul is amazing food experience been 3 times

city centre is a tourist traps just like London.

favourite experience is Ciragan Kempinski, stayed once and came once for dinner and drinks and absolutely stunning ambience with absolutely super food it’s very costly but an experience

the best restaurant in Istanbul is outside of city centre towards north

Bipaloss · 25/05/2025 23:44

On the holiday thread , we did way too much on holidays last year (turkey , Mallorca, Egypt (Christmas new years) & India (family wedding)

as we are looking at moving house this year it’s all UK this year with 2 long weekends in may and one week away in Somerset in August which I don’t mind as all self catering with the odd meals out (camping is not for us, tried camping pod a couple of years ago and DH and DS deffo not a fan with a walking distance to the loo’s 😂)

however next year I have the full calendar packed again with hols abroad again ✈️🛫 (nothing booked but planned as I’m a last minute booker/ deal hunter)

Idioticwoman · 26/05/2025 07:07

Hello could I check in?
I haven’t been posting since the first thread but I started 8 March and have just got into the overweight BMI category from obese and am thrilled and had to share

sw 210lbs (1 Jan 25) BMI 36
sw on mounjaro 204 (8 March)
cw 174lbs BMI 29.8 🙌
gw originally 160lbs maybe 140lbs I’ll see how I feel once there!

I’ve micro dosed throughout and not taken a full dose of 2.5mg yet (I did 55 clicks last time instead of 60 as chickened out)
I was very ill at 30 and 45 clicks of the 2.5mg while building up so I respond very strongly so it’s taken me all this time to get to almost a full 2.5mg dose but it’s given me the edge I needed

im also going on holiday for a 2 week trip in July to New York and east coast down to Virginia beach and slightly dreading the portions and junk food! I’m vegetarian and I’ve been looking at menus of random restaurants in the towns we’re staying in and nothing looks very veggie friendly !

@TheBossOfMe I also get loads of bubbles in bonus dose and wonder if I'm doing it wrong too.

TheBossOfMe · 26/05/2025 11:11

@Fatmumslim01 Apparently it's caused by being impatient and pulling the plunger on the syringe too fast! Story of my life.

@Idioticwoman That's an amazing loss and an amazing milestone, well done! I've been reading up about dosing - there's actually very little test data on efficacy of lower doses at all, but it's really clear that some people are hyper responders and low doses are very effective for them. And that's a great holiday - love that part of the US.

Weigh day today. After Chelsea and a bit of a social whirl this weekend (albeit from home rather than away), I wasn't expecting much. Tried to get steps in and some exercise in, but nowhere near as much as usual. And period is due any day now, which is usually when I retain loads of water. But I seem to have had a bit of a whoosh week. Waist measurement hasn't reduced at all and stomach looks like pizza dough, but hopefully I can rectify that with some good core workouts.

SW 10st 4.6lb/144.6lb BMI 25.7 (prescribed MJ because of diabetes risk and hideous waist measurement)
CW 8st 11.5lb/123.5lb BMI 21.9 - 21.1lb down, 93.4% of target achieved.
GW 8st 10lb/122lb (22.6lb total target loss, 1.5lb to go (3.5 allowing 2 for a bounce) BMI 21.6

Loss by week:
W1 (2.5) 5.5lb
W2 (2.5) 1.3lb
W3 (2.5) 0.7lb (ate out loads)
W4 (5) 3.3lb
W5 (5) 0.5lb gain (ate out loads)
W6 (5) 3.8lb (Post Easter weekend plus period)
W7 (5) 2.6lb
W8 (5) 1.5lb gain (BH weekend away, ate out loads)
W9 (7.5) 1.1lb (NY trip)
W10 (7.5) 1.1lb (Hakkasan and weekend away)
W11 (7.5 split dose) 3.7lb (Chelsea, BH weekend)

That's insane - but if I look at my meal photos this week, I can see that my plate compositions have been really balanced. I think the previous 2 weeks when suppression was so high, I was so scared of not getting enough nutrients (which I have to be so careful about because of my anaemia) that I was forcing myself to eat lots, whereas this week I really, really enjoyed what I ate naturally, didn't have to force, and made really decent food choices as a result. The brain, mouth and stomach hopefully rewiring. I'm praying that this is a miracle in the offing.

Justformounjaro · 26/05/2025 11:35

Weigh in day for me:

Start Weight MJ: 15st 0lbs
Goal Weight: Undecided

Current Weight: 13st 7.8lbs
Loss on MJ: 1st 6.2lbs (20.2 lbs)

I didn’t think I was going to lose anything this week but overnight 2lbs has come off 😊

Whilst being on Mounjaro, I’ve not calorie counted at all but, like most women who have had a weight problem, I have a rough idea of the calorie content of most foods. I have been much more aware of how much protein I need to help prevent loose skin and sometimes have really weird combinations to try to eat 1g for every kg of weight every day. DP has recently been diagnosed with very high blood sugar and came back from an appointment with the nutritionist on Friday about what needs to change in his diet. He’s not overweight but is a carb fiend, and managing glucose spikes and eating more fibre will help him (and me in the long term).

Since most meal planning comes down to me, I decided to download an app and weigh everything to get a much better idea of the nutritional content of what we’re eating. First couple of days of fairly typical meals show that I’m eating around 1600 calories a day and my Fitbit average calorie expenditure over the last couple of years is 2300 (although I think trackers generally overestimate and I know my BMR will reduce as I lose weight) so this bodes well for when I eventually stop using Mounjaro if I manage to avoid slipping back into snacking at the level I was (and even now, I’m eating a small piece of chocolate after every meal as well - I’m still eating chocolate from Easter which I would normally have scoffed within the week 😀)

Justformounjaro · 26/05/2025 11:40

So many people are doing well, and for those that think they aren’t, keep with it as long as you can - if you are losing weight, it is better than where you were.

Whereissummer24 · 26/05/2025 12:10

Off away for a few days today and also jab day… Sod’s Law for the first time in weeks I’ve got a bloomin bruise. What’s the chance 😩

TheBossOfMe · 26/05/2025 12:11

@Justformounjaro That's brilliant. I've stopped calorie counting because I realised that I also have a good idea of calories by sight - and I didn't want to get obsessive (I can be obsessive about a lot of things!). And also have weird food combinations to try and get protein in 😂

@Illbefinejustbloodyfine Do you have the Alltrails app? It's brilliant for walks in the Beacons.

We were so bewildered. We weren't staying in the city centre as we went during the protests. We wandered out by the commuter belt. We did eat cheap though - but cheap can be good.

TheBossOfMe · 26/05/2025 13:14

@Flamethrowers Cheap can definitely be good. I lived in Thailand for a few years, and cheaper was often a lot better there - some of the best food I ate there was from street stalls. We learned to watch which ones had long queues of locals at lunchtime - those were the ones to go for. They usually made just one dish - so a takeaway dinner could involve going to 3 different stalls! The higher end Thai restaurants were often really disappointing though - catering for tourists in the main, so very inauthentic.

TheBossOfMe · 26/05/2025 13:18

OMG me and my food noise. I don't stop thinking about food 😂Sorry!

popdepop · 26/05/2025 13:40

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. I did my 2nd dose of 7.5mg on Friday and am hugely lacking energy. Yesterday had a nap in the afternoon. Supression is quite high and having food aversions. I just want very plain and clean food. I was thinking back to how I was that led to so much if a gain. Massively overeating but felt unable to stop. The thought makes me feel sick now. I don't know how I did that to myself. It makes me feel sad tbh. I'm happy I'm on the right track now but have a way to go yet.. Just one of those thoughtful days... onwards and downwards
