I’ve also not dipped below my Sunday weight yet. Could be a sticky set point. Would like to get to below a BMI of 23 so I’m ‘healthy’, but I don’t mind if it takes a bit longer. Amazed to have got this far if I’m honest.

WFH this morning so did 45min cardio session on the bike.

HeavyHeidi · 14/05/2025 08:54

@MananaPenelope I guess you also didn't get the memo that we are all supposedly only sitting on the sofa, stuffing our faces 😂

Jins · 14/05/2025 08:55

@MananaPenelope any scope for further cutting carbs? As a low carber I do bang the drum a bit but the breakdown you’ve posted is showing more carbs than protein and fats combined. I know they say that 130g total carbs is classed as the top end of a low carb diet but my maintenance level for years was 80g and once my diet changed and I went above 100g I steadily gained weight whatever my calorie intake was.

I haven’t gone as low as Atkins induction intentionally on MJ but I’d guess that I’m hovering around 60-65g most days which is just about ketogenic. Some of the old diet plans like Barry Groves, Charles Clark, South Beach etc started at a higher level, Michael Mosley starts quite low.

It just looks a bit like you are doing really well in terms of calorie intake but the balance isn’t quite right for you. Sometimes the shock of a short spell on very low carb can get you out of a plateau

Or of course you could just eat less and move more 🤣🤣🤣

MJalltheway · 14/05/2025 08:58

I'm also at a bit of a sticky point. The fact so many of us are at the same sort of time makes me think we've probably all lost a similar body weight percentage and have reached that 'set point' stage where your body gets hyper-efficient at using the calories. All we can do is stick at it and don't lose hope! It can take up to 6 months to reset a set point 😖

Jins · 14/05/2025 09:01

That’s a really interesting point @MJalltheway - let’s test it

I’ve lost 16% of starting weight and I’m 77% towards goal.

With sausage roles and Quavers in our hands and track marks on our arms, don't forget 😉

BreezyPeer · 14/05/2025 09:07

@MananaPenelope that is one impressive sticking point! I am wishing losses on you! ( and me 🤣)

MananaPenelope · 14/05/2025 09:11

🤦‍♀️ oh, if only I had realised 🤡, eat less, move more.

I can look at fewer carbs @Jins . 25g of my daily carbs come from things like the apple and orange I eat every day.

Me and weights don’t really gel, I hate weights. I used to be a competitive rower, that’s my love, in fact if I get to the loose target in my head I am going to buy myself a single scull. I’m going to drive to my (former) rowing club at the weekend, see if there’s anything for me there atm.

HeavyHeidi · 14/05/2025 09:20

I've been stuck on 62-63 kilos as well, keep losing and gaining the same kilo. Now to be fair I have been a bit snacky - need to stop buying dried fruit, it's really easy to grab some but it is very sugary and relatively high calorie as well.

But yes really interesting several of us got stuck at the same time.
I agree that low carb might help, but it's strawberry season, I can't just not eat them..

HeavyHeidi · 14/05/2025 09:23

Exercise-wise I really need to lift heavier and do something about my backside. Arms looking good, but glutes, while still there, are definitely smaller.

And running - never liked it, never will, but weather is just perfect and I have 2 young Irish setter cross dogs, that adore running with me. Even if I take it slow, 8-10K run is still a decent amount of calories burned, might help with the sticky point.

Jins · 14/05/2025 09:29

@HeavyHeidi strawberries, all berries really, are low carb fruits. Not super low but if you’re going to eat fruit then strawberries aren’t a bad choice at all. Rhubarb is ok but the sugar isn’t.

MJalltheway · 14/05/2025 09:39

Jins · 14/05/2025 09:01

That’s a really interesting point @MJalltheway - let’s test it

I’ve lost 16% of starting weight and I’m 77% towards goal.

I'm on 14% body weight lost but only about 45% of my way to goal.

UnderandOverwhelmed · 14/05/2025 09:40

Week 20 day 1 - gone up to 6.5 today. Lost 1.6lbs in the last week and am now 0.4lbs away from my halfway point!
SW 223.6

GW 140
I think mentally getting past 3 stone lost will really help.

UnderandOverwhelmed · 14/05/2025 09:59

MJalltheway · 14/05/2025 09:39

I'm on 14% body weight lost but only about 45% of my way to goal.

I'm similar, 18.5% of body weight lost but only 49.5% of the way to goal. It's a long old road.

whyamisuddenlygettingolder · 14/05/2025 10:22

Interesting... I've lost about 22% of my body weight and am 64% of the way to goal (which is the very top of healthy BMI). I'm not at a plateau I don't think, but it's slowed way way way down. To get to goal, I will need to have lost a total of 34% of my starting weight.

HeavyHeidi · 14/05/2025 10:30

I'm 20% down and yes at sticky point.

Zempy · 14/05/2025 10:38

I have lost 22% of my body weight and am one pound away from my initial goal, to be BMI 25. I am 75% of the way to my new goal, to have lost four stone and have a BMI of around 22.

@MananaPenelope I can’t see how you aren’t losing, it must be so frustrating.

@BlueLimes I would gain/STS on 1300 calories.

MananaPenelope · 14/05/2025 12:00

@Zempy it is. If you tried to explain to the eat less move more brigade that you were thinking about giving up a blood orange and a golden delicious apple a day to reduce carbs because you’re not losing weight on 1000 cals a day they just wouldn’t get it would they?

My metabolism has been completely screwed up by the cocktail of medication I took for two years. Still, at least I’m here to moan about it 🙃.

HeavyHeidi · 14/05/2025 13:00

we hear you, @MananaPenelope . I bet I move more and eat less than 99% of the naturally slim people calling us lazy gluttons.

BlueLimes · 14/05/2025 13:07

@Zempy oh gosh - I’ll reduce to 1100 and see where that takes me to other than hunger.

tinyemmy · 14/05/2025 13:44

I've lost 24% of my body weight and 91.9% to my goal with just 3.4lbs to go. I stayed the same this week for the first time on this journey! (19 jabs taken)

asparagusfearne · 14/05/2025 13:55

@HeavyHeidi I'm with you on the strawberries! A punnet every other day whilst we have British ones in season!

HeavyHeidi · 14/05/2025 16:20

and now of course, cherry season is starting soon. And then peaches and nectarines. And watermelons. Atkins will need to wait.

2025istheyeari · 14/05/2025 16:33

@MananaPenelope blimey, that’s some plateau 😳, how frustrating for you esp when you’re eating so little really. I can’t offer any suggestions, other than to agree with Jins, carbs really seem to impact me and having looked back at my fitness pal ( also a religious food tracker here), I have between 80-100g of carbs daily. Fruit other than berries really ups that level sadly as I love fruit and when I had my tummy problems a couple of months ago Oushk suggested I avoid fruit other than berries.
Also now v depressed at the thought of a set point lasting up to 6 months, that’s just ridiculous!!
I’ve lost 27% of my body weight, another 10% until I reach a healthy BMI and I’ve stalled too, the pound I put on over the weekend has gone up to 2🤷🏻‍♀️.

MJalltheway · 14/05/2025 17:02

I refuse to give up fruit, I would rather get to goal slower! As I see it, my current way of eating is basically it for life now. So it doesn't really matter to me if I get to goal in 6 months or a year, I won't change what I'm eating when I get there anyway other than to slightly increase the amounts.

just done a fab core class, I can see the improvement in what I can do already just a couple of weeks in. 💪
I have a new (Vinted) pair of under armour leggings on though and they were disappointingly roll-y, had to keep hoiking the waistband up. Back to the search for some that stay up over a jelly belly! Sweaty betty are the best I've found but I don't want to buy new at this stage and they are still mega-expensive on Vinted.
