Morning everyone! I have a night out on Friday and a day awards ceremony on Saturday. I currently own precisely ONE pair of size 14 jeans that fit 🤣
I've been using a couple of pre weight loss maxi dresses for going out up til now but everyone who will be there at these events has already seen them.
I've left it too late for Vinted and really don't want to spend a lot as I am only just more than half way through my journey ( I hope!)
There are a couple of charity shops in the small town I live in so I might take a walk in my WFH lunchbreak.
I can't believe this is now my problem! Until January, my problem was constantly growing out of clothes and having nothing that looked nice on! 🙃
Xxx

A problem for sure but what a wonderful problem to have! Yay you!

Zempy · 04/06/2025 08:27

Bear in mind you can always sell whatever you buy from the charity shop once you get EVEN SMALLER!!! 😀

Polkadotdash · 04/06/2025 08:34

Woken up this morning feeling tender all over, especially my arms and legs. Is this an MJ thing? Not had this before.

BreezyPeer · 04/06/2025 08:43

@meatyryvita @Zempy you are both right! A good problem to have. I probably do need to buy some more clothes to get me through to goal ( that could be some time away, probably the autumn). I need to get over the feeling that I am jinxing it somehow 😅

Zempy · 04/06/2025 08:46

Yeah I just bought stuff off Vinted and resell as I shrink. Bizarrely I find that I need far fewer clothes as a smaller person.

I think fat me was always buying clothes in search of that item that would make me look slim 🤣

UnderandOverwhelmed · 04/06/2025 08:51

Morning all
End of week 22 and a good 2.8lb loss bringing me to 50lbs down.
SW 223.6
CW 173.6
GW 140
Still feel I look pretty large but it's really encouraging that I have quite a bit less left to lose than I've already lost now. Hoping to get to my wedding weight by end of July as my next milestone.

Zempy · 04/06/2025 08:52

@Polkadotdashthat sounds odd. I would get checked out.

Does anyone have psoriasis and has noticed any impact? Mine is shockingly bad at the moment - I suspect it’s just a random flare up, but would be interested to hear if anyone has noticed any sort of change.

I’ve had the opposite - mine (scalp) has completely cleared. So bizarre! I’m sorry yours is bad atm - do you have a go to treatment? I have never really found anything that properly works, it’s always seemed linked to stress for me.

Jins · 04/06/2025 08:57

@0ncemorewithfee1ing I’ve never been diagnosed with psoriasis but I have patches behind and in my ear that appear occasionally and look very much like it. I’ve not had them for a while but for the last few months I’ve been dealing with the scaley bits and blaming my shampoo and/or earbuds.

All this talk of new clothes and shopping is amusing me quite a lot as so far I’ve made myself a top in the size down and altered some swimwear. There’s just one item that looks ridiculous on me and that’s a dolman sleeve midaxi dress. Everything else still fits well enough to still be worn. This morning I’ve tried on a top I made for a Xmas do when I was at my largest and weeks before starting MJ and it still looks ok.

Option 1 is that I have much lower standards in grooming and appearance than the rest of you and option 2 is that cultivating a loose and flowy style over the last 5 years or so has paid off. Or more likely both

I can also wear most of the same clothes 50lbs down. Tops are all fine, it was only my jeans that started looking big and I'm only.just in the size down. It's very confusing tbh!

HeavyHeidi · 04/06/2025 09:13

For people who have not changed sizes that much - it will come, the smaller you get the faster the sizes go down. I just bought some clothes, I swear by the time I got home from the shops the clothes were already too big 😃

And @Zempy yes, that! I was always buying clothes but then not wearing them. As Marian Keyes put it: "I hate shops that use those slanty forward mirrors so you think the dress makes you look slender and willowy. Like a poor fool I always reckon it's because of the great cut, so it's worth spending the debt of a small South American country on. Next thing you know, you're at home with a mirror that isn't slanty forward and you look like a pig in a frock."

Had a meeting with consultant this morning about the CT scan - I have mild to moderate health anxiety so whenever I have any tests or scans, I always imagine they find something serious. But no, internal organs tiptop shape, but he did recommend to get the hernia fixed and put mesh in to reinforce the rest. But I'm not allowed to lift more than 10 kilos for about 3 weeks after surgery, what about my biceps? I did try to bargain that I'm really strong and 10 kilos is nothing, but no.

Your hernia is most likely caused by your weightlifting so be careful afterwards and heed the doctors advice. I had the op for one a few years back and the hernia specialist asked if I did a lot of weightlifting as apparently it was the type usually seen in men who lift heavy weights! All I could think is that it could be from lifting heavy children and lugging furniture around for years (I used to almost obsessively redecorate the house and was always changing things around).

Im finding maintenance quite enjoyable so far - I think the effects of 7.5mg have diminished and I'm definitely hungrier. Im now having a decent lunch and dinner (still can't face breakfast). I had a quarterpounder with cheese meal yesterday from McD's as I was driving dd back from uni (after lugging more stuff around). It was yum and I actually pretty much ate it all 😋 also had a snickers bar 🙊 not a very healthy day but I enjoyed it! I think il do my last 7.5mg (bonus dose) today and then will probably use my new 7.5mg pen from Oushk to count clicks and do 5mg next week. Am weighing in on Friday and am keen to see whether I've maintained/gained or lost. My tdee is 1850 calories but I've only been having about 1200 most days so need to figure out a balance.

Therealmetherealme · 04/06/2025 10:23

Vinted has been great for me, but because pre-worn clothes can have shrunk, I have bought some new jeans, just to have an idea of what size I actually am!

Im looking at maintenance or a couple more lens fo get me through the summer holidays, does anyone order more than one pen at a time?

DGonMJ · 04/06/2025 10:25

Have a black tie event tonight where I’m up on stage way past my bedtime 😵‍💫 so have decided to work from home to save my energy!
Have sorted my outfit but decided to try on a couple of back up dresses from my wardrobe this morning - both 12. They didn’t look too big on me, but also they didn’t look great.
I really am going to need a big style overhaul. Next pay day!

@Polkadotdash does sound strange. I’ve had times on MJ where my body has felt like it’s shifting on the inside. Try to stay hydrated and make sure you eat enough.

@HeavyHeidi love that 10kg is nothing on your arms!

@0ncemorewithfee1ing i would have thought psoriasis, along with other inflammatory symptoms, would have cleared up on MJ. Have you changed your diet much (apart from less)? Or laundry detergent? Or under a lot of stress?

Will catch up on everyone’s news later. In the office and quick 2 mins to ask if anyone else has had an issue with injection site becoming red, a bit raised and itichy? First time for me and wondering if I need to worry?! Thanks!

God I love Marian Keyes!

It's a fairly normal reaction. I didn't have it either till started 7.5mg. Goes down over the week but can be quite annoying!

I’ve seen other posts on MN where people have advised a longer needle if it keeps coming back. But otherwise antihistamine cream might help.

Polkadotdash · 04/06/2025 11:07

Dr Google seems to say that the sore/painful skin is a side effect of MJ. Never knew that. Hoping it calms down as the week goes on or I might need to reduce my dose.

HeavyHeidi · 04/06/2025 11:12

@JoanCollinsDiva the surgeon blamed kids, said slight diastasis rectii as well. How was your surgery experience? My surgeon said he would put a mesh in to reinforce all of the abdominal wall, as if he only fixes the one I currently have, high chance new ones will pop up.

HeavyHeidi · 04/06/2025 11:15

@DGonMJ it's so much more fun to try different styles when 'does this make me look fat' is not a consideration. Many styles simply don't work on me - anything cute and girly and it looks like I'm trying to cosplay a child. But if I don't like the item, the reason is the style and not my massive stomach.

My experience was great, also had the mesh. I ended up in a private hospital which helped! The surgeon who performed the op works from a private clinic but does a certain amount of NHS patients (or something, can't remember). I had a private room and they brought a menu with food options and everything - I didn't want to go home 😂 But yes it was like having a tooth out except I was asleep. Recovery was fine and the area around it just sometimes feels tender when I'm due on - although like you I suspect I may have another one. Just the last couple of months when due on it pops up on the other side (it must be bc everything's swollen when menstruating). It doesn't bother me though so I'll leave it for now - the last one was a proper lump like I had a boiled egg under my skin! Scar has completely gone now too - op was about 5 years ago.

HeavyHeidi · 04/06/2025 14:18

Thanks @JoanCollinsDiva ! I have my health insurance in Switzerland and they're excellent, yes food options will be there :D
