Bought a pair of high waisted wide legged jeans from Vinted a few weeks ago. They are a lovely lilac colour which I would never have worn when I was bigger. They arrived about 3/4 weeks ago and I could JUST get them done up but they squeezed around my hips so much it made my hip bones hurt! I’ve lost 6lbs since then which I didn’t think would make such a difference, but I tried them on this evening and they fit like a glove. I am ecstatic! That’s two pairs of 28w jeans that fit me now 🎉

On the other hand, everything else is hanging off me and not even in a stylish oversized way. I am loathed to buy anything yet as I’m around 10lbs from my target so I will power through looking like a scruff until then.

meatyryvita · 01/06/2025 20:23

Amazing! Well done @discov - what a fantastic feeling!

Jins · 01/06/2025 20:26

Finally accepting that 7.5mg isn’t for me. Sulphur burps and diarrhoea again! Luckily that was my last dose prior to moving down next week. The plan was to do the next pen at 6.25mg anyway but I may do less as I’m on hols and it’s going to be hot. I don’t think a week on 5mg would hurt.

I’ve been so lucky with side effects so far so it’s disappointing that they’ve turned up in the last two weeks.

Smooth elbow skin seems to be a very common side effect of MJ - everyone - stroke your elbows and feel the silky smoothness!

That’s so odd!

Sorry to hear you’ve not been well on 7.5! How weird that you’ve had no side effects then would get some this far down the line. I am the same and have had no side effects thankfully, so can’t imagine how much it must have thrown you. I’d also probably just go for 5 if you’re going to be away somewhere hot. I always want to eat light when it’s hot anyway so it’s probably the perfect time to do it!

Here's to a new week of losses! It's great to see so many people approach maintenance. I can't believe I thought I would only be on MJ for a few months (3 probably) and then I would come off it.
I still have a way to go with my journey. My 'final goal' is only the very top of healthy BMI which I never really thought I would get near. As it starts to look more realistic I will probably make a new 'final goal' somewhere around bmi 22.5.
Happy Monday everyone! Xx

HeavyHeidi · 02/06/2025 07:33

happy Monday! and yes @BreezyPeer quite likely you will want to adjust your goal if it was 'oh I'll never get there anyway' goal like mine was.
The paper towel thing is so true though - I swear I see more of a difference with 1 kilo loss now than I did with the first 10. The Vinted pile is bigger and bigger.

Thelittlestranger · 02/06/2025 07:38

WI today and I'm 2.5lbs down on my old scales - not as much on my Renpho scales. Which is very annoying. They can weigh me anything between 1.5-2.5lbs heavier!!

But - I'm taking the originals, as they have got me this far. So happy that it's still moving down. Particularly as I ate a little more this week (only 50 cals a day) So might stick with that and see if I can still lose this week.

Goal does keep moving... usually by a 1lb or so, but once I hit it on the Renpho I'm ready to maintain.

@Jins 7.5 is the only one that has given me the runs. Not so bad, but definitely happens. TBH I've welcomed it versus constipation!!

MananaPenelope · 02/06/2025 07:40

Morning all. I’ll be keeping you company @BreezyPeer .

Yesterday my sister and her husband popped in unexpectedly so I went to M&S for emergency bbq supplies. We cooked outside but ate inside as the heavens opened for a couple of hours. I ate …… a M&S Wagyu burger, salad, sesame bun, small portion of apple crumble and clotted cream, strawberries, grapes, a nectarine. This added up to 1800 calories. A two day calorie quota!

Today, still constipated. However 1lb down this morning.

MananaPenelope · 02/06/2025 07:44

Oh, and I was 😳 when I got the burgers home, 625 cals each, they weren’t huge burgers, plus bun, plus scrape of butter and a thin piece of cheese. Plus salad. A 1000 calorie lunch.

UnderandOverwhelmed · 02/06/2025 07:57

@MananaPenelope it's odd but I often find i get a reasonable loss after a higher calorie day. I think it must be the water loss post more carbs and such. I think it only works after being in a calorie deficit most of the time, but it helps! Congratulations on the 1lb loss!

MananaPenelope · 02/06/2025 08:09

Really @UnderandOverwhelmed , I still feel full this morning and my midriff feels like it has rolls 🤣. The burger was absolutely lovely, not something I eat more than a couple of times a year and only ever cooked outside or at one particular pub, but there were a load with yellow stickers on and I thought it was an easy last minute cook.

Even though my weight loss is extremely s l o w compared to most on this thread I actually realised that I’m chuffed to be very close to 14 stone this morning.

tinyemmy · 02/06/2025 08:19

Good morning!

Being on a lower dose sounds sensible for holiday @Jins

Even though I'm kind of at my goal (I got to 8st 7.2 before holiday, I was 8st 7.4 when I got back but 8st 8 the last 2 days) I feel fat. There are rolls of fat when I sit down etc. It must have been worse before I lost the weight, but despite losing 3 stone I feel like I need to lose more. BMI is 22.4 which is great. I think my aim will be try and get to 8st 4 so I have some wiggle room, I don't want to be above 8st 7 ideally and concentrate on building some muscle so I'm less wobbly.

My daughter squished my flabby arms and said they were just like her Nana's arms all soft and squishy. She is 82 🙄

Happy Monday

Seaitoverthere · 02/06/2025 08:37

Having said I was going to crack on with losing again (didn’t want to be in calorie deficit with new medication so haven’t increased Mounjaro) having felt I had adjusted well to my new meds, I found I suddenly hadn’t and felt really sick week before last so missed a dose of Mounjaro which is first time I have skipped one. I certainly knew about it a few days after injection was due and would have done it but had Methotrexate injection to do and wanted to maintain the gap between both injections so waited until last Friday.

Had been looking to move to 7.5mg but felt that was unwise after having missed a week so did 6.5 and if all goes well will move up on Friday. Weight is holding pretty stable over the last 6 weeks on new meds. I am 2lbs heavier than my lightest weight but that was a one off on the scales and I do vary by a couple of pounds over a week so am pleased with that. Long way to go yet and I am the world’s slowest loser having lost a few pounds under 4 stone since November 2023 but Rome wasn’t built in a day and if I am nearly there this time next year I will be happy.

Zempy · 02/06/2025 08:46

We are all going to face obstacles on our journey, despite the “easy/cheating” allegations. I think it’s good practice for when we are maintaining.

I am grateful to those starting their maintenance journeys still posting here so we can learn from your experiences.

Re Vinted. Yeah. I live many peoples dream life in a tiny cottage by the sea. No room to run my burgeoning Vinted empire from here!! My bedroom looks like a Bangladeshi textile sweatshop. I need to get it all under control in a couple of weeks as having the house decorated when I am in France. Everything has to be put away. But there’s no “away” left 😂

Jins · 02/06/2025 08:53

@Thelittlestranger interesting that 7.5mg has been the one that gave you the runs. I was doing quite well on 6.25mg - wish I’d stayed there.

Feeling better today thank goodness. Haven’t had a sulphur burp yet which is a good sign. Will be taking both pepto bismol and milk of magnesia on holiday though. The older I get the more medications I have to travel with. Gone are the days of sharing a medium hold case and having just my handbag in the cabin.

UnderandOverwhelmed · 02/06/2025 08:53

Has anyone had experience of starting new medication whilst on mj that often has weight gain as a side effect?
I've foolishly come off my antidepressants as I ran out and the GP didn't get me the repeat prescription fast enough. I didn't seem to notice not being on them so I've not restarted but now 3.5 weeks later i think I need them again. One of the reasons for these ones was a sedative side effect which sorted out my insomnia and I'm back struggling to sleep again.
When I started these ones in September I think I put on a load of weight very quickly (can't be sure, was too scared to weigh myself) and I'm just really nervous that will happen again.

DGonMJ · 02/06/2025 09:01

Morning all!

@Jins sorry to hear the 7.5mg has kicked off unpleasant side effects. Hope you feel better soon.

Congrats on the burger induced loss @MananaPenelope, the body is a strange thing. I often find I lose after a big meal.

@tinyemmy I’ve also been feeling ‘fuller and fatter’ at the end of the day, especially with the increased calories. However I’m also wearing my new size 10 jumpsuit and it’s not tight so perhaps that feeling is just internal.
I also think our bodies need time to adjust to having less fat in it and the ‘rolls’ will tighten up over time.

I honestly don’t want to lose anymore weight but it’s such a mind shift to be ok with seeing the scales STS or even increase a little. Up to 61.7kg this morning - weighed after a peloton session, loads of water, no BM, on day 2 of my period - my rationale brain is saying this is a perfectly reasonable fluctuation.

I thought this was a good AMA on Reddit from an A&E doctor also on MJ: https://www.reddit.com/r/mounjarouk/s/5npLYeB77f

HeavyHeidi · 02/06/2025 09:02

How are you losers getting used to your smaller bodies? My brain is still not catching up, some days I look positively slim and other days I look in the mirror and see somene chunky. Not fat as such, but big and strong, not someone you would describe as 'slim' on a missing person's poster.
And then I meet someone I've always considered proper slim, and now they look bigger than me. It's just so weird.

Jins · 02/06/2025 09:21

Quick weigh in - I’ve lost 2 stone exactly. It’ll be back up again tomorrow when my system has reset but it feels good!

@HeavyHeidi I haven’t had to adjust too much as I’m yet to need new clothes and I’ve always tended to focus on the fat bits and miss the bigger picture. There was an interesting thing a long time ago when you were asked to pick your body shape from a line up and then get your partner to pick your shape out and see how they compared. My partner picked out a proper slim ‘boyish’ example and I picked a rather dumpy apple shape. I weighed about 8.5 st at the time and fitted into size 6-8 and it taught me to use mirrors only to check if my hair was a mess.

On the plus side - for the first time in years I didn’t think I was the fattest person round the pool

Thank you for this Reddit @DGonMJ really interesting. I got one am very happy on mj. I've lost weight really quickly but only really inline with if I'd been following fast800 or similar. The difference is I wouldn't have lasted more than 2 weeks without mj. I've not had any side effects (apart from mild constipation which I'm prone to anyway). I do think it's a wonder drug!

I think I look pretty good with clothes on and I think it's just a bit of body dysmorphia. I hope that a year down the line my body will be a bit tighter. I'm certainly not going down the surgery route (I've got two daughters who will have loose skin post pregnancy in the future and don't want them to think they need surgery to look good).

On the subject of daughters, I am focusing on nutrients in food and I hope that they will never have the issues I had. The youngest (although only 7) is very sensible with food, eats just what she needs and never overeats chocolate etc. the eldest (11) has ADHD but her medication helps her not overeat too much. I do have to watch her on the chocolate and sugar and tell them they can eat the "fun" foods but just once a day (not lunch pudding and dinner pudding for example). Fingers crossed this works for them!

@HeavyHeidi really struggling on the body side too! I know I'm slim as my jeans are about 2 sizes smaller (they're Jeana that I bought pre lockdown that used to fit and then didn't)

@Jins I'm with you on the pool front. I even went to the bar without covering up. I didn't need to quickly jump in the pool so no one could see me. My body isn't perfect but I felt so much more confident and no thigh rub!!!

discov · 02/06/2025 12:03

I’m struggling on the body side too. I feel the same where some days I feel like I look slim then others I feel as fat as when I first started. But then I will catch my reflection in a shop window and not recognise myself at first because it’s a slim person looking back.

I think my biggest struggle is I genuinely am still wobbly - especially my thighs, upper arms and stomach. So I look fine in clothes but not so much in my underwear. But I still have another half a stone to lose at least, and may lose more if I decide I want to. Plus I’ve been yo-yo-ing up and down for the best part of 15 years, so even though I’m only 34 my body and skin has been through it a bit and I shouldn’t expect to look like a thin toned goddess!!

I spent some time looking at my ‘before’ photos yesterday and that has really helped me see how different I look. I thought especially my arms hadn’t changed at all but they really have.

HeavyHeidi · 02/06/2025 13:12

I have to say my saggy and wrinkled skin has improved a lot. Already bought a tankini because even just some weeks ago, stomach really didn't look good. But might not even need it, has shrunk nicely.

I hope this happens to mine! I do think mine has improved very very slightly from the last few lbs weight loss so hopefully another 7+lbs will help.
