Sitting at Vienna airport waiting for my flight back. Have to say, food-wise the trip was not bad at all. All means were a buffet, so took small portions, generally skipped anything too calorific. Only challenge was the wine tasting evening, I really cannot handle alcohol any more. Even just those tasting amounts did not actually improve my mood like alcohol did before, and I slept absolutely terribly. Lessons learned.
Oh and hotel didn't have a gym! So I don't expect I've lost anything this week, but back to normal eating and exercising tomorrow.

meatyryvita · 21/05/2025 16:18

Am at Barcelona airport waiting to come home. My hotel had a gym @HeavyHeidi but it didn’t open until 8am! No good when you have 9am meetings!

I ate pretty well but had to pop to a supermarket for some protein yoghurts at one point as there were too many carbs on offer. a few glasses of wine here and there but I tooo it easy. Hit my steps every day, with a trip best of over 16k on Monday.

Roll on getting home and back to normal!

HeavyHeidi · 21/05/2025 16:22

@meatyryvita oh how ridiculous, many people prefer to exercise before beakfast. And what do they have there to 'open' anyway - surely hotel gyms should al be 24h as a default. I've often been exercising at 3AM when I have woken up (or not asleep yet) due to jet lag.

BlueLimes · 21/05/2025 20:14

I had a bit more to eat today -1500. I thought sod it, I’m not losing on low carb let’s see what a bit extra does!
Granola with my yogurt and fruit was definitely more filling (I’m an idiot).

DGonMJ · 21/05/2025 20:17

Loving all these jetset posts!

Day 2 of maintenance and I didn’t weigh myself this morning. I’m tracking calories today just to see if I can get to 1700. DH gave me a snack of apple and peanut butter, told me the weights after I ate it. 50g of peanut butter is 340 calories! On top of the 80 calorie apple, that’s a 420 calorie snack FGS.
So seems I’ll have no probs hitting a higher calorie limit while on 5mg, but now I need to make sure I only have a small dinner.

HeavyHeidi · 21/05/2025 20:30

Oh dear - got home and DH has man flu. Shuffles around in his dressing gown of doom and moans at regular intervals. You know this sketch? Just like that.

That's a LOT of peanut butter! I often have an apple and peanut butter if I'm having a snack. 1 tbsp is a decent amount of peanut butter, 50g is more than 3 tbsps! Never let DH serve portions I think is the lesson there!

Had a good day today, work has been really stressful but hopefully things getting sorted out now. Went to my core class, flipping hard but very satisfying. My Fitbit tells me I've done 15 hours of exercise so far this month, more than I did in the whole of last month. Very chuffed and feeling great!

HeavyHeidi · 22/05/2025 06:05

Official weigh in this morning and 61.5 kilos. I am below the sticky 62, let's see if this lasts. Mother's Day this weekend here and I know DH has some restaurant plans. I did ask for a fancy one with small portion sizes.

Therealmetherealme · 22/05/2025 06:33

Checking in, haven’t been around since thread 5!
SW 1st Jan 15st 3.8
CW 11st 3
GW 11st but for BMI 10.10.

I haven’t gone higher than 5 mg, as much as I feel this may be a long time thing, I’m going to try a 2.5 next and take a break, to see how if I can manage on my own. Terrified of piling on the weight but at least I know I can go back on if I need to.

Anyone on Ousk maintenance?

meatyryvita · 22/05/2025 06:58

Just done my weigh in and was not expecting much as I’m so bloated from an abnormal diet and my flights. I’ve lost 1.8lbs though which was a huge surprise.

SW- 15st 10lb
CW- 13st 2lb
GW 9st 10 lb

MananaPenelope · 22/05/2025 06:58

Well done 👏, great losses.

I seem to be ↘️ again. 91kg, that’s 3kg in two weeks. It must have been the heat as I doubt I’ve lost that much. Long may it last. 14% of starting weight lost. Loose goal date is Halloween 👻 🎃. I’ll keep my fingers crossed and keep plodding on, it took two years to gain so ten months to lose is ok with me.

DGonMJ · 22/05/2025 07:10

Hooray for losses!

@Therealmetherealme i’ve got my maintenance call with Oushk today. Planning to stay on 5mg for a month or so and then titrate down to 2.5mg. Not planning on coming off completely any time soon.

MJalltheway · 22/05/2025 07:12

Great news that the stickiness of the last few weeks seems to be on the move again now
official weigh in day is tomorrow but today I'm only 100g off reaching 50% of goal, so fingers firmly crossed for that tomorrow! That would be so exciting.
I'm definitely starting to notice more body changes now. I'm still like an egg on legs but more of a duck egg as opposed to an Easter egg now. I look half-decent clothed (big boobs help hide big stomach!) but a long way to go yet.
Also predicting a Halloween-ish timescale to get to goal at current rate of loss

DGonMJ · 22/05/2025 07:13

@MJalltheway after last night’s peanut butter snack debacle I couldn’t actually finish my dinner. High fat foods really fill me up!
Weight is still 62.2kg this morning so at least I haven’t gained.

Fingers crossed for your 50% milestone tomorrow!

This is one of the reasons to eat (naturally) high fat foods! Or at least, don't avoid them. I have lots of avocado, nuts, cheese, EVOO because it helps satiety.

HeavyHeidi · 22/05/2025 07:21

the paper towel theory is true, weight loss is a lot more noticeable when you get closer to goal.
My legs still don't want to let go of the fat layer though. I'm happy with my upper body and even stomach is now basically flat, but legs still chunky. Hoping that the last few kilos I want to lose will now finally go from there.

BreezyPeer · 22/05/2025 07:42

Weigh and jab day today! Finally met my interim goal.I've taken 50 clicks from a 7.5mg pen today so hopefully get back on track losing. If I don't lose this week I will go up to 7.5mg. 3.75 was so good for me for so long! I am reluctant to go up even more ( odd 🤔 isn't it!)

Zempy · 22/05/2025 08:21

Weighed in!

NYC was carbtastic but I only put on a pound. I am absolutely OK with that. I had pre booked food delivery so will be back on the low carb/high protein diet from today, and I am confident I will lose that pound by the end of the week.

I suspect it will be autumn before I am ready to go for maintenance. I only have another stone to lose to get to mid point healthy BMI, but I reckon it will come off slowly.

I really am enjoying wearing clothes again and it’s hard not to go crazy on Vinted!

Well done all you Great Losers!

Zempy · 22/05/2025 08:24

Oh! If anyone is a former Northern Exposure fan who doesn’t have Amazon Prime, they show it on BA in flight entertainment.

Made me so happy!

Lovetoridemybicycle · 22/05/2025 08:42

It's been a while since I posted, but today I'm celebrating hitting 2 stone loss (well 2stone 1lb in a sudden woosh) after 2 weeks of nothing (I have been eating a bit crap, but within calories, after my MIL passing away- she was one of the good ones).
This also coincides with getting under 300lb, deciding that a couple of work shirts are just too baggy, being able to wear a previously too small shirt and finally being back to my pre-covid weight- the last time I dieted.
Next stop is to get under 40BMI- currently 41.7.
Might celebrate tonight with a takeaway! (Kidding! 😂)

HeavyHeidi · 22/05/2025 08:44

that's amazing, @Lovetoridemybicycle ! You must be feeling so much better.

Polkadotdash · 22/05/2025 08:49

@Therealmetherealme 4 stone loss is incredible! Well done! You must be feeling and seeing a difference.

I have FINALLY heard back from Zava (my original provider):

"many thanks for your recent message, and we do apologise for the delay in our reply to your query. Unfortunately we were unable to reply as soon as we usually do, due to unprecedented demand on our services. Please be assured we are currently working hard to improve this for all our patients.
With regards to your message, we do appreciate the frustration here. Unfortunately, it would not be appropriate for us to treat you remotely and we are therefore unable to offer you a prescription. This is because from the information and photos provided you appear to have a BMI that is lower than our threshold for continuing this treatment, and may no longer need this medication.

Once you have reached a healthy BMI (which is under 25 for most people) or your target weight if it’s higher, your aim should be to maintain your weight, rather than keep losing more. We’d recommend aiming for a BMI of around 22-23. You can calculate your BMI here: https://www.nhs.uk/health-assessment-tools/calculate-your-body-mass-index/calculate-bmi-for-adults

Remember, your aim should always be to make appropriate lifestyle changes whilst on treatment so that eventually you won’t need medication any more, and can continue maintaining a healthy weight without it.

When the time is right to stop using Mounjaro, it is not necessary to reduce your dose gradually - you can just stop using the treatment immediately.

In the meantime, please have a look at the NHS website for more general information on eating well and living well:

https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/eat-well/

https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/

Thank you for using ZAVA.

Kind regards"

Not really a helpful message but I thought I would post it here as just a heads up to anyone using Zava....and for those who may be in a similar position to me. What concerned me was the doctor saying that I could just stop using the MJ straight away: I thought there was higher risks of people regaining the weight. It goes without saying that lifestyle changes must be made. I also made it very clear (in every contact that I had with them), that I had no wish to lose more weight! So I don't feel that they addressed my messages at all. Maybe I am wrong there.

Morning all, glad those travelling have had a good time!

Official W17 weigh in and I’ve lost 2lbs this week 🥳 Weirdly I did weigh 3lbs lighter a couple of days after my jab but then went back up again slightly. I am thrilled with 2lbs though, on top of my 2.6lbs last week. Both really big losses for me.

SW: 12st 2
CW: 9st 12
GW: 9st (or just under for a buffer!)

I am struggling a bit with my head catching up with my weight loss. I still feel/see myself as being bigger even though I’m now firmly a size 10. I think maybe because I am still wobbly, but the only exercise I do is 90 minutes of dog walking a day so it’s to be expected. But my lovely DH talked it through with me this morning and said I look so slim and the bits I am focussing on he does not see at all. I guess we are our own worst critics. Not sure if anyone else feels this way? I lost 3st after I had my dd and went from a size 18/20 to a small 14 and it took me ages to stop picking up bigger sizes in shops, so maybe it just takes a little time.

Also DH is starting a new job and he said he thinks I’ll be good to stay on a maintenance dose as long as I need to!! Which is such a relief as it’s been tight money-wise to even be on MJ since January. I’ve been really worried about maintenance and potentially having to fully stop so I’m glad there’s no pressure to come off it totally until I am ready.

BlueLimes · 22/05/2025 10:26

Quick post as I’m at work - amazing losses and progress 😊
