Re my food choice …. Does anyone think I’m not choosing ‘sensibly’? DC love the tacos, I always have the sea bass or hake. Portions aren’t huge, I rarely eat all my food.

Thank you 🙏 @BreezyPeer .

Scales and Eufy app far less rude today. A 1.5lb loss after STS last week. I’ve also moved out of ‘extremely high’ in all categories (not that I was in that category for all measurements - it was 2 of them IIRC).

Week 15
SW 15.10
CW 13.3.8
GW 9.10

I’m flying to Barcelona this Sunday for a work trip and was hoping to have a weight starting with a 12 but as I’m there or thereabouts, I’m okay with it.

@MananaPenelope the seabass looks like a fine, healthy choice! Enjoy it!

Onwards and downwards losers! May our scales develop some manners!

Pandora71 · 15/05/2025 07:39

@MananaPenelope the “what would you order” menu challenge is a good one!

I think I’d go for the prawn tacos and ask for it with a salad instead of fries.

Your choice is fine of course but if you always feel like you are missing out then sometimes it better to find a way to
enjoy the treat without going overboard.

BreezyPeer · 15/05/2025 07:42

@MananaPenelope is there any mileage in just choosing the meal you actually fancy on the day and just eating as much of it as you want? As you are in a plateau anyway? Maybe trying something different? 🤔 but . . . I'm all advice for other people while not able to shift my sticky point myself 🤣

HeavyHeidi · 15/05/2025 07:42

@MananaPenelope I'm 5'6, so healthy weight now, shouldn't really complain. But there's still plenty of room on the normal BMI scale to go lower. I do expect to gain a few kilos back when in maintenance, so want to have a buffer as well.

Oh and people complaining about sagging skin, went to my clinic and he highly recommended something called Attiva. I am reading about it, could be an option. Very expensive though, and also while the providers claim a mild swelling for a day or 2 , several reviews have said they were swollen for a week. So if I decide to go for that, will need to time it over holidays or at least time when I can WFH for a week.

MananaPenelope · 15/05/2025 07:44

I like the ‘what would you order’ challenge. 🤣 I don’t like batter or fried stuff @Pandora71 , never have done so not a MJ thing. I’ve tried a bit of DCs tacos before … not for me.

MananaPenelope · 15/05/2025 07:44

That’s a great weight @HeavyHeidi 🏆.

MananaPenelope · 15/05/2025 07:48

Re what I really want, it probably is the sea bass, or maybe the mussels but I’m trying to avoid bread (and the bread is 😍). Perhaps I’ll switch to the mussels.

We probably spend five weeks at the house, so lots of eating there opportunities.

HeavyHeidi · 15/05/2025 07:49

@MananaPenelope how about the mussles? I know it's cream sauce, but you won't eat that much the sauce really.

HeavyHeidi · 15/05/2025 07:49

ah crossposted

Jins · 15/05/2025 07:52

@MananaPenelope Nice menu. The seabass would be my choice for sure both before MJ and now but the fish experience thing looks fun. I love risotto but even before MJ could only manage a tiny portion.

It’s rare for me to eat out nowadays, I think only twice since starting MJ, I get fed up scouring the menu for banned ingredients. That menu looks wonderful for me - I’d have choice!

hunkydory54 · 15/05/2025 08:00

Has anyone come across the Human Being Diet? I’ve read the book and started it last year before MJ. It’s hard to begin with. Anyway I think it said in there to have a treat meal regularly so your body doesn’t get used to one type of eating. Could be something to do with metabolism maybe and maybe help with our sticky weights 🤷‍♀️

DGonMJ · 15/05/2025 08:07

@MananaPenelope seabass looks pretty healthy to me. Depending on what was in I might go for the fish experience, but otherwise seabass. Pre-MJ I would have ordered oysters, maybe the crab starter too as well as a main.

MananaPenelope · 15/05/2025 08:22

Thank you everyone, sort of affirming 😂.

@DGonMJ , we always get six oysters to share between three of us, I’ll eat one, two at an absolute push. An oyster is less than ten cals raw. Plus a bit of fairly low calorie shallot vinegar, so that’s like fresh air really isn’t it. Sadly my body seems to be able to maintain on fresh air!

asparagusfearne · 15/05/2025 08:38

@MananaPenelope it will be fish tacos for me please, and stop when it's enough!

Polkadotdash · 15/05/2025 08:47

@MananaPenelope that menu would be easy for me. One veg/vegan choice only, so I’m if not having the cauliflower tacos, I ain’t eating!! Well I could just have chips, I suppose. Unless they are fried in beef fat.
This is why I don’t get how I’m so overweight!

Jins · 15/05/2025 09:09

Constipation back with a vengeance and as we fly tomorrow I won’t be doing anything too heroic to resolve it. Was planning on dropping back to 6.25mg tomorrow but may drop back to 5mg instead. 7.5mg is just too much suppression at the moment and while more rapid loss is always welcome I would prefer the last half stone to be slower

I’m pretty well packed. DH is yet to start even thinking about what to take. This year I’m not going to suggest anything sensible like checking his swim stuff is still fit to wear or whether he’s used a decent tee shirt for painting. Every year is the same - I get told I pack too much and don’t need all that stuff and every year he asks if we’ve packed any nail clippers or mossie spray. Or phone chargers. We!!!! Surely he knows he’s only packed a few clothes and his razor?

HeavyHeidi · 15/05/2025 09:13

Ah I also need to think what to pack for next week's work trip. Usually I do it like an hour before heading out, I travel quite a bit so have most of my essentials always ready - travel bag of cosmetics, set of chargers and so on.
But this time it's Austrian Airlines, they have 8kg limit for hand luggage and they do actually weigh all suitcases. 8kg is not that much if you want a pair of shoes and your own hairdryer.

Wow, that's not much! For my trip, I was thinking of hand luggage only, given I'll be away for 4 days, 3 nights but my bag will weigh much more than 8kg, I'm sure!

discov · 15/05/2025 10:07

Weigh in day for me and I’ve lost 2.6lbs this week! I STS last week and have bounced up and down for a couple of weeks previously so really pleased. Anything over 1lb loss is amazing for me.

I’m still in the 9st range (9st 13 so only just) despite going for a meal with my friends last night. I had a falafel burger without the bun on a bed of salad with 2 halloumi fries, and also Cajun chips on the side and I ate most of it. Plus a post-dinner cocktail. So I was fully expecting to be showing 10st something again on the scales this morning.

Personally to be honest, if I'm going out for a meal which doesn't happen often, I don't worry about what I choose. I'd choose whatever you fancy. One meal isn't going to make the slightest difference in the long run - if you want fish tacos - have them!
I think it does your metabolism good to shake it up sometimes and have some days where you have more than normal.

JoanCollinsDiva · 15/05/2025 11:31

MJalltheway
Im the same when eating out - I have what I fancy, although that does tend to be plain-ish stuff nowadays like the steak or fish with veg and il have a few of dh's chips or potatoes. If we go for a curry I can usually only manage plain chicken tikka and some rice. That menu looks delicious though mananapenelope - I think you should cut yourself a break and have whatever you fancy. Also, as hunkydory54 mentioned above - I have found in the past when dieting and I've reached a plateau sometimes having a week or so of eating "normally" and not counting calories can reset your body and then when you go back to the diet it is somehow shocked into losing again. I think it's called zigzag dieting - it always worked for me. Thing is on MJ it may be impossible to stuff your face for a few days!

Jins - my dh exactly the same, takes 5 mins to throw a few things in a bag then wants to know have I brought tweezers and a two point plug or something.

RockyisMYRhino · 15/05/2025 12:19

Weigh in and jab 19 (7.5 jab three) day for me today and I’m down another 1.5 lbs which I’m extremely pleased with as I had a mate date which included a Chinese takeaway (with accompanying wine!) and a visit to a local food festival where I had a katsu chicken curry with lots of rice (which I shared with the DC when I’d had enough. They were over the moon as mummy doesn’t often share food lol) and a lovely pint of cider. Annoyingly DH managed to lose 2lbs even though he basically had two fried chicken dinners in an afternoon at the festival 🤯
SW: 15 st 1lb
CW: 13st 6.2lb
GW: 10st 7lb

2025istheyeari · 15/05/2025 12:48

@MananaPenelope menu looks fab! Like you I’d probably go for seabass or the fish experience, that sounds yum! But you should go for what you’d like, I agree that sometimes your body needs a bit of a shake up especially when weight loss is stalling. Hope you enjoy. ( also is that near Whitby? I think we may have been to the restaurant a few years ago, my husbands family live in Durham and we’ve had many a day trip to Whitby/ Robin Hood Bay/ Staithes)

Oh no Jins, hope the constipation clears up soon and that you have a fab holiday! My husband is exactly the same with nail clippers, so much so it’s a standing joke, we have bloody nail clippers from all around the world!!

I'm also on a work trip next week, only overnight but already wondering how I'm getting everything my case. At least my clothes are smaller now though so wont take as much room up! Just need to convince myself that I don’t need 3 pairs of shoes 🤣

Well done to everyone who’s lost and solidarity for anyone who’s stayed the same or put on, I’m there with you!

MananaPenelope · 15/05/2025 14:38

Re having what I fancy, I’m just not enjoying much at all so end up being sensible. But I always have the sea bass or mussels so no change there. Maybe I’ll emerge in a carb induced coma after scoffing a loaf of bread with my mussels.

Yes @2025istheyeari , near Whitby. My family has had a house there for generations (long before was remotely swanky). We all use it. It’s sort of part of the fabric of us and our kids.
