I think I’ve made a huge mistake

Please don’t judge me, I’m panicking - I got Ozempic from a friend of a friend and since taking my first dose yesterday, I can’t stop being sick - 1 bout before bed, 2 this morning. The nausea is so bad, I can’t eat. The smell of food makes it worse.

When will it stop? I won’t be taking the second dose next week as I can’t live like this.

I’ve been so stupid.

Was it in a properly branded pen? Are you sure it’s actually ozempic?

Ginisatonic · 02/05/2025 11:44

How much did you take? Is it in genuine packaging and in date? Can you be 100% sure it was refrigerated?

WeAllHaveWings · 02/05/2025 11:45

You need to phone 111 and fess up and get proper advice or go to A&E.

Be ready to tell them if it proper pen prescribed to your friend from a registered pharmacy and you took from the pen, the name of the pharmacy or whoever supplied your friend (if that information is available), what strength it was and your medical history. Be completely honest with them they need accurate information to treat you correctly.

You have been very silly, hope you get the treatment you need.

curious79 · 02/05/2025 11:47

Sounds like how I felt when I took prescription Ozempic. Absolutely sick as a dog. Couldn't wait for the feeling to wear off (took c 5 days). Head swimming, vomiting in random places. The only thing you can do is barely eat, and what you do eat be very healthy.

TurtleNest · 02/05/2025 11:47

It doesn't sound like what you've taken was prescribed for you and fulfilled by a pharmacy? So what you've got is an unknown substance, and it might well have poisoned you.

You need to get yourself to A&E, and take whatever you've got left of the substance you've taken with you so they can test it.

The "only thing" she can do is get qualified medical support for significant side effects from a medication not prescribed to her and potentially might be counterfeit.

buriedminion · 02/05/2025 11:50

Why are some adults so fucking stupid?

helpwillalwayscometothosethatneedit · 02/05/2025 11:50

I presume you paid for it! It could be anything. Report your friend of a friend she could kill someone.

Get some digestive salts and keep hydrated.

Lundier · 02/05/2025 11:50

You must go to the hospital because you may have poisoned yourself. Please take care of yourself and get medical help now.

Sunnyglowdays · 02/05/2025 11:51

You need medical attention. How much did you pay for it? It sounds very likely that this isn’t a genuine drug you’ve taken.

agree. Can’t believe the dangerous advice from @curious79 ! We don’t know what OP has taken as it isn’t from a legitimate source.

KoalaPineapple · 02/05/2025 11:56

Backing up other responses - you must go to the hospital or at the very least call 111 (who will send you to the hospital)

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 02/05/2025 11:57

You need to go to A&E and take the pen with you.

TurtleNest · 02/05/2025 11:57

Just to add; please don't let embarrassment or similar stop you from seeking medical aid. You absolutely won't be the first person to present at A&E for this, and you won't be the last. The sooner you seek medical aid, the better.

(Also, it being a Friday and a bank holiday, the waiting times at A&E are only going to get worse as the day progresses!)

UnderHisEyeOverMyDeadBody · 02/05/2025 11:57

100% ozempic. She gave me 0.5mg.

I know I’ve been an absolute idiot!!! Really out of character for me but I was desperate.

I’m currently feeling ok, but dreading the nausea returning and the random vomiting.

OP posts:
VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 02/05/2025 11:58

If by Ozempic you mean semaglutide then you have taken too much. The starting dose is 0.25mg.

What do you mean, ‘100% Ozempic’? How can you possibly be so certain?

Sorry, but anyone doing this is dumb as a rock. And no judgment re WLI — I’m on them too, but they’re prescribed and bought from an actual pharmacy. Why didn’t you go through proper safe channels?

SilenceInside · 02/05/2025 12:02

Presumably the OP wouldn't have qualified for a prescription, hence getting it illegally.

HansHolbein · 02/05/2025 12:04

And this is exactly why we have to fight against so much shit. Makes us all look stupid.

Go to the Doctor. We aren’t medical professionals.

ForeverDelayedEpiphany · 02/05/2025 12:07

Please be careful with any medication, OP.

Ever since I was permanently harmed by a prescribed off label antipsychotic anf it gave me a neurological involuntary movement disorder, I've been (probably) overcautious about anything that goes into my body. If anything, I'm almost averse to taking any more prescribed medication.

Get some proper medical professionals to help, as PP say.

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 02/05/2025 12:07

Go to the bloody doctor. Yes, you'll probably get a bit of a bollocking, but it's better than doing yourself some permanent damage or being dead.

InfoSecInTheCity · 02/05/2025 12:08

Even if it’s genuine it may have been incorrectly stored and have you checked the expiry date? Ultimately you aren’t the first and won’t be the last so just call 111 and get some medical advice then do what they tell you to do.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 02/05/2025 12:08

OP, please, get medical attention.

The best case scenario is that you have lucked out and been given genuine semaglutide, in which case you have taken a double dose.

Much more serious is the high likelihood that you have taken a substance which is not genuine, or out of date, or otherwise adulterated. Whatever you have, it was procured illegally and you have no idea if it is safe.

WeAllHaveWings · 02/05/2025 12:12

You have been given double the dose you should have.

You cannot trust the information from the "friends" who have given you this.

How do you know it is genuine Ozempic. Did you see the friend of a friends prescription and the Ozempic pen? It is normally Wegovy given for weight loss, why did they have Ozempic which is licensed for diabetes?

You need to go to and be completely honest with A&E taking the pen with you and any extra information if you have it.

Have you contacted a medical professional yet? You need to.

CautiousLurker01 · 02/05/2025 12:15

SilenceInside · 02/05/2025 12:02

Presumably the OP wouldn't have qualified for a prescription, hence getting it illegally.

Which may be another reason she is so sick - if you are under 30BMI and taking TWICE the starting dose then you need to seek medical help, OP. And this is assuming the pen actually contains the drug it says it does - it could absolutely be counterfeit and contain absolutely anything. Friend of a friend, indeed? JFC.

Honestly, I hate to use words like ‘stupidity’ and ‘recklessness’ but these apply in abundance here.
