I think I’ve made a huge mistake

Please don’t judge me, I’m panicking - I got Ozempic from a friend of a friend and since taking my first dose yesterday, I can’t stop being sick - 1 bout before bed, 2 this morning. The nausea is so bad, I can’t eat. The smell of food makes it worse.

When will it stop? I won’t be taking the second dose next week as I can’t live like this.

I’ve been so stupid.

@BigHeadBertha the only legitimate and legal way to get Wegovy/Mounjaro is via a prescription, either private or via the NHS. Both require you to have a BMI in the obese range, but the NHS has chosen not to prescribe for people unless they have a very high BMI with several weigh related health issues. You cannot buy compounded versions of these medications in the UK, they are not approved or legal to supply.

Ah, okay. Thank you.

@mrsmiggins78 it really isn't going to wear off in a few days. The levels in her system are still going to be higher than the starting dose of 0.25mg in a week's time. Because she's gone straight in at 0.5mg. She only did the injection yesterday, so the amount in her system will likely still be rising at the moment.

Ok but if it’s a legit product what do you think the nhs is going to do. They will tell her to wait it out and not to do it again. And if any new symptoms arise to get back in touch with them. People are being hysterical

I get quoted an awful lot about my grammar no change there and i really cant be bothered to explain it either.
Hundreds of people over many decades even before weight loss drugs became a thing.
People done it the hard way.
I stand by my words mindset is key to start.
Ozempic is not the best for everyone and ozempic face well you only have to look online for that.
I have an opinion like everyone else.

Oxempic face is not a thing. Extreme weight loss causes the saggy face whether it is done via an injection or just severe dieting. It’s not the injection itself that causes it. It’s the same with the bum and boobs and tummy. Anyone who loses a great deal of weight will end up what loose skin and if it’s taken to excess they will end up with what is being called ozempic face.

I agree that what the OP has described sounds like the typical reaction to too high of a dose and will wear off in a few days.

However, at the same time, we can't know for sure that it's only that, especially if whoever gave it to her is operating outside the law. If that's the case then to me that calls everything into question.

SilenceInside · 02/05/2025 15:51

@blueleavesgreensky I would expect the 111 service to run through their usual checks for anyone that phones them with a possible medical issue. They will then advise based on the OPs medical history and the situation, which is something that none of us here can do.

Of course everyone is entitled to an opinion.

It is just unfortunate yours took a wrong turn at the facts and ended up in nonsense.

Before penicillin and antibiotics, over many decades people died. Medicine evolves and improves and there is no reason for us not to take advantage of that. I could do it the hard way regarding my sight for eg, and hope I don't walk into traffic too often. Or I could take advantage of the invention of contact lenses and see clearly.
Why should weight loss be the one thing that's done the hard way if it doesn't need to be?

Crikeyalmighty · 02/05/2025 16:25

@blueleavesgreensky I would agree if OP had bought it from say Medexpress but that’s not the case - she bought it off a random
operating outside the law

IDontHateRainbows · 02/05/2025 16:27

Not saying not to be honest with the docs - but your friend might get done for this or at the very least a visit from the fuzz - so be prepared to wave goodbye to the friendship

UnderHisEyeOverMyDeadBody · 02/05/2025 11:57

100% ozempic. She gave me 0.5mg.

I know I’ve been an absolute idiot!!! Really out of character for me but I was desperate.

I’m currently feeling ok, but dreading the nausea returning and the random vomiting.

If you’re desperate then go onto any of many online prescribing services for weight loss injections, give your info, go through the process and pay for it when they prescribe. Take it while being fully instructed how to.

I have definitely used the wrong phrasing in my posts.

By friend of a friend, I meant I found out about the business through friends.

She is legit and not going to destroy her pharmaceutical/business reputation with counterfeit goods.

I panicked as I have a phobia of being sick and I catastrophise, but all is settling down now and I’m getting on with my day.

I couldn’t get it via the NHS as I don’t fit the BMI criteria but I am still overweight and need to shift it for health reasons.
I didn’t want to eat myself into oblivion in order to fit the criteria to be prescribed it on the NHS, which was always an option.

if she’s handing out drugs without a prescription and medical screening and at the wrong dose then she is not running a pharmaceutical business she’s is a a drug dealer and breaking all kinds of laws.

you need to seek medical attention because you really have no idea what you have ingested.

if you want to continue with weight loss injections then do what everyone else does and pay for a private prescription with a legitimate pharmacy.

ItsOoooon · 02/05/2025 16:34

I too am overweight OP but don’t meet the ozempic criteria.

even if I did I wouldn’t fucking take it! Especially in this way.

your health is extremely important. Far better to be carrying a few pounds than taking a drug not prescribed for you. Eat better and move your butt, please.

Most people are not eligible for weight loss medication from the NHS. They buy it direct from pharmacies via a private prescription instead as the NHS criteria is very tight. There was absolutely no reason from you to get it from the black market like this.

Changeyourlifes · 02/05/2025 17:50

Also it’s not “counterfeit goods”. I feel like that minimises the issue.

Because you don’t have a chain of custody of whatever you put in your body, you don’t know what it is. It’s completely possible for you to have injected any liquid. You don’t know if it had been tampered with. At best it could be an amended version of GLP1s, at worst it could be god knows what.

I don’t know what you mean by a pharmaceutical business. If she is a pharmacist she could be struck off for giving you medication without a valid prescription. surely that should help you see how shady this is?

Justhere65 · 02/05/2025 18:06

justkeepswimingswiming · 02/05/2025 15:01

You wouldn’t inject heroin so why are you injecting a random drug into your body without medical advice? Can’t cure stupid.

Nasty.

Sunshineandpool · 02/05/2025 18:15

RatalieTatalie · 02/05/2025 14:07

You can get weight loss medication through the NHS, if you are referred by a weight management program.

Yes, but getting on to the weight management programme is the problem!

Sunshineandpool · 02/05/2025 18:20

Hi OP - I hope you are ok?

I'm assuming when you say you couldn't get it on the NHS you meant because the criteria just to be referred to a weight management programme is so strict. You can get a prescription from a private provider and the criteria are much less strict. Of course this is expensive. Did you go to the 'friend of a friend' for financial reasons? Or were you not aware you may be able to get WLI legitimately through a private provider?

Anyway, I do hope you are ok and that you have sought medical advice.

She may be a friend but she is a silly one

giving you it , let alone the dose

double what it should be

she should be ashamed of herself and deserve to be reported

but no point having a go at you

if you are still feeling sick /being sick go to a&e or lesst call 111 thi they may take hours in returning call

you are prob going to feel poorly for a week or so till out of system /a lower dose in body

She should be saying byebye to the 'friend' anyway - they were happy enough to sell drugs to them

It is considered informative enough by the prescribers though, for what they need to do their job.
If your mate fills in the form and one of you has a history of something and the other doesn't, then that question can't be answered correctly. That information is also only going to one person's doctors for their records, but those records won't be correct if they aren't using the full prescription.

I’ve had to fill in the forms and supply photos of myself with my name and date written on paper and a photo of me standing on the scales. Still open to abuse no doubt but it certainly isn’t just a 2 minute form.

Plus, they put you on a titration schedule, so there's no chance of starting on too high a dose
