I think I’ve made a huge mistake

Please don’t judge me, I’m panicking - I got Ozempic from a friend of a friend and since taking my first dose yesterday, I can’t stop being sick - 1 bout before bed, 2 this morning. The nausea is so bad, I can’t eat. The smell of food makes it worse.

When will it stop? I won’t be taking the second dose next week as I can’t live like this.

I’ve been so stupid.

I’m onboard with everyone else. At the very least call 111. You need medical attention. The friend needs reporting.
no judgement but why didn’t you go through a registered provider?

Choux · 02/05/2025 12:43

The weight loss injection industry is a multi billion dollar industry globally. I am sure there are very convincing looking but counterfeit pens being produced and sold all over the world. It could be the weight loss equivalent of a fake Rolex. If you got it via a friend of a friend rather than a reputable prescriber you have no idea if it is actually Ozempic in there or water, saline, insulin or god knows what. My advice would be to seek medical attention and take the pen with you.

PinkArt · 02/05/2025 12:43

Call 111 now. You have no idea that it's '100% ozempic'. It might be in which case the 'only' issue is that you've taken double the dose you should have for week one but it also might be insulin or fuck knows what else. You also have no idea how it's been stored, if the needles have come from a sterile source etc.
I get it, the legit prescribers are expensive, but have a harsh word with yourself - what the fuck were you thinking.

UnderHisEyeOverMyDeadBody · 02/05/2025 11:57

100% ozempic. She gave me 0.5mg.

I know I’ve been an absolute idiot!!! Really out of character for me but I was desperate.

I’m currently feeling ok, but dreading the nausea returning and the random vomiting.

Why did you get from a "friend of a friend"?

I'm sorry, but there is plenty of evidence not to do this, God knows what you've injected. Even if its real (which i doubt) you have got the wrong dose and you have no idea if its been kept safe

Eightdayz · 02/05/2025 13:10

I hope there's a study soon on how many reckless idiots are doing this in the name of shedding a few pounds for vanity.

Absolutely madness.

No sympathy for you op. NONE

UnderHisEyeOverMyDeadBody · 02/05/2025 13:16

I have definitely used the wrong phrasing in my posts.

By friend of a friend, I meant I found out about the business through friends.

She is legit and not going to destroy her pharmaceutical/business reputation with counterfeit goods.

I panicked as I have a phobia of being sick and I catastrophise, but all is settling down now and I’m getting on with my day.

I couldn’t get it via the NHS as I don’t fit the BMI criteria but I am still overweight and need to shift it for health reasons.
I didn’t want to eat myself into oblivion in order to fit the criteria to be prescribed it on the NHS, which was always an option.

@UnderHisEyeOverMyDeadBody to emphasis that it's really vital you get some medical input from 111 at least, the levels of medication in your system will be continuing to rise for a while yet, before they start to fall. And because you've taken a 0.5mg dose, it will be higher for longer.

So, you run the risk of dehydration, which can cause kidney damage, as well as hypoglycemia which could cause various other issues. Please speak to 111 if you haven't yet.

WeAllHaveWings · 02/05/2025 13:16

No point in kicking you when you are already down OP, it is just going to discourage you from posting when you know you have been silly and need help from what should be a support forum.

How are you doing? Hope you are not posting because you are getting medical help?

SilenceInside · 02/05/2025 13:19

Your friend of a friend running this business is most certainly not "legit". They should not have supplied a prescription only medication to you when you have not had a medical consultation and you don't meet the criteria. If this person is a genuine prescriber (pharmacist, nurse prescriber) then they should be struck off. They also supplied you with Ozempic, not Wegovy, which begs the question as to why they have the diabetes branded version and not the weight loss branded version.

The prescription criteria are the same for a genuine private prescription as for the NHS, btw. The NHS don't prescribe due to business and operational decisions.

Loloj · 02/05/2025 13:22

OP some people are being really unkind here. People make mistakes and you’ve done it now so I don’t get why people feel the need to put the boot in. I very much doubt you will do it again.

If you’re 100% certain it is Ozempic then it sounds like you have double dosed. I’m not sure why your friend of a friend would have given that to you if she has a reputable pharmaceutical business - can you go back to her and query this? She should know what she is doing if her business is reputable.

If you’re in any doubt about what you have had then you should go to a&e or at least phone 111.

Are you able to keep fluids down?

All of this. Plus why did she give you a 0.5mg pen when the starting dose is 0.25mg. The friend of a friend is a charlatan.

FortyElephants · 02/05/2025 13:25

What on earth are you actually taking and how?!

Your friend is not running a legit business if she's selling ozempic to people who don't qualify for a prescription. Is it actually ozempic rather than wegovy? This isn't even prescribed for weight loss now. Are you obese? Are you aware that most people get a private prescription not an NHS one?

It won't last long - you've taken a large dose for the first shot but it will wear off after a couple of days.

Ihopeyouhavent · 02/05/2025 13:31

Lets all calm down.

Can you share a picture of what you've taken? Was it a pen? Or a vial?

SilenceInside · 02/05/2025 13:31

@mrsmiggins78 it really isn't going to wear off in a few days. The levels in her system are still going to be higher than the starting dose of 0.25mg in a week's time. Because she's gone straight in at 0.5mg. She only did the injection yesterday, so the amount in her system will likely still be rising at the moment.

Justfreedom · 02/05/2025 13:37

Op i know this is not the time to say it but i will anyway.
If you want to lose weight do it the old way.
We dont need drugs to help we just need a mind set.
Yes it will take time but you will get there and without health scares.
And that dreaded ozempic face that makes people look like walking corps`s.

Nobody can get it on the NHS currently unless they have type 2 diabetes.

Everybody who is using weight loss injections has to pay privately for the relevant prescription. What you have is not the right drug or the correct dosage.

I don’t know how to make this any clearer. I don’t think you’re catastrophising enough.

The person who supplied you with this drug is not legit. You do not meet the prescribing criteria for either NHS or private. She has given you double the usual starting dose.

So she's running a pharmaceutical company correctly, but was happy to prescribe you Ozempic and not Wegovy, at the wrong dose and when you don't meet the prescribing criteria? Yes she definitely sounds completely above board.
You'll have your own reasons for trying to minimise from your original post, so I hope that's giving you the reassurance you need. But please listen to what people are saying regarding getting some medical help.

ForeverDelayedEpiphany · 02/05/2025 12:07

Please be careful with any medication, OP.

Ever since I was permanently harmed by a prescribed off label antipsychotic anf it gave me a neurological involuntary movement disorder, I've been (probably) overcautious about anything that goes into my body. If anything, I'm almost averse to taking any more prescribed medication.

Get some proper medical professionals to help, as PP say.

Sorry to derail - but was this quetiapine?

You can get weight loss medication through the NHS, if you are referred by a weight management program.

TeenLifeMum · 02/05/2025 14:08

You can only purchase it privately if you meet the criteria and you say you don’t so your “friend or a friend” is not selling it legitimately. Privately also comes with access to doctors for support. You start on a low dose to manage side effects rather than jumping in at 0.5. I’m a massive advocate for the safe use of wli but I think you need to call 111 for advice.

SilenceInside · 02/05/2025 14:15

@RatalieTatalie It's very rare for that to actually happen though. For many NHS areas it is only bariatric surgery that is offered at tier 3 of the specialist weight loss management programmes. And there may be very long waiting lists to get onto the weight loss management tiers in the first place. Practically, for nearly everyone, it isn't available.
