I didn’t expect to need a new thread in under 2 weeks but here we go!

Thanks for all the support everyone. I skimmed the old thread last night and we have over 80 posters (not a typo) starting in the last 2 weeks! I will work out if I can tag regular posters later but the old thread is close to full so wanted to get this up and running for Friday updates.

@Beachbabeswell done! Now you can enjoy your holiday knowing you are on the right path.

@Undecided2025you can use the 5mg pen for 2.5 or 3.75mg doses (30/45 clicks or withdraw 0.3ml/0.45ml with a syringe once the pen locks). However the pen has a stated lifespan of 30 days from opening so any more than 5 doses would be beyond that. Day 1,8,15,22,29. Some people do ‘micro dose’ and use high strength pens for much longer than 30 days, but that’s not recommended and you need to do your own research and think very carefully - no one can advise going against manufacturer/prescribers instructions. Personally I am comfortable to use some of the ‘cheats’ if done (imo) sensibly but I think the longer the pen is open the higher the theoretical risk of infection on injection. And possible reduced efficacy. I am not a medical professional so definitely check all the info before deciding what is right for you.

Great stuff @Beachbabes on the loss and also the NSVs! 👏🏻👏🏻

Has anyone ordered with Med Express I'm the last week? Wondering how early I need to order my next pen. Would also like to try and time delivery with a day I'm WFH, I'd prefer it if my neighbours didn't have to take the box in, even though I know it's plain packaging. If I'm honest, I do have a sense of shame about ordering MJ 😕

I use medexpress. I ordered mine really early as they emailed me saying there were big delays and to order early.. but then it was issued and it came the day after I ordered! It’s annoying because I can WFH some of the time, but quite often working out and about , so it’s hard to know when they will prescribe and deliver it. I’ve had mine in the fridge for a week and still got one more dose in current pen.

Some people were saying they wrapped pen in tin foil and hid in tomato puree box.
i wrapped my box in brown paper and hid in the little pouch I keep my gel eye mask and cool pack i use to settle my eye bags down on a morning. No one else in the house uses that so felt like a good hiding spot.

My wife knows I’m on MJ but not our 2 teens. No one else knows other than 2 very close friends (who I knew wouldn’t judge me!)

I also feel some shame about using MJ. I’m not even sure why, because it’s a legit prescription medication and there’s no reason to feel more ashamed of MJ than any other meds. But I still do 🤷🏻‍♀️

MsRicoletti · 10/05/2025 20:44

nice one @Beachbabes! I hope you will be strutting about in your sunny clothes on holiday, feeling amazing like the holiday queen you are 👑

Week 2 day 6

once last week and this week I’ve had 2 alcoholic drinks and noticed a gain the next day on the scales, which has then gone the next day. I’d this to do with dehydration/water retention? Such a small amount and it shows on the scales.

I’ve had emails reminding me to order my next pen and I’ve got a few Q if anyone can help me out.
I’m currently at 9 pounds down and happy to stay at 2.5, but can I order the 5 and it lasts double the time?
what’s the golden dose I’ve heard about?

Also, I’ve heard the pen can only allow a certain number of clicks and I’m now panicking a bit. Before my first injection I click click clicked, then thought I’d gone too far and clicked ALL the way back. Doh! So if the click thing is true I’ll not get a fourth dose never mind a 5th!

I couldn’t decide if I should go up to 5ml or stay at 2.5 ml for my second one either.

im still getting great suppression and am losing weight (albeit big loss first week and more modest losses since ), though I’m noticing the few days before my jab I am starting to get a bit more hungry now.

… in the end I decided to get the 5ml pen (as it was same price as 2.5 anyway) and when I’m due to start next pen I will decide to either do the full 5, or do less clicks for a middle ground. Or can even do half dose to stay at 2.5ml.

some people have said the pens lock after 4 doses regardless of amount, though some are saying it’s about clicks rather than doses so you can get more than 4 go’s 🤷🏻‍♀️

either way, even if I still only get 4 doses I haven’t lost anything by getting the 5ml pen.

Morning. 3rd jab due today. I’ve lost 4 kilos in 2 weeks. I know that’s really good, but I went out with my Dd for icecream yesterday, intending to just buy one for her, and failed. It was delicious though. Then we had a meal out at a Turkish barbecue. I was very disciplined , and had a small helping of grilled chicken and lamb, some couscous, hummus and tzatziki. I had to guess the calories for everything. The scales were then up from yesterday. I know it has to be possible to do those things, I’m just scared it will set me back to disordered eating. Beware of day 7.

Well done on the losses, that’s loads! I really hear you on the worry about slipping back to disordered eating.

I think it’s about balance… an ice cream every now and then is a little joyous thing in life . Ice creams every day not so much.
I hope to get to a place when I can eat a treat if I really fancy one, and really enjoy it.. but not stuff myself with whatever I want all the time like I have got used to doing.

MsRicoletti · 10/05/2025 20:57

We went out for a date night tonight , to the local tapas place we absolutely love. The food is great and the cocktails are AMAZING!

I ate much less than usual, though some fried stuff and a fair amount of cheese so I’ve got the rennies on standby.

I had one superb cocktail and I honestly feel like I’ve had 4 !!!! First time drinking alcohol on MJ and looks like I’ve become a total lightweight. Talk about a cheap date 🤣

Zebracat · 10/05/2025 20:58

Thanks @MsRicoletti , it is scary isn’t it?

PoisonIvy89 · 10/05/2025 21:13

Excellent losses!! @Scousebloke @BeachBodyAim @StartingApril2025 @Zebracat @Beachbabes

@violetmondays same here I'd like to stay on 2.5 if I can. My plan right now is to wait till week 3 or 4 to decide if I need to move up. If 2.5 is definitely still doing its thing I'll stay, if I feel like it's time to move up I'll order the 5 but do 3.75. If by the time I need to order I am undecided which I will need then I'll order the 5 as that will give me the option to stay at 2.5 or move up.

@Caddycat wait and see, you don't need to decide till jab day and by then you'll know if it's having any effect. How are you feeling so far? I am always very sensitive to new medications so I get moving up slowly. I ended up just jumping head first and doing the 2.5 and so far I've been lucky *touches all the wood

@Sallycinnamum let us know if you see any difference, I've done stomach left and right and will try thigh next.

@PeachSnail that's good to know thanks for sharing. I'm trying to decide whether to switch providers and go through all the photos etc again. I got really good customer service from weprescribe but shopping around for the best price would be sensible

@Undecided2025 No, you cannot order the 5mg to get double the amount of doses as there is a 30day expiry from the first dose. If you do get the fifth dose out on day 29 you are still within the 30days but whatever is left in the pen after that has to be discarded.

I had some intense food noise last night but managed to resist. I was in the kitchen making my overnight oats and the food noise started screaming at me to eat everything in the damn kitchen. I wasn't expecting it as I had done my second dose in the morning and according to the shotsy app I had reached high levels. Dinner had been lower in protein because I needed to go food shopping so that might have contributed. All good today though and I am glad I managed to avoid undoing the whole week with a huge binge.

Hope you are all having a great weekend!

50lbstolose · 10/05/2025 21:30

Hi Everyone,

Thank you all for your great support.

I have started another thread, but I thought I would ask on this thread too. I got my first pen from Zava because of the new customer discount, thinking that I would just keep ordering from new suppliers each month to take advantage of new costumer discount. It didn't occurs to me about what would happen when my bmi went below 30.

ellieinfrance · 10/05/2025 22:02

I'm in week 3 at the moment and just a few thoughts on moving up pen doses. I've been totally convinced since the start that I wouldn't need to move up to 5 and would stay at 2.5. I'm finding this week harder. Not sure whether I'm being less organised or if I'm feeling less suppression than previous weeks. So all going to see how the rest of this week goes but am much more open to the idea of moving up than I was. Apart from a dry mouth I've had no side effects. And I think this is a deliberate one from the manufacturers in order to make you drink more!

PoisonIvy89 · 10/05/2025 23:57

@ellieinfrance haha!! sneaky bastards, you're probably right. I've had the dry mouth for the last few days and initially thought I was somehow dehydrated even though I always hit at least 2l per day

@50lbstolose I think when you get near 30 you have to choose a prescriber to stick with for maintenence. But I'm very far from that point so don't know for certain

50lbstolose · 11/05/2025 00:13

Thanks @PoisonIvy89

Morning gang!

Well done to everyone for all the losses and nsv. It's really working isn't it?!

I had a good workout at the gym and lovely swim in the sunshine yesterday so feeling good. I'm on W3D2 and still getting really good suppression the same as my first 2 weeks. I'm.umming and ahing about whether to stick on 2.5 or go up to 5ml for my next pen.

GoGoGovy · 11/05/2025 07:35

Morning.

I had an interesting night. Went to dinner at a friends house. There was a big group of us. Normally, I would eat and drink like the best of them, but I simply wasn’t hungry. The plan was to eat everything, but smaller portions, but that wasn’t possible as everything was plated up. I felt like I had to force myself to eat - quite bizarre. Managed to keep the alcohol consumption down by sipping very slowly.
It was a lovely evening, but I think I’m going to have stay away from this type of social event whilst on the jabs.

Feel so gross this morning. Really full and uncomfortable. No hangover though 😀

@GoGoGovyits strange having to navigate these social situations with a different approach to consumption... It makes you realise how much over-consumption is embedded into our social lives! Sounds like you handled it well - though it might have been a bit of a struggle. Hope the uncomfortable fullness passes soon 🤞

@Sunshineandpool swim in the sunshine sounds lovely ☺️

Absolutely! It was quite interesting watching everyone over the evening. The more drinks served, the more people over eat. In the end they were eating and drinking for the sake of it. That would be me, normally.

Sheldon4k · 11/05/2025 08:39

@GoGoGovyi had this situation recently but I just explained that I had recently started a healthy eating plan and as such won't be eating the amount usual. Maybe at the next invite, say you would love to join, however would be grateful for a small plate of food as you do not want to disappoint by not eating all as you have been on a healthy eating plan and can no longer consume that amount. That way you don't have to miss out.

Thanks for sharing, this is really interesting. The lady who hid in her garage as she couldn’t even tell her husband is sad.

I had first time of having to lie by omission yesterday as saw parents who noticed loss and asked (and tried to feed me cake!)

Thanks for this, I am a secret jabber, I do feel I am deceiving my family, but I know they won't understand the process - and the expense, but I know this is the only way for me, I have yo-yoed for years with the same 3 stone - I am now at my heaviest. I am also a very slow looser -which is disheartenting - so I have decided to weigh only when I start a new pen. I am on week 3 day day 5, but started to eat lean and clean 2 weeks before, to prepare my body, and it seemed to have worked as I have had no side effects.
My new pen has come for week 5, but I stuck to 2.5 as I have good suppression. But I intent to move up to 5 on week 9 as I need to loose the weight for my cruise holiday at the end of July - I still have so many beautiful dresses which I look overweight in.
My main worry is being such a slow looser -even though I am in deficit I will loose the motivation - which is why this thread is SO important for our motivation - thank you to everyone who contributes.

GoGoGovy · 11/05/2025 08:42

@Sheldon4k good advice.

Crunchymum · 11/05/2025 08:53

I'm a little confused with all this talk of counting clicks and pens locking and having to discard after 30 days.

I plan to move up to 5mg and if I were to have any horrid side effects I'd consider counting the 3.75mg. But I really don't want to have to mess around with all that.

What if you have to miss a dose for any reason? Will that take you over the 30 days and you have to discard a whole weeks worth?

I'm with Simple online pharmacy and they send 6 needles with the pen. So I do have spare needles if I need them.

I'm a semi-secret jabber.
My DH knows because I thought it was best for safety, plus he's supportive of my efforts to lose weight. My two SILs know as one of them is also on MJ and she encouraged me to try it and a close work friend who is on Wegovy, but none of our other colleagues know.
I've decided not to mention it to anyone else because I do feel there is a stigma and people are judgy, possibly because the media mainly prints horror stories. People have noticed my lunches have changed for example, and I tell them I'm calorie counting which is absolutely the truth. We need to do all the things anyone else does to lose weight, eat less, move more but the MJ just makes it easier to stick to. I don't think people realize that, I didn't really know that was the case until I started researching, I'd assume it was some magic fat melting elixir 🤣
