Happy Tuesday everyone! I am curious to know:

Who is at or near maintenance?

Who is still with us in out lovely Auggie group?

Of the people on maintenance are you going to keep checking in sometimes to keep ourselves on the right road. The thought of maintenance is a bit scary 😨 and I could do with this group continuing!

Have a good week xx

Morning! I was on the original August thread, and I've been maintaining on 7.5mg (down from my highest of 10mg) for the last 3 months. My weight has been very stable at between 9st 8lb - 9st 10lb (I'm 5ft 6") This is a photo of me taken yesterday.

Thank you. You absolutely can do it! If someone had told me, this time last year, that I would be 9/8 I would have laughed my head off.

poppym12 · 27/05/2025 12:16

BMI currently 26.6 @Blondeshavemorefun.

That's wonderful news! Do you think you will stay on 7.5 for a while?

Hi, not sure if anyone remembers me from the old threads! I have been struggling with something and wonder if anyone feels similar.

I reached a healthy BMI last year, then lost a bit more as a buffer. My BMI is around 20.5 now.

However my body constantly fluctuates. Never really stays a consistent silhouette. Sometimes my stomach is flat, other days it bulges out as if I’ve put weight back on (I haven’t - weight generally stays within the same kg).

My diet is ok and I exercise regularly (both cardio & resistance). I was this weight my entire life until 2022-3 so to a certain extent I was able to maintain it before.

I don’t really know how to address this? Just feels like my body is out of whack. I wonder if it’s cycle related even.

Hi there, your fluctuating sounds as if it’s bloating so I’d examine what I’m eating and try to pin point what’s causing it. But I’ve also found this week just how much not having a good bowel movement a few times a day (for me) can alter a persons shape so I’d be keeping an eye on that also. But, and I hate to say this because I do g want to alarm anyone especially if they just need a good boomboom - any bloating should be investigated by a Dr in order to rule out serious causes. I speak from experience 😉

Azuresky68 · 27/05/2025 12:44

That's wonderful news! Do you think you will stay on 7.5 for a while?

Yes, definitely. We have another holiday at the end of June, then we're away again in September, so just want to keep my weight in check.

Also I can't take HRT anymore, so want the protection Mounjaro provides against heart disease, strokes and dementia etc.

BettyandtheVets · 27/05/2025 14:12

I’m still here - still an extremely slow loser and still with 4st to go. That being said, I do get lots of compliments about how I look. Everyone is shocked when I say I still need to loose 1/2 stone before I even get out of obese. They’re obviously so conditioned to seeing me obese / overweight.

just come back from 2 weeks holiday where I put on a couple of lbs but I’ve lost that already and back down to my currently stuck weight of 170 lb.

my next pen is a 12.5, but considering using my bonus dose to increase the remaining jabs from my 10 pen to 12.5 but my brain can’t compute how much to take via syringe. I could count clicks, but I’d forget half way through what number I’m at 🙈

I’ve taken some photos of my on holiday to post with a before picture - when I pluck up the courage 🫣

morbidcuriosity · 27/05/2025 14:40

My comment last night, it was trapped wind. Had this a couple times now.. its not great and I can't pin point what causes it, but lots of burping and the other end and it's been released. Haha..

I'm very nearly at the maintenence, I honestly think back to when I joined this thread and can't believe how far I've come. Everytime I get into a new stone bracket it's such an amazing feeling..
And now I'm so close to seeing 11.13 which I never thought would happen.. I want to stay in the 11 stone something area as being 5 foot 10 any less will not suit me and I won't be able to maintain lower I don't think..
I shall be here and reading all your posts for a long while yet, even if I only join in occasionally I still read everyone success...

Love our thread, it's helped me so much..

20bloodypounds · 27/05/2025 14:58

I'm still here! Thanks for checking @Azuresky68 I had a 10 day holiday in the land of pasta and pizza, but thanks to MJ I managed to eat very small portions and only put on one pound! I even felt confident enough to wear shorts - at 64, who would have thought it!

I've now lost that holiday pound and another half pound and today my BMI is dead on 25. I've booked my maintenance call but Shock the first appointment is on 1st July, and Sad Shock Sad it is with a different consultant, not Hira. I'm with you @Blondeshavemorefun in having a bit of a girl crush. I'm one of the MJ weaklings and I've never increased beyond 5mg. My plan is to follow the 'taper' scheme, reducing to 2.5mg, then spreading out the time between doses until I feel confident that I can maintain on my own. Although I am interested in the increasing evidence about other health benefits of MJ, so I may be on a micro dose for a long time.

@poppym12 Being on such a low dose of MJ I have never lost huge amounts (except for the very first week when I couldn't eat anything!) and since the start of this year I've been losing an average of half a pound per week. But it is still progress, and even at that snail's pace that's 11 pounds less than I was at Christmas. There is no other weight loss programme where I've been able to keep going like this. It's not exciting but it is do-able, and that's important. I know it is horribly expensive but when I think of the £££ I've spent on crap 'miracle' cures - MCT, keto tablets, metabolism boosters... not to mention the ££££ on gym membership or exercise classes that I've never used Blush

@eeeeeeeee your fluctuating shape does sound like gut / bloating / water retention. Doing all the right things for your gut microbiome might help (huge variety of plant-based foods; nuts, seeds, herbs; fermented foods - kimchi, kefir etc. However, gut / bloating / water retention happens to us all (even less hormonal men), all the time - it's how our bodies regulate water, sodium, fibre etc. Sometimes we just need to accept it. But also be aware of what might cause it. I have a mild lactose intolerance. ok with butter and hard cheese but too much milk or cream affects my digestion, and my size.

WitchDancer · 27/05/2025 15:44

I’m still here too! I’ve still got 1.5 stone to loose but am having to come off for financial reasons. I’m hoping that I can still carry on loosing weight though through a major change in my lifestyle 🤞

Azuresky68 · 27/05/2025 16:26

@BettyandtheVetsand @WitchDancer glad you are both still here and thanks for dropping by! Let's keep this thread going!

Glittermoonlight · 27/05/2025 17:50

I’m still here too!!
Just been really really busy recently, NOK to elderly Aunt in & out of hospital, now settled in a care home for respite.
I’m now 72lbs lost. Am currently 8st 9lbs, bmi 21.4, was 34.2 in August. My final goal was 9 stone so I’m now under it. Have been going down the doses. This Friday move down to 5mg. Am doing a very slow moving down the doses. So will stay 6 weeks on 5mg, then go to 3.75mg after.
Absolutely love reading how well all us August starters are doing🎉- before we know it we’ll be celebrating our one year anniversary!!

Redlightbulb · 27/05/2025 18:48

Yup I am am still here.
I don't get involved in the daily chit chat but pop in every now and again and love reading the updates on peeps progress.

MabelSpan · 27/05/2025 19:36

I am here too, but so busy with the garden now that I dont have the time to keep up with you all, you are all still so very chatty, and its lovely to see!

Keep being fabulous August losers!😊

Azuresky68 · 27/05/2025 20:04

Hi to @Glittermoonlight and @MabelSpan! @Redlightbulb already got you! So we still have a lovely group of August starters 😀

Azuresky68 · 27/05/2025 20:13

@Blondeshavemorefun. Was chatting to a friend who started at the same time as us. She has a science background and often gives me good tips. She said that suppression is a side effect and that's why we don't all get it. Recently I do feel hungry. She reckons the trick is to eat much less at mealtimes because the way MJ works for us that due to food being in our stomaches longer we get fuller more quickly. I am trying to eat smaller portions at the moment with lots of vegetables and protein. Will see if it works on Friday WWJ day! Also trying to drink more water. I know this is basic stuff but I don't always do it. Back to my 1000 calories a day and no alcohol.....can't wait to get to maintenance!

Glittermoonlight · 27/05/2025 20:46

Hi @Azuresky68 that’s exactly what I’ve concentrated on from the start, small portions, I don’t skip meals, just very aware of how much I’m eating, I also drink lots of water. It’s definitely becoming habit now, because even though my appetite has increased I’m still very strict with myself on dishing out smaller amounts. I just don’t need, I’ve never needed, & never will, large quantities. So still eating most of the same stuff, just a lot, lot less of it.
How much do you still have to lose before you reach your goal?

20bloodypounds · 27/05/2025 20:51

@Glittermoonlight I'm the same. I'm small in stature and naturally 'slight'. I have a small appetite. But I've lost count of how many times people have encouraged me to eat more. And how for many years I'd gone along with that. Last summer, I just looked like a bowling ball. Small and round and dense.

Now I have much more confidence to say 'no thanks, I've had enough'

And to say that to other people AND to myself!
