I will be starting Mounjaro at the end of this week. The current April thread are mostly discussing the move onto their second 4 weeks so thought I would start a thread for those of us right at the beginning.

Hi all -

I am T2 diabetic and having struggled with other medication side effects my nurse is keen for me to try this for my sugar levels.

At first I was dubious but having found this thread I feel much more positive. I could do with losing about 4 stone and if this works for weight loss AND sugar levels it will be fantastic. I have an appt with the nurse next Friday and would love to start taking it asap after that but wondered if pharmacies stock it or whether it’s likely I will have to wait for it to be ordered? Now I have made up my mind I would start tomorrow but have to wait for some blood test results first.

I’m eagerly enjoying all of your updates in the meantime! 😁

i too jabbed on Wednesday night and think effects have worn off completely today - ate normal sized portions at each meal and had some Easter chocolate and some wine this evening 😩
so annoyed with myself

I have noticed over the past few days that I have eaten more slowly, yet this evening meal I finished first like previously ( I did admittedly dish myself a smaller portion than normal), however now I am thinking about other food so maybe I should have had a normal size portion.

I havent so much had the 'I am full feeling' when eating, more so just no desire to continue eating.

Also, weirdly, I am not now feeling much by way of hunger in my stomach, more my throat feels like i need food (its not thirst I have been drinking a lot).. and the thoughts of specific foods are creeping back for sure!

I guess we are still learning what to expect and how to manage it, dont be too annoyed with yourself. Tomorrow is a new day!

Is anyone using the Shotsy app?
is it worth paying for, what extra features do you get?

HormonalHairyPoppins · 28/04/2025 06:38

W1d2. Insomnia had me awake half of the night and I have a headache this morning, nothing too bad but for the first time in ages I don't want breakfast. The food noise has definitely lessened.

I'm using it but I havnt paid for premium. I did read somewhere that you don't really get much more on the premium version.

BonnieClydeSW15 · 28/04/2025 07:08

Ok has anyone had a side effect where you feel really cold and can’t get warm? It happened when I went to bed last night and was really weird! Seem to be ok now! 🤣

PeachSnail · 28/04/2025 07:09

Ok... My first ever weight loss check in!

W1 D7
SW 87.65 kg
CW 85.9 kg
GW 65 kg

So that's a 1.75 kg loss after 7 days... Not bad if you compare that to how I've been struggling to lose the odd 0.5 kg here and there (before putting it on again 🫣) most weeks!

I've inputted that into the Shotsy app and am pleased to have a nicely downward pointing graph for my first entry 📉🤓

Yes - a few of us have had this. Really weird... But seems to go away after a day or two (or at least it did for me)

Nope - not using the Premium on Shotsy

Chunkysewist · 28/04/2025 07:27

Well done @PeachSnail thats brilliant! Onto week 2 for you!

@BonnieClydeSW15 yes definitely. Mostly at night my feet feel like ice, last night was day 5 and it had lessoned quite a bit though.

Pepperwaggytail · 28/04/2025 07:51

So I’ve just completed week 5 and only lost 0.6 of a pound this week, BUT having been on my body measurement scales I’ve put on muscle, and lost visceral fat and subcutaneous fat and also increased my water weight (which I’m putting down to doing 2 5k runs this week and having a bit of DOMS)
Today is jab day and I’m going to try the golden dose again, and not sure how much to inject! I’ve definitely had more of an appetite this week, and having smaller portions but managing to eat everything, so I feel that I can fit more food in for a meal…
I think I’m going to see what’s in the golden dose of my 2.5 pen, hopefully a bit more than 0.6ml, and just inject that - maybe get 3 or 3.5 then see how next week goes…. any advice?
Oh and for the people feeling the cold, up until this week yes, and im still putting the electric blanket on in bed for a couple of hours at night!

wlinewbie0425 · 28/04/2025 08:44

Happy Monday! I feel like a different person compared to a week ago, it’s crazy. Mentally alert, physically less achy and bloated as usual after a weekend of takeaway and wine and ready to hit the ground running for a busy work week without hitting the biscuit tin when it gets stressful. Edited to add - my period also came a few days early with no warning and zero cramps. Unsure if that’s related.

I only have the free version of Shotsy to keep track of doses. I have an app that is linked to my bathroom scales for rest of my tracking.

I have also been colder than usual. In the winter I am prone to mild reynaulds syndrome, my fingers and toes go white and lose sensation when I sit still too long at my desk. That’s been happening quite a bit since injection. And I’ve been back using my heated blanket when watching telly.

well done those who’ve had weigh ins and good luck for the week ahead.

First weigh in this morning ready for my second jab tonight!
SW 221.4
CW 213.8
GW 150 ish I think?
So a loss over 7lbs, which I am really chuffed with although prepared for it to slow right down now since most of that was probably water and I have a lot to lose. Suppression has definitely all but disappeared now and I am hungry this morning so looking forward to jabbing later.
Well done on all the losses everyone, I am loving following along with all of the updates, happy Monday!

Hi there. First timer here. I have almost 3 stone to lose.

I'm so nervous about the first jab.

I think most of us here were really nervous for the first jab, so many "what ifs" but odds are you will be absolutely fine. I'm glad I went for it! You don't feel the injection, the needle is tiny 😊

Chunkysewist · 28/04/2025 09:26

@AdotHam well done on the loss! That's amazing!

StartingApril2025 · 28/04/2025 09:37

So great to hear everyone’s progress ! @Brunocatmon if you scroll back you see at end of last week I was also feeling super nervous, worried etc. went to my appointment shaking debating my life choices but went ahead- needle was so fine you really can’t feel it very much and definitely not sore. Iv feel absolutely fine since - this is only day 3 but no toilet trouble yet( that was my biggest worry) I had a flushed face. Few time after the jab and on / off cold but all fine! Definitely feel like I have some suppression though and the food noise is dial down a bit, could be all in my head though for now or could be the medicine! All the very best and take comfort from the many many positive stories here, I for once have a sense of calmness about this journey as I know it will work and feel positive hearing all the success stories!

Sunshineandpool · 28/04/2025 09:50

I've just eaten Greek yogurt with berries and nuts for breakfast and now feeling decidedly queasy. I thought the yogurt would be good for protein but maybe it's not agreeing with the mounjaro. I seem to recall people having trouble with dairy?

What specifically are you nervous about? 😊

Catherhino · 28/04/2025 09:53

I’m on day 5 now, just thought I’d give a little update. I jabbed on Thursday am - it was super easy and I couldn’t feel the needle at all! No side affects so far, yey! I’ve not had any real suppression though; I’ve been moderately hungry at my usual meal times (not starving!) and tried to eat healthily, but that’s not always possible due to life happening 😂 - perfectly normal. I’ve not felt inclined to snack which is good, but sometimes I’ve allowed myself a treat because I was bought loads of Easter chocolate. The good news is I stopped after a small amount and didn’t scoff loads, so I’m happy with that, we all want to enjoy a treat now and then but without going OTT! I’ve been tracking my calories out of interest rather than sticking rigidly to a limit. Thursday and Friday I had between 1700 and 1800, and weekend days around 2000. On that, I’d normally lose weight reeeeaaally slowly, like 0.5 - 1lb per week, which is good but frustrating and I usually give up after a month or so of that, so not enough to make any real difference to my weight. I had a cheeky weigh in this morning and so far I’ve lost 2.8lb which I’m shocked about, as I don’t feel any different to how I feel on a normal calorie counting diet! Will see my weekly weigh in on Thursday am.

Took my second dose this morning, so I'm W2D1. I lost 4lb last week. I know I should be really pleased, but a little part of me is disappointed the first week wasn't more (what with all the water loss mid week). However, I have problems with my knee, foot and back that prevent me doing much exercise, so realistically this was a good result.

Can we talk about scales? I've been using an old set of weight watchers digital scales. They had put my starting weight at 228lb, today's weight at 224lb. However, I've treated myself to a new set of digital scales that measure body fat and all sorts via an app, but they're measuring 3lb more. Has anyone else bought new scales and they've given a different reading? A bit gutted that these ones weigh more 🙁. I'm going to stick with the new ones, but will revise my starting weight to 232lb, as the old scales defo show 4lb off.

I also received my collagen supplement today (Nutrition Geeks), so have started using that.

MsRicoletti · 28/04/2025 10:11

I woke up a bit hungry today which is the first time! I’m off work today so still pottering with coffee .. so definitely not ravenous as I haven’t eaten yet 🤣

I due to take my second dose tomorrow but im a bit tempted to take it later tonight (so about 18 hours early) so that I push my starting day to Mondays , to hopefully maintain suppression at weekends going forward, as weekends are a crisp and wine danger zone for me.

Anyone else done this/considering this? Is this ok? I think I saw someone doing this further up the thread but can’t find it now 🤣

I’ve been eating yoghurt ok, but to be honest eating anything in first 3-4 days made me feel a bit iffy.

weirdly, I , have found eating strawberries made me feel a bit queasy… something to do with how sweet and sharp they are, I have felt like I’m eating a fizzy sweet and it’s made me feel a bit sick as soon as I chew them . I wondered if it was the sugar in them making my mouth go ‘WHAT?!’ After so little food?

lastditchattempt50 · 28/04/2025 10:24

Morning all, this thread is moving fast!⚡
Just taken my first jab, fingers crossed for great food suppression but no horrible side effects 😁🤞

My stomach feels a bit weird but I've literally just jabbed so I know that's psychosomatic....

I was planning greek yogurt and berries etc as a good lunch, but reading up thread that dairy is sometimes not great?
Any advice 😁
