I will be starting Mounjaro at the end of this week. The current April thread are mostly discussing the move onto their second 4 weeks so thought I would start a thread for those of us right at the beginning.

I started one week ago, second dose today.
No ill effect but my god the food noise I've had all my adult life has gone silent. I had never put a name to it until embarking on this journey. Bloody amazing for my mental health nevermind physical. And unexpected plus is that this week I am about breaking even on the costs of MJ - no interest in usual weekly takeaway, or snacks.

Start weight 11lb7 (bmi28)
Goal - 9st
First week loss - 7lb

Gigi936 · 26/04/2025 08:10

It's amazing the positivity and support on here ☺️
Thanks for starting it @wlinewbie0425 I have decided not to broadcast my use (expect to OH) purely based on my experience that those who make their own good levels of GLP-1/GIP hormones do got get what it's like to have food noise during waking hours, all the time.

This includes my slim, only thinks about food immediately before a meal, husband.

Happy Saturday! First weekend for me…

well done on the great losses 👏@Scousebloke@Gigi936@AdotHam

Well done on taking the plunge @Sallycinnamum

@50lbstoloseI found myself surprisingly nervous when it came to taking the first dose too, but it really is simple. Make sure you’ve got a quiet space today where no one will interrupt you and take your time, watch some videos of other people doing it until you feel confident. It will be a total anticlimax you barely feel a thing. Just pinch a bit of fat tight. I did stomach like most people, seems easier as it’s right in front of you, not twisting round for arm or outside thigh.

My headache has been a lot worse since late evening, and was aware of it during the night each time I woke for a pee ( due to the insatiable thirst making me drink several litres yesterday!) Trying those soluble soluble electrolyte tablets today, is one a day enough does anyone know?

catchingzzzeds · 26/04/2025 08:26

@SallycinnamumI hope you feel ok today and your anxiety settles down. Do you have a relative or friend that you could confide in to get some support? I don’t think I would be able to do this without my two friends who are also on the jabs.

wlinewbie0425 · 26/04/2025 08:26

@Gigi936I’m so glad I did, I’ve been on mumsnet around 15 years, but have very rarely started one on anything! It really helps to have the chat here as we find our way, as I have also only told DH and my one friend who shared she had been using mounjaro (which gave me the final push to go for it!) I don’t want to bore them constantly with symptom updates but reading everyone’s experiences here really helps.

@50lbstolose Is it the injecting that worries you, side effects or something else? It took me ages to
pluck up the courage as I was worried about side effects but in the end figured I was already miserable about my weight and felt it was worth a go

SkibidiSigma · 26/04/2025 08:42

I had raging insomnia last night and the sleep I did get was very light with vivid dreams, which is not normal for me unless I'm premenstrual. I woke first for a wee and struggled to get back to sleep. I was also feeling nauseous and hungry in the night but fine this morning.

I drink quite a lot usually anyway and don't think I drunk more than usual yesterday so not sure why I woke up. For hydration I have a vidrate sachet every day as well as plain water and I think the vidrate really helps. Some of the other medication I'm on makes me thirsty and very dry mouthed so I'm used to it

wlinewbie0425 · 26/04/2025 08:58

@SkibidiSigmaI have also been having super vivid dreams this week. But some of them were before my first injection so unsure if connected!

So far,so good but also had a bad night's sleep so ended up in the spare room as didn't want to disturb DH.

Not sure how I feel this morning. Often don't eat breakfast but it's weird that I'm not even thinking about whether I fancy a slice of toast or not.

I've ordered some Purition protein powder as the drinks are really nice and they will suffice if I don't fancy solid food.

Coventree · 26/04/2025 09:04

Morning all, happy Saturday.

Day 2 and no real change in side effects or how I’m feeling about food. Just tired (woke up at 8.40 instead of my usual 6.30) and maybe a bit more thirsty. Blood pressure is slightly higher, and I haven’t turned skinny overnight…damn! Just popped a fibre tablet, about to have overnight oats which has collagen and protein powder in it…feeling good so far.

Hope everyone has a healthy Saturday!

BonnieClydeSW15 · 26/04/2025 09:10

Morning all! Day 3 (I sound like the BB narrator in my head!!! Which I don’t watch btw 🙈 but recall from many years ago!!) Anyway D2 same as D1 - no appetite at all which for someone who has thought about food every waking moment since forever is both alarming and amazing! Low grade headaches continue so trying to drink water and did manage to eat last night but just didn’t feel the need to eat everything on everyone else’s plate as well as my own! I just want to send my support out to everyone because taking this step has been such a hard decision & we will all experience it differently so knowing you are there is very comforting for me! Have a lovely weekend! 😁

frogswimming · 26/04/2025 09:28

Morning all! Don’t worry about the injection I don’t think anyone can really feel it. I’ve no side effects that I’ve noticed. I had a protein yoghurt, a mcchicken sandwich and a ryvita with ham and cheese. Not healthy but not that many calories either. I could have eaten less but I thought I should try and eat 3 meals. Today I had a fuel golden syrup porridge and I feel full. It’s amazing that it just stops thinking about food at all! Someone said that others don’t understand because their hormones around hunger and blood sugar work right. This is what normal should feel like I suppose!

wlinewbie0425 · 26/04/2025 09:36

All I’ve had so far today is electrolyte in water and a black coffee. Zero hunger, it’s so odd, but so impressed to feel like this in the first week. We have family visiting today so I want to appear to eat a small portion of normal lunch so I am going to skip breakfast entirely. We all normally have a glass of wine when they visit and I just don’t fancy it at all. If you knew me… this is unheard of 😂 I might water one down and sip. Thankfully getting too old now for anyone to assume I’m pregnant!

Day 2 here and feeling no different at all, no change in appetite, scales exactly the same. Apparently 48hrs after injection is when maximum effects are felt, so I'm hopeful for some..any..change today!🙏

I only took mine last night but also feel no different. This is reassuring, hopefully we both get the full effects soon x

Chunkysewist · 26/04/2025 10:07

Great to hear everyone's updates ❤️ walk all done 3.5 miles, aching now! Not feeling any slimmer yet 😂 hopefully I'll have lost something by Friday weigh in 🤞

Coventree · 26/04/2025 10:59

@wlinewbie0425 hope reduced lunch and wine goes to plan!

@Sweetspinach we’re running on the same lines (Day 2, no change)…fingers crossed we wake up tomorrow going ‘wow’. And then @Shrinkingsalican take hope from us!

Well done on the exercise @Chunkysewist- we’re gonna to flip our fat/thin cycles on their heads this time 💪

PeachSnail · 26/04/2025 11:19

Anyone else trying to do this alongside running training?

Went on my long run this morning and totally hit the wall energy-wise... It's going to be tough working out what to eat for energy without the usual appetite cues 🫤

StartingApril2025 · 26/04/2025 11:20

Got my first dose about 20 mins ago, face has flushed , will keep an eye that not an allergic reaction 😵‍💫 maybe the excitement/ stress. The doctor I saw was so lovely and kind, very supportive. Bracing myself for any side effects now, let’s hope not too bad, I’m off work Monday and Tuesday so hopefully any side effects will have settled by Wednesday! Hope everyone has a good day.

Day 3 of my first week and this is the first time I feel no appetite - not hungry for lunch but making some, and am making pinch of nom hunters chicken (my fave from their recipes) so I'll freeze 3 of my 4 servings for next week. Beginning to feel a little hopeful after the anticlimax of day 1 and 2.
Def going to go on 5 mils for week 5.

Zebracat · 26/04/2025 11:45

I just took my first dose. It doesn’t hurt and it is easy! So that was good. I’ve made lots of changes since deciding to do this on Wednesday, swum every day, kept very active, swapped tea for water, 1200 calories a day and a Mediterranean diet, so I’m hoping that the injection will just make those changes a bit easier. I’ve got a small portion of a dull homemade veg curry for lunch and salad nicoise for dinner. Gardening this afternoon. I bought some electrolyte tablets, shocking price! I have 5 stone to lose, which is daunting.

YippeeAbsentmindedly · 26/04/2025 11:52

@PeachSnail I did a gym class this morning and hit a wall after about 25 minutes, which isn't like me. It's usually my favourite of the week. I only ate 750 calories yesterday and haven't eaten yet this morning, so definitely need to eat more before gym classes, but I was trying to work up a big deficit for today's bottomless brunch.

@wlinewbie0425 let us know how you get on, it'll be good to share experiences.

@Sweetspinach I'm day 5 and have had no real side effects and none of the appetite suppression that others have reported. I still get hungry, I just CBA to do anything about it! I do feel full more quickly, though. It'll be interesting to see if anything changes when I go up to the next dose.

catchingzzzeds · 26/04/2025 12:31

24 hours in and I feel hungry but not ravenous. Usually I’d have had breakfast pastries and biscuits/crisps by this time on a Saturday but have had two slices of whole meal toast and I’m just going to make lunch. This is exactly what I wanted- the willpower to stick to 3 meals a day with no crap in between. I so want this to retrain my brain and body for life.
I took all my measurements this morning and used the app recommended on here to do a body scan. I’ll measure and scan monthly.

I hope everyone gets the effect they’re hoping for over the next few days and weeks 🤞🏼

catchingzzzeds · 26/04/2025 12:37

Meant to add, I do feel a little woozy and have indigestion

Chunkysewist · 26/04/2025 13:15

Just sent hubby to asda, I normally send him for chocolate and popcorn....this time it's for salad?! I was gutted I'd run out, who am I?? 😂
Had a chocolate protein shake and a piece of wholemeal toast with butter and honey for lunch. Sewed up a tshirt ready to wear tomorrow. Apparently we are going out for the day but I'm not being told where 🤷 I'll take my water and a protein shake just incase there's no suitable food there. Bet tomorrow is the day I get the 💩s with all the 'stool softening' methods I'm using 😂 be just my luck!
