I have just had my first dose about an hour ago - a bit like @IHeartTravel I procrastinated for 3 weeks (mainly as I've been away a lot this month) and once I prepped the pen I had to really talk myself into doing it. But it's done. Already the injection site is sore and swollen and a bit red, anyone else had this? How long does it take to go down?

So funny, I was thinking of you this morning when I was posting wondering how you go on!!!! Complete twins same frame of mind too.....
Onwards & downwards.

Ditto, I was very pleased to see your post! It’s nice to have a few of us on the same ‘day’!

onwards and downwards - love it! Have your ordered your next pen yet? I’m not sure when to get it ordered.

Week 3, I'm now around 79kg. At home I've been eating the following:

Roast chicken (I buy one and cut it up for the next 4 days), green olives, plain greek yoghurt, babybels, tea, black coffee, ginger cordial, cherry tomatoes, spinach, ginger kombucha, apples, unsweetened peanut butter, bananas, oats, cauliflower soup, pickled cauliflower, eggs, quiche. Food costs now about £25 a week! 😲

All these foods are "safe" - no indigestion or side effects. Some other things I ate earlier on really did seem to make me feel vomitous: haggis, baked beans, bread, milk, so I'm just going with it. The Juniper coach suggested I add in a green smoothie and some protein, so I've bought some collagen powder to add in to coffees/porridge. It felt... strange - I used to buy it for my husband when he was alive, to keep him hale in hospital. I've also bought some chia seeds for fibre and added to my bircher oats, and put some mixed seeds on the table to sprinkle over anything I'm eating to add variety.

Socialising, I've been eating whatever, just less, so I've also eaten a burger, curry etc. It doesn't seem to upset my tummy but I just get SO full I can't really MOVE. Literally I lay down on the floor groaning after my burger while my friend laughed at me. As if I'd feasted for days! So far still no effect on wine for me.

I do still feel really really tired, but I'm also going through a very stressful work transition at the moment so I can't disambiguate the two. I'm forcing myself on a hilly march every other day, but it's a big effort to get off the sofa. My activity has dropped since starting.

wordywitch · 24/04/2025 10:57

Is anyone else also finding that they are more motivated to move and exercise? I’ve been hitting 8-12k steps every day and want to start adding in some cardio and strength training from next week.

Me!! doing a lot more steps and counting all calories on MFP.

Crikeyalmighty · 24/04/2025 11:21

@SaddlebagSal that’s the way to do it I personally feel - change the portion sizes, change the habits, lose slowly - that way I think it’s far more sustainable long term asa way of living than trying to constantly suppress any appetite for very quick weight loss and never getting off of the drugs.

Lostfirsttimebuyer · 24/04/2025 11:30

Decided to stay on 2.5mg for my second pen, as I've been really happy on it so don't think I need to go up. Decided to switch from Juniper to Pharmulous, as although Juniper has been good - I hadn't realised just how much more expensive they are once you have got through the discounted first month. Also I want to be with a company that supports maintenance so want to switch whilst my BMI is still obese. I also don't want to go through the faff of switching every time (I found having to take the photos another time for switching just so demoralising and humiliating) and the faff of filling out the form and having to wait for approval etc - I don't want to do that every month! So I'm just going to switch to a cheaper provider and stick with them.
Anyone else hated having to get your fat rolls out for the photo? I completely understand why we have to do it, but God it's miserable having to!

I'm going to order at the weekend, that gives plenty of time I think (hope!!!). I'm planning on taking the extra does but want to have my new pen incase that doesn't work out.

Yes, I have completely upped my step count, doing a minimum of 70k a week whereas before some weeks could be half that. Trying to do couch 2 5k too, it's like an entire life overhaul thanks to the extra energy I have now.

I’m going to do the extra dose this too. It’s too expensive not to! Plus I think you can go up to 3 75 with it to bridge the gap between 2.5 and 5ml.

Yes! I’m at the gym every day and feeling great!

PinkCatInATree · 24/04/2025 12:39

Just been grocery shopping - surreal experience compared to usual ... Hard to shop when not tasting the dinners in my head! Lesson learned that I need a list going forwards as inspiration doesnt strike in store! wk2 day2

SaddlebagSal · 24/04/2025 10:18

Done my fourth jab. My appetite is definitely less but sadly for me my chocolate cravings are only slightly diminished. I’m eating normal foods with smaller portion sizing and virtually no snacking. My current downfall is an evening chocolate habit. Maybe going up to 5mg will help with that.

I use Happy Scale app to track my weight, and weigh every morning I’m at home to use my scales. It’s great because it reassures me that the usual weight fluctuations are normal and the overall trend is still downward. I’m happy with a 5lb loss in three weeks considering I’m not currently “dieting”. I want this to be sustainable in the future so I’ll be starting the “just change one thing” approach (RIP Dr Moseley 😥) to tweak my food intake when I’m ready.

I’m the same with the chocolate snacking! Fourth dose at 2.5 tomorrow and hoping the 5mg from MedExpress arrives by end of next week having switched to them. Hadn’t expected the subsequent notice of delays though 😠

Minuethippo · 24/04/2025 13:50

GieYerselPeace · 23/04/2025 21:53

Most 1ml syringes are marked in units, so 1ml =100 units.

0.6ml (60 units) = 2.5mg
0.3ml (30 units) = 1.25mg

Normal dose + 0.3ml = 3.75mg

Thank you very much

Minuethippo · 24/04/2025 13:50

SurreyGirl69 · 23/04/2025 21:49

My understanding is that 3.75mg would come from 0.9ml in total if all administered/ drawn up from a 2.5mg pen . If you have taken the standard delivered dose of 0.6ml (2.5mg) you would need to draw up a further 0.3ml (1.25mg) from the same pen to get 3.75mg.
I'm going to do this tomorrow too as my week 4 injection as 2.5mg has had no discernible effects this week.

Thank you very much

SW 12.1
W1 -6LBS
W2 - 2lbs
CW 11.7

2lbs of this week which I'm delighted with, I haven't actually changed my eating habits or exercise, I was already eating within a calorie deficit with lots of protein and had been doing strength programme for about two years with no buge on the scales so this has been great. It's been so frustrating at times.

I'm with Juniper and working with my coach about how to improve my lunches going forward and they said that seemed to be where I could improve (before I would eat lunch then get a massive carb craving at about 4pm) where I would teach for bread. I did want to change providers each month but think I'd have to go through alot of hassle as my bmi is now 26.9 so I'll stick.

According to my gym scales (which may be wildy inaccurate) 3lbs of that w1 6lbs weight list was muscle. Not sure if I 100% believe that, I suspect it was more water which the scales can't pick up.

For everyone nervous about taking the first one, I went through the exact same thing and almost bottled it.

I don’t get that at all, just a bit of bruising depending on which part of the body I jab.

Swollen and red and sore sounds to me like a potential allergic reaction - I would ask your pharmacist or doctor about it.

PinkCatInATree · 24/04/2025 16:28

Oh FFS ... Appetite suppression means the dog hasn't had his lunch and midday medication! Going to have to set a daily alarm to remind me.

TheDutchHouse · 24/04/2025 16:35

A positive side effect, I’ve just got back from my routine BP check. Have had medication for two years to try and keep it under control but with little success. Today’s appointment was about increasing the BP dosage.
But it seems my BP has dropped to numbers I haven’t seen for years. 😊

fox919 · 24/04/2025 17:18

Greats news @TheDutchHouse😊

w2d7 here, felt comfortably suppressed today and so far have only had about 350 calories (I don’t eat breakfast and do tend to want food more in the evening so that may rise a fair bit before the day is out).

Crikeyalmighty · 24/04/2025 17:22

@TheDutchHouse my BP has dropped to almost totally normal from a bit raised too

TC4 · 24/04/2025 17:23

So who are the Friday injection people? And is anyone moving up to 5mg tomorrow?? I am planning to 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Thank you .
One less medication is positive.
Im Wk 3 day 1 but also WK 2 day 7 depending on which way you count. 🤷‍♀️
Not much in way of negative side effects , suppression and feeling full definitely more so this past week.
I have only lost about 4.5Lbs in two weeks but a loss is a loss !

Wonderfulstuff · 24/04/2025 17:36

I've been having a weird mental side effect and wondered if anyone else has been the same? So over the last few days not only do I not really fancy much to eat but when I come to make food for the rest of the family I can't really get inspired to make anything for them either (this is weird as I enjoy cooking). It's as if in 2.5 weeks I've forgotten how to put a meal together. It's very strange. Poor DC is living on a diet of mainly pesto pasta and some veg (not that they're complaining!) because I've lost my foodie mojo!

alibobins · 24/04/2025 17:40

Hi all, I finally stopped talking myself out of this and ordered my first pen just over a week ago! I am now on W2 D1 and wish I’d started sooner.

SW 13.7
week 1 -6lb
I have had a few side effects of nausea and a funny taste in my mouth but suppression has been amazing.
I didn’t realise how much my life revolved around food.
