The March thread is one I watch too! I've just looked in my diary and there always seems be to an event to get navigate that makes me a bit nervous of increasing my dose! I think I'll do the same as you but I've read that some have managed to get 0.9ml out as a golden dose from the first pen which would be 3.75mg (I think!) - so that might be a nice stepping stone dose to see how well I tolerate it!

This is what I’m hoping that might somehow get a little extra out as the bonus dose and see how it goes 🤞🏻🤞🏻 or if there was a way I could give my last dose with a little extra using a bit of the bonus does to see how I go 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Some sites give you a discount code to share with others to get them and yourself a discount. I actually have one for medexpress and one for ZAVA so if you decide on either of those feel free to use them x

@TC4 could you pm me your zava code please?

Hello all.

I am starting this month. Have received my pen and it is in the fridge.
Am nervous.
Can't decide whether to start on the full 2.5 or a lower dose? Am worried about side effects. I work in education and am self employed so if I'm too unwell to work I won't get paid.

Any advice for a nervous newbie?

SausageRoll90 · 16/04/2025 19:20

@GRCP it's brilliant isn't it. I'm a foody so it felt so weird not being bothered about food. Admittedly I'm coming to the end of week 1 and I've definitely noticed an increase in hunger/appetite but I'm able to manage it fine because the food noise is still less.

@SurreyGirl69 seems we have a similar pattern (so far) with the suppression building up then dropping off the last few days. I'm definitely eating more, or wanting to eat more, the lash 36hrs. Although I think I'm potentially under-eating a bit because I've felt hungry all day.
Also on the dose front, when the time comes I think I'll just go to the 5mg straight rather than a 3.75mg because it's still a gradual increase so I feel like it should be ok 🤞🏻🤷🏻‍♀️

@TheNinthLock I was nervous too but I would just encourage you to go for it. There's a lot of what ifs before taking it and the vast majority of us seems to have been more than fine. It feels a huge leap into the unknown but as I come to the end of my 1st week I'm so so glad I bit the bullet and did it 👍🏻 you've got this 💛

Joining the thread - just placed my first order today after a lot of deliberation. Just over 90kg at 168cm. Not always been obese, used to fluctuate a bit between normal and slightly overweight, could always fix it with not too much effort but have been struggling for a few years now in perimenopause and it’s just getting worse each year. Really inspired by the stories on these threads and desperately hoping this will be the answer.

Need some advice, I’m really struggling to eat anything. Yesterday I had 550 calories, today I’ve only had 400 - a yoghurt, some soup and forced myself to eat a few mouthfuls of pasta for tea. It’s not that I feel sick, I just don’t want to eat. I’m very overweight, I’ve lost 11 pounds in 11 days, but I’m 18 stone, so what are peoples thoughts on eating so little? It’s not like I’m going to starve, and I continue to take supplements and drink plenty of water. Or is this okay if it’s balanced out with a couple of hungrier days later in the week, to make up for the calories? So weekly calories added up rather than daily calories? I’m aware that eating so little can cause damage, I’m just not sure what to do

PinkCatInATree · 16/04/2025 19:50

Advice?
No

Understanding and empathy?
Yes of course

My provider was really clear that I am in control and can stop if and when I want to, can up the dose or stay on a dose as I decide. It made me feel better that the jab will just be an added willpower and not my controller. Hope that helps

Is anyone else struggling to get anyone to use their discount code? I’ve had one person say they were going to use it but they clearly haven’t as I don’t have any credits showing on my dashboard. I can’t really afford to order the next one without the discount, is there some secret trick to getting someone to use it on the promo board? I posted it the other day but no takers. I know there are tons floating around out there so I understand it’s not as simple as just posting it though.

Yep, I haven’t had anyone use mine either, im
guessing so many people have posted theirs that older ones just get bypassed 😕. You can submit your MedExpress code on the monj site but it’s just by random selection if yours gets picked and is only on their site for one day (with no guarantee that anyone will use it). Good luck 🤞🏻😁

Zireael · 16/04/2025 20:05

My first package arrived. I’ve decided to start tomorrow after work so I have the long weekend to adjust to any immediate side effects.
Plus I also want to weigh myself for an up to date starting weight - I work in a health care environment and we have some super accurate calibrated scales

@TheNinthLockhello, I took my first dose last night and feel fine apart from sulphur burps this evening. I say go for it, especially assuming you have Easter weekend off. Good luck!

It’s one dose. The dose dial only goes up to 1 as that is the full dose. I don’t know whether the pens are different depending on providers but mine isn’t a digital read so I don’t understand how you can think the dial can go all the way to 4?

Fair enough.

I think making sure you are at least having some food each meal even if it's small is fine as it will balance out over the week if you're having hungrier days at other times in the week BUT if you're not having those hungrier days then I think it's important to try to at least have 1000cals if you can. Just so your body doesn't think it's in distress. Very little intake for prolonged periods can effect your electrolyte balance in your blood etc so important to ensure you're getting a balance over the week... Xx

Could you try drinking some of your calories? Like a homemade protein smoothie. And maybe try and include some high calorie ingredient in it like peanut butter?

Thanks, that’s why I opted for soup! I don’t do smoothies as I have a reactive hypoglycaemia but open to any other suggestions that might help!

I’ve ordered the 5mg however they sent me 6 needles with both pens so I might try to get the “golden dose” out of this pen on Sunday/Monday before I start on the stronger dose.
I have had very few SE on this but I’ve been avoiding anything spicy or too rich as that gives me really bad diarrhoea. I’ve also had the weird achey neck thing and been a bit more keen to get to bed early which I don’t think is a bag thing for me!
If I don’t do the golden dose I will need to hold off until weds PM to do the 5mg shot next week just so I can wfh for a couple of days as a precaution!
I do float around the March thread and most who have moved up to 5mg seem to have quite positive experiences.

I don’t think the device will prepare a 5th dose, so we have to use a syringe to draw the ‘golden’ dose out.

TheNinthLock · 16/04/2025 21:07

Thanks all. I think I will go for it tomorrow evening. We do have some social events planned with family over the easter weekend as well as building the pony a new field shelter - so I hope side effects remain minimal as need to be functioning on all cylinders (a tall order at the best of times!)

Shall I go for the full 2.5? There were some posts on MN with posters really struggling after their first dose....

GJMJ · 16/04/2025 21:09

I am WK1, day 3, I feel well, really thirsty, but I can’t seem to work out if I’m hungry or not? At times I think it’s working, then other times I don’t, feeling a little confused with it. Anyone else?

I feel this way from the 4th-7th day when I think the medicine starts to wear off for me. The first 3 days or so I feel excellent and the meds work really well. I’m on 2.5 so will move up to 5

GJMJ · 16/04/2025 21:22

Thank you, I will definitely continue. I was just worried about the placebo effect…. If such a thing?

Yes I feel the same now. Although have still only had 1200 calories today which is nothing short of a miracle for me. I think it’s the food noise that has gone so I’m not thinking about unhealthy snacking but have managed sensible meals. I’m glad I’m feeling well though and hoping I feel less rubbish after dose 2.

Yes, no snacking, but I’ve still had 2 glasses of wine 🫤

@Potato1234 I can't offer you any advice, but I wanted to say I'm in the same boat as you. I'm on W2D5 and the suppression is so strong I'm also struggling to eat much at all, which for this usually very greedy girl is a very odd state of affairs. I've simply lost all interest in food. I'm trying to remember to eat little and often, but I'm not hungry so I don't want to. I'm also forgetting to drink water, which I know is bad. I've had a similar weight loss to you so far, from a similar start, so it's certainly working. Long may it last!

Dobbysdad · 16/04/2025 22:48

fox919 · 16/04/2025 09:43

W1d5 here. Still no appetite suppression or lack of food noise, though did notice feeling fuller a bit quicker yesterday.

My mum is taking mj and hasn’t noticed much of an effect yet and she’s just going up to 7.5 now. Wondering if I’m likely to be like her and only respond at higher doses (obviously we’re genetically similar). 2nd dose on Saturday and will weigh then too. I would be very shocked if I’ve lost anything but live in hope.. and hopefully I’ll feel more as the weeks pass

Hiya, similar here! No real suppression or reduction in food noise. No side effects and also w1d5. I've seen a lot saying to try not to chase the suppression but I have had the suppression on saxenda so I know it has been helpful for me. I wonder if because I've had saxenda it'll take more to have those side effects.
