Asda have cut me off

Eminybob · 08/04/2025 13:49

Been on MJ for a year, I’ve lost 7 stone and am at target. I’ve been with Asda since day 1 and I have asked them previously about maintenance. They have even a bit vague, but have indicated they will continue to prescribe while I’m at a healthy weight.

My BMI is 21.6 so I’m still very much in the healthy range.

I tried to order 10mg (been on 15 up until now) and have been refused as they don’t deem me to need it any more.

I 100% know if I go cold turkey now I will regain, I was hoping to titrate down gradually but Asda clearly do not want to support that.

Can anyone please advise if am able to switch providers for maintenance with my current BMI? Which providers are recommended and how do I do it?

Thanks

They can not give you such a high dose when you BMI is so low, that's pretty obvious
Maintenance dose is 2.5

Doggymummar · 08/04/2025 13:50

I moved to Oushk at BMI 30 as I know some suppliers cut off after 25 BMI, drop them a line and ask them

YesThatsATurdOnTheRug · 08/04/2025 13:51

Have you talked to them about what they would consider prescribing? I would hope you wouldn't get a new script from anywhere at your current weight.

That's not right. You can maintain at 15 10 or 5 with Oushk 2.5 is a non therapeutic dose. I agree though the OP could be doing with titrating down around now,

You would have thought the medical professionals that I have been dealing with would advise me what dose I should be on. However they have given no such advice.

That's just not true. 2.5 is the starting dose.

Yeah you would have thought

MedExpress's cut off is 23.5 and as I never intended to go below that I stayed with them and have been maintaining for 6 months and not had an issues getting prescribed (so far).

Willowy1982 · 08/04/2025 15:07

I'm with Oushk and take 7.5mg as a maintenance dose witj a BMI of 20, there's no such thing as a set maintenance dose its whatever dose works for you where you are no longer losing or gaining.

That’s what Asda originally said.
I have messaged them to see if they have any further advice.

Would Oushk take me on now if I provide my full history so you know?

Just as an aside , I, just yesterday, got accepted ( for 10 dose) on oushk , but cancelled order as they were saying 9 days and £8 for delivery , which I think is a lot on both counts

If you need the order quickly than the online first available delivery, message them and they can often send it quicker. You do have to pay a delivery fee unfortunately.

I think if you can show your order history then there is a good chance. I'd maybe email or call to discuss first so you at least know where you stand rather than going through the order process only for it to be declined.

Eminybob · 08/04/2025 15:32

I still have 2.5 x 15mg pens in the fridge. I’m going to count clicks to titrate down on those so at least I still have a few months left on the medication if I can’t be prescribed any more.

Yes they will, you need to book a maintenance appt and they will review your history and talk about what type of maintenance plan is best for you.

I moved to IQDoctor - they asked for pictures of me/ ID and a pic of last prescription. They then review the information - there is a box to type additional information and you could explain that you wish to maintain. I think the review would be to check you are not requesting at a healthy weight to start and the prescription would show you have had it. The also asked for weight when moving from 2.5 to 5.0

DappledOliveGroves · 08/04/2025 15:56

I moved to Oushk with a BMI of around 22 I think. I’ve been on their Conti maintenance plan since October. I was with Voy but they didn’t offer maintenance.

I’m on 5mg but stretching it over 8/9 days and have recently dropped my dose to 3.75mg. I booked an online consultation and found the prescriber very accommodating and happy to be flexible and take me on even with a healthy BMI. I’m planning to stay on a maintenance dose for the foreseeable future as I have no desire to do any more yo-yo dieting.

CoverMeInMarmalade · 08/04/2025 18:44

I think BMI 22 is the cut off point for moving to maintenance with Oushk so you may be a little bit under it but worth talking to them to see.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 08/04/2025 19:27

Oushk, Pharmulous and maybe Simple Online would probably take you on for maintenance. Try emailing them and asking.
