I've been thinking about this for so long.
I've read everything I can find and think I'm as informed as I can be.
But fuck me I'm scared.
I don't know anyone who's using it, I've told my sister but that's all.

No reason for posting other than - aarrgghhb I'm scared !

I feel the same way- my first pen has beeen sitting in the fridge for 3 weeks!

lostintherainyday · 17/03/2025 21:34

I think the other thing that is worrying me is that I don’t want to tell anyone. They absolutely would judge me. And keeping it from DH makes me nervous.

SilenceInside · 17/03/2025 21:37

It’s not all or nothing. You can stop taking it and it will leave your system if you don’t like the effects or the side effects. Most people don’t get bad side effects, the more common side effects are mild and manageable through changing what you’re eating and/or taking OTC medication.

I started at the beginning of July 24 and have gone from a BMI of 50 to 33, and I’m continuing to lose weight. If you have decided that you need to lose weight for your health and those reasons outweigh the risks of any possible side effects then leaving it in the fridge for weeks isn’t going to address those health issues.

You can't tell your DH?
I wished I had someone with me to tell - I'm single and I think that's another thing that worries me, being alone with the beginning of the process

Totally get this, I can see me doing the same when it arrives 🙈

I understand the reluctance to use injections - it seems like a fairly drastic intervention. I had visions of the sort of injection used to take blood, and couldn't imagine how I would be able to do that to myself. Of course, it is nothing like that. The needle is tiny and you really feel nothing - in fact, the first time I did it, I assumed I had injected incorrectly, as I didn't feel anything. Good luck.

TinglyandCurious · 18/03/2025 10:04

Good luck! Totally understandable to be nervous - I was too. Good on you for doing lots of proper research. I’m 33lb down after 12 weeks and have never felt better. Apart from occasional nausea I’ve not really had side effects but I am eating “very clean” which probably helps with that. Make sure you get plenty of protein and drink lots of water 🙂

Edensnapz · 18/03/2025 10:05

I felt this way too OP. As @Adelstropput it, it does seem like a drastic intervention! But I've been fine. Minimal side effects, a bit of nausea and fatigue at times, but overall I feel amazing. I'm calmer, less anxious, happier...and weightloss wise, I'm down 8lb in 2 weeks.

You've done the right thing by doing some research, reading peoples experiences, and you're aware of potential side effects. Take a deep breath and try to go into it without expectation. You may lose quickly or it may be slower than others. You may have side effects or you may have none. It's the fear of the unknown, like any medication or big life change, and I completely empathise, as i felt scared too! If you do feel unwell, there are ways to manage the symptoms, I've read lots of great advice on this board.

Good luck!!

Zempy · 18/03/2025 10:12

I have been taking it since Jan 8 and lost two stone so far (13.7 to 11.7)

Today is the first day I have had gastric side effects, mild diarrhoea and strong nausea. I haven’t been sick. I’m freezing cold and sleeping a lot, but that’s it really.

You have three stone to lose so a couple of months at 2.5 probably isn’t going to be sufficient.

Jjff89 · 17/03/2025 20:29

@MerryGrimaceShake the dreaded burps....I've had them once after I ate sausage caserole my god! I think I prefer the bad tummy haha

They are horrendous! First time I had them I was really unwell all day, had to take an esomeprazole and go to bed!

Thankfully I can usually tell when they are starting before they get bad. Absolute rancid things Grin

WeAllHaveWings · 18/03/2025 18:20

The medication being in injection form really messed with my head. If it was a pill I wouldn't have worried as much.

Expect those feelings to ramp up when you are pointing the needle at your stomach! Once you decide to go for it don't overthink it or you will be there for over an hour like I was!

Whoknowsnotmeshrug · 18/03/2025 18:51

Is is inappropriate to say I’m a bit jealous of this explosive diarrhoea since I’ve had quite the opposite?

I guess I should be careful what i wish for 😆💩

SylviaPsyoplath · 18/03/2025 23:11

I’ll just add, friend did have a day of bad tummy (if you catch my drift!) so stay in on the day/day after you jab just in case. She’s been fine in that department since! She said it was like her body had a clear out.

I've been on Mounjaro since August 24, I reached my goal of 10st by Novemeber.

I absolutely LOVE what it's done for me, my confidence is back and I feel great in myself and my body.

HOWEVER, I have experienced hair loss and now have to have surgery for my gallbladder to be removed. It's not a big deal, it far outweighs the issues I'd have from being obese but please read up on side effects like gallstones etc. The pain is fucking horrific.

So sorry to hear you have this pain/surgery.
Can I ask how much weight you've lost since August?
I've read about the gall stone issue and seen various advice about how to limit/mitigate, but this dose make me nervous for sure

I was simulate starting weight to you. Lost 2 stones in 6 months. Stalled a bit around Xmas and then back on it. My only issue is the metal taste in the mouth. Worse on the first few days, and lager hangovers. Can’t drink lager anymore!
Moved slowly up to 7.5 mg.

Of course! I've lost 5st 2.6lbs since I started.

I'm now on 5mg as a maintenance dose and find that I'm eating a little more but still not over indulging like I used to which is great.

I lost my weight rapidly because I was filming, doing 72 hour weeks at work and finding no time to eat which was absolutely stupid of me but I just wasn't ever hungry when I finished work. That's why I've got gallstones. As long as you do it safely and slowly, you'll be fine and I wish you all the sucess! It has honestly the best journey I've taken☺️💓

Wow! Don’t take this the wrong way but losing a third of your body weight in 3 months is kind of scary.

AvantiAreShit · 20/03/2025 18:46

My numbers are similar to yours OP, currently 4 days in and it's been fine so far. Maybe slightly colder hands? But I get that anyway so hard to tell.

I haven't experienced as massive suppression as some people do and have been able to eat three meals a day, with decent protein and fibre. Obviously one never knows what's round the corner, and I think I can feel it starting to wear off a bit, but I have been pleased so far.

YourEarsCouldWinPrizes · 23/03/2025 00:18

Did it arrive OP?

snakeface · 23/03/2025 01:23

I'm worried about starting too, what if it doesn't work for me?

Anybody else over 55 years taking it and is it working for you?

SylviaPsyoplath · 23/03/2025 15:48

YourEarsCouldWinPrizes · 23/03/2025 00:18

Did it arrive OP?

Yes and I wanted until Friday eve to do it.
Been ok so far, tummy feels a bit different - bloated/churning so I gluggling water as much as I can.
Think I have suppression as I think about food but don't fancy anything and can't really be bothered to eat - although I'm making sure I do.
Fingers crossed this continues

Hi hope it's ok to post. I'm thinking about trying it too..only for a 3-6mths too as I would like to stop for a new month's then before we start TTC. I had GD during my pregnancy with my son and since been diagnosed with PCOS and just finding weigh loss so so so painfully slow but want to lose weight before TTC again. I've been on slimming world nearly a year now and only 7-10lb down with lots of fluctuations.

I'm nervous about the idea of starting it as it's all unknown. Reading this thread was helpful so just wanted to jump on the bandwagon xx
