I've been thinking about this for so long.
I've read everything I can find and think I'm as informed as I can be.
But fuck me I'm scared.
I don't know anyone who's using it, I've told my sister but that's all.

No reason for posting other than - aarrgghhb I'm scared !

This seems odd, why do it then? Scared/terrified is an overreaction.

dialfor · 17/03/2025 19:54

Why are you scared?

Wiseowltaylor · 17/03/2025 19:54

I was just the same, I even broke into a sweat after I injected. I’ve had very little side effects and I’m 2 stone down after starting New Year’s Day.

Ok that might be slightly hyperbole 😬
Just nervous/excited i guess.

In case I get awful side effects.
In case it doesn't work - although I know I'll lose through the diet/exercise
Because it's an unknown for me?

Thanks, good to hear I'm not totally bonkers for feeling this way.
Sounds like it's good for you, this is reassuring to hear!

Don’t be scared. It’s a new lease of life.

I’ve lost 39lbs in 12 weeks and feel amazing. 3 more stone to go!

SylviaPsyoplath · 17/03/2025 19:59

@MaybeMrs That's amazing, thank you - reassurance is very much appreciated, I don't have anyone irl to ask, so thank you

Healthy eating is key to minimising side effects. I haven’t had any, 4 months down the line - I still take 2.5mg but it’s enough to control things and aid my weight loss

shoofly · 17/03/2025 20:01

I felt like this. Only knew one person who was using it, (who persuaded me) and now know 5.
Minimal side effects, 7 injections and a stone and a half down. Wish I'd done it far sooner
Hope it goes well for you

I've read as much as I can about the effects of food on the side effects, so I'm going to make sure I'm all cleaneating before I start too.
I hope to stay on 2.5 and use a few months to just reset my habits 🙏

You will be fine OP. I'll be honest when I stepped up to 5mg I had the runs, I threw up and I was constipated....the joys. I am now on my 2nd 5mg pen and feel quite normal. There may be side effects but they pass and they are worth it.

I started on 20th Jan at 17 stone. I now weigh 14 stone 12, 8 weeks later.

HansHolbein · 17/03/2025 20:04

It’s life changing stuff. No side effects for me, apart from being fucking freezing all the time.

It’s not really meant to be used for a few months - what is your starting BMI?

Jjff89 · 17/03/2025 20:05

@HansHolbein I 2nd being bloody cold always as a side effect.

HansHolbein · 17/03/2025 20:07

@Jjff89 Hopefully it will pay off in the summer?!

Jjff89 · 17/03/2025 20:08

@HansHolbein i hope so its a new thing for me being cold. I'm (or was) windows open in winter to air the house out type....not anymore lol.

lostintherainyday · 17/03/2025 20:09

I get you OP. I’ve been thinking about it for months but not made the leap.

Im scared of gallbladder issues and pancreatitis, even though I know the chances are small, and that gallstones are caused by fast weight loss, not by the medication itself.

Also, something to do with it being an injection. Even though injections don’t bother me. If it was a daily pill I guarantee I would have started months ago.

HansHolbein · 17/03/2025 20:10

@Jjff89 Me toooooo! Always sweating my tits off! It was one of the things I dreaded most about the hot weather. I knew it was going be 6 months of misery. It’s the first time in forever that I’m actually looking forward to it.

Hope MJ is treating you well x

I think I've told myself just a few months so it feels less overwhelming.
Starting bmi: 30.7
Sw 12st 10
Tw 9st 10

What on earth are you terrified of. It's not euthanasia! Get a grip. I don't know how some people get through life.
If the side effects are too much for you then just stop taking it.

Shmee1988 · 17/03/2025 20:14

Good luck OP! I was similar, went back and forth for ages and eventually decided to try it. I was fine on 2.5mg and then towards the middle of my last week I felt hungrier so went up to the 5mg. Felt sick as a dog for 2 weeks so dropped and did a 3.75mg for one week. Did 5mg again last week and been fine. About to order my 7.5mg. I started on 2/01 at 12st 11lbs and am now 10st 13lbs. You'll not regret it!!

FedUpandEatingChocolate · 17/03/2025 20:15

You'll be fine! The injections are totally fine, I've had some nausea but I've learnt to manage that through diet.

I've gone for slow and steady - noone but Dh and I can visually tell, but I feel better already.
