@JoanCollinsDiva I’m 5’ 8’’ and 14 stone. I started at 14st 4lbs. Went up to 14st 7lbs on 2.5mg, then when on 5mg went down to 14st. Then piled back on 4lbs and then lost those 4lbs over last few weeks. So 4lbs loss overall. Pathetic really.
And the GP knows me well. I’m forever down there moaning about how exhausted I am. I probably have a blood test every month. Got my b12 due next week and I’m really feeling that deficiency. It’s been like it for over a decade. It got worse a couple of years ago after I developed massive fibroids. They are the size of a 5 month pregnancy and I’m on the waiting list for a hysterectomy. They have told me though that they don’t contribute to my weight. I’m just tubby by design. I have also asked about insulin resistance and was told it’s very rare. So it’s just that I have a sweet tooth.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 20/03/2025 11:56

@Polkadotdash me neither! I’m eating tiny portions at lunch and dinner only and after the first couple of days after jabbing, I’m hungry. And I’ve had urges to eat sweet stuff all the way through - no stopping of food noise for me.

I need to have a conversation next week about moving up to 7.5 - but have just forked out for a private thyroid test through the post.

Polkadotdash · 20/03/2025 12:22

@0ncemorewithfee1ing im going up to 7.5mg this weekend. Praying that this makes a difference and doesn’t make me sick.
I’ve checked my thyroid too and it’s fine.
So what’s going on?
I don’t know how long to keep sticking with MJ if it isn’t making a difference.
Im a lifelong calorie counter. I know what most things are in cals - years of WW on and off and every fad diet going. I had such high hopes that MJ was going to flick the switch and give me long term results.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 20/03/2025 14:07

@Polkadotdash do let us know how you get on on 7.5 - will be hoping hard that this works for you.

And yes, expecting the only results from the thyroid test to be a hole in my bank account!

Zempy · 20/03/2025 14:45

@Polkadotdash it must be so frustrating not to get the suppression you need to be able to lose. Fingers crossed the higher dose hits the spot.

I am another one who can’t really see the difference despite losing over two stone this year. I still look like shit, so I am just left feeling mortified at how Incredibly Shit I must have looked before 😳

I can see my boobs are a bit smaller I guess, and there’s a bit less stomach. It just doesn’t look like 56 packs of butter less.

HeavyHeidi · 20/03/2025 14:49

the 56 packs were not all packed on the stomach though, they were spread all over. I mean try to spread a pack of butter all over your skin, it's just a barely there layer (well, don't try, just imagine, no need to spread good butter) 😂
But it must still be more pleasant to go around without carrying all that butter with you?

Zempy · 20/03/2025 15:01

To be fair I reckon my previous body composition was about 65% butter…

@Polkadotdash Did you feel a difference when you went up to 5 mg. It could be that you need the higher doses to notice an effect - 2.5 mg is not a therapeutic dose, and while it can be effective for some people, others might not be responsive. So 5 mg is the lowest therapeutic dose, so it's possible that you just need a higher one. No two takers are the same!

JoanCollinsDiva · 20/03/2025 15:30

Polkadotdash
I think you definitely need the higher doses - fingers crossed it starts to work better for you soon.

Also, a quick google of "which mounjaro dosage has the most success?" came up with this:

research shows the best weight loss results are at 72 weeks on the 5mg, 10mg, and 15mg maintenance doses.” Dr Zoe Miller, Medical Editor

Studies have shown people can lose up to 22.5% of their starting weight while taking the highest maintenance dose of 15 mg after 72 weeks. (Superdrug online).

Polkadotdash · 20/03/2025 17:06

Loving the packs of butter comparisons!

I do also think that our self-perception means that we see ourselves as enormous when we aren’t and awful when we aren’t. Changing your body shape messes with your head more than it does for other people’s view of you.

Polkadotdash · 20/03/2025 17:11

@0ncemorewithfee1ing i will post on 7.5mg progress once I start it. When I went up to 5mg it initially made me feel nauseous all the time (which was when I lost half a stone) but once it settled I went back to gaining. I’m expecting nausea at 7.5mg too. Maybe that will help me shift some pounds for April. I have a big family party at the end of the month and the last time I saw everyone was just before Christmas and I was huge. It was the photos from that party that made me think I had got to do something about my weight. I really want to look better by then. It’s vain, I know. But still.

MananaMananaPenelope · 20/03/2025 18:12

@Polkadotdash you really do have my sympathy,

I’ve had huge fibroids for more than a decade. I’m sure that you know that they can affect your hormones which means your estrogen or progesterone level may well be abnormal, which will in turn might make it really difficult for you to lose weight. I’m riding mine out, at almost 57 the end must be in sight.

I know someone who was always very heavy, until she had a hysterectomy, the weight just dropped off her in the six months after surgery.

I hope 7.5mg brings you some results.

cloudjumper · 20/03/2025 19:11

@MananaMananaPenelope @Polkadotdash I also have fibroids, the biggest one has recently grown to 17 cm (after not doing anything for years!). I’m finally having a hysterectomy at the beginning of April, after more than a year pushing for it. I certainly hope for a big improvement in quality of life, and also quite a drop in weight post-surgery- after all, I’m carrying the equivalent of a 30+week pregnancy…

Polkadotdash · 20/03/2025 19:34

@cloudjumper my biggest one is 17cm too! A beast. I asked the consultant if I would lose weight after the hysterectomy (as I was really hoping that it would have some effect). She replied that it was probably no more than a pound so not to hope for much. In my mind they must be so heavy. I imagine them, like some kettle bell in there.
Good luck with your op. I shall be following your journey with interest to see if you are allowed to stay on MJ during your recovery.

KhakiCat · 20/03/2025 20:44

W10D1 (7.5mg)
Loss to date: 8.8 kg (19.4 lbs)
To goal 1 (<30 BMI): 6.6 kg (14.6 lbs)

Hey all! I have just taken my second 7.5mg. At first I thought this might be a good maintenance for me, but now I definitely want to go up to 10mg because I'm experiencing my first real stall!

Despite suppression being REALLY good, food noise virtually non-existent and absolutely zero side effects on this dose, I've basically lost nothing in over a week.

I know it's the longer term average result that matters but a week with no loss is a bit frustrating after such steady, great progress...

I still consider myself lucky to have no side effects and making noticeable progress towards my first goal of being no longer BMI obese.

I'm upping my exercise this week to try to push past this plateau. Nothing strenuous; just some weights in the living room, a bit more walking and dancing!

Good luck to all starting their 7.5mg soon, it's a scary step up! Scarier, I thought, than 2.5mg to 5mg.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 20/03/2025 21:06

Jab day for me today, I’ve just had my third 7.5mg dose. I’ve loved being on this dose, I’ve had no side effects at all, had more energy and brilliant appetite suppression. Really good losses as well, however, I am having some minor surgery in 2 weeks and have been told I have to stop mounjaro for 2 weeks before the op. I’m a bit worried about having to miss next weeks dose, I really hope it doesn’t mess things up for me too much 🤞.

JoanCollinsDiva · 20/03/2025 21:11

KhakiCat

I only lost 1lb last week despite averaging around 800 cals a day (much less than my tdee) and exercising every day. I'm fully expecting that losses will slow as I get lighter - it's unsustainable for most people to be losing 2, 3, 4lbs every single week. You need to give your body time to catch up and it's not going to be a linear loss every week. Don't lose heart! I know it's frustrating but one week without a loss is a mere blip - it's not even really a plateau!!

You're doing great 👌

That's heartening to hear mummy - I'm jabbing first 7.5mg pen this weekend and undecided whether to do a normal dose or count clicks and do 5mg bc I'm already not eating much.

I don't know if I can be arsed with counting clicks! I get easily confused 😂

Yes I have found as well that despite being a lifelong calorie counter, I often underestimate the calories by a lot. Like look at this plate of sushi, certainly not a massive portion, right? You would not be considered greedy and stuffing your face if you ate one of those for lunch - most people would probably consider it a modest low calorie meal.

612 kcal. You won't have much left if you want to stick to 1200.

Went out for a sushi dinner tonight! Thanks for the inspo @HeavyHeidi
I just totted up my calories and I think it’s about 760. Shared a sashimi set and an 8-piece roll. Took a risk and ordered fried tofu, but when it turned up the fried smell was a bit off putting - had one cube and then left the other three for DH. Then a 6 piece roll with chicken yakitori…could only manage one piece and that was the end of the meal for me. So quite a high calorie day for me - 1400.
But it’s nice to have gone out for dinner after a big day at work.

unicornsaremagical · 21/03/2025 06:06

well done on the losses everyone. Love reading everyone’s progress. I’m another one who can’t see a huge difference yet i’m nearly 3 stone down, i know it’s going because of moving down dress sizes but physically i feel like an elephant still.
Week 10 done, another 3lb lost. Has anyone reached a healthy BMI yet? So close to the 11 stone bracket so hoping to reach that this week.

SW: 14.11
CW:12.1
GW: 11? see how i feel when i get there

HeavyHeidi · 21/03/2025 06:14

Morning losers - last weigh in I had a very disappointing loss of 300gr, but caught up this week and lost 1.8 kilos. I'm at healthy BMI now.

Focussingonme · 21/03/2025 06:36

Wow, huge congratulations on your losses everyone!! Total loss is a little over 2 stone and I'm on W11D5 at 5mg.

I've not posted for a while, works be mad but here are my stats:

SW: 94.6kg
CW: 81.4kg
GW: 63.5kg (10 stone) ish

Weight loss has slowed down to about 1-2lbs a week which I'm happy with, but the 5mg is seeing my sweet tooth creep back in. Have had a rough few weeks at work though so might be that.

I'm also having local reactions to the injection site since I went up to 5mg, so reluctant to go up to 7.5mg as the Dr at Med-Express said it could be due to the increased concentration.

Hope you don't mind me delurking. I started in February.

The reason the research shows is is because the participants were randomised to placebo and those three doses.

People on the 15mg lost more than those on 10mg who also lost more than those on the 5mg, on average
https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2206038

Also to those having a hysterectomy, I had one last year before Mounjaro. I lost a little weight after but some women have gained weight as they were eating a lot and bored at home.
Your body will definitely need the calories to recover in the few weeks at least after.

Zempy · 21/03/2025 06:42

Well done @HeavyHeidi !!! You really do have to change your name now!

Im going to weigh in a bit. Don’t really want to as constipated again…

unicornsaremagical · 21/03/2025 06:44

@HeavyHeidi Congrats and well done on the healthy bmi, you must be so proud! Are you doing maintenance now or still losing? I’m not sure of weight when starting but do you feel different now, like smaller? As i still don't and wondered if you do eventually adjust and feel/see it. I’m 1stone from a healthy bmi now so thought i’d feel it more
