@Blondeshavemorefun some little words to get you going!

And those words are important for us all to remember...thank you @owlyboo

owlyboo · 31/03/2025 22:50

@Azuresky68well you’ve taken the best possible steps to have the longest life possible! I’m sure you have many many more years and holidays to enjoy!

im sorry you were stuck in it for so long. To be fair throughout my whole relationship and marriage I minimised myself to not ‘rock the boat’ and it just worsened as time went on. Especially as I got bigger in the last few years since Covid as I just lost another part of myself. Another reason to not be good enough. I was with my exH since I was 18 and I’m now 37 so I’m finally discovering ‘me’ as an adult and I’ll never let another man dull my shine again!

Weigh day.....drum roll please.....

I am no longer obese!!!!! Finally!!!!

I've hit 7 stone loss!

I'm in the 11s from 19 stone!! Just barely but I'm taking it 😂

Wow that's fabulous @4pink1blue you look amazing!

20bloodypounds · 01/04/2025 20:20

@PoemsForTea everything about you looks transformed - your stance, your shape, your joie de vivre... Be proud!

@4pink1blue your shorts pic is superb. dh (who never seems to notice if I've gained weight, but also never notices that I've lost...) apologised today because he'd done the laundry and thought he'd shrunk my new jumper. No! It is just a much smaller sized piece of clothing Grin

NSV: went for a spa day yesterday with my friend (celebrating our big old age pension milestones). Well, I almost pranced around in my cozzie rather than creeping around wrapped in a large towelling robe. And, in a full length mirror in the changing room I think I saw a thigh gap!!! And it was mine!

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/04/2025 23:02

Whoop for thigh gap @20bloodypounds. I have a tiny one but nether the less you can see daylight /through the gap

never had that before

I think I posted about it and did a pic 😂

Hey all, well done to everyone. Sorry for being vague.

I’ve not been on for a while, struggling massively with my MH and feeling overwhelmed.
I know some have said they’ve had low mood linked to MJ but I’m still plodding on at 3.75. Could it be affecting me differently now? I’ve not been this low for a very long time.

Fighting school for DS, who is fighting me. I have a teen who avoids me but when forced speaks to me with utter contempt. Worries with parents/step parents, including cancer diagnosis. Anniversary of losing my mum approaching. I have some deep rooted issues from childhood. And now being told in my annual appraisal that I’ve failed. (Not been given a target for most of the year, and can’t give me an actual overall figure achieved only that it wasn’t enough).

I reached for the crisps yesterday, my comfort reflex, eat and make it go away…..

Sorry, offloading. Can’t sleep and don’t have any support in RL

Azuresky68 · 02/04/2025 07:23

@Usernamechangeforthis12 so sorry that you are having a tough time. Please don't apologise for offloading..it's a safe space here and offloading is a good thing to do. I couldn't praise this thread enough..it's been a life line for me and also made me giggle on many occaissions. I sincerely hope things get better but in the meantime hang on in there and keep on offloading. Wishing you all the best.

BettyandtheVets · 02/04/2025 08:14

@Usernamechangeforthis12 try not to be too hard on yourself for reaching for the crisps. Sounds like you have so much going on touching every aspect of your life - it really can’t be easy.

someone will come along soon that knows much more than me, but I just wanted to say you sounds like you’re being a great mama fighting for your DS (been there and done that and it’s exhausting). Your teen sounds like mine did and it gets better I promise - just had a message from my DS that he can’t wait for us all to get together for a BBQ - he couldn’t stand the sight of any of us when he was a teenager.

Work is often a place of sanctuary when things are tough at home so it’s hard that that isn’t great too. You have so much going on, please remember to be kind and thoughtful to yourself as well as everyone else.

Sending big hugs.

weaselyeyes · 02/04/2025 09:17

Sorry to hear you're having such a tough time @Usernamechangeforthis12. It's awful to have so much to deal with simultaneously. It's not surprising you reached for the crisps - I expect for most of us it's been a familiar coping mechanism. We also know that it only works for the few seconds of eating, though - after you just tend to feel worse. Don't blame yourself, but maybe try to think is there anything else you could do instead? Shut yourself away from everyone for a peaceful bath? It depends whether you can get out or not, but for me the thing that most helps me deal with eating urges and general misery/anxiety is walking. You never want to do it (unlike crisps!), but when you do it helps. Maybe a walking mediation or something to accompany it?

Work sounds crap. Don't know what your workplace is like, but I'd set out your concerns in a brief email asap. Generally an appraisal shouldn't be the first time you hear about an issue. Also they need to spell out that it was clear what expectations were and how you didn't meet them. You could request this in writing (nicely but firmly).

Re MJ, there's quite a few people I've seen saying that their mental health can be poorly affected even on low doses. Maybe try going down to 3 for a couple of weeks to see what happens mood/eating wise? It's hard to tell what causes what when you have so much going on at once, I'm sorry it's such a rough patch.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/04/2025 09:57

@Usernamechangeforthis12 sorry having a bad time with mh 💐💐

sounds like you have a lot going on in life with children. Parents , illness , anniversaries (always hard) work

so you are crisps. Not the end of the world. I eat them

Don’t be so hard on yourself and today is a new day

@Usernamechangeforthis12 So sorry you are going through such horribly difficult and stressful times. Sending hugs.
The one thing that works for me to stop me self sabotaging when I am in that frame of mind, is to brush my teeth. Weird but it works for me.
I have suffered badly with low mood from the start, still do. I am completely flat emotionally, no joy, no happiness when I lose weight, just complete flatness. It also kind of works the other way too, so I dont get upset, stressed or angry, even when I should, its like I am completely void of any and all emotions.
I am only on 4.5mg, if I go up its only by 2 clicks/mls at a time.

Hope things pick up for you soon😊

Mum0ntherun · 02/04/2025 10:15

Ladies looking for some suggestions, please. I moved up to 7.5 about two months ago and since then I haven’t lost any weight - well I’ve lost the same 2 lb and gained it for over six weeks. I’ve just this week moved up to 10 and it doesn’t feel any different. Before moving up to 7.5 I was losing an average 2lb a week. Nothing has changed in terms of food and activity. I just seem to have come to a stop.

As you can imagine, I’m really a bit low about this and frustrated. Any ideas as to what's gone wrong and anyone else been in this position? i’ve lost around 4 stone but have another 2 to go - so still a long way and it’s costing me a fortune to just standstill🥺

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/04/2025 11:02

it took to 10 to really get me going @Mum0ntherun. If only starters this week see how it goes. And see what you lose in 5w - so a pens worth

how many calories are you having a day ?

are you being honest what you eat ?

OP posts:
Mum0ntherun · 02/04/2025 11:20

@Blondeshavemorefun
Up to 1500, but more like 12/1300. And I am recording everything on MFP and have since the start - every solitary thing! It was like a switch turned off at 7.5 as before that was great, but I moved up because the food noise was much louder than it had been.

Weepixie · 02/04/2025 12:18

@Mum0ntherun do you work out your new TDEE every few weeks as it will change the lighter you become.

TDEE - 500 calories =

it’s also a good idea to use 2 or 3 TDEE calculators to get a good idea of an accurate TDEE.

Also, do you weigh what you’re eating at every meal time or are you guesstimating at all.

And would you consider eating the same two or 3 meals for a week just to see what happens when you’ve left no wiggle room for any mistakes with your calorie counting.

4pink1blue · 02/04/2025 12:30

@Usernamechangeforthis12 so sorry you're having a bad time. Sending virtual hugs xxx

Mum0ntherun · 02/04/2025 12:39

@Weepixie Yes, I am on the right TDEE - I use My Fitness Pal and it suggests the right calories too. I do weigh most things; sometimes it's a guess but I tend to try to overestimate, and if I'm not sure, I overcompensate the next day - for example I was away at the weekend and had afternoon tea and had to guess so the next day I pulled my calories down to balance.

The way I eat and approach things has not changed at all during this whole time and I was steadily losing until I went to 7.5. Will have to see what 10 does in the coming weeks, but I really don't feel any difference yet. Wish I'd stayed on 5 - seems counterintuitive to go back down to 5 when the food noise was increasing.

I'm at a loss really!

Mum0ntherun · 02/04/2025 12:43

@Usernamechangeforthis12 just wanted to say that I'm sorry life is tough for you at the moment. Being able to unload somewhere and talk about it - even if it is only here - will help you so much. Simply getting things out of your head on to 'paper' is so helpful. Keep talking xx

weaselyeyes · 02/04/2025 13:07

@Mum0ntherun That sounds a bit of a pain. I don't think there's any way that going up a dose would actively prevent you losing weight, so it sounds more like you would be plateauing anyway for whatever reason and the 7.5 hasn't been enough in itself to overcome it. I guess various things could be happening:

  • TDEEs aren't very accurate on an individual basis, so it may just be you need to go down a little because you've been dieting for longer. My calculations wildly overestimate what I can eat to maintain or lose, but it does sound like yours must have been broadly ok to start with. If you were overeating a lot before starting, though, it may be that the drop was enough to cause weight loss but calories are now a bit high? You don't want to end up too low though, so maybe very strict weighting for a week or two would give you an indication
  • You could try changing around what you're eating. I find it very easy to get stuck eating the same safe things and sometimes a change helps. When in doubt, eat more vegetables! Cut out things that are UPF heavy or have lots of salt
  • are you drinking enough water? Maybe set yourself strict targets for a bit. I was great when I started and then really tailed off and have to make an effort now
  • you could always try going up a little e.g. to 8 or 8.5 to see what happens (or down a little, if you're anxious about side effects)
  • I don't think there's necessarily any problem with what you're doing and it's actually not that common to go a month or two without any real change, but obviously it doesn't feel great and then it's easy to get disenchanted and find a bit of snacking creeping in
Mum0ntherun · 02/04/2025 13:22

@weaselyeyes Thanks, this is useful. Yes I was overeating, so may have reached my plateau and I am eating the same foods as it is easy so I will look to up the veg and fruit. And I agree not been drinking anywhere near what I was in the early days. So I have a plan - fingers crossed it works for me :-)

Azuresky68 · 02/04/2025 13:24

I finally got weighed after 3 and a half weeks (no batteries for scales) After 2 and a half weeks holiday plus really bad tummy upset I have gained a pound but not to worried as I didn't weigh at the usual time - usually weigh first thing in the morning but today it was 1 pm. I need to set a regular weigh day again. My original goal was 9 stone but wanted some wriggle room! So I am at my original goal right now but am hoping to lose another 7 pounds. Currently on 10 mg. I have ordered another 10 mg and will maybe stay on 10 mg for a few months. Feel a bit dependant on MJ to be honest - I like the way it stops food noise. I have a 7.5 in the fridge as I intended to taper down but not quite ready to yet.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/04/2025 16:39

Why did you go up to 7.5 if all ok on 5? @Mum0ntherun

i think you are the same height as me so suprised allowed 1500c. Mine is 1200 but appreciate you aren’t having 1500 always

what did you lose in the 5w of 7.5 ?

it’s frustrating sts for a few weeks. Think we have all been there so sure you are due a whoosh soon

can you post a few days menus so we can help you ?

and water. If don’t drink a lot I notice it
