Think it’s hard to switch up tbh when been fat and over weight for decades

i will always be harsh on myself as that’s just me

I know I have lost weight. Obviously but I don’t see a huge diff and the fact I can’t get anywhere near a 14 at the moment pisses me off a lot

I know I eat less but that’s to keep in the cals

I weigh pasta mince chicken etx to keep in the cals. I prob could eat a larger portion but I don’t as know need to stick in cals

tho as I said this am I couldn’t eat breakie and have many times over the years at beefeater

Hi all sorry I’ve been missing again for a while.

Been having a pretty tricky time with ds still really struggling with dis regulation and as usual it’s me who gets the brunt of it but anyway… that’s life!

in also still eat chocolate/crisps but so much less. I can eat a few pieces and be satisfied rather than wolf the whole bar down!

I maintained again this week which is great, to be staying at the 10 and half stone mark would be great going forward. Lowest I’ve been since a young teenager. When I was this size before I was more like 11 stone.

weaselyeyes · 30/03/2025 20:13

so many others say they can’t face a mouthful or eat 2 bites and full
never want a cake or biscuit or crisps or bad food

But I don't think there's anyone on this thread who'd say this right now, is there? I mean, most of us have probably felt like this at times - I did in the first few weeks maybe - but not consistently as a constant response to MJ. Some of us have also felt like this when going up a dose, having bad side effects or having a weird response for a bit, but I just don't think this reflects what most people experience most of the time. I think when you read all of the MJ threads you get more of this sort of comment, but that's because there's a much higher volume of comments from people who are just starting out who are documenting their response much more, and from some who are having a very strong response or (sometimes) being a bit performative, like on the eating thread. It's easy to seize on these comments as representative because that's what people want or fear will happen, but they're really not, just as so many people describe themselves as slow losers when they've lost multiple stone.

I just think it's unhelpful to see the most extreme responses as the norm. I'd say most of us on here are pottering on, having good and bad weeks, sometimes going out or on holiday and over eating and then dealing with the gain or staying the same. And we've managed to lose lots of weight, even though the numbers/inches vary a lot between us. That's what we should be celebrating, not thinking it's somehow easier for other people. All of us still going or still maintaining have had our unique challenges and we've persevered. Hooray for us!

weaselyeyes · 30/03/2025 20:20

@owlyboo Sorry to hear about ds's struggles - hope you both get an easier time of it soon!

It's interesting you find yourself weighing less than when you were the same size. I think when I was this weight before I was thinner, but on reflection I think it's more that everything was firmer! If I could somehow scrape off the flabby bits, I think I'd probably weigh about a stone less. I'd settle for keeping them if I could just smooth them out over my whole body a little more, instead of them draping themselves rather unattractively on key areas 😀But I'm grateful my body's been through such a lot and is still sustaining me, and if I had to choose between being very overweight or normal but droopy, I'd go for the latter every single time!

thanks! Fingers crossed.

I think I weighed more as I was a real
gym goer (worked out 10+ hours at least a week 😳) so I had a lot more muscle so it would probably make sense I was heavier.

yes I would definitely choose droppier over fatter! Health every time! I noticed my boobs are looking slightly less awful so fingers crossed our skin might start to firm over time. Could be in my head but I’m sure they looked slightly better when I caught sight of them getting dressed today!

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/03/2025 20:56

((Hugs)) sorry having hard time with ds - maintained is fab. Well done

@weaselyeyes it’s from the what did I eat thread - amazing what some eat and lose weight - equally some eat barely anything

I’m a bad blondes. Will try and be better

@PoemsForTea fab pics! You look so happy 😊
Had a very long Mothers Day at work followed by a very long road diversion so only just got home . Haven't caught up properly but had to reply to the pics!
Hope all the Morhers had a lovely day xx

weaselyeyes · 30/03/2025 22:31

@Blondeshavemorefun Saying you’re bad is kind of the opposite of what I was saying… 😀 How about you settle for being just like the rest of us: muddling through, no worse off than anyone else, just doing a great job in the face of all the challenges 🙃

@PoemsForTea meant to say how lovely to see you in your photos! You’re a lot slimmer in one, but they’re both great shots

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/03/2025 22:46

@weaselyeyes don’t worry. I think I’m just tough on my self since I split with dh last year and have to be the best I can for dd as only me - don’t know if that makes sense but I kwim

I’m thinking of going back down to 10 for my next pen. The first couple of days on 12.5 are horrendous for me, the gas is terrible and it makes me feel so so ill. I am probably coming off after this next pen to TTC anyway, so could go down before coming off. 🤔 need to decide as used bonus dose yesterday so need to order.

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/03/2025 18:12

@SilverSprings510 yes go down a pen. No point feeling ill

Wow what a difference! I wish I’d kept a pair to compare.

this morning I went to put on a new pair of trousers and was sure they wouldn’t fit, they looked so small. But nope, they do!

weight very static at the moment, hoping for a good woosh?

Please stop being tough on yourself and start being kind..that's an order otherwise we will be tough on you for being tough on yourself 😅🤗 You should be proud of yourself for doing so well and for keeping us all going! Sending virtual hugs

Azuresky68 · 31/03/2025 22:22

@Timetofindme agree with your approach and I try to practice it too....after many years of self criticism and low self esteem the power of challenging negative self talk is a great tool. The effect of getting to my goal and finally feeling in charge of my weight (only with help of MJ) is also fantastic for feeling happy. I have started to enjoy looking in the mirror and seeing the new slim me. It's never too late!

Azuresky68 · 31/03/2025 22:30

I haven't got weighed since my holiday as the batteries ran out on my scales. I hope you don't mind me posting about jeans size as I have something to celebrate. Bear in mind I am under 5 foot..sshh don't tell anyone! Went shopping today as I had some shopping vouchers given. For the first time in my life I got into a size 8 pair of jeans...I could have shouted with joy in the changing room! It's taken me until I am 68 to get there but I have finally done it! 👖

Well done for a fabulous NSV 👌

owlyboo · 31/03/2025 22:34

I completely agree @Azuresky68the first year after my spilt with my exH (and many years with him) I felt worthless and spoke to myself like I was a piece of shit.

when I decided in August to start MJ and spent the time (and money) concentrating on me I flipped a switch, even before I lost much weight I decided that I only get one me, and I realised that I am a good person, I’m a great friend, a great mum and I’m always positive to every person apart from me. And if anyone spoke to my friends or family the way I spoke to myself I would be horrified. To begin with it feels false, mentally giving yourself positive feedback but after a while it becomes the norm and you truely begin to love yourself and believe you deserve the feedback you give yourself!

I know it sounds wanky @Blondeshavemorefun but it really does work!

Azuresky68 · 31/03/2025 22:35

@owlyboo glad to see you back..we missed you. So sorry about your recent struggles. You are doing amazing against the odds. Glad to hear that you are maintaining and happy with your weight 🤗

owlyboo · 31/03/2025 22:35

And well done on the jeans @Azuresky68

owlyboo · 31/03/2025 22:35

@owlyboo I have just seen your latest post and it's absolutely spot on. I totally relate to what you are saying. My down times lasted for a long time so I am happy for you that you took quick action. I could be sad that it took me so long to get to a good place in my life but there's no point...I am just determined to enjoy the time I have left. My fella is 70 in July and I am 69. He had a heart valve replacement 2 years ago which has kept him alive thank goodness. I told him today he had better stick around for a long time because otherwise it would ruin my holiday plans. He is my favourite travel companion 🥰
