Thread SIX of this lovely community. Anyone using weight-loss injections to lose more than 5 stone or 30kg is very welcome to join us, no matter what stage of the process you are on. Share your losses, your non-scale victories (NSV), your frustrations and your love of Longley Farm cottage cheese and kiwi fruit here!

Please don’t post discount codes on this thread as your post will be deleted. These need to go in the dedicated thread on this board.

I really really need to actually stop reading other MJ threads, there’s yet another ‘I’m current barely eating any calories, but want to eat even less, if I take MJ can I get away with starving myself……’ thread and I just want to scream at them.

I've given up. There's no point arguing with stupid and it just winds me up.

I console myself with the thought that this, for them, is what all those diets and stuff were for me and they are just not ready yet to do it as sensibly as we are.

alltablenochairs · 26/03/2025 22:15

Between here and reddit I have seen some very interesting things. Including people thinking MJ is a fat melting medication (I wish), people thinking it's a short term fix, people who shouldn't be using it who are using it and my own personal really moment of someone using an entire pen in one go.

For precisely these reasons and because of the developing stigma around it I tell very, very few people IRL about it. Only my DH and my best friend know. I've got a range of answers for anyone else who asks but generally they're along the lines of 'I don't discuss my private medical information'

Brilliant - congratulations!! 😍 Such an amazing milestone - 4 actual stone..!

I'm hoping to hit 30lbs in the next couple of weeks, which feels like a nice number to achieve and is one of my mini milestones - just got to try to wait to weigh myself for another week or so 😀

Bloody hell, especially to the whole pen in one go. Some people shouldn't be allowed out without toddler reins on.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 27/03/2025 09:22

Oh well done @WafflingDreamer! Getting past half way is a great feeling.

3lbs off this week. Very pleased with that!

MooBaggage · 27/03/2025 10:30

NSV: my new (size 20!) jeans are tight, but fit - am currently wearing them and hoping I can break them in a bit as I'm off to 2 (yes 2) 'gigs' over the next 3 days. I have a crazy friend who is also 56 but loves music I've never even heard of, so we're off to the radio 6 live music festival tonight and Saturday 😬 I'm just glad my plantar fasciitis has gone, as I get the feeling it'll be standing only (shoot me now) - but will be good for me...!

non-NSV: my 2 x Vinted tops recently acquired don't fit me yet - they're size 22, so I was being a bit hopeful, but the boobs are not having it yet. But.... instead of getting all miserable, I've put them to one side in the wardrobe, because I know they'll fit me over the summer 😮 This kind of thinking has never happened to me before - so am taking it as a win anyway...! 😀

Arglefraster · 27/03/2025 10:59

@WafflingDreamer🎉🎉🎉 heading for more lost than to lose sounds amazing!

@MooBaggagelove the NSVs!

you lot make me laugh about the dodgy MJ threads - some of them are just utterly ridiculous. Plus the wild messing about with an injectable (albeit subcutaneous) drug 🙈

Thank you for the gorgeous swimsuit recommendations. I'm ridiculously allergic to neoprene (of course 🤣) so no wet suits for me. I take my kids river swimming over the summer but I feel safer as lifeguard on the bank so don't do more than wade. Maybe I'll make DH come with us one time so I can get in (although he's not a great lifeguard 🤦🏻‍♀️).

I'm on a protein quest again after freaking out about my hair falling out (I have alopecia so I'm fairly paranoid...). I swear everytime I start reading up the protein g/kg/d goes up!! I'm currently trying to drink a concoction of whey powder, dates, chia & inulin which is ridiculously sweet (I hadn't thought about how sweet milk is) and smells just like making up bottles for orphaned lambs 😂 just grateful I don't need the cod liver oil we used to dose them with 🤢

hi @AnneinEdinburgh good to have you with us

RobinEllacotStrike · 27/03/2025 11:15

I think there are many Scots on this thread!

I tried something new last night - Escastic Dancing. It was recommended by a friend who has been before and another friend & I decided to give it a go. The local church hall was transformed with fairy lights, soft lighting, candles, incence etc. And there is a DJ playing great beats. Most people came alone. We all danced - no booze, no phones, no talking. Just a space for free expression and encouragement to move your body in whatever response to the music you are feeling. I loved it. Like the worlds most perfect and lovely exercise class - loads of room to move and wave arms around etc. Dance for an hour, home by 8:15!!

It is something I will add to my calander to enjoy monthly. My friend loved it too and we joked how we are in a cult now. My very "non-woo" friend declared she might be a little more woo than she thought 😁🤣

Love the sound of Radio 6 music festival @MooBaggage enjoy!

Iwanttoputmytreeup · 27/03/2025 11:55

Starting to get a bit of notice that I've lost weight, nearly 5 stone now, but finding it really awkward when people ask if I am taking the injections, pull a right face and obviously completely disagree with the idea of them :( I don't lie as such, just saying eating less rubbish type answer, but they are obviously very judging! The only person that knows 6 months in is my husband.....and I think that's how it's going to have to stay!

Thisshirtisonfire · 27/03/2025 11:58

Loveachoc · 26/03/2025 03:22

@Thisshirtisonfire how far are you in your journey? I say this as a person who NEVER got cold. However when I hit the 80kg or so mark things switched rapidly. I couldn't live without about 3 layers on in the house with the heating on.

That's good to hear! I've only lost 16lbs so far.

Nooooooo.... no, no, no...! I am a Classic FM girl, mostly! Or trashy 70's disco 😀 Absolutely nothing else in between...!

People are such idiots! My Mum has noticed and asked me outright last week how I was doing it, so I told her. She was shocked and a bit concerned at first, but I explained how it works and why I am responding so well to it and she's all good now (and my Mum is a tough gig in general...).

I really want people to understand that it's just another medicine for a disease that needs treatment - I hate the shame that's wrapped up in obesity and I think anyone (like us!) with long term obesity needs treatment, rather than endless self-punishing diets. I think it's different to being a stone or so overweight every now and then (my Mum falls into this category and asked me if she could get it 🙄), so I'm going to tell people as and when anyone asks me outright how I've lost weight.

Nearly 5 stone is so amazing - am in awe and wishing the next year away so I can hopefully be there too 🙂

I'm honestly horrified that there are people who feel justified in asking. How rude.

Really glad you had a fun night and found a new activity @RobinEllacotStrike!

I have taken the decision to tell people I’m on Mounjaro, mainly because I don’t want people to think that they are in some way deficient because low cal/exercise isn’t working for them but is for me, I want to be open about the fact that this probably wouldn’t be working for me if it wasn’t for the MJ and that it is a bloody medical marvel. However I also couldn’t care less about the judgey twatbags who have a problem with it and am completely comfortable calling them out on any bullshit. I feel well enough informed about the pros and cons, the science behind why it works and how it has made this journey possible for me. I have been reliably informed that the ability for everyone to see exactly what I think about them and their opinion by the look on my face means that they are unlikely to push their opinion beyond what I think is acceptable. So far that’s been right.

RobinEllacotStrike · 27/03/2025 14:29

I have the same attitude as you @InfoSecInTheCity

I'll talk to anyone about anything - and have no problem deflecting any judgemental bullshit and sharing my opinion.

alltablenochairs · 27/03/2025 15:30

I'm not Scottish but I do live in Scotland. My kids sound VERY Scottish though, especially my teen when she's with her friends. We moved here 8 years ago. Sometimes when it's raining alllllllllllll the time I do question why I chose to move.

As for telling people, I dont. As a 'plus size' wheelchair user I already get enough people judging me and/or thinking that I'm going to be telling them why I use a wheelchair. Let alone the comments I already get about how using a wheelchair is just lazy, comments referencing benefit scrounging and existing off the welfare state (I actually work!). People who know me well enough get told that I had an almighty wake up call after being critically ill last year (this is true-ish as I was unwell). People who don't need to know get told its my private medical information and anyone being persistent gets told to stop being so damn rude.

Orangesandlemons77 · 27/03/2025 16:34

I'm originally Scottish but living in England, still sound Scottish though but the DCs sound English.

My appetite and craving seem to be really coming back even on a higher dose unfortunately. Has anyone else found the same? It feels like I have just got used to it. Also perimenopausal which might be adding to it.

alltablenochairs · 27/03/2025 17:15

Yes I have found my appetite returning as well. I'm on 12.5 and it wouldnt surprisr me if I was perimenopausalas well. The difference is this time round I can deal with it. Pre MJ I would have acted on the cravings.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 27/03/2025 17:31

@WafflingDreamer- amazing results. My starting weight very close to yours and loosing 4 stone, well that would take me to pre-pregnancy weight 14 years ago which I would love. It’s sad to me that my DC have only known me big. I was athletic many years ago.Pre-Lock down weight near now, nearly 3 stone on in 5 years. I notice them (DC) hugging me and seeing if they can get their hands to nearly touch around my waist, though they haven’t said anything yet, they are noticing 2stone loss in our cuddles.
Desperate to actually get under 100Kg long term. 21 KG to go!

@InfoSecInTheCity @RobinEllacotStrike@MooBaggage I wish I could be brave and not care as much to just tell people. I just feel so much shame about my weight and wish I didn’t care what people think, but I do.
I was at a nurse appointment reviewing my moles. I said I’d lost weight, she said well done and then asked if I was doing it with medication. Knee jerk reaction I lied and said no 🫣, she went on to say that some weight loss drugs can affect moles but I haven’t heard this before. Have any of you?
Cynical me thinks she was just be nosey but maybe she wasn’t.

@Iwanttoputmytreeup I think you should guilt free say what you like, even if it’s a lie. I agree there shouldn’t be shame/guilt for this medical marvel but I just don’t feel strong enough to deal with responses so pick my battles.

InfoSecInTheCity · 27/03/2025 17:44

@ReginaphalangeeeeeI’ve found most nurses I’ve spoken to are excited and fascinated. When I went to get some bloods done a couple of months ago, the nurse greeted me with ‘oh you’re the lady on Mounjaro, I was just talking about you with one of the other nurses, what’s it like, is it working, how does it feel, is it good?” . She was really interested and impressed with how the food noise effects worked and how much I’d lost. Nothing negative at all.

What does a day of food look like for you?

Are you getting much protein and water?

Reginaphalangeeeee · 27/03/2025 18:16

@InfoSecInTheCity yes I am sure she would have been lovely. It’s not her, it’s me, my worry about judgement, my guilt, my knee jerk reaction to lie and then felt weird I couldn’t say the truth as now interested which WL drugs affect moles.
I had skin cancer a few years ago so get checked regularly.

roughtyping · 27/03/2025 19:51

Hello! Haven’t posted much, I posted on a previous thread but can’t actually remember whether it was before or after I started.

I’ve just ordered my 4th 2.5mg pen. I don’t see the point in moving up as my calories are as low as I think is sensible to go and I’m still losing weight - worried I’m doing the wrong thing and it would be flying off if I moved up but also petrified of making myself ill. Have been really lucky with no side effects really.

have lost 22 pounds since the middle of January 😊 just over 10% of my body weight

dimples76 · 27/03/2025 19:53

I have only been taking mounjaro for a couple of months but have been very open about it. I have not experienced any negative reactions, most people have just been curious or want to know if it would work for them. It does mean that I have acquired a few discount codes so have not paid full price yet!

Although I do feel ashamed of my size and don't feel any shame/guilt about the jabs.

I am really loving seeing the change to my upper arms at the moment from.the weight training and weight loss (if I ignore the bingo wings) they look so much more toned. Incidentally I just Googled what is an alternative to bingo wings and the options that came up seemed even worse- 'dinner lady arm' wtf!
