I am definitely not going to turn into a runner/gym bunny @GnomeDePlume 🤣

Im going to wear all my existing clothes through summer, I like an oversized look so a little more oversized will be fine. I went out at the weekend and my Seasalt linen dress was definitely roomier, so I measured myself yesterday and my bust is still 3” off dropping down a size 🙄. Once my bust has dropped below 50” I’m going to treat myself to a summer dress but I’m sure the rest of my wardrobe will be fine until Autumn. I can’t see my style changing, just looking forward to having greater choices of where I shop.

@GnomeDePlume i like that phrase - the ill fitting stage of weight loss - I’m struggling a bit as I don’t really know what suits me now or what size I am. Stores and their sizing are rubbish, I wish it was just a standard measurement, I mean who on earth thought up the 22/24 then the next 26/28 - translates as snug or huge on me!

Music is a big thing for me, I have always used it to celebrate/commiserate/comfort myself, but the ‘old’ me would also turn to food. I think it was also habitual, I used food as a child/teenager to block things and that carried through to adulthood and almost became normal, I self medicated with calorific food, now I’m not doing that I sometimes feel exposed - does that make sense?

I’ll never fix younger me, I have a small family that loves me at every size but I will always mourn that young girl who was worth so much more than she thought or was made to think. I’ve cut all ties with those people but those feelings will always be there and I have to accept that I can’t change anything.
I need to work on self worth but not sure how to….
love to all!

I felt every word you said about the younger you. I also feel the same and was always the biggest of the friends, teased at school, had to get my uniform tailored because I couldn't just buy it from the shop. My confidence had such a knock that I'm only just now discovering how powerful and special I am, in my mid-30s! I don't even know what my full personality is because I bend and change depending on who I'm speaking to, to appease them and feel included.
I just want to go back to that school girl and give her a big hug to say it's going to be okay!

I'd recommend some 'self-help' podcasts/youtube videos to help the change in mindset. There are many people who feel like us, and have broken out of it and have become unapologetically them. And I want that to be us!

Doggymummar · 27/03/2025 11:46

With regards to clothes I am between sizes now, so I'm grateful the look is oversized and baggy ATM. I am looking to buy an obi belt to go round my linen summer dresses in a few weeks when they come out the loft. I don't think I can do much with the trousers as if you drawstring them too much it looks like you have a nappy on, but safety pins at the sides might be ok with a long top or unfastened dress over. I have bought a lot from Vinted and whatnot and they are listed for sale again this weekend as I've slimmed through them already. Wish I was a seamstress

TragicMuse · 27/03/2025 12:49

Do you have space for a sewing machine @Doggymummar because if you have then some simple alterations are completely within your grasp!

I have often bought old jeans to turn into cut-downs and then would run a seam up each side to improve the fit! Similar principle would apply to linen trousers. It’s the work of a moment!

Thank you all for such positive feedback on my steel will! I did feel better for not eating my feelings.

And thanks Gnome for that pattern - it’s lovely! Very much my vibe! I’m totally in love with the vest top maxi dresses and I think I am going to make one. I’ve got the fabric I’d use for the skirt piece and I might just use an existing navy vest top or buy a new one. Or buy some jersey to make it. But buying a new vest would do the job more quickly and cheaply!!

MOVING UP DOSES

Hi, hoping to get others perspectives on when to increase doses. I'll be doing my 7th jab tonight, still have about 12st to lose. I moved up to 5mg after 4 weeks - ideally I'd stay on it for at least another month as otherwise I'm worried that I'll get up to the max dose too quickly and will have to be on it, with no option to increase if it starts to feel less effective, as I know it's going to take 12 months+ to get to a healthy weight.
My issues is that I don't feel like 5mg is working too well - food noise has crept in this last week, I've been ravenous at times, more snacking etc.
Interested to hear what others who have a lot to lose and are further on have done in terms of how long you've been on each dose? TIA

SilenceInside · 27/03/2025 13:08

@UsernameShmusername2024 I did the 4 weeks on 2.5mg, then 4 weeks on the 5mg and had variable suppression and then some D&V side effects. I had ordered a 7.5mg pen but was concerned about going straight to 7.5mg after the side effects. So I did two doses of 5mg from the 7.5mg pen, then did 6.25mg before doing the 4th injection from that pen as the full 7.5mg. I have been on 7.5mg ever since then, which is now 27 weeks, so the large majority of 37 weeks I'v been taking Mounjaro.

I will stay on 7.5mg as long as I am losing weight and everything is ticking along nicely.

Thanks @SilenceInside that's really helpful to hear. I guess I can always get a 7.5mg pen next and then I've got the flexibility to stay on a lower dose and move up gradually, though maybe I don't need to worry about getting to 15mg too quickly - good to hear 7 5mg has worked well for so long for you 😀

GnomeDePlume · 27/03/2025 13:20

@UsernameShmusername2024 I went up through the doses to 10mg in 4 week stages. This was encouraged by my diabetes nurse. I'm in the middle of my second 10mg pen with no drop off in suppression.

Obviously, I am diabetic so that may be making a difference, I don't know.

My feel would be that if you aren't getting the suppression you need then it may be worth looking at moving up a dose. But I am not a doctor!

GnomeDePlume · 27/03/2025 13:28

@Doggymummar while I agree with @TragicMuse about doing alterations (they can be very straightforward) be warned, if you get into sewing it can be quite addictive!

DD also says she is now spoiled for high street fashion, she has got used to having clothes which fit her rather than a size average.

I already have a side hustle charity shopping and selling Preloved on Vinted and eBay with all the fixings up that comes with that and I keep far too much stuff for myself I'm not sure I can afford another hobby, time wise and financially I'll have a look tho when the stuff comes down from the loft. My sil is brilliant at alterations she might be persuaded. I giver her all my rags and things that dint sell for a quid and she alters them into peg bags dog coats quilts etc

Iwouldratherbesinging · 27/03/2025 17:41

I wish I could master a sewing machine! I tried years ago and struggled so much that I gave up, I’m pretty nifty with sewing by hand though, and a whizz with wonder web (does that count?) 😂

I’m trying to do two months at each pen, as I know I’m on it for longer too. I did 4x2.25, 2x3.75, 6x5 and I have a 7.5 new pen for my next injection. I like that I have the option to do 5 or 7.5 from it and I’m waiting to see if I’ve lost weight before deciding.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 27/03/2025 18:02

@UsernameShmusername2024 I moved up the doses, I tried two months on 7.5 mg but felt so hungry by week 6 I took 9mg for 2 doses out of the 7.5mg pen. I had two 10mg pens then moved up to 12.5mg, I have one 12.5mg shot left and a 15mg pen waiting in the fridge. So I moved up pretty quickly, when I first started it was all about moving up every 4 weeks.

I think I was more worried about not feeling full, that and having to decide on the dose in advance. I’m hoping that the 15mg will see me through the next 5/6 stone off. I may consider taking 7.5mg twice a week if I start to struggle, but if I remember correctly the study showed that people where still losing steadily after 40 weeks on 15mg. I’m ever hopeful!

I did one month on 2.5, one on 5 and I’m about to start my second 7.5 now. Still getting really strong suppression and losing fairly quickly so don’t feel any need to move up again yet.

I’ve hit a bit of a milestone today - 4 stone lost! I’m still over 20 stone but really looking forward to moving down into the teens soon! 🤞

HelpMebeok · 27/03/2025 19:32

I stayed on 2.5 for 8 weeks then just moved up to 5mg. To be honest 5 doesn't feel any stronger suppression /food noise reduction. The only thing I've had different is diarrhoea and sulphur burps returning but these have been manageable.

UsernameShmusername2024 · 27/03/2025 20:43

Well done @mummyinthenecropolis - fantastic milestone! You'll be moving down the teens in no time 😃
Thanks everyone for your responses - amazing how differently everyone responds to it! After questioning it today and pretty much deciding on 7.5mg next, I've felt really full from a couple of eggs on toast all afternoon and struggled to eat a chicken salad this evening! Think I'll order 7.5mg but take 5mg - think that would be 40 clicks instead of the usual 60 but ill find a clicks chart.

TragicMuse · 27/03/2025 21:06

I’ve done 4 weeks on 2.5mg and am going to start 5mg this week. I’m still thinking about bringing my jab day forward to Friday. No sure really.

My weigh in today and I'm a "teeny"!!!! I'm 19st 12 and I'm over the moon 😊😊.

Amazing hearing everyone else's milestones. It's really inspiring when you have a lot to lose to hear of those further ahead in the game. I'm a pound off 2 stone loss and I think I'm starting to "see" it but it isn't visible yet. I think it could easily be another 2 stone before it is.... But it now seems possible or achievable. Hope is an amazing feeling 😍

Re doses - I'm about to go onto my 3rd pen of 5mg. Something that helped me when I started was seeing people's charts and that for some people there there could be several weeks where it doesn't look like there's much happening and it drops. I seem to be like that. I've attached my shotsy - youll see that twice I've had 3 weeks where weight loss looks minimal but actual it jumps the following week. I could easily have thought I needed to go up but for me I'm glad I've stayed on 5mg as I'm following the "lowest effective dose" in order to leave room to go up. I do know that ideas around this seem to have changed though and had initially thought you were "supposed" to go up each month. I think it will take me about 18months to lose...

Ending March with a loss of 8lb, happy enough with that. Goal for April is to get into the “19st something”. Well done on achieving that @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden have you measured yourself again? My tape measure actually goes around my widest point with 2” spare 🎉 Like you I’m going to stick to 5mg, although I have a 7.5 pen, so will do 40 clicks to get that.

-5, -1, -2, -3, -2, -2, -2, +1, -5, 0, -1, -2
(-24lb)

4x2.5mg
2x3.75mg
6x5mg

BMI: 53, 50.6, 49.9, 49.2, 48.7

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 28/03/2025 08:41

I have been measuring start of each new pen ( so will do next week) but I had a renpho tape and I think I've been using it wrong 😳. Will double check with a real tape this time!!

If it helps, I was on Ryselbus for 18 months and started MJ in September last year, going up the doses every four weeks as advised by the pharmacist. I am on my second 15mg pen now. I find I still get hungry at meal times and the suppression lasts about 5 days, I don't feel it's any different to the other doses really. Obviously I don't know if I could have saved a bit of money and remained on a lower dose and how I would have felt but I just followed the advice given. Try it and see, they seem to be more flexible now about letting people choose rather than foisting doses on us from what I read. Sorry that was for the original person that asked.

GnomeDePlume · 28/03/2025 10:25

I tend to weigh myself in kg rather than pounds and stones as I find it less emotive.

Anyway, I converted to pounds and stones just out of interest. I started at 21 stone 8 pounds, I am now at 18 stone 8 pounds after 18 weeks, averaging a bit over 2 pounds per week.

If I can keep this sort of loss going, at 2 pounds per week I will be at or around my goal weight of 9 stone 7 pounds in time to go on holiday next summer.

That is mind blowing!

I have never been a healthy weight. I have another 9 stone to lose but it feels achievable.

SilenceInside · 28/03/2025 11:37

Week 38 weigh in for me.

SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 91.6kg (14st 6 lbs), was 92.4kg (14st 5.5 lbs) last week
GW: 90kg (14st 2 lbs) fourth interim goal.
Current pen: 7.5mg, 28 weeks on this dosage.

A 0.2kg "gain", which I will take as essentially staying the same. It's frustrating to have not lost anything this week. But, it's a motivator to try to revamp/refresh my approach, as I think I have definitely been less focussed recently. It's been a long time since I started, and I have felt a bit like I've run out of steam in recent weeks!
