I’ve lost a small dog. Has anyone seen it? Next goal for this week: goodbye Kenwood stand mixer! 😂

I forgot to post on Sunday which is my day 1/weigh in day.
I was chatting with the diabetic specialist nurse at work today and realised I have not primed my pen other than the first time - apparently should be done each time 🙈
so have slightly shorted myself on doses week 2 and 3.
currently w3d3
start weight 13st 6.5
current weight 12st 12
Goal weight 9st ish
loss so far 8.5lbs in 2 weeks

fairly pleased with weight loss, not as big as some, not as slow as others.
hoping to keep on losing steadily whilst being healthy. I have reordered the 2.5mg pen as I’m going to keep as low as possible for as long as possible - also calorie counting to get myself in the habit for post mounjaro.

Anyone watching the dispatches programme on channel 4?

@Sarahyorks I've just put it on! Thanks for heads up.

Sarahyorks · 04/03/2025 20:45

It seems to be more about exposing those that are taking advantage of people like 'us' who are desperate to lose weight....Nurses prescribing from home Chemist's clearly prescribing it to people who arent obese or fit into any of the criteria. Yet no hospital prescribes it and think of money it would save NHS in long term.

sc0ttishlass · 04/03/2025 21:02

Yes that's my take on it so far. Boots gave to a 16 year old without checking age..only annoying thing so far is the comments about people wanting it as a fix to get beach ready. I'm sure that is one user group but I'm certainly not! I wish I just had to lose a few lb annually to get bikini ready :)

Me too, iv 3 stones to lose, no under lying health problems but if I carried on at this size, then who knows. Iv always exercised but really struggled with my weight. I read all side effects, thought id get them all, and still chose to buy it. The only way they would stop 'dodgy dealing ' is to make it so no one makes a profit out of it .

Hi guys

Quick question about dosing, after reading quite a few negative comments here about moving up to 5mg...!
I'm in my 4th week now, so Friday is my injection day / 5th injection. I've ordered my 5mg pen which is already in the fridge. Is it advisable to start off with 3.75 though (counting clicks) to avoid side effects?

When I started, I did have nausea the first weeks, sometimes so bad I thought I needed to vomit, although I never did. Would rather avoid feeling like that again!
Or do you reckon it makes no odds and just move up to 5 straight away?

TheYouYouAre · 04/03/2025 23:36

I’m about the start week 3. Have lost 6.5lbs in 2 weeks, so have decided to stick with the 2.5mg for my next order.

Been ordering through Farmeci (via Monj.co.uk comparison site), they price matched for my second order. Will probably jump to IQ Doctor if I go up to 5mg as they have good discounts for new and existing customers.

For those experiencing a week 3 plateau and increase in hunger, I think that’s quite typical for any diet / weight loss so don’t let it demotivate you!

Febnewbie · 05/03/2025 07:00

I am definitely starting to get discouraged now.

This morning, I weighed in at back at my starting weight.

I have had pretty good appetite suppression throughout, I have eaten pretty healthy and lightly (one or two blips!), drunk much less alcohol.

Yesterday for example - I did 45 mins of strength training, 8000 steps, ate a bowl of vegetable soup, a banana and a portion of aubergine and feta casserole.

The only thing I can think to do is to eat even less, like do a couple of 24 fasts during the week?

Oh i am nly did initial prime too and not each time

Zibb · 05/03/2025 07:12

Don't be discouraged! Weight loss isn't linear. If you have upped your exercise, especially lifting weights, you're unlikely to see a consistent drop straight away. A combination of water retention and your body adjusting.

If you know that you are in a calorie deficit then the weight will come off.

Take measurements of your body because you will have lost cm even if the scales aren't going down.

It's not for everyone but weighing every day and getting an average weight for the week is so helpful for me. Even if my weight goes up and down every day it's easy to see it is actually going down overall. If I only weighed every Friday then it would look like I haven't lost anything in over a week.

Is it worth asking your provider? They are meant to advise. And I think they should, with all the money they are getting!

The sad thing is that I am doing the daily weigh and average thing, it just isn't actually showing a drop.

Just watched this. The non official prescribing by nurses in particular was a shocker. I guess it’s like Botox though - no questions asked, no fucks given.

I fully agreed with programme’s point that aftercare and monitoring is really important, just not with the idea that a GP is any position to provide this. GP’s are not providing proper care now, and certainly wouldn’t be able to should the NHS start prescribing the drugs to even a fraction of those who qualify.

Zibb · 05/03/2025 07:24

I still wouldn't be discouraged because it's such early days! Although I know that's easier said than done.

Double check your BMR/TDEE and recalculate if necessary.

Have you taken measurements? I highly recommend it!

Just keep going, it's only the beginning.

hilbil21 · 05/03/2025 07:28

Morning - have done my first weigh in this morning. I'm under no illusions it's a one off as I had been eating absolute rubbish for days, had flown two days previously, and it was the first day of my period when I first started. But I've lost 8.2lbs. I will be happy with 1-2lbs a week from now on, fingers crossed.

I was prescribed it due to lipodema so a lower BMI than some but I can't deny how good it is with cravings etc.

Love this! Well said, Zibb.

Also i am a big fan of weighing food where possible rather than measuring because 1/2 tbsp of peanut butter can really vary in weight.

Weigh day update!

SW: 13st 3lb
CW: 12st 5.2lb
TW: 11st ish

W2: 12st 10.8lb -6.2lb
W3: 12st 8.6lb -2.2lb
W4: 12st 6.4lb -2.2lb
W5: 12st 5.2lb -1.2lb

So the total lost on the 2.5mg pen is 11.8lb which I'm very happy with. 5mg started today!

OntheTrainX · 05/03/2025 08:06

Week three weigh in. Total 12lbs off. Very pleased. However, suppression isn’t great any more so I look forward to going up to 5mg next week.

hennybeans · 05/03/2025 08:23

Wondering how everyone got on with pancake day?
I have 3 dc so it's a definite event in my house and the first time since starting mj three weeks ago that I've had any significant sugar.

I had two pancakes with fruit and a bit of Nutella. I was quite full and stopped after that and felt happy because normally I would have had twice as much. Felt ok, but then woke up at 5 am feeling like I needed to be sick. I managed to avoid it, but only just. All I've had this morning is a glass of ice water. Can't even face a cup of tea. Pancakes were probably not worth it.

xnotthemammax · 05/03/2025 08:29

Tiny gain of 0.2lb after 4 weeks.
Total loss 10lb so not unhappy, but not happy either if you get what I mean!!!
Hey ho, not giving up!
On to the 5mg jab Friday.

sc0ttishlass · 05/03/2025 09:09

Odd question. Does anyone feel like they can taste the mounjaro as soon as they inject? Or maybe I'm going mad :)

OvertiredandConfused · 01/03/2025 16:23

First day of 5mg today!

I think I’ve lost 1st 2lbs in my first four weeks. My scales have become unreliable - so I have a new, fancy, Which recommended, set on order and due tomorrow.

Prefer to jab on a Sunday but I brought it forward last week so my first 5mg would be Saturday morning this week, just in case I have side effects. I’ll be back to Sunday next week, so an extra day ro manage.

SW 21st 5lbs
CW 20st 3lbs
TW no idea yet

Really pleased with my progress, but slightly despondent at how big I’ve allowed Myself to get and how long this is going to take for anyone, including me to notice the loss anywhere other than the scales.

Would you mind sharing the scales you have ordered?
