I’ve lost a small dog. Has anyone seen it? Next goal for this week: goodbye Kenwood stand mixer! 😂

Thank you @Ke11 and @Herefordian. I know you're right, but I feel incredible shame about the T2 diagnosis. I think because it's so tied in with cultural assumptions about weight, letting yourself go etc.

If I told people I was taking MJ without explaining about the Diabetes they wouldn't understand as, although I'm overweight, I'm not obese. My BMI is currently 25.3 but even back when I started on MJ it was "only" about 27.

OntheTrainX · 17/03/2025 13:00

It’s easy for me to skirt the topic because I lost 11 lbs with intermittent fasting in 2023 and kept it off. So I’ll just say I’ve started again. I’ve always played golf and gone to the gym so there’s that, too - I’ll just imply that I’m lifting heavier weights or playing more holes or whatever.

I feel zero shame but I have some friends and colleagues who are against WLI for various reasons and frankly I CBA debating the matter.

MynameisJune · 17/03/2025 13:01

I’ve been shopping today, only had one pair of jeans that fit and I’m wearing them to death.

All the smaller sizes I picked up have fit. And I haven’t looked in the mirror and hated myself. I just walked out of M&S and said to myself ‘I’m having so much fun’

That more than anything, is worth every penny for MJ.

Lola50 · 17/03/2025 16:20

@AnnaQuayInTheUk Far from shame, you should try to feel proud that you are taking positive steps for your health. It is a big deal. The naysayers aren’t worth the time anyway

Hangryfastjo · 17/03/2025 16:20

Just took my first 5mg. The food noise has been much more present since my bonus dose. It's been very much the head says eat everything in sight, the stomach was saying no way. It felt quite strange, not the usual food battle I've had.
Fingers crossed for good things 🤞🏻

Chrestomanciscat · 17/03/2025 16:24

Week 6 day 1 - 2nd dose of 5mg.
I went with 5mg again this week even though last week was rough. Fingers crossed.
Weigh in at 14 stone 1 and 3 ounces so 4 pounds down from last week.
Good luck this week everyone. 💪🌟

Fairyflaps · 17/03/2025 16:43

@AnnaQuayInTheUk I know what you mean about the T2 diabetes shame. I felt that when I was first diagnosed, like it was my fault for being 'fat', not looking after myself. But I just started being really open about it and was amazed by how prevalent it was.

I've not told people about taking mounjaro but I would if it came up in conversation. It has been more effective than the metformin at getting my blood sugar levels down. I was on max metformin dose, but even when eating carefully, I was still being woken up in the small hours with my blood sugars spiking. The mounjaro sorted that out in the first week and it's lovely to get a proper night's sleep.

Evening lovelies. Is anyone else getting a bit fed up with drinking a gazillion gallons of water and peeing like a racehorse every day?!

Feb2025start · 17/03/2025 18:48

Hi all! A couple of days late reporting my weigh in stats -
SW - 79.8kg
CW (wk 7, day 1) - 66kg
TW - 60ish kg

My weight loss has slowed significantly after the initial water weight loss, still losing about 0.5-1.5 kg a week. I'm also exercising loads so am focused more on body shape/feel than what the scales say - tbh my initial aim was 65kg which I haven't been since my early 20s so being close to that and to being in a 'healthy' BMI is amazing!

Couple of NSVs - I popped my H's hoodie (men's XXL) on yesterday over a sports bra and vest to nip to the shops. Felt really chilly on the way there and wasn't sure why when I realised - H's hoodie was so baggy on me it was kind of flapping around my waist and letting the breeze in rather than sitting snuggly on my belly as usual!

Second NSV - I have actually waist line DEFINITION! Not a six pack by a long shot, and still have a belly but you can definitely see my ribs a bit, my waist clearly goes in and I have defined lines down the sides of my ribcage and stomach. I have always been a complete pear shape, quite heavy around the bum and thighs but with a slimmish torso and decently flat stomach which I was OK with. I decided to finally try MJ when I realised quite how much I was now an apple, with a bloated, bulging stomach, no waist and saddlebags 😅 I'm so happy to be getting close to being a pear again!!

Hope everyone else is having a good week ☺️

Oh yes.

I have really slacked off the water the last couple of days because of this

ReverseFerret · 17/03/2025 19:09

Just done my first 5mg shot... was a little apprehensive! Hoping to experience some better results as I had very little suppression on the 2.5mg. Time will tell! 😬😬😬

SpiralSister · 17/03/2025 19:18

How are we getting on with meals? I tried to be a bit canny tonight, made a cauliflower rice ‘risotto’ with leftover chicken, lovely home made stock from the bones, and the ‘rice’.

God, the vileness! 😂 picked out the chicken and ate some grapes instead. Winner!

Why not just have regular rice (well, brown at least). Pretty much all of my dinners are around the 4-500 calorie mark, and I always have brown rice, or quinoa. I weigh out a 55g portion (dry weight) and this is plenty. I also have GF pasta dishes

Oh, I would, gladly, and not worry about it. I had a cauli to use up from the veg box though, so tried to be clever.

Never. Again.

Ah fair enough. I made a lovely sweet potato, cauliflower and spinach dhal last week that I froze in single portions for lunches. Only 207 calories per portion and really nice

Sounds lovely! My favourite thing at the moment is to roast a big tray of veg (bit of oil, herbs, garlic), and boil some pearled spelt (really delicious), and combine. Handful of walnuts or mixed toasted seeds on top. Leaves on the side.

Lasts for lots of meals and I don’t get bored with it!

That sounds really nice too, although I would sub quinoa as I'm GF. I am really into nuts and seeds at the moment. The thought of eating a brownie makes me feel so sick. I am still amazed how MJ works on our tastes and preferences. Luckily I can still cope with a bit of spice in my meals

Mounjaroday · 17/03/2025 20:23

Cauliflower is delicious. Cauliflower rice, however, is the devils work!

Oh I was abou to say I love cauliflower rice but actually it's more like 'I eat loads of cauliflower rice out of necessity' 😅. Work away 3 days a week, staying in a hotel and working on a business estate with no shops etc so it's either eat from the canteen (exclusively fatty stodge, pies, lasagne, pizza, chips etc) or bring something from home to heat up (which cos I'm in a hotel with no food making facilities/fridge is quite limiting). I've started bringing in a pack of microwave cauliflower rice plus a pack of ready made lentil bolognese from Lidl with some parmesan to heat up in the microwave every day. Not exactly inspiring 🤢 but does the job and is high protein/low calorie!

I think when I finish my current job I'll actually never be able to look at cauli rice again for as long as I live 🤣

LollyWillow · 17/03/2025 21:34

@Herefordianit sounds as though we are facing the same challenges. I have a big wedding coming up in the early summer and, if asked, I'll say that I am loosing weight for that. I'm not planning on telling anybody about MJ.
I have always been a fairly heavy drinker, and now I have absolutely no interest in alcohol at all and I couldn't be happier. When I'm questioned about this I say that I did dry January (which is true) and found that I enjoyed being alcohol free so much that I saw no reason to go back to drinking. So far people are accepting this.
I have just come back from a holiday with my Mum and we were having wine with dinner and sometimes at lunchtime, but I was sticking to white wine and a small glass at a time. I found it very easy to stop and, tbh, if I hadn't been with Mum I don't think I'd have bothered.
The hen night is coming up soon but, after my holiday experience, I think it'll be OK and I'm planning on very dilute spritzers to see me through.

How do you know when to move on to the next dose. Am currently on 2.5.

PandaPeacock · 17/03/2025 21:59

How do you know when to move on to the next dose. Am currently on 2.5.

I have ordered a 5mg for my next pen. I can take a half dose if I feel like the current dose is still working or move up if I feel ready. I guess if I feel the current dose isn't working because I feel hungry all the time or have lots of food noise, then it will be time to move up.

I have mixed feelings today as I have felt as though I have been hungry a lot the past few days, but actually easily stayed within calories, and have no desire to eat unhealthy food. It's TOTM, plus I did a lot of extra exercise this weekend and ended up with DOMS, so I think at present I am seeing it as not needing to move up quite yet, the hunger is just me needing some extra calories, which is absolutely fine in the context. I need to time increases carefully as well, as I am going on holiday and don't want to risk getting side effects when away, so that will impact when I decide to move up.

Mounjaroday · 17/03/2025 22:22

Jab day tomorrow, so minimal suppression this evening. Half a bottle of wine was winking at me in the fridge and I’ve had a mad day … but managed to resist. Feel I have put on weight just thinking about a glass!
