Hello wonderful people!

Looking forward to hearing how we’re all getting on with your Mounjaro journey, and the general good chat!

CW 94.8kg

I’ve lost a small dog. Has anyone seen it? Next goal for this week: goodbye Kenwood stand mixer! 😂

I started at the end of Jan
SW 98.7 kg
CW 87.5 kg

Anyway... obviously I'm thrilled with

  • the weight loss
  • no food noise
  • I can put on socks and shoes easier
  • my blood pressure has gone down
  • feel a sense of freedom
  • fit into clothes comfortably that have been too tight for years and need to consider buying smaller clothes now (can't wear my jeans without a belt now)

However, I feel a bit deflated as I was turned away from donating blood this week as my iron levels are too low.
I don't calorie count, I basically just eat what I usually eat, but just less and I basically stopped eating/drinking all the rubbish (mainly chocolate and Coca Cola) and I would say I have a healthy diet (lots of vegetables, salmon, chicken, eggs, berries, Greek yoghurt, avocados, dark rye bread).
Now I worry that I'm really messing up and not getting enough in terms of balanced nutrition.

Also, I realised this week how much I miss the food enjoyment. I am definitely a comfort eater and even though that comfort eating caused my weight gain, and I KNOW that is unhealthy - I really miss it this week. Crazy!

ExplodingCarrots · 15/03/2025 08:54

Well done everyone on your losses this week !

Just an update on my medexpress order . I placed the order Wednesday and even though it said it won't be delivered until Monday I received it yesterday (Friday) . So anyone reordering , don't worry.

Weigh In No. 3 on 2.5mg: -2lbs - YAY!

SW: 16st 2lbs
CW: 15st 7lbs
GW: 12st

I kid you not - this is the lightest I've been since I had my daughter - 15 years ago!! My body has been STUCK around 16 stones for all that time and Mounjaro has worked it's ever-lovin' magic to help me break free of that. I could not be happier.

A quick run down of my experiences to date in case of help to anyone:

  • Week 1: immediately woozy feeling but slept it off, bit of a headache the next day but immediate suppression for next 4-5 days - struggled to eat up to 1000 cals. (4lbs off)
  • Week 2: did I dream jabbing myself?! absolutely no side effects, felt completely normal, hungry often although when I did eat I got full quickly, Main positive was still ZERO desire for any junk food - kept eating clean and cals around 1300-1400 most days. (2lbs off)
  • Week 3: again absolutely no bad effects and peckish/hunger around every meal time but no 'crashes' or desperation to eat - I felt like I had plenty time to chose and make something nutritious which is something I've never experienced before! (2lbs off)

What has Mounjaro done for me so far?

  • good steady losses so far
  • not a single bad side effect
  • given me time to chose healthy food and not grab junk
  • removed cravings for crap
  • helped me be sugar-free
  • helped me eat clean
  • removed desire for carbs (except 1-2 days pre-period!)
  • given me a sense of CONTROL

Long may this last. I have 1 more dose of 2.5mg to take tonight - then I have the 5mg in my fridge (MedExpress were super quick btw) and will decide next week whether to just extract 2.5mg or move up to 3.25mg as a step up dose.

I spent 5 months - no exaggeration - researching, consulting doctors (including a preventative medicine consultant) at great expense privately, reading the research papers and following other peoples' experiences online before I finally worked up the nerve to try it. I am so glad I did.

For anyone reading this with hesitations, I would say - do your homework, speak to at least 2 doctors, but most of all; focus on changing what you eat. If you're prepared to ditch super-processed foods, learn to cook a few new dishes, chop up that veg (!) and tank your water every day - Mounjaro will do the rest and you will do well.

LollyWillow · 15/03/2025 09:33

I understand exactly what you mean @viktoria. I am a comfort eater and have felt sad about losing that comfort. But I have told myself that this stage, the losing weight stage, won't be forever and I will be able to enjoy occasional treats in the future. It's just that they will be occasional, not three times a day ...
For now, I try to sit down for half an hour mid afternoon with a cup of tea and a book and tell myself that a piece of cake wouldn't improve the moment. My mantra is that food isn't the only thing that brings comfort. The fire, the sofa, the book, the cat - they all work too.

Is anyone else thinking of treating themselves with something fabulous (other than a new wardrobe!) when they reach goal?

I’m dreaming of a lovely big flashy ring!

Err picture please! We simply must see the ring you have in mind, spiral!

Short hair! I used always have chin-length hair but the fatter I got the fatter my face got and my chin disappeared into other chins and I hated the way it looked with short hair, so I've been keeping it longer. If I ever get to 12 stone I will be chopping the hair.

Love this! You will get there!

WLINewbie · 15/03/2025 10:55

I'm not one usually one for 'things' and prefer my money to go on holidays/experiences BUT I've decided I'd quite like a gucci disco bag when I get to a certain look.

Mounjaronewbie25 · 15/03/2025 11:33

Morning all! Checking in, finished my first 2.5mg pen last week and took my first 5mg dose this morning.

Results after 4 weeks on Mounjaro:

Mounjaro SW on 15.3.25 - 14st 12
CW - 13st 12

Loss this week: 2.5 lbs
Total loss: 14 lbs

Delighted with 1 stone off in my first 4 weeks, I feel so much better already. I can’t believe how much my belly has flattened, it’s usually such a stubborn area for me, and might sound weird but I feel taller when walking around?! Must be improved posture now I’m not hunching forward so much with the weight?

Well done! I am 5 days behind you and at 11 pounds lost so far. Hoping to get to a stone too. It's so exciting

LionME · 15/03/2025 11:47

I’ve done first 5mg injection this week. Feeling a bit more effect from it. The 2.5mg did nothing and weight has not bulge for the whole month.

so🤞🤞

Febnewbie · 15/03/2025 12:07

I am thinking about having a reward for each stone lost - I have 3 to lose.

First one - a really good haircut which is long overdue
Second - a pedicure for the summer
Third a make up lesson

Mounjaronewbie25 · 15/03/2025 12:19

@Febnewbie that’s a good idea, I’ll have to have a think, I’m so used to rewarding myself with food. Will have to think of something else now.

Mounjaronewbie25 · 15/03/2025 12:20

@fortyfix I expect it to slow down now. But 1 stone has been a nice boost!

I am thinking that rewards to do with physical appearance would be good for me because I have put very little effort into my appearance the last few years because I keep thinking what's the point, too fat

Warmautumnbreeze · 15/03/2025 13:04

Anyone else feel sick from the smell of greasy food since you've been on MJ?

I did chicken burgers and onions rings for my kids for dinner last night, just oven cooked ones, but they let out a lot of grease during cooking and as I was dishing up I thought I really could not be paid to eat this right now 🤢

WoolerOwl · 15/03/2025 13:47

I am back from my week's holiday, and have just taken my third 2.5 dose. I did well on holiday. Had a high protein, low carb breakfast from the all inclusive buffet - cheesy vegetable omelette, for example, plus fresh tomatoes, and fruit salad. Occasionally porridge with fruit salad and a small wholemeal role and butter and cheese/cold meat. Then fruit and cereal bar for lunch. Spent lots of time swimming and walking. Had two massages. Feel so much better. I kept going with that pattern even for the last two days when I was due the next shot. Clothes definitely looser and face less puffy. Joints less sore.

My real revelation was when I put my suitcase on the scales for the return flight a the airport. It was heavy to lift onto the conveyor belt. 13kg, said the display. I need to lose twice that!! Imagine: at the moment, being overweight is like lugging two medium suitcases around all the time. No wonder I feel tired! I am going to keep that image in my head as I continue.

Thank you all for your stories and encouragement. I keep reading as a way of staying focussed.

viktoria · 15/03/2025 14:07

Has anybody else had issues with low iron? What are you eating to make sure you have enough iron? Or do you take supplements - and if yes, do you have any recommendations?

Ke11 · 15/03/2025 14:50

Week 6 I think, starting week 7. Just done dose 3 of 5mg and still feeling good, very minimal side effects and I think I'll stick to 5 for my next order. There is so much left in the pen that I think I'll try for dose 5 out of it this time so going to order next one on the day of dose 4 to have as backup since my last order was ready for pickup in 2 days.

Sw: 116.5kg
Cw: 107.4kg
Gw:72kg

Loss this week: 0.9kg/2lb
Total loss: 9.1kg/20lb

I'm very happy with the loss this week, I think 1kg/2lb is a very good weekly loss and I hope next week is similar.

I've ordered a protein shake powder to try and have it as breakfast since I really struggle to eat much of my porridge lately. That's mainly because I can now easily ignore hunger so work just takes over and before I know it, it's 11.30 and I've forgotten it again. Drinking it will be easier.

Honestly I'm so happy this is actually working for me, I can actually see myself being a "normal" weight maybe by the end of the year. I have a good feeling that I'm going to be very different on my next birthday in January. It's so freeing to not have food take up most of my thoughts I have so much time for other things now.

Ke11 · 15/03/2025 14:59

@viktoria I had a blood test a few years ago for unrelated reasons but was told by my gp that my iron was just below normal, they said nothing to worry about at the moment and try taking a daily multi vitamin, been fine ever since, I only get the cheap sainsburys own ones. I hate the taste of spinach so that was never an option for me lol

Hey, I always seem to have borderline low iron on blood tests and now I'm tracking what I eat properly I can see my dietary iron is really low. I use Nutrition Geeks 'iron energy plus' tablets, available on Amazon for about 6 quid. If I feel like Im getting constipated I do miss a day as all Iron supplements can make you a bit bunged up.

Thank you! Funnily enough I LOVE spinach - but obviously am not eating enough of it... I also love eggs and nuts. But definitely don't eat much red meat. So it's steak tonight!

viktoria · 15/03/2025 16:07

@FunnyCrabDance thank you. I will look into this. Yes... have felt a bit constipated on mounjaro (helped though by drinking lots of water) and have felt very constipated when I was prescribed iron tablets many years ago. But good tip to not take it everyday. Thanks

Afternoon all,

End of week five and I've lost the pound i put on last week so still at 9.3lbs lost.
I'm hoping that now it's started moving again it will keep going. Not giving up on this.
