I’ve lost a small dog. Has anyone seen it? Next goal for this week: goodbye Kenwood stand mixer! 😂

Hi
Hope it's OK to join.
Started mounjaro in Feb but have only managed to log into mumnet today ... looks like the app has updated??!

I've completed 4 x 2.5mg but only had 5lb loss. However... this coincided with starting weight training. I'm definitely a little bit trimmer so I'm hoping that it is body recomposition rather than just little weight loss.
Going up to the 5mg pen so fingers crossed for better results this month!

Just go but pre warn them say not feeling 100%. You still need to get your calories in even if you dont feel like eating

Yes I might say I’m under the weather and not drink.

LollyWillow · 13/03/2025 14:09

Just catching up.
I don't calorie count, or at least, not really. I downloaded the Nutracheck app and do a check on that every few days - mainly because I worry that my portion sizes creep up if I'm not paying attention.
Other than that I try to eat 3 meals a day, evenly spaced, and have a small snack at 4pm ish.
I aim for meals that are 50%veg, 25% protein and 25% carbs. I try to make sure these are 'good' carbs but will have a little white rice or a few new potatoes from time to time. I'm trying to stick to my normal diet as much as possible but without the snacks or sugar.

Morning everyone!

Just had my 4th 2.5mg dose yesterday. Have been reading so many comments about how 5mg doesn't seem to have much impact on people. Is there anyone with a success story being on 5mg?

I've taken 2 5mg jabs now and I'm finding I have much more suppression . I do feel sick the next day but it does subside after a day . I lost 3.6lbs my first week on 5mg .

ExplodingCarrots · 13/03/2025 15:27

Just a little update for anyone who orders from MedExpress . I ordered my 7.5mg pen yesterday and It was approved and dispatched this morning and said I'll get it by Monday . I also done the price match and got a little bit of credit for next month .

StitchH · 13/03/2025 18:10

Just wanted to add another angle to the calorie chat.
I count but only for the reason the picture shows. This is what I have eaten without a conscious effort.
If i didn't count, I no longer want to eat enough calories to sustain my body properly so I have to push myself to eat a bit more.
The below is having lunch and dinner with some chicken and a gut stuff bar for snacks. My goal is at least 1200 a day and up to 1450 (set at 2lb loss a week). My BMR is 1600 so im still below that which i know is something I have to watch.
Also it helps me to track my protein and fibre to stop any side effects.

I also calorie count so I’ll find it easier to maintain when I come off MJ- I’ll need to calorie count without jabs once I’ve lost the weight in order to maintain, so this builds the habit of doing it while it’s easy to eat under my limit.

W5 D6 2.5mg
SW: 14st 12 1/4
CW: 13st 9
GW: 9st 6

No side effects besides 2 days of constipation which lactulose helped with. Surprised I lost this last two weeks as I've been away for work so have eaten out 6 times!

And congrats on the fitness, and the loss too: that’s the equivalent of a chihuahua apparently!

Ok… major mistake alert… after a rubbish day I resorted to old habits and had a bag of crisps and literally 3 squares of chocolate (of which I would normally have eaten the entire block without blinking). This was NOT a good idea! Needless to say I definitely have no issues with constipation and probably won’t need to ‘go’ again for another week at least. On the positive side I only ate a fraction of what I normally would before stopping as I didn’t feel like any more. And after side effects kicked in an hour later I will think twice before doing this again. Lesson well and truly learnt

ExplodingCarrots · 13/03/2025 22:37

@DelightfullySoSo Chemist4U I think it was. They were 99p cheaper but MedExpress give the difference plus £5 so I got £6 off next time.

Anxietysux · 14/03/2025 01:46

I'm not counting calories either.

I also have not cured my Pepsi max habit with MJ!

Definitely need to work on exercise. I'm on my feet all day at work but apart from that I do absolutely nothing.

Start weight 18st.
Loss this week - 5lb
Current weight 15st 10lb
Total loss so far - 2st 4lb
Goal weight - 12st

Anybody else having really vivid dreams?!

MJSpideySenses · 14/03/2025 06:33

My 6th weigh-in. I've lost a measly 0.6lb.

Tbh, I'm just glad it's a loss. It's TOTM and I've had a mad week, leading to eating more convenience food than I should. Stayed within my calorie deficit though. I also lost 4lb last week and I usually have a small one after a big one.

My 2nd week on 5mg was also pretty uneventful, I do feel more full and nauseous if I eat a large meal but that's about it.

TGIF, I'm so tired.

@Anxietysux I've had a few recently, yes!

PurpleCoo · 14/03/2025 07:38

Week 4 weigh in

SW 96.55kg
CW 90.50kg
This week's loss 1.5kg
Total loss 6.05kg

I am obviously very pleased with my loss this week, which is the maximum line I don't want to cross to consider myself losing weight too fast. I will be happy if it drops to 1kg a week moving forward.

So it's time for my 5th dose today. I'm going to try the hard twist method, but if that doesn't work I am going to have a 2.5mg dose from my 5mg pen. I feel I have the right amount of hunger/fullness/lack of desire to eat unhealthy foods and it would be silly to increase the dose to risk increased side effects and completely losing my appetite, which would be unhealthy. The only side effect at present is a dry mouth, but as a person who, pre MJ, would frequently forget to drink, this is great to ensure I drink plenty.

In response to the calorie counting discussion, it's my preference to track. Me talking about being given/allowed a certain amount of calories is just referencing the number I was given when I entered my age/weight/activity levels and desired rate of weight loss. It's a guideline/starting point, else how would I know how much I can eat to make sure I'm not over eating. I want to be able to make sure I'm having a good balance of fats/protein etc. I am a scientist and like data. I can then increase/decrease my calories based on the data and rate of loss I want. I know that doesn't work for everyone, but it does for me based on past experience. I am a grazer too rather than someone who binged or ate really unhealthily, so tracking helps me monitor this. The poster who commented on it being a good was to ensure you eat enough calories made a really excellent point as well. It's so important to ensure we are eating enough when we are on medication that reduces your appetite.

MissionToSize10 · 14/03/2025 07:49

Yesterday was a bad day for me i admit. After a stressful morning of getting kids to school i had to rush home to join a two hour work call. I skipped breakfast, then for lunch i had a jacket potato so that was fine. Dinner, we had a family thing so it was late and for convenience, the kids wanted pizza. So i had three slices of a large dominoes plus a kitkat! Today, the scales say +4lbs 😭

i know they are just excuses. I failed to plan and gave in. Got to get back to it today. Taking GD today, a bit nervous about doing it wrong!

pinkcow123 · 14/03/2025 07:51

After a stagnant week around my period, I lost 1.1kg this week! Woo!

5weeks:
Taking my total loss too: 8.2kg / 18.3lbs!

*edited to add week I am on

Horseradish001 · 14/03/2025 07:58

W3 weigh in

SW 96kg
CW 91.5kg
CBMI 32.8

0.7kg loss this week - I know I have moved less and drunk less water and also that this is a sustainable, sensible rate, but there is something great about losing faster even if it is water weight.

I haven't been calorie counting until not, mainly because I have a daily communal meal as part of my work, that I have little choice about and I wasn't sure how to log this. However I've found an app that makes guesses from photos (that have been pretty accurate on home cooked food), so I'm going to start logging.

I've had good suppression still (had a very hungry day mid week when I gave in, but that's gone again). I really wasn't sure what pen to order next, but then I realised 2.5 and 5 were the same price, so I've gone for 5 and will take 2.5 as a half dose until I feel it wearing off at bit and want to go up. It just means I have the option to do this.

Hope everyone else has had a good week

A bad day happens to everyone, don't beat yourself up about it! People eat pizza as a part of a normal healthy diet. It's not gonna be a gain of 4lbs of fat overnight is it? You'd need to have consumed at least 12000 calories! Your body is probably just like woohoo!! Carbs!! :)
You've got this, mission!

Totally agree with @Zibb and empathise @MissionToSize10!

I caved and had pizza and chocolate last weekend, then moaned about how guilty I felt about it. My DH quite rightly corrected me and said a few slices of dominoes really wasn’t important, I should chill tf out, and try and enjoy it! It’s all checks and balances: I just ate a bit less the next day… there’s no way on earth I would have done that 8 weeks ago!

You’re doing great @MissionToSize10 !!

@MissionToSize10 I did the GD this week. It was fairly straightforward. I did bend the first needle though. Just take it slowly, it's like teasing the liquid out. I got 80mls.

I'm constipated after the GD which was a slightly higher dose, up to now the prebiotic I've taken for years has kept me regular. I've stocked up on duclolax and psyllium husk, coming today. When is it best to take psyllium husk please?

Sarahyorks · 14/03/2025 09:03

I'm away from tomorrow for week to celebrate my 50th, I did my jab 2 days later than normal so I don't have to take pen with me.
I'm just worried it's all going to go to pot. We off for a week in Benidorm! I know daft place to go when don't want to drink/eat unhealthy. Iv already warned hubby and friend I cant drink like I used to, nor do I want to. But also don't want to be seen as a misery. I do plan on walking loads and seeing more of old town etc so hopefully keep me out of bars.
I'm not expecting a loss when get home I just don't want to put it all back on, iv lost 1stone 3lb so far.

MissionToSize10 · 14/03/2025 09:10

Thanks for being kind. I know what your saying, its a bit frustrating. My only saving grace was i limited to three slices and didnt delve too far into the crap cupboard, i was fairly restrained!!!!! Old me would have thrown in the towel but new me has already planned out food for today. I wont let this beat me 💪

hennybeans · 14/03/2025 09:19

Week 5 day 1:

SW 124.5
CW 116.7
TL 7.8 kg ( 17lbs)

I’ve lost the weight of my mini schnauzer!
Well, I was supposed to go up to 5mg today, but have been so ill all week with tonsillitis that I’ve just done 36 clicks from my 5mg pen (3mg injected). And I’ve injected into my thigh for the first time. I’ve had a few days this week where I’ve just had liquids and few cream crackers and that’s it due to the tonsillitis. I actually need to eat a bit more and get back to my new normal. I’ll try for 5 mg next week.

It’s also exactly 1 month since I started mj, so I’ve taken my measurements this morning.
I’ve lost an inch off my hips, 1.5 inches off my waist, 2 inches off my stomach ( around my belly button), nothing off my bust.
