I'm a slow responder.

I wouldn't skip your 4th dose. A lot of people find it rough going to 5mg even after doing the 5th dose from the 2.5mg. The 4 doses are there to prime your body and get you ready. Remember, it's just the starting dose and it's totally normal for weight loss to be minimal on 2.5mg.

I would argue that if you are experiencing appetite suppression then it is actually working for you - it is the calorie deficit that causes the weight loss. MJ just helps you put in the hard work, it doesn't actually do it for you.

In your position, I would look at body measurements (as they can show your body changing even if the scales don't) and just hang on one more week. Double check your TDEE, up your water intake if you can, and don't feel defeated.

You're putting your body through a major change and it's going to take time to adjust. Not only are you adding the GLP-1 but all of a sudden you are lowering your calories, moving more, eating better etc. that's going to make anyone's body be like "woah, what is going on here?!"

I apologise if that sounds harsh, it's not meant to. I know it can be frustrating hearing about people losing huge amounts of weight in the first month but it's good to remember that they are going to be the vocal ones. It's so totally normal for people to not see the scales change in the first month. Your body is reacting in it's own way and you will see the changes you want eventually. Just hang in there.

I agree with a lot of what you said.

Mounjaro does more for weight loss than just cause suppression though.

A summary as on phone

feeling of fullness.
Impact on Fat Metabolism:
Improved Insulin Sensitivity: Mounjaro enhances insulin sensitivity, meaning the body uses glucose (sugar) more effectively, which helps prevent the storage of excess calories as fat.
Lipolysis: By mimicking the GIP hormone, it also stimulates lipolysis, the process of breaking down fat cells.
Reduced Visceral Fat: Studies show that Mounjaro is particularly effective at reducing visceral fat, the fat deep in the belly and around internal organs, which is associated with increased health risks.
Weight Loss:
The combination of appetite suppression, improved insulin sensitivity, and fat metabolism enhancement leads to a reduction in body weight and fat mass.

I'm staying on 2.5 for another month but I almost reconsidered because of the reasons beyond suppression.

I've ordered my 5mg dose with MedExoress yesterday and had an email just now saying it will be with me by Friday.

Hopefully that's the same for anyone else ordering as I know people have been worried about delays.

What I did was use a syringe for my last dose and took 4mg as that dose before moving to 5

Oh, absolutely it does a lot more than suppression, I wasn't trying to say it doesn't. It's entirely possible that the original commenter will not truly experience those other effects until higher doses but that doesn't mean it's a good idea to skip doses and move up before their body is properly prepared. If they are experiencing good suppression then they are off to a good start.
There can be other factors at play for the lack of weight loss, like suddenly upping your cardio exercise can temporarily increase inflammation and water retention. The numbers on the scale aren't everything which is why it's important to look at other measurements. Not just physical ones either, but how you feel in other ways.
It's so normal to experience minimal changes on the scale in the first month, maybe even longer, and I wish more people realised that.

For me, 7.5mg is where everything really kicked off, and maybe that will be the same for @HoratioBum . Good luck on your journey, whatever you decide to do!

Another NSV - my boobs are shrinking! Just got fitted as my bras were all sliding about and not doing their job properly and I've gone from a 40HH to a 38GG.

Maybe this summer I will finally get to wear a pretty little sun dress without worrying about covering up my massive bra.

End of week 3 and I've maintained, despite sticking to the same calorie deficit as first two weeks. The dreaded week 3 plateau!!

Still, it's an 8lbs loss overall since starting, which I'm happy with, as I don't want to lose more than 2lbs per week. I'm sticking with 2.5mg for the next pen so will be interesting to see if I can still lose steadily on this amount for the next 4 weeks, or if moving up to 5mg would be better.

No side effects apart from slight constipation. Generally, I find the day of jab I am a bit spaced, then the next two days I get a really focused energy, which has been great!

Snap - only moved 0.35lb this week (end of week 3) and despite expecting the plateau it's still a bit demoralising. Going to go measure the belly and hope for results that way!

I am due to go up to the 5mg dose next week. I ordered my first batch from Juniper but quite frankly they are much more expensive that other providers. Has anyone changed providers and how easy is it to do so?

Yes I just changed and got approval within couple of hours

Started with Medexpress and they offer no loyalty discount so I swapped to Farmeci, ordered yesterday lunchtime, dispatched this morning

initially with Medexpress I had to resend photo etc three times, this was much smoother

SongToTheSiren · 12/03/2025 16:55

Hi all,

Fantastic losses and great to hear about everyone's experiences.

Couple of days late with my week 4 check in but I'm now 14st 6lbs from a sw of 15st 3lbs. 11lbs in 4 weeks is nice and steady for me and I haven't had any bad side effects which I'm grateful for.

Did the 5th/bonus dose from my 2.5mg pen this week using a syringe. Due to a stubborn bastard air bubble that took loads of tapping and priming to get out, I only got 0.58ml as a dose rather than the standard 0.60ml dose. Bit disappointed with that as I was hoping to have a slightly bigger dose in preparation for going up to my 5mg pen next week, but best not to take the risk with air bubbles.

Like some other people have mentioned, a big change I've noticed for me is my Coke zero habit. I used to drink 2/3 cans a day for years but for the last month I've only been having 1 a day. Most of the time I'm only having half that can before I feel I don't want anymore and genuinely not bothered about having more. I'm definitely feeling a lot better without all that caffeine in my system 😀

Chrestomanciscat · 12/03/2025 19:10

I moved up to 5mg on monday and feel absolutely terrible - exhausted, vv nauseous and a dull headache. I've been in bed all day today and hardly eaten anything. It's so rough! I think ill go down to 3.75mg next week.
I was struck by the pp quoting that mounjaro is helping to live the life you want - i hope that happens for me too as even on the 2.5mg i had nausea which affecting me in the gym. I'll just keep going and see i suppose 💪

OvertiredandConfused · 12/03/2025 19:21

The scales have finally moved for me again!

I’m halfway through my second week on 5mg having done 4weeks on 2.5mg. My “official“ weighing day is Friday and it didn’t move at all between 28th February and 7th March. I weighed today and I’ve lost 2lbs. That means I’ve lost 1st 4.5lbs since 1st February. Really hope I see a tiny bit more on Friday. I only need another 1/2lb to be out of the 20s 🤞🏻

Now need to decide whether to stick at 5mg for another four weeks or go up to 7.5mg. What are other people thinking of doing?

Mounjaroday · 11/03/2025 21:59

Won’t lie, I am envious of 10 hours sleep! For an insomniac / light sleeper like me, that sounds like heaven!

Sorry about the headache / nausea though and glad you’re a bit brighter.

But 10 hours straight through! Amazing! 🤩 😂

I love my sleep I had a dx of autism and ADHD 5 years ago I am now on 96 mg Concerta xl daily which has been amazing for me
the irony of taking slow release speed has enabled me to go from 4 hours of broken sleep a night for the last 30 years to a minimum of 8 hours which I love
just need to lose some weight now haha

Over my calories for the first time

HoratioBum · 12/03/2025 20:55

@Serveuse thank you for the head wobble, I do appreciate it. You're absolutely right of course. There's a lot going on for my body to take on at once - upping exercise and reducing calories has probably caused a metabolic freak out in my fat cells!

I'll continue with the 2.5 and move up to 5mg in due course.

Thanks for the support guys. ♥️

Hangryfastjo · 12/03/2025 21:31

Oh God, had my 5th jab yesterday, about 5.30pm, 3.3mg out of the pen. And every bit of food in the kitchen is shouting to me 😫😭. Trying so hard to resist. Why is this happening the day after jab and when I got extra with the golden dose.
Send help 🤣

Over my calories for the first time

That's a lot of calories!! What have you set your weight loss as? I put mine at the max (0.9kg) and I only get 1400 calories in combined mode, 1200 if separate. Although I may have to start eating more as I'm losing weight a little faster than I should

I checked on TDEE to work it and use nutracheck to set the loss rate to be the equivalent of 1.5lbs a week - I am very active at work and am swimming/gyming 4/5 times a week

My losses have been 3/3/1/1/2.5 since my journey started.

Ah that makes sense. I was a bit cautious with mine as I put not very active at work and moderately active in leisure. I swim 3x1 hour a week, and walk about 14 hours a week at a brisk pace. Wasn't sure how much exercise is a lot Vs moderate so played it safe and out moderate. I also read it's best not to eat exercise calories as well, although I'm not sure how I feel about this when on holiday... I average about 12 miles a day when traveling

Mounjaroday · 12/03/2025 22:35

Has anyone else still not managed to up their exercise? I have been HOPELESS. So busy at work and with the kids, I just can’t seem to carve out that time for myself.
Any tips for prioritising this?

Multitask!

Walk the dogs further or take up cani x

Get the kids involved with exercise - I have set a goal with a 7 year old family member to climb a mountain in Scotland in August, and we are developing a training programme to prepare for this. We started on Sunday with a 7.5 mile flat walk. Plus we are spending quality time together as a family while doing it, building bonds and sharing experiences.

If meeting a friend for a catch up, instead of just a meal, coffee or the pub, incorporate a walk or a physical activity instead. A friend and I meet for a swim every week. We do breast stroke and chat at the same time, but do about a mile over the hour

That is not a lot of calories! Massively restricting calories will only lead to a slower metabolism and more weight gain once someone goes back to eating more.

For most people it’s better to lose weight eating the highest amount of calories possible especially if the plan is to come off MJ at some point.

It's really not a lot of calories.
Mine are about the same. Too many people in these groups aren't actually eating enough and then not seeing why they are too tired to do anything.

Why wouldn't you want to eat a decent amount of food if you can still lose the same amount of calories and feel much better for it?

I agree with everything you say, but in my opinion 1700 calories isn't a massive restriction. I would expect to eat that many calories, maybe 1800 when I am at the maintenance stage.

I am a strong believer in losing weight slowly and steadily and I don't want to lose more than 1.5kg a week, although my goal is just 1kg. But, the calories I have been told I need to lose 0.9kg a week, is 1400. So when you have to eat 1400 calories to lose weight slowly, 1700 does sound a lot

The only exercise I manage at the moment is walking the dogs but I've been looking on youtube for 10 minute & 20 minute workouts and finding a few that I think I could deal with doing (I really hate organised exercise) so I plan to do those while the kids are doing homework or even while dinner is in the oven.

I've also ordered a walking pad so that on nights where I just feel like watching TV or whatever I can just walk while doing it.

I think I was surprised to see a number like that when mine is so different. I make sure to eat nearly all of my 1400 calories and I have had great energy levels. I have been much quicker at walking and swimming compared to before MJ, and even did two 7.5mile walks this weekend instead of the usual 1 long walk. I was curious to know how much weight loss was being set to be given 1700 calories. Perhaps it's my age, and I get given less because my metabolism is slower after 40

Currently I can eat 2100 calories a day and still have a 500cal deficit. If I ate my exercise calories I could eat 2400 calories a day. Sometimes even more than that.

Point is, might be a lot of calories to you but everyone's TDEE is different. I do absolutely understand where you're coming from though as I am not looking forward to the day my allowance is only 1400 calories!

Also, going over your allowance on one day is such a non-event, you can adjust the next day or whenever and it will all balance out! I'm definitely feeling better since I started looking at my weekly calories rather than just daily.

sweetpickle2 · 13/03/2025 05:34

Agree 1700 isn’t lots of calories- my cutting calories on my TDEE with moderate exercise are 2000 because I’m tall. Everyone is different, and whilst I’m sure you didn’t have sinister intentions I am actually not sure it’s helpful or healthy to come on here making people feel like a perfectly normal amount of calories is “a lot”.
