I’ve lost a small dog. Has anyone seen it? Next goal for this week: goodbye Kenwood stand mixer! 😂

I'm on 5mg with good suppression BUT it hasn't stopped me wanting to drink. Pre MJ, DH and I would get through a couple of G&Ts on a Friday evening followed by a bottle of wine. I thought that the desire for alcohol on a Friday evening (end of the working week wind down) would disappear

However, it appears not. Anyone else finding this?

I was hopeful when I read people saying they had t touched a drop after their first dose but it wasn’t like that for me. I’ve had an unhealthy relationship with alcohol for years. Every night was 3-4 beers followed by cider or 3-4 glasses of wine. I’ve gone off beer and cider and now just have 2-3 glasses of wine instead. I’ll take that as a big improvement and hope to reduce even further.

WoolerOwl · 12/03/2025 06:01

I’m at the end of W2 and doing well. Using intermittent fasting approach with a 5 hour eating window (either breakfast and lunch or lunch and early dinner). But those meals are quite small (and nutritious) and yet have felt enough. I feel so much better. No heartburn, joint stiffness has hugely reduced, clearer thinking, more alert, no food noise. Have decided only to weigh monthly with the supervising pharmacist, but clothes are definitely a little looser. I’m abroad on holiday so won’t get my W3 dose until Saturday. Will be interesting to see how the next three days feel - I intend to stick to eating healthily with one treat meal.

Weigh day, so checking in!

SW: 13st 3lb
CW: 12st 4.4lb
TW: 11st ish

W2: 12st 10.8lb -6.2lb
W3: 12st 8.6lb -2.2lb
W4: 12st 6.4lb -2.2lb
W5: 12st 5.2lb -1.2lb
W6: 12st 4.4lb -0.8lb

Having my second 5mg today. I've felt fine on it overall, the odd headache and that's about it. Feel freezing this morning!

I'm fighting my impatience at the speed of the loss. But reminding myself before the jab, I'd eat healthily and exercise loads and was steadily gaining. So this is the right direction finally.

I've also noticed the impact on my ADHD symptoms... I'm calmer. Less "dopamine seeking" behaviours generally. I'm buying less online 🤣 I wasn't a big drinker already, but the most I've had is a single drink each week and not particularly enjoyed it. The calm feeling is equally as good as any weight loss! And I took a progress photo this week and I'm amazed by how different i look when I haven't yet hit 1 stone loss.

ashtyler · 12/03/2025 06:51

It’s definitely curbed my desire for alcohol which is really good as I was falling into the habit of “a glass of wine each night plus more at the weekends”.

I’ve had one glass over dinner since starting but it made my blood sugar spike really quickly. Wasn’t worth it.

in other news: I’m finally in the 15s! Under 16stone for the first time in nearly a decade!

So far just under 10lbs lost since 22nd Feb. Equivalent to a metal folding chair 😁

sc0ttishlass · 12/03/2025 07:00

Hello all and well done on all the losses, amazing!

Weigh day here.
Starting weight 13 stone 5lb
Current weight 12 stone 1lb
Loss this week (end of week 5) 1lb

I'm actually delighted with only a 1lb loss as I mentioned up thread the gallbladder pains (even though had it removed) and I was losing too much too quickly. I'd stick at 1 to 2lb a week happily from now on (more than happily!)

A question. What podcasts can people recommend on weight loss injections ? I listen to oprahs one and loved that. Any others? X

0987654321q · 12/03/2025 07:23

For the past week my scale has flashed a 79.x number before jumping back up to an 80.x number. I feel like telling it to be kind but it doesn't seem interested. Maybe tomorrow... 😁

Mounjaroday · 12/03/2025 07:53

Yay well done @ashtyler! 👏🏻

NSV for me this morning: that pair of size 18 trousers that I couldn’t do up, I can now slip on comfortably. Unfortunately they’re a beautiful plum velvet so not in season at all!

The alcohol thing is interesting. Mounjaro has been transformative for me - I recently said it’s knocked my 30-50 units a week habit on the head, which was obviously getting out of hand.

I still share a bottle of wine with my husband on a Sunday though, and will have a drink if catching up with my friends’ on a Friday. I quite fancied a beer last night so was proud of myself for not reaching for the fridge.

Mumsnet sometimes feel full of people who drink rarely or not at all, so it’s so cool to have this group where we can share and have support.

Up the mountain we go!

The main reason I don't drink much is the extra calories I always consume in the days after.

I don't even have had to have a lot to drink for it to happen. DH doesn't drink at all either which has significantly reduced my alcohol intake.

Oddly I also just had a dream I was at an evening work event and half my table had disappeared. I looped around the room to go back to my table and felt really woozy and ended up leaning, feeling like I was at about a 20 degree angle. I remember everyone looking at me and saying I must have had more than 2 glasses of champagne or be on Mounjaro.

Such an odd dream when I never have evening work events. I can see what's on my mind though..

Zibb · 12/03/2025 08:40

I had a massive roast dinner last night and I can still feel it in my stomach now. Really enjoyed it but won't be doing it again any time soon 🤢 Hopefully won't experience any side effects other than still feeling full more than 12 hours later.

It's really interesting to see the effect that mj has on people's alcohol consumption and their habits surrounding alcohol.

My pepsi max addiction has been quiet since starting the jabs. Saving so much money just not buying that! I've had one can in a month and didn't even finish it because it just didn't feel the same as before.

StitchH · 12/03/2025 09:02

Morning all.

On day 5 of week 5 on a first 3.75-5mg dose (see previous escapades).

For the last two days my stomach has been really sore and I have suffered from sulpher burps. Not sure why as my diet hasn't changed from 2.5mg apart from even harder to hit my minimum 1200.

Been taking peppermint oil and yesterday if subsided by evening and then started again about 2am. I wonder if it's where I'm lying down when still digesting.

Don't expect answers just random musings as I always like to know how others are doing.

Yes it’s had an effect on my ADHD too, I’m definitely less dopamine seeking and calmer. Which is crazy but shows the link between gut and brain.

Also less brain fog and other peri symptoms, the joys of being 40 😭😂

Catmum100 · 12/03/2025 09:24

I forgot my Pepsi Max addiction has also disappeared!

0987654321q · 12/03/2025 09:45

Nutracheck lets us track 4 nutrients on the home page so I'm tracking calories, carbs, fat and protein.

I know if I go below about 140g of carbs I get dizzy. Fat is a good long term energy source but I am active so need to be careful of the split. Of course I need to keep protein high enough too. 🙄

TheYouYouAre · 12/03/2025 10:20

End of week 3 and I've maintained, despite sticking to the same calorie deficit as first two weeks. The dreaded week 3 plateau!!

Still, it's an 8lbs loss overall since starting, which I'm happy with, as I don't want to lose more than 2lbs per week. I'm sticking with 2.5mg for the next pen so will be interesting to see if I can still lose steadily on this amount for the next 4 weeks, or if moving up to 5mg would be better.

No side effects apart from slight constipation. Generally, I find the day of jab I am a bit spaced, then the next two days I get a really focused energy, which has been great!

Snap except I track fibre more than fat. (Don't want more toilet issues).

Love nutracheck for this.

@sc0ttishlass I’ve listened to a few of Genelle Aldred’s podcasts which I thought were quite good!

I'm about to have my first 5 mg today. I've had 5 weeks of 2.5 which has gone very well. I still have suppression and ideally I'd stay as low as I can for as long as I can as I am having to use a little will power at the moment which is something I have to learn. I feel though that I have the 5 mg waiting I will take the extra suppression, but hopefully I'd like to stay at 5 mg for as long as possible. I'm not in a rush to increase my future doses.

SilentRetreat · 12/03/2025 12:45

I've decided to stick with 2.5 for my second pen. Time will tell if it's been the right decision for me but the suppression is reasonably good and some slight nausea creeping on now at week 4. I have a busy couple of weeks ahead that I can't risk being unwell and needing to be in bed for so I'm hoping I can just manage a bit longer on this dose. I will report back at some point on whether this was the right decision.

HoratioBum · 12/03/2025 13:43

I've ordered my 5mg dose with MedExoress yesterday and had an email just now saying it will be with me by Friday.

Hopefully that's the same for anyone else ordering as I know people have been worried about delays.

HoratioBum · 12/03/2025 13:47

Also I'm wondering if I can delay my next dose which is due Thursday evening and go straight onto 5mg on Friday rather than complete the 4th week of 2.5.

After my initial loss which appears to have been water weight, I've barely shifted a pound in 20 days, despite being in a defecit, exercising and so on. I wonder if I'm one of the people that 2.5 just doesn't work for (apart from suppression, I have had plenty of that)

So first week on 5mg and I'm down 3.6lbs this week .
Total loss so far on mounjaro is 12.4lbs . Overall I've lost 30lbs now and I feel so so much better .
I'm getting good suppression but I think I'll still order the 7.5mg for my next pen .

I'm a slow responder.

I wouldn't skip your 4th dose. A lot of people find it rough going to 5mg even after doing the 5th dose from the 2.5mg. The 4 doses are there to prime your body and get you ready. Remember, it's just the starting dose and it's totally normal for weight loss to be minimal on 2.5mg.

I would argue that if you are experiencing appetite suppression then it is actually working for you - it is the calorie deficit that causes the weight loss. MJ just helps you put in the hard work, it doesn't actually do it for you.

In your position, I would look at body measurements (as they can show your body changing even if the scales don't) and just hang on one more week. Double check your TDEE, up your water intake if you can, and don't feel defeated.

You're putting your body through a major change and it's going to take time to adjust. Not only are you adding the GLP-1 but all of a sudden you are lowering your calories, moving more, eating better etc. that's going to make anyone's body be like "woah, what is going on here?!"

I apologise if that sounds harsh, it's not meant to. I know it can be frustrating hearing about people losing huge amounts of weight in the first month but it's good to remember that they are going to be the vocal ones. It's so totally normal for people to not see the scales change in the first month. Your body is reacting in it's own way and you will see the changes you want eventually. Just hang in there.

buffyangel · 12/03/2025 14:54

I am due to go up to the 5mg dose next week. I ordered my first batch from Juniper but quite frankly they are much more expensive that other providers. Has anyone changed providers and how easy is it to do so?

OntheTrainX · 12/03/2025 14:58

I changed to Zava and it was easy. @buffyangel

Took my first 5mg last night. Side effects are ok, same as before (slight tinny taste and coldness). But the suppression is immense! Forcing myself to eat today. I am glad I went up to 5.
