Hi,

Anyone on WLI and in the slow lane v. welcome here for a bit of plodding supportive chat!

Plodders, bobbers, plateau-ers, stallers and stuck ducks come on in! Would be great to chat with others who are in the same boat, ie travelling at the speed of snails on their WL journey.

I have a mountain to move (nearly 5 st), am not ready to give up on Mounjaro yet and would love a bit of company here on this long haul to reach a healthy BMI. 🦥 🐌 🏔️

Come join me if you have a long way to go (either due to slow losses or amount to lose) and would like some peer support to keep going when the scales are being stubborn. It’s hard being on WLI when it’s not working as well for you and progress is slow or stalled. This is a safe space to share anything, the good, the bad and the side effecty. Anything positive (scale or non scale related) as well as freedom to vent and grumble as much as you want

If you taking WLI and trucking along nicely or nearly at your goal weight that is fantastic but please post on a different thread.

i have lost 2 stone in 2 years! Might sound like madness but i dont want to lose quickly! Am scared to come off it now as i dont want to out it back on but also dont want to increase dose as have got rid of side effects. Am on 7.5. Realistically have another 2 stone to go. Probably need to decide what to do….

Doggymummar · 18/03/2025 08:21

@minimonkey11 it's your journey lovely. I don't like all the posts where people are saying yes three pounds this week, three stone in three months etc but that's their journey. My friends tell me they could lose more weight than I do without MJ, I say good for you, if you want to do it. If I can't lose a pound a week on less than 1000 calories a day, but I can gain a stone a week eating 1500 cals a DAY over Christmas then I know there is something wrong with my metabolism. I will take my MJ for life if I have to. I was looking at myself yesterday and I have no saggy skin or Ozempic face. I am ok with my progress 😌 we all do it our own way.

tryingtobesogood · 18/03/2025 08:26

Good morning

i I think I belong here even though I’ve not been doing this for long. I find other threads a bit overwhelming and is leading me to question this whole thing. I’m coming to the end of week 2 and not expecting much to have happened. I know I am eating well, and am going to start an exercise regime, and thinking about using measurements rather than weight to measure my progress.

Im really pleased that other people are losing plenty but reading those posts reminds me of being back at SW or WW and makes it feel like some competitive game and I feel under pressure to eat less and less when im actually happy with how im eating.

so if you will have me id like to be a plodder.

TuxedoTammy · 18/03/2025 12:39

Yes @minimonkey11 @Doggymummar and @tryingtobesogood I also like this thread for similar reasons. It doesn’t feel competitive and every progress is seen as just that - progress. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Even if it is slower by comparison to others, the injections can hopefully help us get to where we are comfortable to be, given time. There are also other aspects of health to consider including nutrition, enjoying food, finding movement we enjoy and living our life well. So, go well, my friends …

mamabeeboo · 18/03/2025 13:31

Fellow plodder! Hello!

15lbs in 7 weeks, with most of that being lost during week 1.

I was reflecting on this, and I'm quite relaxed in my weightloss approach. I'll have my snacks and eat 75% clean and I wonder if that's the reason for the slow weightloss? I keep telling myself this is the most sustainable way (especially since I have a long way to go). I also never had an exceptionally poor diet, I love home cooking, but my quantities are huge and I have a 'mindless snacking TV evening' habit to break.

I'm wondering if those who lose a significant amount of weight very quickly (the fastest I have seen is 3 stone in the first month?!??!!) have completely uphauled their diet. From takeaways/fast food/junk etc to complete clean eating, salads and grilled chicken style?

What are everyone's thoughts? Maybe it's just me?

TuxedoTammy · 18/03/2025 13:52

I eat pretty healthily generally. So it’s mostly about eating less for me too.

Doggymummar · 18/03/2025 13:59

I've eaten low calorie for years, IF fast 800 Keto you name it I've done it so I didn't have a lot I needed to change tbh. I think those that are losing a little maybe are a lot of high calories foods so it's a big change for them maybe 🤔. Bit like when men give up the beer for a month and drop a stone.

ChristmasLightsLover · 19/03/2025 21:56

Hey Plodders. I thought of you all today as I did laps of the houses and field near my office over lunch. I was literally plodding! I’m in the office more for a few weeks and so I need to find a way to still exercise whilst also commuting. I drive so I am considering going out from work, avoiding the traffic and then going home. That could work.

How is everyone doing? I ate four apples today. Four! Comfort / distraction eating I know… but it was it chocolate or biscuits like it would have been previously…

I am going to sleep now. I am officially listing sleeping as my new fav hobby.

Onwards plodders, onwards!

tryingtobesogood · 20/03/2025 07:37

Morning, happy to say I have lost a lb this week and feel really good about that.

@ChristmasLightsLover I have a thing about oranges at the moment, can’t get enough of them!

im going to go for a lunchtime walk, then I can have a nice sit when I get home. I went to a dancercise class last night, first public exercising for a long time and it was good. I was definitely plodding though, could not get half the moves 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼

Orangesandlemons77 · 20/03/2025 08:11

I have been thinking about this and I want to continue MJ for maintenance after losing weight, so does it really matter if I lose weight more slowly? It just might take a little longer. I think taking the pressure off is helping me a little bit.

I have stopped weighing myself daily for example, I just might weight myself when the pharmacy needs me to. I am also focusing on other things than weight so swimming for example.

Doggymummar · 20/03/2025 10:02

I lost a pound this week too, have been walking a bit more, joined an online walking club, but I haven't done any classes yet as it's been nice enough to go out a bit. I switched to Oushk this month with maintenance in mind, I still have maybe 4 or 5 stone to lose, depends what I look like at lower weights and I think they don't accept anyone under 30 BMI as a start but will support you to 17 BMI and whatever you want to maintain at. I'm thinking probably 20. But it's at least a year away I think.

PlodAlongPolly · 21/03/2025 11:55

Hi everyone! Just caught up and enjoyed reading your posts and big welcome to newbie plodders! 😊

I see there are some scale and non-scale wins, and chatting about how this is our journey, our way, that’s brilliant 🌟 No competitive diet-clubesque pressure here! All welcome and we can be as honest as we like with how we’re feeling on our journeys.

I’m still in stuck duck territory weight wise, but keeping positive and focussing on non-scale wins for now. This week it included some nice play times with the kids and a couple of friends (they don’t know I’m on MJ) but having a chat over a cuppa while the kids played was really lovely, made my day! Am trying to focus on health for now, particularly mental health and mood boosting activities.

Am plucking up the resolve to do a short walk today with a view to building up gently over spring/ summer. Water intake has fallen again so need to get back on it.

Catch up with you again soon plucky plodders :)

I just switched to Oushk too. I would advise to avoid Cloud Pharmacy! They sent me a defective pen and have refused to replace or refund it 😬 awful customer service and quite disappointed as I had planned to stay with them for the long haul as they offer maintenance.

Am out the full cost unfortunately, hopefully can get the money back via the credit card company.

Trust pilot reviews are mixed but plenty of 1 star reviews that reflect my experience with Cloud unfortunately.

A lb down this week, very very happy. I’d love a magic weight loss wand that made it disappear over night, but in the meantime eating healthier and moving more will have to do.

hope you all have a good weekend

PinkSour · 21/03/2025 22:24

PlodAlongPolly · 06/03/2025 11:25

H @PinkSour well done on the 25lbs! 🌟 That’s a great milestone and must be a good boost to keep going! Yeah 24 months is a good achievable timeframe and not that long in the future at all. Is hard trying to lose weight with little ones, I’ve tried and failed so many times with various diets/ plans. Am often tired looking after my toddler and older DC and trying to keep on top of the chaos that is our house(!)

I totally understand your worry about how you might be perceived at the school gates in later years. Try not to worry though, there are so many different shapes and sizes of parents and I’m sure you are lovely and will be appreciated for who you are 🌸 I am one of the big mums at the gates, and I did feel self conscious at first. I think I’m seen as a quite a friendly mum so it hasn’t been a negative thing. If anything my worry is that when (when, hopefully not if!) I reach a healthy weight that people will see me differently as I’ve always been ‘big’ to them, although I was slimmer in years before having children. But I know really this shouldn’t matter and in any case is a way off for now.

Edited

@PlodAlongPolly thank you for all these kind words. I disappeared for a while there, had my birthday and basically fell massively off the wagon and feel totally shit about it. I need a kick up the arse to get going again, started my 12.5mg pen today so hoping that will help.

Ah good to catch up with you @PinkSour, you’re welcome and happy birthday! Don’t be hard on yourself, we all have ups and downs and it’s ok, we will get there in the end.

My wagon has been all over the place this week after managing the shake plan for a while, we’ve had a few family events and it has been so busy. A family member took us all out for lunch today to Pizza Express and had a pizza and pudding too. Ah well, tomorrow is another day! It was a lovely meal together though, so while it isn’t a weight loss win it was definitely an emotional one so still counting it as a positive, just need to tweak food choices back in the right direction. All the best with your 12.5 jab, let us know how you get on :)

Why defective ?

can you syringe out

PlodAlongPolly · 23/03/2025 16:34

Hi @Blondeshavemorefun I actually decided to post more fully about it on a separate thread in the WLI board (https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5299319-cloud-pharmacy-avoid?latest=1)

Just wanted to warn others as been a bit of a shocker to get no assistance through this pharmacy. It appears there are lots people having issues with pens not working and not being offered replacements or refunds etc.

So the pen didn’t prime or dispense properly. I didn’t want to take the risk with using a syringe to take any more from it as I was concerned the contents may be compromised (due to intense pain from the little amount I managed to get and very inflamed/hot/ painful site that followed for several days)

Yeah I would have used my own insulin syringes in the normal run of it, ie if the medication had been ok

Hi @PlodAlongPolly I scanned the QR code on my recent box from oushk and it gave me a list of numbers. I hope you can get your money back. Did you feel any different with the dose that you toom after the initial sting and did it work as it should? I had a hot red reaction everytime that lasted for 4-5 days for 3 months until I let my pen warm out from the fridge for 1hr and no more reactions since after 2.5 months. I've never felt it sting as it was going on, this is worrying.
Oushk is a really good pharmacy, it's good you've moved on to them.

I'm thinking about maintenance but oushk is booked up until June. I'm now 11st 2lbs bmi 27.7, had regular losses 1lb a week since starting 10mg, it is a good dose for me, just taken 5th dose. I'm now a dress size 12 but want to lose another stone yet, and I think I'll have to stay on a lower dose maybe 5mg and increase to ?1500 calories, because I'm insulin resistance and I do feel irritable, mood swings, lack of concentration and literally shake if I don't eat for a while and get low blood sugar but on mounjaro I'm fine, I only notice it now when it wears off at end of week. I'm hoping more fat loss will reverse the symptoms, but I don't know if it will so might have to be on it long term 😔

Orangesandlemons77 · 23/03/2025 18:05

I've heard the following are also good for maintenence: Pharmulous and Simple online pharmacy.

I'm wondering about trying to do a couple of 'fast days' a week maybe that might help my slow weight loss. Also a bt more exercise, now the weather is a bit better.

Here's for a good week for everyone. Flowers

PlodAlongPolly · 24/03/2025 16:10

Hi everyone, sorry I’ve not had time to reply to everyone individually as at the start of the thread, but hope you’re all doing ok and thank you for posting on your updates. It’s lovely to see some spring sunshine and hopefully it will help put a spring in our steps too!

That’s great to know @Orangesandlemons77 a couple more options there for maintenance 👍

Let us know how you get on with the fast days and hope you have a good week too x

Hi @Mysticmaiden that’s good your QR code on the Oushk box worked. It seems that not all QR codes have a URL weblink and my DH (who is more tech savvy) said not all QR codes scan in the same way but may contain other data. Eli Lilly have a website - scan.lilley.com, but this doesn’t seem to be up and running at the moment. It may be why mine and other people’s boxes QR codes aren’t working , or that they don’t have a URL weblink. Sorry I hope that makes sense, am not very technical! 😂

Sorry you had issues with a hot red reaction too and v helpful to hear the leaving more warming time helped and has been fine the last couple of months.
I left it out for an hour before jabbing (and normally leave it on my lap to warm up) so thought that was enough, but will maybe get it out of the fridge for even longer and see if that helps. I am not sure how effective it was to be honest but I am having overall minimal suppression anyway and the same food chatter as with pre-MJ. I heard people say and it looks like you too that things started to work better for them when they started on the higher doses, 10mg and over so am still hopeful the effects might improve on the higher doses.
Thanks am happy I’ve switched to Oushk, they have a great rep for as a company and particularly for customer service.

Wow you must feel a million dollars with your WL progress, well done! So are you sticking with 10mg for now?

Out of interest did you get your insulin resistance formally diagnosed? If yes how did you go about it eg via GP or a specialist? I suspect IR, have so many of the associated symptoms but not formally diagnosed. I’m sure the fat loss will have huge benefits health wise and is supposed to have a good effect on stabilising blood sugar so hopefully will help with IR too. Keep plodding, you’re doing great :)

The walking club sounds fun and is a perfect time of year to start. I managed a forrest walk with my toddler last week and for the first time we didn’t get caked in mud which was nice! Yeah I’ve switched to Oushk too. Maintenance feels a long way off, but at least it will be there as an option.
