Hi

I am starting this thread for anyone that is starting their weight loss in March.

I have read a lots of the other threads and have never ordered until today when I looked in the mirror this morning and did not recognise the woman staring back at me, she looked unhappy and ashamed and quite frankly fat.

I got on the scales and worked out my BMI is 32, until 3 years ago my weight was around 9 stone, I am now 13 stone, peri menopause, an under active thyroid, death of a parent and not bothering with exercise and eating too much has left me like this.

My goal is to get to 10.5 stone by the end of May as that is when my son get married, and then keep going.

So who would like to join me, where we can support each other and go onto bigger and better things in life

Hello everyone! After reading this thread and hiding in the shadows I have braved it and am waiting for my injections to arrive today! Have already lost 2st 10lb on keto but cant seem to lose any more so giving the injection a go to see if it will help, I’m gluten intolerant anyway so avoiding carbs isn’t too bad!

What are you eating if doing Keto already? Is it lots of butter or cream or something?
I think the jabs will work well if you nibbling on cheese or nuts when you really aren't hungry.

I am no refined carbs most of the time but found on Mounjaro I really craved ( and ate) the cake and doughnuts at work. I thought that was off
It has stopped the mindless grazing after supper though.

Beebsta · 06/03/2025 19:12

I am almost at the end of week two. The first week was great, I lost I think 1.8kg. This second week feels like I’ve made almost no progress and eating quite normally but with reduced snacking. Tomorrow is weigh in day, but I’m only down 0.3kg for the week so far. If things don’t improve over week 3, looks like I’ll be going back to the Dr to up my dose to 5mg.

It’s mindless grazing on nuts and cheese! I’m hoping it will help to stop 🤞

I've taken the plunge and ordered! Just waiting to be approved. Submitted my application and it got put on hold while they asked for photos so I'm waiting to see if my pics are ok then I'll be officially joining you all!

Well done! I’m only on day 4 but it is lovely to not feel the food noise. And to not particularly fancy a beverage or 2….unusual for me!

How have your side effects been?

I'm really worried about getting an upset tummy. I'm trying to plan out when to take them. I was thinking the weekend so no work but equally don't want to impact family time at the weekend.

ShineyGreen · 06/03/2025 19:33

Day 6 today. Something really weird happened just now -after the whole week not having any appetite suppression at all, I got a quarter through my dinner and poof I just didn’t want the rest. This has honestly never happened before in the history of ShineyGreen.

I actively didn’t want the food on my plate. Wowzers. I’m gobsmacked at that feeling.

Fairislesweater · 06/03/2025 19:39

I injected about 13 hours ago. I have drunk LOADS today and my mouth is still dry! Had a weird stomach ache a while ago but it seems to have passed. I’ve had IBS all my life so the possibility of stomach upsets doesn’t faze me. Struggled to finish lunch (egg salad) and am making dinner shortly because I know I need it rather than wanting it. This is weird!

Oooooomph · 06/03/2025 20:02

I took my first dose last night. I was a bit scared but I didn't even feel the needle go in. I woke up thirsty, with a slight headache and neckache. Nothing too bad at all.

I was fairly hungry for breakfast but only ate about 2/3rds of it, had an egg for lunch, and could only finish about half of my dinner. I had a small craving for a biscuit in the afternoon but was able to talk myself out of it very easily, which was a brand new experience. The other noticeable change was coffee. I usually drink 2 or 3 cups before 12:00pm and want more, it's something I always look forward to. This morning I'd only finished half a cup by 11. I made a fresh cup but found it a couple of hours later where I'd left on the counter undrunk.

I am so excited to finally be on this journey after months and months of deliberating about it!

I’m a bit worried about what I’ll do without wine and nice food to fill my time and distract me…

HappyKatieA · 06/03/2025 20:13

I've just taken my second jab and checked in. I've lost 2.6lbs which I'm a bit disappointed with.
I'm not overly worried though, I know it'll come off, I've had good suppression all week, a little food noise creeping in in the last couple of days but nothing terrible.
So, I'm onto week 2.

Yeah I get that. In fact I do still think about what to eat or drink most of the evening.
The difference is I actually can't face any of it.

Tonight I was seriously thinking about a nice glass of rose ( seriously sunny today). Before I'd be straight out to get some. Now I thinking about how nice it would be but also thinking, meh. Which NEVER happens. So I've been thinking about that more than the wine.

Overhaul54 · 06/03/2025 20:16

I'm actually thinking I want more water....

Been absolutely fine but I’m being careful in what I pick to eat and having an actimel a day!

TryingMJ · 06/03/2025 20:50

Just catching up on all the messages.

Weigh in day tomorrow morning. Unfortunately I’ve had to get new scales as my previous ones (I won’t say old ones as they weren’t old at all, only a few months actually!) have given up- I think maybe they’ve had some water damage being kept in the bathroom. I say unfortunately because it means my weigh in day will be on a new set of scales so could affect the consistency of my weigh in? Maybe not though and I’ll just have to take it from there.

Still feeling full all the time, no other side effects since the diarrhoea a couple of nights ago. I’ll be doing my first weigh in tomorrow morning first thing then doing my second jab tomorrow evening.

My start weight was 13 stone 6lbs with a BMI of 31. Will report back in the morning.

FrozenFractal · 06/03/2025 21:00

Meds arriving on Saturday! I was hoping Friday would be jab day so I can chill and sleep if I'm feeling any side effects but I'm obviously not going to let it sit in the fridge for a week.

MamaNewtNewt · 06/03/2025 18:53

@MrsMariaReynolds I get where you are coming from but it's still a loss, and isn't the 2.5 just a starter does to get us used to it? It may be more effective for you when we move up a dose. Keep your chin up, we are all in this together for the long haul, you can do it!

Thank you 😊 I keep reminding myself that slower and steadier progress will be better in the long run for maintenance. I haven't had much of any side effects (or even suppression if I'm honest--i still always feel hungry) on this beginning dose so hopefully when I move up to 5mg next month I'll see more progress.

soupforbrains · 07/03/2025 00:28

I've had to start setting alarms on my phone to remind me to eat.

Today I forgot to eat breakfast and then was busy with work and only realised in the car on the way home this evening that I hadn't eaten anything all day. I still wasn't hungry at that point either! When I do eat I feel extremely full very quickly. So I've been taking snack size bites in little tubs to work. To spread across 5 or 6 'micro-meals'

I've set alarms now for each snack time to remind me. Because I know I need to keep fuelling my body at least a little and to avoid constipation I want to keep a little going through my digestive system at all times.

I could only manage half my dinner last night. Woken up feeling a little nauseous but it seems to be passing. I’m with Juniper who recommend weighing and measuring daily so you see all the fluctuations so I’ll start with that and stop if it’s disheartening!

Choirgirl699 · 07/03/2025 06:22

I weigh myself every day so I can keep note of daily fluctuations and allow myself to feel comfortable with gains. In the past, I've weighed weekly and got a gain on weigh day when I'd been losing all week.

Very odd though, for the last 3 days 1lb a day has been coming off, that's never happened! Likely water and my period ending contributing but still makes me happy and hopeful.

Good luck to everyone. 2nd jab for me tomorrow, food suppression still there so 🤞

TryingMJ · 07/03/2025 06:34

The first week weigh in is complete (yes like others I’ve been doing a few cheeky daily weigh ins too so had a good idea but…)…. I’ve lost 8lbs!!! 8.6lbs to be exact. I would’ve struggled to lose that in a month before. I know I know get big losses like that every week and that in the first week a lot is water weight/bloat but I’m very happy!

Start weight 13 stone 6.5lbs
Current weight 12 stone 11.9lbs

I'm feeling almost normal now and had a fairly big dinner last night and more wine than I wanted .I have found it easier to resist biscuits but I am not getting full more easily . I have been a bit burry in the week but this has passed. Let's hope I have lost a bit when I weigh myself ; it is good for morale!

MamaNewtNewt · 07/03/2025 08:03

Blimey well done @Lordofmyflies and @TryingMJ!

I've just weighed myself after the first week and I've lost 4lbs. Like @MrsMariaReynolds I'm a little disappointed, just seeing that amount compared with others and knowing that the first week is often the biggest loss. I ate rally well, didn't snack at all, and ate no sugar, so it's clearly not going to get much better than that. I do need to get some exercise though so that should help. Still I'm going to take my own advice and be happy it's a loss, and I think my personal mantra will be "It's a marathon not a sprint". Not that I could do either of those things right now, but maybe one day 😊

Start Weight: 18s 7.4lbs
Current Weight: 18s 3.4lbs
Total Loss: 4lbs

Sleepeazie · 07/03/2025 08:13

Today is day 5 (if Sunday ((jab day)) was day 0).

I’m up to 5lb loss today.
12:5.7 to 12:0.9.

had a very boozy day yesterday (out with sister) and despite my appetite being non existent still, I managed to keep drinking 😧 I’d usually stick with pints and yesterday, 2 was enough … so I switched to wine!

I still stuck within my calories, but I was suprised to see a loss this morning nevertheless.

Planning a healthy and exercise filled weekend. If yesterday’s sun comes back then I will toil in the garden too.

Whilst I’m very happy with how much I’ve lost, I won’t feel truly happy until I breach 11:5 - as this is my lowest point on every eating plan I’ve tried, since I put the weight on when bed bound with covid.

Hope everybody has a good day and is still feeling the suppression and the sunshine ☀️
