Started Saturday
feeling really down hearted!
Not had my usual food at work and in the evenings of chocolate crisps and biscuits, instead I’m eating fruit, salad & meats at work and not snacking in the evenings
Today I’ve gained 1lb 😭😭
absolutely pissed off to say the least!
Last night after my tea I went to bed because I was so hungry so instead of eating I had an early night!
Woke up this morning hungry too so had some fruit and cereal and I’m still hungry!!!

It’s only the start of day 4 op? And on the starter dose to get your body used to it.

I am not sure what you were expecting, but I’m sorry it feels highly unrealistic.

SilenceInside · 12/02/2025 10:06

Please don't be downhearted! You are very unlikely to have actually gained a pound in a couple of days, particularly if you have been eating less than usual.

@Gettingslimmer is right that the 2.5mg dose is a starting dose, and is not intended to produce weight loss in the majority of people. It's a longer term process, it may take until you are on 5mg or higher to start feeling the full effects, so weeks not days.

The medication builds up in your system each week, so the levels will be higher each time, which should start to have an impact on you in the next couple of weeks or so.

Considering I’ve not eaten chocolate, crisps and biscuits which I can quite easily eat 3/4 packets of crisps 2/3 packets of biscuits and chocolate every day I was at least looking for a small loss of even 1lb!
wasnt expecting a gain as what I eat has changed drastically!

I’ve definitely gained 1lb as I weighed this morning
im really disappointed as I’ve changed what I eat drastically
i understand it’s not a magic drug, I realise it’s not going to make me lose weight instantly, it’s just disappointing that I’ve gone from eating 3/4 packets of crisps every day and like 2/3 packets of biscuits and chocolate, I would have liked to have seen at least 1lb loss on the scales x

Start of day four?! Get a grip.

SilenceInside · 12/02/2025 10:24

I know the scales have said you are 1 pound heavier, but it is not likely that you have actually gained a pound of fat. 1 pound is within normal fluctuations, it could be all sorts of things that aren't actually a pound of solid fat caused by you overeating by 3500 calories in 4 days. Most bathroom scales have an accuracy tolerance of plus or minus two thirds of a pound, or more if your weight is higher. Can be plus or minus more than a pound.

Herewegonowandagain · 12/02/2025 10:33

Give it time OP. You shouldn't even be looking at scales on day 4! Try to go 2 weeks without weighing yourself, concentrate on eating properly (not starving yourself), checking what you eat and removing the snacks and junk. Hopefully you should see a difference by the end of week 2.

lostinchaos · 12/02/2025 10:45

What have you been eating during the day? Have you kept a food diary? I have found I need to be very mindful of calories to lose weight, as well as exercising daily. It's much easier with the food noise reduced but I have worked hard to stick with it.

autumn1610 · 12/02/2025 10:59

I’m assuming you’re on an injection. I’ve just restarted as had an op so had to be off it for a while before and after. Previously I only started seeing some weight loss with 5mg which is where I got to before I had to stop I think 7.5mg will be right for me. If you’re hungry eat! That is doing no good for you, you need to be eating or your body will go into starvation. I had very little weight loss on 2.5mg and don’t expect to this time as I have zero effects from it. You cannot put a 1lb on in a day it’s natural fluctuation

Finallydoingit24 · 12/02/2025 11:56

You have to give it at least a week maybe even two before weighing yourself. If you were complaining after four weeks that you’d lost nothing I’d understand, but not barely four days.

Bigfellabamboo · 12/02/2025 12:00

You realise it's only Wednesday?

spuddy4 · 12/02/2025 12:48

Some people lose on 2.5mg and some don't. I didn't but it's literally been 4 days so I think your expectations are too high and you need to have a read through other threads on the board. It's not magic and doesn't work overnight unfortunately, you've got to be in it for the long haul exactly like any other diet.

WafflingDreamer · 12/02/2025 13:22

A 1lb gain is more likely to be your body holding on to water not actual fat. Make sure you are drinking lots of water and figure out a way that works for you to ensure that you are in a calorie deficit, personally I like calorie counting and stick at 1500cals a day. As long as you are in a calorie deficit then the weight will come off eventually.

Onlyvisiting · 12/02/2025 13:28

In 4 days your expectations are ridiculous and unrealistic.
Are you calorie counting? To have truly gained a pound in fat you would have to have eaten 3500 calories over and above your maintenance level within the last 4 days.
As a woman it is really important not to obsess over the scales to that degree, most of us gain and lose 'weight' based on our cycles. Fluid retention and what is nicely called 'food in transit' can easily cause fluctuations of multiple pounds.
My weight easily goes up by 3-5lb around and before my period, drops down again afterwards. So currently I am on a calorie controlled diet, for 1 or 2 weeks ill see no loss, then suddenly 5lb all at once.
You need to remember there is a difference between body fat and weight.

No33 · 12/02/2025 13:32

You can still consume too many calories eating healthier food.

You need to be working to a calorie deficit. MJ doesn't choose your food or the quantity you eat.

As others have said 2.5 is not a therapeutic dose.

I’m calorie counting using nutricheck

What calories is the app saying you should be eating?

Start of day four?! Get a grip.

Considering I’ve cut my calorie intake down by half then a small loss would be nice

You’re so rude!!

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 12/02/2025 14:18

Cutting calories in half doesn't mean you're actually in a large calorie deficit, as it depends how much you were eating before starting Mounjaro. Plus it's only been 4 days, so perhaps not long enough to actually show on the scales yet.

I’m sure you are in a calorie deficit if you have cut down by half. Yes a small loss would be nice but your body doesn’t always do what’s nice. Maybe your body is hanging on to weight a few days longer, maybe it’s bloating. You really can’t judge it when you’ve been on it for under a week. You need to be more patient.

theressomanytinafeysicouldbe · 12/02/2025 14:35

Make sure you are drinking a lot of water, i'm talking 3ltrs and more, this is very important

Have you changed your diet, what are you eating? Try more Veg and protein

It's early days, you may not see loss this week but see quite a large one after 2nd week

What is your starting weight and height? And how many calories are you aiming for a day?

Doggymummar · 12/02/2025 14:43

Hi, I know it's frustrating, buts it's very early days. You need to eat at a calorie deficit to your TDEE, not just less than before. There are loads of websites you can use to calculate this. Mine is 1293 cals per day. To lose a pound you need to eat 3500 calories less than this a week. That's 500 cals per day less. For me that's 793 cals. I can increase this by being more active but I rarely do. I follow Fast 800 take a good multivitamin and prioritise protein. I'm not suggesting you do this, just saying what I have to do. Apologies if you know all this. Best of luck

sounds like your expecting miracles and it is disheartening when you see people with the big losses I get it I’ve felt the same. But that’s clearly not how my body works. Going to bed and waking up hungry isn’t sustainable for a long term solution in my opinion anyway. Maybe adjust your calories slightly. Sometimes you can see better losses eating a bit more
