Started Saturday
feeling really down hearted!
Not had my usual food at work and in the evenings of chocolate crisps and biscuits, instead I’m eating fruit, salad & meats at work and not snacking in the evenings
Today I’ve gained 1lb 😭😭
absolutely pissed off to say the least!
Last night after my tea I went to bed because I was so hungry so instead of eating I had an early night!
Woke up this morning hungry too so had some fruit and cereal and I’m still hungry!!!

Can I ask what cals you’re eating?

Cantbesure · 12/02/2025 16:30

@Doggymummar 1200 sounds very low for your TDEE. Are you sure that's not your basal metabolic rate? I'm v short and my sedentary TDEE is 1500

Glorybox2025 · 12/02/2025 16:33

BrendaSmall · 12/02/2025 14:16

Considering I’ve cut my calorie intake down by half then a small loss would be nice

You’re so rude!!

She's not wrong though! You can't have gained 1lb in 3 days unless you've eaten thousands of calories above your TDEE which clearly isn't the case. You cannot be weighing daily and panicking if the scales fluctuate. You really do need to get a grip because thinking this way will drib you crazy.

SilenceInside · 12/02/2025 14:15

What calories is the app saying you should be eating?

1600, which I’m doing every day

Cutting calories in half doesn't mean you're actually in a large calorie deficit, as it depends how much you were eating before starting Mounjaro. Plus it's only been 4 days, so perhaps not long enough to actually show on the scales yet.

I’m now having 1600 according to the TDEE, I was literally eating over 3000 with 3/4 bags of crisps every, 2/3 packets of biscuits as well as dairy milk bars, and in the evenings eating even more rubbish as well as my tea

I’ve been recommended to have 1600 on a TDEE

So your TDEE is at least 2100 then @BrendaSmall , if your app is suggesting 1600 for weight loss? To be in a 500 calorie deficit each day in order to lose a pound in 7 days.

So, in 4 days, you would be in a 2000 calorie deficit so you might have lost half a pound, which may not yet show up on the scales due to normal accuracy variations or water retention and so on.

@Doggymummar the various online TDEE calculators make your TDEE to be around 1700 cals, so a 500 cal deficit would be 1200 cals a day.

SilenceInside · 12/02/2025 16:55

@BrendaSmall what is your height, weight, age and I'm assuming you're female? And you're using Sedentary as an activity level?

If the app says your TDEE is 1600 calories, then for weight loss of a pound a week you would need to be eating 1100 calories a day.

Your TDEE isn't 1200. You've misunderstood.

AlmondLoaf · 12/02/2025 17:07

If your daily allowance is 1600 and you are eating that you won't lose weight.. You want to be aiming more for 1200cals.
I think my daily allowance is 1400 but I am short and only a little overweight.
Also what drinks are you having? It's all well and good eating healthy but if you're not tracking your calories you can still overeat on healthy food.

If your tdee is only 1600 then you need to eat 1100 a day to lose 1lb a week

tdee is what you eat to maintain,

can you give your height, weight and activity levels and it can be checked for you.

Ladymuck2022 · 12/02/2025 17:14

Doesn’t weight fluctuate each day.

I know after my new year problems of eggy burps and being reduced to eat flavoured water (aka soup) when I weighted myself on leisure centre scales the Tuesday after I’d lost quite a bit but then weighing end of week on the Saturday on different scales I’d not lost as much as I thought so maybe you’ll have it in reverse.

I’ve just changed medication and started Wegovy at its very lowest dose and first week was half a pound off despite being active for an hour each day, making it half a stone since getting back to weight loss start of January.

Gettingslimmer · 12/02/2025 17:16

Op

tdee is total daily energy expenditure, it is how many cals a day we burn,

esting at that level means we maintain, above we gain, below we lose.

eating 500 under tdee a day means to lose 1lb a week,

bmr is basic metabolic rate, it is the cals we burn just breathing and being, without moving,

Gettingslimmer · 12/02/2025 17:20

I’m active, i go to the gym several times a week. My tdee is between 2200 and 2400, depending on what I do on a given day.

i eat an average of 1400 cals a day. And I lose an average of 2lbs a week.

as 500 under tdee usually results in a loss of 1lb a week, and a thousand under is 2lbs.

obvs if your tdee is onky 1600, you can’t really go lower than 1100, so max 500 under, but I’d check the tdee, are you very sedentary and short?

Correct 1297 last time I checked, which is what I eat to.

Glorybox2025 · 12/02/2025 16:56

Your TDEE isn't 1200. You've misunderstood.

To lose weight it is.

SilenceInside · 12/02/2025 17:55

@Doggymummar TDEE is your maintenance level, it's not a TDEE if you lose weight on it.

Then assuming sedentary, your tdee is 2132. So eating 1600 would have you lose 1lb a week. Eating 1100 would be 2lbs,

Glorybox2025 · 12/02/2025 17:57

Doggymummar · 12/02/2025 17:55

TDEE means total daily energy expenditure and is not the figure you need to lose weight. It's the amount you can eat to maintain.

Doggymummar · 12/02/2025 17:55

To lose weight it is.

That’s not right, I explained up thread. Tdee is what you eat to maintain weight.
