Started Saturday
feeling really down hearted!
Not had my usual food at work and in the evenings of chocolate crisps and biscuits, instead I’m eating fruit, salad & meats at work and not snacking in the evenings
Today I’ve gained 1lb 😭😭
absolutely pissed off to say the least!
Last night after my tea I went to bed because I was so hungry so instead of eating I had an early night!
Woke up this morning hungry too so had some fruit and cereal and I’m still hungry!!!

Give it more time OP...and step away from the scales for now

You have had lots of different advice and some harsh comments here. It is frustrating when you don’t lose much at the beginning when so many people seem to lose 8lb in the first week but you are not alone. Not everyone responds much to the 2.5mg dose. Once your dose is higher you won’t feel so hungry and you won’t be able to eat as much.

I would say relax about calories - get your head around your exclusions and try to eat unprocessed, healthy food. Patiently go up the doses and the weight loss will follow.

Thank you
i think I'm disappointed because I’ve not had no crisps, chocolate or biscuits so was disappointed to see id gained 1lb!

Start of day four?! Get a grip.

Aren't you a great delightful person!!
How rude!
Instead of itching how about offering some support!!

OP I’m a slow but steady loser on mounjaro and for the main thing is I’ve moved away from the whole diet culture process and obsessing over calories and a pound off and on here and there.
My losses were slow to start with and a bit disheartening but I trusted the process and am in this for the long haul not short term wins. I’ve 3 stone off … approximately half a stone a month. Slow and steady.

Its only been a few days for you and the dose you are on is a loading dose.
It’s not expected your dose will do much for you at this stage. Those early days and lower doses are just to get your body used to the medication so it can tolerate the increased more effective doses later on.

For now try and relax and trust the process. Listen to your body.. if you are hungry eat. Maybe going from 3000 calories to 1600 is just to drastic right now. Maybe week one have 2000 calories, week 2 have 1900, week 3 have 1800 and so on. Let you body adjust to the medication as well as the reduction in calories.

Someone said in a post earlier mounjaro isn’t a fat melter. Four days of being on it is unlikely to bring any changes at all. I’d recommend putting your scales away for the first few weeks altogether. I’d also recommend you don’t force yourself to go bed hungry, that’s just going to make you feel miserable and downhearted.

Your appetite suppression with mounjaro will take a while to kick in but when it does that will seriously help you be in a natural calorie deficit so for now a slice of toast or a bowl of cereal if you need it before bed will be fine.

Don’t get disheartened, this is only the beginning of the journey. It won’t always be big and steady losses - sometimes you’ll go up, sometimes you’ll maintain. You need to work on building your resilience and not letting the scales get you down or off track.

If you know the amount of calories you should be on to lose and you’re not exceeding that, the scales will catch up.

The “gain” is probably not a gain at all. You would see a “gain” if you’ve not had enough water, or if you’ve had saltier / richer foods, or depending on the time of the month. It’s there on the scale but it doesn’t mean you’ve somehow gained a pound of fat. Usually you would notice the following week or in a few days you get a big “whoosh” and that pound is gone and then some.

4 days is nothing! You really will have to adjust your mindset, weight loss is a long term change and commitment. The injections are not magic potions.

sounds like your expecting miracles and it is disheartening when you see people with the big losses I get it I’ve felt the same. But that’s clearly not how my body works. Going to bed and waking up hungry isn’t sustainable for a long term solution in my opinion anyway. Maybe adjust your calories slightly. Sometimes you can see better losses eating a bit more

I understand your eagerness to see if any weight has been lost but expecting to see it after only 4 days is unrealistic.

It doesn't sound as though your appetite has been dampened. I started my injections last Sunday and it immediately had an effect on my appetite. I'm not eating breakfast and only had half a sandwich or a yoghurt at lunchtime - and even then only because I thought I needed to eat something, I wasn't actually hungry. Yesterday I had nothing at all except coffee and water until I got home and today it's the same. I'm just not hungry. I appreciate that's not really what you want to hear.

I'm personally not going to weigh myself until I've done a fortnight, or maybe even the full month, because I'm aware that this introductory 2.5 dose is just that, to get your body ready for the big guns.

Sorry, didn't mean to quote above!

My appetite has literally dropped so much!
Ive also practically cut my calorie intake down by half!
Ive been advised to eat even if I don’t feel hungry as you don’t lose if you do eat much due to body holding onto fat going into starvation mode

Who advised you of this? Starvation mode is a myth op.

it comes from a trial, done years ago, where participants were starved, as in nil by mouth, they found that metabolism slowed, the longer they went without food. But weight loss was as you’d expect. No one stays fat when under eating, the body doesn’t hold onto fat. A common example of that would be anorexics. If starvation mode was true they’d be fat.

it feels like someone misinterpreted it, maybe fake news, but there is no such thing as the body holding on to fat as it’s starving. It is not humanly possible. Your body uses the fat for fuel. And starving is not eating 1000 cals a day, or 600 or 1600, it is days and days without food.any food.

TootieFrooties · 14/02/2025 17:10

I'm doing my fifth injection tomorrow. I didn't even think about it in week one as I sort of assumed it was just getting into my system,

In week two I was noticeably less hungry so I ate less.

In week three I could tell I had lost weight because the coat I wear at work felt looser.

I didn't weigh myself at all until I needed to so I could order my second pen.

Gettingslimmer · 14/02/2025 17:28

However sorry to add to my post, of course you’ve got to eat to remain healthy, and ensure you eat your cals and protein. But it’s nothing to do with the myth of starvation mode. Simply to come out the other side healthy and not to have muscle wastage, which is terrible for health and looks awful , you need to eat.

How are you getting on?

There is no such thing as dietary starvation mode. It's not a thing. If it was then anorexics wouldn't be so skinny.

What does happen is your body starts slowing down some of its autonomous functions so your hair can fall out and your nails go brittle l, you will have less energy etc. but your fat doesn't magically not get used. Fat is the body's energy store. If you are not getting in energy your body will use the fat. If you eat too little and do not exercise your muscles will also shrink as muscle is metabolically active and requires more energy to sustain but your body won't start burning muscle instead of fat and your body won't hold on to fat

I didn't see a loss on the scales for the first couple of weeks and then it started dropping off but I also did a keto diet.
